April's Sound Of Renaissance starts a little differently with the ambient swells of Framework's touching tribute to the late Angel Moraes, who worked with us a lot over the years and will be greatly missed. RIP Angel. From there the ethereal feel continues with Gidge; the fabulous Lost Desert re-work of Bedrock's 'Beautiful Strange' and the overlooked 'Secondary Thoughts' from Get Physical's Felix Raphael, before we take an indie dance left turn that includes the utterly brilliant INVŌKER remix of Komenda. Things power home with the bigs guns: Andhim grind Mathias Tanzmann's 'Coffee Clouds'; Depeche Mode's Martin Gore gets the ANNA treatment and Agents Of Time 'Rise To Power', ahead of a 3-deck finale that features the Leftfield-inspired dub of Calibre & DRS, our return to the ReMix Collection with Yotto's powerful take on 'Garden Of Peace' and Money Safari's rather gorgeous, haunting interpretation of UNDERHER's 'Everything Goes'. Originating from Sweden, Gidge are a duo who seek inspiration from a somewhat uncompromising environment. Cold, harsh winters leave little room for musical warmth and creativity, yet somehow the pair manage to maintain a depth and meaning to their sound which transcends far beyond their surroundings. The pair first met back in school at the age of 16. Rooted in the small city of Umeå Jonatan Nilsson and Ludvig Stolterman quickly became friends through a shared love of the abstract and electronic music. This would later materialise into them producing music together as the duo Gidge. This month saw the release of their second mini album on Atomnation, a record label not known for compromise or a sub standard release policy which has previously hosted music by the likes of Weval, Olaf Stuut and Sau Poler. We caught up with the pair on the back of the release of their latest work 'LNLNN' as they deliver a Monday mix for Ransom Note

Culminating some hectic but eclectic recent experiences of the last few weeks and executed in the contemplative wake of a recent view of 'Eden'. Elements of Bongholio Iglesias, D:Bridge, Jacques Greene and Sasha in the selection, coming off like a Back2MineOnTheGlobalUnderground.. but most definitely monosonics on a mad one on the holistic. With a 100-120 BPM transitioning fusion of Glitch-Funk, DnB, Dub, Electronica and Deep House in an ethereally styled melting pot of defined snare patterns, intense bass-lines and open structures, a listening experience first and foremost. The standout track for me has to come from Gidge, for me the eloquence and elaboration of their production really added to the tone that I was trying to create with the episode, love the way it compliments the similar styles of artists such as Pariah, Burial and SYNKRO but with an extra touch of Folk! Several of my favourite compilations and some early vinyl mixes (coming to Digital soon) feature 'Space' remixes (such as StoneProof - 'Everything's not you') by the legendary Jon Graham, so the Epic proportions of the track from Quivver has to be another serious contender for me on the fave rave tip on this outing! 01 Phil Gerus - Kissing this and that 02 DJ Koze - I haven't been everywhere.. 03 Andy Stott - Time away 04 B12 - Descension 05 Andy Stott - Industry & Science 06 Anthony Mea - Landscape (Evgeny Midnight dub) 07 Quivver - Takin Over (Reprise) 08 Kraak & Smaak - Future is yours (Adriatic Illusion Rework) 09 Maxxi SoundSystem - In the Woods 10 Lehar - Zephyr 11 Gidge - Huldra 12 Alfred R - Another Move
