Faith in Jesus does not mean following religious rules; faith is established in our relationship with Him. Misplaced faith is when we love or place our ultimate hope in anything or anyone more than our faith in Christ. This is what scripture calls idolatry. In the passage below, we see Jesus' compassion and love for someone who had their heart gripped by earthly possessions and wealth.Russell TolentinoSunday, September 14th, 2025 Live at 6:00PM

In this episode, Matt is joined by Jeremiah Capule, a church planter and pastor of a diverse network of house churches called the Alberta Underground in Edmonton and Calgary. Jeremiah shares about growing up in the Philippines, working as a scuba instructor and how these experiences prepared him to make disciples in Canada. He also talks about the tension between being busy and doing a lot of 'good' things but not necessarily 'God's' thing. To learn more about Jeremiah, you can email him at ck.jerem@gmail.com.
21 Reasons for Trusting In God Laura BuckleyDo you or someone you know doubt or question if God is real? I know that sounds like a blasphemous question for a Christian podcast – but it is one that is being asked in society today.I hear questions all of the time that try to plant the seed of doubt into the minds of some people about the existence of God…Things like, “Why would a loving God allow so much evil in the world?”“Why would God allow all of this devastation or sickness or wars (put whatever thought you may have or have heard in there as well)?Sometimes, we just need to sit down and contemplate these things. Not do “doubt if God exists.” No… but to contemplate the importance of relying ON GOD in times like this. Our guest today decided to explore the profound aspects of Faith and Spirituality in light of sharing the Gospel message of hope, trust and unwavering belief in a loving God…and how to provide answers to those who may be questioning these beliefs.Laura Buckley is a devoted Christian author who is committed to exploring the profound aspects of faith and spirituality. She has dedicated her literary journey to sharing the Christian message with readers around the world. To help accomplish this goal, she has published a wonderful book titled, “21 Reasons for Trusting in God.” This book offers the spiritual guidance and tangible proof to help reinforce the reader's confidence in God's presence and God's Love.Help me welcome to the program, Laura Buckley!Laura, thank you for taking the time out of your schedule to visit with us today. I do appreciate joining us.First question I always start with is this… other than that brief information I just shared, can you share with us in your own words, “Who is Laura Buckley?”Is this book, “21 Reasons for Trusting in God,” your first book? Or have you authored other books?Do you see people saying they “Believe in God” but yet, they kind of hold back or reserve doubt because they are not “really sure” one way or the other?I believe another element that adds to the confusion is all of the different faiths and belief systems that are out there today. How did that play into your research and final product of this great book?Personally, I believe it takes greater faith to NOT BELIEVE IN GOD than to be a believer… For example, despite man's greatest technological ability – we have never heard of a scientist creating a new, fully functional biological organism – even a single cell amoeba! Let alone a complicated, fully sustained, replicating biological system even like a slug or a worm, let alone a human.I guess the question there is, did you dive into any of the scientific explanations for the existence of God?You have a chapter in the book titled “Objections and Difficult Questions.” Share with us a couple of the major objections you encountered as to why people do not believe in God and how your responded in your book? Some people may say, “Faith is just wishing…” or “Faith is simply a crutch for weak people.” How does your book overcome those stereotypical ideas? Some people try to equate God with religion. With so many different faiths in the world, how does your book reconcile

"God Doing God Things" - Mark 6:30-56Pastor Greg Doll
...So then Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God, Romans 10:17 (KJV)
The Triune God Doing "Triune God Things"A SERMON BASED ON Romans 8:12-17Every other religion has a god. This god is described in a variety of ways: powerful, wise, angry, loving, perfect, flawed… every religion thinks something about their god. What should we think about our Triune God? Who he is is revealed to us by what he has done. This week, we discover a God who reveals himself as a God who is more complex than we could possibly imagine. We understand more and more about him as we see his work in our lives. Let's take a look!
In his first sermon on the book of Haggai, Pastor Nick Mastrude discusses the importance of prioritizing God's work over our own worldly pursuits. He challenges listeners to consider how they might be called to realign their values and invites them to envision the satisfaction found in God's kingdom rather than their own self-centered ambitions. Instead of majoring in good things, let's major in God's things.
This Wednesday, Pastor Nick Mastrude continued our series in Haggai. When it comes to doing God's kingdom work, it is easy to become discouraged. Day after day, brick after brick, it oftentimes seems as though no progress is being made. Haggai reminds God's people that they are building far more than they see. God is quick to turn their discouragement into a moment that stirs up their spirits to work wholeheartedly. Similarly, when we do God's kingdom work, we are building far more than we see. Keep pressing in!
This Wednesday, Pastor Nick Mastrude continued our series in Haggai. God is more concerned with the posture of our hearts than the labor of our hands. We don't want to build God's house only to miss the God of the house. Tune in and be encouraged!
In the opening pages of Ecclesiastes, the Preacher invites us to think, with sober-minded precision, about the things that we tend to get so hung up over. He highlights that we tend to invest far too much of our hopes and dreams in things that, while good, do not ultimately last. In chapters 1 & 2, he highlights three things we tend to look to for our ultimate significance and satisfaction: education, pleasure, and work. Yet, with each, he reminds us: “These things don't last.” Like everything else in this world, they are hevel. A wise person can appreciate each for what it is: a good thing but NOT a God-thing. To inhabit time well is to appreciate each for what it is while not ultimately looking to them for our deeper joy and satisfaction. While these things all have their place, they are intended to point us to something greater: the God who alone is the one who gives us these good gifts (Ecclesiastes 2:26).

Today I am joined by Sasha from Intentional Momlife with Jesus podcast to chat about God things vs good things. As mums and women, we have so much come across our plate - how do we know what to say yes to? How do we say no? How do we know what to prioritise in this season? We chat through these questions and more to understand why it's okay to say no to seemingly good things. You can listen to Intentional Momlife with Jesus here and check out Sasha's website here
How often do we ignore God's call? Why is it easier for us to ignore His call during the successful and high times in our lives? Are we doing God things with our good things? It's important how we respond to the successes we receive from God because that will shape how we view the other times when we don't feel blessed. Success and wealth can tempt us into giving ourselves all the credit and blaming God when things aren't going well. But the real message of the Gospel demands more than we thought and offers more than we ever imagined.
Today on the podcast, we are talking about the difference between good things and God things. Have you ever questioned what you're doing in life? Like right now in this season? Is what you're doing right now just a good thing that almost anybody can do OR are you doing the things that God has called and ordained you to do in life and in this season? Sasha shares how to discover and live according to your God things to overcome that feeling of overwhelm and chaos in your life. These tips also help you to give your wisest yes and most discerning nos to all those various opportunities to serve Gods kingdom both locally and globally. Sasha shares about the difference between good things and God things through a few examples in her life and encourages listeners with powerful questions to help you lead a life of Biblical integrity. Do you need some accountability/assistance in living according to your God things over the good things in life? Join us in the SHE RISES Bible Consistency Challenge. If I was a Jewish man or woman when Hebrews was written, "Faith is the substance of things hoped for." What would I have been hoping for? A New Cadillac? No, the prophets to be fulfilled in the promises declared to the nation of Israel. I would have been hoping for Messiah to come and the great restoration to come in the earth. I would have been hoping for my sins and iniquities to be remembered no. I would have been hoping for a New Mind and a New Spirit. All of these things I would have been hoping for are found in THE PERSON OF JESUS CHRIST. He is where the things hoped for are found, realized and experienced. Glory to God!

God Things. Those events that happen in our lives that we really have very little to do with; things we don't cause or arrange, but that have huge impact on us. How did they happen? Psalm 37:23 says that, The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand. Not everything that happens to us is good on its own merit, but we serve a God that can take them all individually, the good, the bad and the ugly, and weave them together into the perfect tapestry that becomes the very fabric of our lives--built around Him. Our country needs some God Things right now. Be encouraged because we serve the God who never changes. If He has ever done one God Thing (and He has!), He'll certainly do it again, and again. Romans 11:36 says, Everything comes from Him, everything happens through Him, and everything ends up in Him. Do you trust Him to perform God Things in your life?
Pastor Mark walks us through many different scriptures and highlights Romans 12:3 to talk about where we need to be positioned so God can do mighty things in our lives.
Never fasted before? It's actually a spiritual discipline that allows us to remove some "good things" in our lives to make some room for more "God Things."
On this episode we have part two with special guest Aaron Rayford. Aaron Rayford who is a musician, business owner, and full time RVer. Jeremy and Aaron talk about how to live life intentionally. Aaron took 3 years to develop a plan to take life on the open road (With 4 kids running multiple businesses, and homeschooling).
