21 Reasons for Trusting In God Laura BuckleyDo you or someone you know doubt or question if God is real? I know that sounds like a blasphemous question for a Christian podcast – but it is one that is being asked in society today.I hear questions all of the time that try to plant the seed of doubt into the minds of some people about the existence of God…Things like, “Why would a loving God allow so much evil in the world?”“Why would God allow all of this devastation or sickness or wars (put whatever thought you may have or have heard in there as well)?Sometimes, we just need to sit down and contemplate these things. Not do “doubt if God exists.” No… but to contemplate the importance of relying ON GOD in times like this. Our guest today decided to explore the profound aspects of Faith and Spirituality in light of sharing the Gospel message of hope, trust and unwavering belief in a loving God…and how to provide answers to those who may be questioning these beliefs.Laura Buckley is a devoted Christian author who is committed to exploring the profound aspects of faith and spirituality. She has dedicated her literary journey to sharing the Christian message with readers around the world. To help accomplish this goal, she has published a wonderful book titled, “21 Reasons for Trusting in God.” This book offers the spiritual guidance and tangible proof to help reinforce the reader's confidence in God's presence and God's Love.Help me welcome to the program, Laura Buckley!Laura, thank you for taking the time out of your schedule to visit with us today. I do appreciate joining us.First question I always start with is this… other than that brief information I just shared, can you share with us in your own words, “Who is Laura Buckley?”Is this book, “21 Reasons for Trusting in God,” your first book? Or have you authored other books?Do you see people saying they “Believe in God” but yet, they kind of hold back or reserve doubt because they are not “really sure” one way or the other?I believe another element that adds to the confusion is all of the different faiths and belief systems that are out there today. How did that play into your research and final product of this great book?Personally, I believe it takes greater faith to NOT BELIEVE IN GOD than to be a believer… For example, despite man's greatest technological ability – we have never heard of a scientist creating a new, fully functional biological organism – even a single cell amoeba! Let alone a complicated, fully sustained, replicating biological system even like a slug or a worm, let alone a human.I guess the question there is, did you dive into any of the scientific explanations for the existence of God?You have a chapter in the book titled “Objections and Difficult Questions.” Share with us a couple of the major objections you encountered as to why people do not believe in God and how your responded in your book? Some people may say, “Faith is just wishing…” or “Faith is simply a crutch for weak people.” How does your book overcome those stereotypical ideas? Some people try to equate God with religion. With so many different faiths in the world, how does your book reconcile

The Triune God Doing "Triune God Things"A SERMON BASED ON Romans 8:12-17Every other religion has a god. This god is described in a variety of ways: powerful, wise, angry, loving, perfect, flawed… every religion thinks something about their god. What should we think about our Triune God? Who he is is revealed to us by what he has done. This week, we discover a God who reveals himself as a God who is more complex than we could possibly imagine. We understand more and more about him as we see his work in our lives. Let's take a look!

This Wednesday, Pastor Nick Mastrude continued our series in Haggai. When it comes to doing God's kingdom work, it is easy to become discouraged. Day after day, brick after brick, it oftentimes seems as though no progress is being made. Haggai reminds God's people that they are building far more than they see. God is quick to turn their discouragement into a moment that stirs up their spirits to work wholeheartedly. Similarly, when we do God's kingdom work, we are building far more than we see. Keep pressing in!

In his first sermon on the book of Haggai, Pastor Nick Mastrude discusses the importance of prioritizing God's work over our own worldly pursuits. He challenges listeners to consider how they might be called to realign their values and invites them to envision the satisfaction found in God's kingdom rather than their own self-centered ambitions. Instead of majoring in good things, let's major in God's things.

In the opening pages of Ecclesiastes, the Preacher invites us to think, with sober-minded precision, about the things that we tend to get so hung up over. He highlights that we tend to invest far too much of our hopes and dreams in things that, while good, do not ultimately last. In chapters 1 & 2, he highlights three things we tend to look to for our ultimate significance and satisfaction: education, pleasure, and work. Yet, with each, he reminds us: “These things don't last.” Like everything else in this world, they are hevel. A wise person can appreciate each for what it is: a good thing but NOT a God-thing. To inhabit time well is to appreciate each for what it is while not ultimately looking to them for our deeper joy and satisfaction. While these things all have their place, they are intended to point us to something greater: the God who alone is the one who gives us these good gifts (Ecclesiastes 2:26).

How often do we ignore God's call? Why is it easier for us to ignore His call during the successful and high times in our lives? Are we doing God things with our good things? It's important how we respond to the successes we receive from God because that will shape how we view the other times when we don't feel blessed. Success and wealth can tempt us into giving ourselves all the credit and blaming God when things aren't going well. But the real message of the Gospel demands more than we thought and offers more than we ever imagined.

If I was a Jewish man or woman when Hebrews was written, "Faith is the substance of things hoped for."  What would I have been hoping for?  A New Cadillac?  No, the prophets to be fulfilled in the promises declared to the nation of Israel.  I would have been hoping for Messiah to come and the great restoration to come in the earth.  I would have been hoping for my sins and iniquities to be remembered no.  I would have been hoping for a New Mind and a New Spirit.     All of these things I would have been hoping for are found in THE PERSON OF JESUS CHRIST.  He is where the things hoped for are found, realized and experienced.  Glory to God!

God Things. Those events that happen in our lives that we really have very little to do with; things we don't cause or arrange, but that have huge impact on us. How did they happen? Psalm 37:23 says that, The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand. Not everything that happens to us is good on its own merit, but we serve a God that can take them all individually, the good, the bad and the ugly, and weave them together into the perfect tapestry that becomes the very fabric of our lives--built around Him. Our country needs some God Things right now. Be encouraged because we serve the God who never changes. If He has ever done one God Thing (and He has!), He'll certainly do it again, and again. Romans 11:36 says, Everything comes from Him, everything happens through Him, and everything ends up in Him. Do you trust Him to perform God Things in your life?

Series: Colossians: Supreme!Title: “How to keep good things from becoming God things”Scripture: Colossians 3:1-4(Commentary helps listed at the end)Bottom line: We keep good things from becoming God things when we set our hearts and minds on things above—where Christ sits. That is when we live in light of eternity.Opening story:This week we move from warnings (we had 4 last week) to coaching. Paul is coaching them in the direction that they should go.Many of us had a coach growing up who was influential in our life. Through sport (or dance or some other extracurricular activity) we learned not only that sport but discipline, people skills, emotional skills and in some cases spiritual wisdom. As a coach for our high school ultimate team, I'm now learning things from the other side of this relationship. One thing I know: coaching is essential for growing up into maturity. This is true in every area of life—not just the spiritual.I've actually hired my first coach. I've had coaching in ministry before, but I've never actually hired someone to help me assess, diagnose, evaluate, strategize, and be held accountable to work through the things God is calling me to do. It's humbling because you have to face your current reality with someone with nothing to lose in being totally honest with you. But it's encouraging because that's exactly what we need in life.Parents, you're not just a disciplinarian. You're a coach too (among other things). You are there to teach, rebuke, correct and train in righteousness along with many other practical things in life. Do not take this lightly. And never stop learning. Leaders are learners. When we quit learning, we quit leading. So Paul coaches the Colossians, the Laodiceans, and, well, us if we're FAT Christians (F.A.T. = Faithful, Available, Teachable). And what do coaches do? They call their team to greater heights. They train and inspire. They call us from the warnings in practice to the calling for the game. They call us to victory! Paul calls us to victory in Christ, the hope of glory! But it's natural for a player to wrestle with the flesh and fight against the training and discipline and yearn for the easy road to glory and gain. This tension is what Paul aims to empower us to overcome.Paul is giving us the antidote(s) to a preoccupation withMaterialism: Wealth, possessionsNarcissism: Status, Achievements (professionally, academically, religiously)Hedonism: Sensuality, Pleasures, gratificationsA preoccupation with these good things making them God things leads to stress, anxiety, sleeplessness, depression, hopelessness, and the desire to just give up. Ever feel any of those? Well, if you have, you've made something temporary into something eternal that was never meant to be. This is a poisonous mindset. We need an antidote. The antidote to making these good things God things is orienting your whole life around Christ Jesus as your Lord and King.Outline:In light of who Christ is, what he's done and the warnings Paul has given, Paul calls/coaches the Christians in Colossae, Laodicea and beyond to:I. What should they do? Focus on Christ's priorities:Set your heart(s) (1)Feelings PassionsWillOn things aboveHeavenly agendaGod's agenda“Where Christ is” “Seated at the right hand of God” because he's your King'sSet your mind(s)—What you think about and aim for (2)On things above (see above)Not on earthly things, like:Possessions, wealthAchievementsStatusPleasures, gratificationsReligiosityII. Why do it? Because of who they are in light of Christ since they believed:Because you died with Christ (3)Crucified with Christ (CROSS)JustifiedFreed from the penalty of sinBecause you are hidden with (in) ChristConcealed (BURIED)Identifying with (BAPTIZED)Safe (Show YouTube video here: https://youtu.be/LNZ-ZBsPpgk)Because you will be glorified with ChristChrist is your lifeHe'll appear here one dayYou'll then appear there on that dayConclusionBottom line: We keep good things from becoming God things when we set our hearts and minds on things above—where Christ sits. That is when we live in light of eternity.Place our piece of paper with our name on it into our bible. The antidotes to materialism, narcissism, and hedonism is simply centering and focusing your life in Christ and his priorities. When you rest in Christ and what he's doing, you'llServe others instead of seek to be served.Deny yourself and give instead of pursuing wealth at all costs.Live simply and give the rest away. And you'll do all of this in Christ's name and by his power for his glory. And when he appears here you'll appear there with him hearing, “Well done my good and faithful servant. Enter into your glory.”PrayLord's Supper, 1 Corinthians 11:17-32OtherPace Outline: Title: Our faith in Christ raises us to new life (3:1-4)Through our identity in and union with Christ, Jesus transforms our pursuits, perspective, and purpose in life by resetting our trajectory heavenward toward Christ Jesus. (Name on paper in the Bible illustration)I. Jesus redirects life's pursuits. (1) …from our worldly efforts for happiness to his heavenly presence in our hearts bearing the fruit of the Spirit. To redirect our pursuits requires us to recalibrate our hearts desires. How do my pursuits align with Christ's kingdom, Christ's mission, and building Christ's church? Our hearts, captivated by Christ, will more naturally help us filter and evaluate our pursuits.“Ultimately, our union with Christ should stir our affections for him and redirect our pursuits.” P. 79II. Jesus reshapes life's perspective. (2)…through the nenewing of our minds. Reshaping/renewing the mind is foundational to transformation. This is necessary for several reasons:Primarily, it “enables us to fulfill the great commission by loving God with our entire selves, including our minds.”“Also essentially because it protects us from the world's influence as the world attempts to conform our thinking to its pattern. Through the constant renewing of our minds, we can experience God's transformation in our lives (Rom 12:2).”FruitThis renewed perspective also guards our hearts and minds with God's peace as we dwell on things above.Phil 4:6-8Prov 4:23Also, by focusing on what's eternal (above), we can renew our hope in the midst of temporary afflictions/trials.2 Cor 4:16-18Rom 8:6-81 Cor 2:16Therefore, Jesus redirects our life pursuits and reshapes our life perspective as we set our hearts and minds on things above—namely Christ and his priorities.III. Jesus redefines life's purpose. (3-4) Our identity in and union with Christ also redefines our purpose. So why are we to set our hearts and minds on things above? For you (we) died andYour (our) life is hidden in Christ. The FlowEstablished past… “You (we) died” (crucified; justified; freed from penalty of sin) toThe present… “Your (our) life is hidden” (buried; sanctified; freed from the power of sin) show videohere (https://youtu.be/LNZ-ZBsPpgk) toThe future… “You (we) also will appear” (resurrected; glorified; freed from the presence of sin)“We died with Christ, we were buried with Christ, and we have been raised with Christ and therefore will appear with Christ in glory.” -D MooHow does this present reality (Identity and union with Christ) reset our trajectory towards things above (eternity):Our hidden life in Christ:Signifies our personal relationship with Christ,Affirms our security of our salvation in Christ, andCertifies our glorious inheritance with Christ. Therefore, bothOur “hidden” life in Christ, andHis indwelling “life” in us will be fully revealed when he returns “in glory” (1 John 3:2)This future fulfillment of our current identity in Christ should redefine our purpose in multiple ways:The glory of Christ's return reminds us of there temporal nature of this world and the fleeting value of it's possessions and pleasures. Therefore, we shouldn't be deceived by vain pursuit of earthly wealth, achievement, status, or gratification. The certainty of Christ's return gives us assurance that allows us to live with confidence in a world filled with uncertainty. Therefore we can endure hardships and persevere by fixing our hope on the grace and glory tha twill be revealed at the coming of Christ. The imminence of Christ's return should motivate us to live with urgency.Christ brings hope and Christ brings judgmentThereforeWe anticipate eternal union with Christ butWe work urgently to lead others to come with usThereforeWe live as ambassadors of Christ asWe rest in the comfort of our eternal future with ChristThereforeWe celebrate his presenceHere and nowHereafter, but alsoWe live as citizens of heaven full ofHopeUrgency“…we should collectively seek and set our minds on things above that we share in common with other believers. We should live with holy anticipation of Christ's return as we celebrate our new life in him and devote ourselves to the mission of seeing others liberated from the bondage of sin to inherit the eternal promises of King Jesus!” P. 82Hughes' outline: Title: “The Seeking of Things Above”I. Instructions (Coaching) regarding our fullness (1-2)Seek is present (continuous) imperative (commanded). Therefore, a continuous command. How do we seek Christ?Kind of like you should seek your future husband or wife (not just a date):Pray for opportunities to be togetherGet to know them through conversationTreat them as you wish to be treated; love as you want to be loved (lust ≠ love)Serve themBe honest with themListening >> talking, but to talk is to be vulnerable, approachable; conversation should be like tennis. Return a returnable ball. Too many people just answer the other person's question. They rarely realize it's their turn to return with a question. We have an amazing lack of interest in other people. Love inquires. Love listens. Sermon Notes: Faith, Hope & Luck Starting point: What is the basis and foundation of your faith? If the foundation is not firm, your faith can change quite easily. Two examples of things that can influence your faith if its foundation is not firm: Lifestyle decisions. You live a lifestyle that is at odds with what you profess to believe, e.g. you are living in known sin. You will feel guilty and will either change your lifestyle to match your beliefs or you will start to justify your lifestyle (it is not really wrong; everyone is doing it etc) and in this way your beliefs will adapt to your lifestyle. People also compartmentalise their lives, e.g. dishonesty is wrong, but this does not apply in sport, when doing your taxes, etc. Unexplainable circumstances, e.g. bad things happening to true believers. If your faith is dependent on your ability to understand and explain your circumstances it is very fragile and really no different from the faith of the world / other religions. How is Biblical faith different? Heb 4:14 : “Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.” Biblical faith is in a Person Hebrews 12:1 – 3: “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” What Biblical Faith is not Faith is not A power or force Is not something separate from God Something that you can do or use to force God to do things A question of gritting your teeth and hanging on Thinking positively What faith is Hebrews 11:1 TNIV: “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see” Faith = hope + certainty The certainty is based on the promises of God The promises of God is the bridge from hope to faith Faith is not believing what God has not promised – that is presumption. For example, if your are acting irresponsibly, but expect God to protect you nonetheless, that is quite presumptuous of you. What faith is A gift – God supplies the faith you need [Eph 2:8]; faith is listed as one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit It seems that God does not expect us to always have perfect faith. Example: The father of a demon possessed child asks Jesus for help Mark 9: 23-24 Jesus said to him, "If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes." Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!"  And Jesus helped him. We said that the promises of God is the bridge from hope to faith. So, what has God promised? Let's start with what God has NOT promised. Healing for everyone. Example: At Bethesda [John 5:1-17], Jesus healed one of many sick. Jesus heals but did not promise that he will do it every time. To reverse the consequences of your bad decisions. He often protects you from the consequences of bad decisions, but has not promised to do it every time. In fact getting away with it is often bad for you – people pray fervently but when the crisis is past they do it again. They do not honour God or even associate the break with prayer. So nothing changed. Blessed Abraham, Solomon, Job and others with wealth but no promise that you can name it and claim it (apostles were quite poor). To keep bad things from happening to you. Many New Testament Christians were martyred (also Heb 11) What has God promised? John 6: 37 “… the one who comes to me I will certainly not cast out” (NASB) This is a firm promise for all people at all times What has God promised? Hebrews 4: 14 – 16 NIV: “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathise with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Mercy + Grace. He will sometimes deliver us from trouble, but if not, he will always deliver us through it Heb 13:5: For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you, nor forsake you” For this we can approach Him boldly and with confidence We can ask for anything, and God may sometimes it give it to us, but we can trust God for grace and mercy every single time.   What if God is silent or says no? Difference between hope and faith Hope = Here is what I want and I hope You will do it. Faith = Here is what I want and You promised to do it. You can have absolute faith and confidence in God when He has made a promise. Anything short of a promise is simply hope. God often gives what we hope for, but always gives what He promised. What if God is silent or says no? People often go away from God or lose faith The right reaction 2 Corinthians 12: 7 – 10 NIV: “Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, the messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “my grace is sufficient for you for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” God was silent for a period and Paul was kept in the dark as to why his request was not granted, despite his great faith. Then the answer is given in verse nine. The answer is “No, but I will give you the grace to endure.” When God says no we face a choice Rebel and walk away Then you also walk away from His empowering grace Then you have to handle the issue without God It makes things worse Lean into God Things may not get better physically, but… You will receive the grace to endure What is great faith? Great faith = Great surrender John 5: 30 NIV: “By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgement is just, for I seek not to please myself but Him who sent me.” John 6: 38: “For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of Him who sent me.” If you believe God is a loving Father who knows best and can be trusted, why would you have your own agenda? That is illogical. Surrendering to God and going His way is simply the logical way to live your life. Surrender leads to more faith – it creates the heart condition where the Holy Spirit can bless us with more faith What does God want done? 1 John 5: 14: “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: That if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.” Same with John 14:12 -13. What does God want done in your marriage, community, finances, et cetera? Regarding faith that can move mountains (Matt 14:20) the first question is whether God wants the mountain moved. Discern God's plan and get in line with it Why don't we? Many prefer a “manageable” God and want to pick and choose where they want God to involved What if you don't know if God will? Luke 5: 12: “While Jesus was in one of the towns a man came along who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged Him: “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” Note that the leper believed that Jesus could and hoped that He was willing. The leper only needed that faith – he did not need certainty that Jesus would. Sometimes God is willing now, sometimes later, sometimes not at all. He can say “no” because of things He knows and you don't, things you may never know. God is still God even if he does not grant your request. You are still His beloved child; He sent his Son to be your forever saviour. He still loves you. God is your Father. You can ask God anything. He will do everything He has promised. Bottom Line We can ask God anything. He will answer many of our requests, even those not based on a promise. He will keep ALL His promises. Saving Faith Have you responded to God's most important promise? Have you accepted Christ as savior and Lord, i.e. do you know for a fact that if you die you will go to heaven? If not why not? There are basically only two reasons why someone has not yet accepted Christ as Saviour and Lord You don't know if the whole thing is true (you're uncertain that it is). You hear Christians talk about it, but if you look at how they live you are not sure that you can believe them. You may even not ne sure that God exists. You want to be in control / unwilling to surrender   If you are truly uncertain God does not mind The important question is what would you do, if you were convinced [Tozer]? If something happens and suddenly you were certain that God exists, that Jesus Christ is His Son, that He loves you, that He died on the cross for you. If you were truly certain of that, what would your reaction be? If you can honestly say that if you were certain of all that you would accept Him as Lord and Saviour and would surrender your life to Him – then you're almost there. Ask God to reveal Himself and convince you; and if you are honest that if you are convinced then you will surrender to God you can expect God to reveal Himself to you. Go and read the gospel of John with an open mind. Be honest with God. Just don't prescribe to God how He should reveal Himself. If you want to be in control There is a difference between wanting to be in control and actually being in control. If you know the truth, but refuse to act on it because you don't want to surrender, you want to decide, etc. you are in a very dangerous place Unlike the truly uncertain person you can't expect God to reveal Himself, if you will not react to it (why should He speak if you already decided you won't listen?) God keeps calling, and His grace and mercy is still available – but it will not be forever Closing prayer

The Main Point of Deuteronomy 8:1-10: God uses temporary trials to bestow never-ending rewards upon His people. (Sadly, the record of the Old Testament - and, of our own lives - is that we shunt God's grace time and time again. We want comfort/satisfaction here and now, on our terms - even if that means missing the eternal rewards that can only be found in Him). Matthew 4:1-4: Verses 1-2: Jesus stands in the place of God's people - he went to where they had failed. Verse 3: Jesus encountered the same temptation as we often face - to be ruled by an appetite for an otherwise good thing (i.e. bread), rather than to submit our desires for the Spirit's examination. This temptation came from "the devil," not from God. Just because we want something or feel that something is true about us, doesn't automatically mean that our desire is from the Lord! Verse 4: Jesus did what we don't do - he faithfully submitted to the will of the Father. The Gospel: Jesus stood in our place not to gain a greater reward (for he already had a full and rightful claim upon every spiritual blessing!), but in order to share the fullness of heaven's blessing with undeserving sinners like us! How then shall we live? Live for the greater reward! Somehow, some way, Heaven will be sweeter (for eternity!) through the trials we suffer on Christ's behalf here-and-now. (See 1 Corinthians 3:5-9).

This first episode is very special. We were very grateful to get an interview with the amazing Anna McKeyEva, from the Sunny Bards group in Russia. They perform all over Russia and other countries, on Kin's Domain settlements, singing beautiful songs of joy and love to the people. We met in Russia, on the Vedrussia settlement, during a performance of hers. It was fantastic, and she asked me if I ever did anything in the USA, to please let her know. So for our reader's gathering (in NYC on May 20, 2018), I knew we had to have her! She graciously said yes, and after a full day of singing, dancing, and discussions at our gathering, she stuck around with me to do an interview. Today, Anna and I (Gabriel) dive into: - What Co-Creation means to us and other readers - Being the "hands and feet" of God - Things to consider when creating Kin's Domains + more! In this episode of The Happy Rant Ted, Ronnie, and Barnabas cover a huge range from the most (genuinely) serious to the ranty and absurd. The church's response the events in Charlottesville, both good and bad How should we respond to racial conflict and overt racism? What exactly is a "God thing" and why to Christians insist on using this phrase? Is "self-care" a good thing? Is it just another excuse to be self-absorbed?

Pastor Jamie is starting a new series about Risk. Bravery leads us to risk. Risk is Orville and Wilber Wright spending their hard earned money to build an airplane when human flight was impossible. Risk is a Christian choosing to go and live in a country that is not safe for Christians and to share the story of Jesus. Risk is saying no to good things so you can say yes to God-Things. There are thousands of ways to take kingdom risks, great and small and I want you to know this: God wants you to take risks with your life. And I hope that you will be empowered and emboldened to take these risks by what we share in the next weeks. So let’s start by defining risk. Risk is an action that exposes you to the possibility of injury or loss

A daily devotional through the recorded words Jesus spoke while He walked alongside us. Our website http://alittlewalkwithgod.com. Today's Scripture Focus Matthew 14:18 devotional summary We don't admit that we can't handle the problem. We don't admit that a task is too hard for us without God's help. We plow in headstrong and find ourselves with mild concussions after beating our head against that wall that just won't budge. Still we don't come to the source of power. We keep trying to plow through. Jesus says to us today, take what you have and give it to Me. Then watch what I will help you do with it. You'll be in awe and those around you will, too. Give what you have to Me then get ready to work because God things are about to happen. Today's Bible reading plan: Read it in a year - Exodus 1-4 see the whole year's plan here

Jin H. Cho Fourth Week of Lent "Think of the self that God has given as an acorn. It is a marvelous little thing, a perfect shape, perfectly designed for its purpose, perfectly functional. Think of the grand glory of an oak tree. God's intention when He made the acorn was the oak tree. His intention for us is '... the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.' Many deaths must go into our reaching that measure, many letting-goes. When you look at the oak tree, you don't feel that the loss of the acorn is a very great loss. The more you perceive God's purpose in your life, the less terrible the losses seem." - Elizabeth Elliot
