It’s okay to be honest. It’s okay to work with those who have differing viewpoints. It’s okay to make mistakes. Music is far more useful than most people understand. Emotional intelligence is just the tip of the iceberg. Music is an under-appreciated gateway to spirituality. What does all of this mean? Find out on this podcast. Our guests are John Krotec, a serial entrepreneur and visionary behind GreenZone Hero, Hashtag Planet and Straight Outta Combat Radio, along with Bill Protzmann, Consulting Educator, Music Care Inc.
John T. Krotec is an entrepreneur, speaker, writer, and U.S. Army veteran. After college, he went to work in corporate America and realized that despite doing well in the job, he wanted something more. He joined the Army later in life with the purpose of serving his nation. The Army taught him discipline and how to value himself. After three years of Active Duty, he left the Army and returned to civilian life. It was then that he got reacquainted with his future wife, helping her to raise a family. Together they also successfully ran a business for over two decades, selling travel gear and clothing. In 2012, John hit rock bottom and survived a traumatic brain injury caused by an alcohol-fueled traffic accident. This unleashed his demons and forced him to finally cope with the trauma he experienced at a young age. Over this time, he almost lost his marriage and family. With months of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Hemp-Based Pharmaceutical (CBD) treatment, he developed his own healing system by using creative pursuits for coping with trauma and saving his marriage in the process. John is currently involved with several creative businesses and holistic healing pursuits, which include; GreenZone Hero, Straight Outta Combat Radio, Task Force Zen Journeys, What’s your Apocalypse, and his new series of poetry books titled Fractals. Our guest for this episode of Straight Outta Combat radio (Audi-Medicine by GreenZone Hero) is US Army veteran and serious dog-training expert and sage, Mr. Ryan Matthews. I actually met Ryan a few weeks ago at the Podfest Multimedia Expo in Orlando. We were on the same discussion panel…and let me tell you, Ryan has a serious positive mojo going on. Ryan has been training dogs since 2002. He began his career in dog training with training and handling elite Military Workins Dogs (a.k.a. MWDs). While in the Army, he performed bite protection training, bomb threat sweeps, secret service missions, and combat deployment to Iraq (with his MWD, Zito) where he worked with Special Forces and Infantry units. After transitioning, Ryan Founded and is the Head Dog Trainer of the ‘World of Dog Training’. Ryan takes a personalized approach with every sing dog he trains. He’s all heart and then some. He’s working on projects to incorporate some of his canine-training techniques into the corporate human world.

In this episode we talk with U.S. Army Veteran, CEO of GreenZone Hero, Podcast host of Straight Outta Combat and our friend Mr. John Krotec. John brings a wealth of knowledge to the Heroes Community. GreenZone Hero is a business directory, a community online, of companies that Honor Freedom. We also talk about his podcast show […]
John Krotec is the founder of GreenZone Hero, an innovative company that changes the way that American businesses view veteran-commerce. Additionally, his Task Force Zen project (currently in the planning stage) will help those who suffer from traumatic events find programs that will help them recover without the stigma often associated with trauma. Furthermore, he is the host of the Straight Out Of Combat Podcast. John Krotec – Foundational Path John went about things differently than most. He went to college first and although his dad was in the service for 28 years John had no intent to go into the military. For that reason, John earned a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from Florida State University. At the age of 27, John made the decision to make a change and enlisted in the Army. He was assigned to the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson in a nuclear biological chemical company serving as decon for the 3rd brigade. John served for 3 years. He did not have a real plan once he got out of the Army. John was painting houses on the beach and contemplating starting his own business. He was asked to come back but the Army was not taking anyone with prior service. John re-enlisted in the Army Reserve. The transition fell into place with no real plan. “We say you gotta have a plan. Sometimes you do, sometimes you don’t. If your heart is in the right place sometimes things just fall into the right place.” – John Krotec Healing the Pain At 11 years old while on a neighborhood sleepover, John was assaulted by an older boy. Blaming himself and frightened by physical threats, John hid the traumatic event for over 40 years never talking about it with anyone. Periodically over that time, he used alcohol to soothe his pain and to numb himself from the sickening memory. An automobile accident in 2012 caused the trauma to resurface. Immediately after the accident, John’s life began to spiral out of control. Episodes of anger and resentment led to the selling of his small business and to the disintegration of his 20-year marriage. John was out of control. His overspending and anger led his wife Ann to begin divorce proceedings. Consequently, by Christmas of 2015, John was in a crisis situation. One particularly bad evening, he sought help from a suicide prevention hotline which led him to individual counseling and 41-weeks of Cognitive Behavior Therapy. He also visited a neurologist who was able to treat his medical condition, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) with CBD’s, hemp-based prescription drugs. “To hear the human side of what these men and women did and where they came from and how they were able to overcome the things that they witnessed, the things they took part in and the traumas they escaped and make that transition is the most inspirational thing I have ever done in my life.” – John Krotec Podcasting is Storytelling John believes that podcasting is an amazing platform to connect people and impart wisdom. Sharing traumatic stories to help each other. Using technology through an incredible venue to tell their story and as a result shows our combat veterans that they are not alone. “Story telling is the human connection.”- John Krotec To hear the rest of John Krotec’s transition from the Army to starting his own business and becoming an entrepreneur, download and listen to the rest of the episode. FREEDOM! We all want it. People fight for it. They live and die for it. So, we must all know what it is. The truth is that if you ask one hundred people to define freedom, you will get one hundred different answers. All of them are valid. All of them are right. The guest on today’s podcast is John Krotec, a man who is passionate about freedom. He’s an entrepreneur, writer, and army veteran. He gained his understanding of freedom by fighting tough battles in his own life and winning. His journey highlights the theme of this show, Change Your Story, Change Your Life. When John abused alcohol, he had to change his story. When he suffered a brain injury in a car crash, he had to change his story. When his marriage was on the rocks, he had to change his story. He did it every time and grew into the inspiring person he is today. You’ll gain a lot by listening to John’s story. You’ll learn what it really mens to be bigger than your circumstances. You’ll come away with a greater appreciation for a business model that marries contribution and profit. John created a company based on that model called Greenzone Hero. It honors and supports veterans who fought for our freedom. Greenzone Hero also gives veterans a platform to share their stories. You’ll tap into your innate sense of compassion for war veterans who have sacrificed their well being and their lives to create more freedom and abundance for all of us. John may even ignite a new entrepreneurial flame in you that can enrich your business, your life, and the lives of others.
