“So I got involved in YouTube first, uh, in ‘06, and then audio, I got involved in 2012. I started, like, paying attention in 2013, um, the summer of 2013. I really got heavily in podcasting ‘cause I saw the opportunity and what it could do for people. And like you said, I love voice. It's a much more nuanced form of communication, but it's so profound ‘cause, right now, um, even today, even though I think people should have a video component of some sort, when you look at people's stats, the people that listen to audio are much more engaged in that show than the people that watch the video.” – Chris KrimitsosThis episode's guest has been successfully growing Podfest Multimedia Expo from what started as a meetup at a local café in 2013 to an international conference with more than three thousand registrants. Content creators have benefited from his knack for community building as they build relationships, their podcasts, and YouTube channels through the platforms he's provided. These experiences, whether in-person or virtual, are built on his experience as the creator of over two thousand live events in his professional career. As a trendsetter, he quickly identified podcasting's popularity and responded with a 2017 documentary about the evolving medium called The Messengers: A Podcast Documentary. The film has been placed on YouTube for global distribution after having initially been released on Amazon, where he also had his book, Start Ugly: A Timeless Tale About Innovation & Change, hit #1 in the categories of Business Leadership and HR.His name is Chris Krimitsos, and in this conversation, we find out more about how he decided podcasting would be such a big thing, what it takes to put together a conference of Podfest's size, and where he thinks this medium will take us into the future. He recalls growing up in the early days of podcasting and talks about how YouTube, Bluetooth, and even the automobile industry all helped shape the course of podcast history. “That eight-year lag between [having] the Bluetooth device in the car and the Bluetooth on your phone to match up,” he explains, “it gave YouTube and on-demand video about an eight-year head start.” We discuss whether podcasting might eventually replace radio altogether, and its advantages over the increasingly commercialized streaming video landscape. “You might have some ads in the front,” he says about podcasts, “but you listen to a person's voice and you're not necessarily scrolling for the next audio show. You're committed to that show for that half hour.”(0:11:24) - Podcast Platform Dominance ConversationOur discussion turns to which platforms are dominating the market these days and where podcasters should...

Episode 399 - Sara Lohse - Author of Open This Book, the art of storytelling for aspiring thought leadersAbout the authorSara Lohse is a storyteller, marketer, and brand architect with a knack for turning narratives into connections. Through Favorite Daughter Media, Sara uses her passion and talent to help mission-driven brands amplify their impact, proving that authentic storytelling and strategic marketing go hand in hand. Sara's work and expertise, featured on conference stages including FinCon, PodFest Multimedia Expo, and Speakonomics and in publications such as Authority Magazine, showcase her as a gifted creator fueled by passion and caffeine, dedicated to making a difference through powerful storytelling and marketing.Open This Book: The Art of Storytelling for Aspiring Thought LeadersEverybody has a story. They just don't know it yet.Ever think that silly story you tell to break the ice could actually be a breakthrough for your career? Welcome to Open This Book: The Art of Storytelling for Aspiring Thought Leaders, where we're ditching the textbook definitions and embracing storytelling as the heart of authentic leadership. This isn't your average "how-to" guide. Imagine it as a heart-to-heart with a friend who's seen their fair share of life's plot twists and learned how careful word choice and a smooth delivery can turn chaos into clarity and mishaps into powerful messages.Because the secret to being a thought leader–a content creator, podcaster, speaker, author–is knowing how to transform those "just another day" experiences into an arsenal for connecting in a world that's scrolling past the same old content.Open This Book is your backstage pass to understanding why storytelling isn't just for the Shakespeares and Spielbergs of the world. Designed as part book, part journal (but no part textbook), this book is for anyone who's ever had a “you can't make this up” moment (and let's be honest, who hasn't?). From crafting your narrative to delivering it in a way that feels like a mic drop, we'll explore the ins and outs of telling stories that connect, challenge, and change the game of leadership. So, if you're ready to turn your misadventures into your mission statement, you've come to the right place. Because if there's one thing I've learned, it's that the best stories are hiding in plain sight—they just need a little nudge (or a full-on shove) into the spotlight. This isn't just about finding your voice; it's about discovering that your voice, quirks and all, is exactly what the world's been waiting to hear. What are you waiting for? Before becoming a champion for the podcasting industry, Larry Roberts had dreams of becoming a martial arts champion. A child of the '80s and a fan of “The Karate Kid,” ninjas and the movies of Jean-Claude Van Damme and Steven Segal, he vigorously pursued karate and, later, mixed martial arts. That dream was crushed by limitations from a birth defect that should have killed him by age 4 but didn't. He replaced his pursuit of sports glory with a vigorous pursuit of drinking and partying. By the time he turned 40, he was stuck in a dead end job and deep in alcoholism and felt like life was pointless. But at 41, he reached out for help and went to rehab. Today, he works as hard as he ever did, but now it's to elevate podcasters instead of crushing opponents. Everyone wants to belong. According to Jermaine Moore, to feel welcome, respected, seen, and heard, comes second only to our human desire to be loved. That's why Jermaine, a father of four, has devoted his career to teaching and training business leaders on the vital importance (and proven benefits) of prioritizing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the workplace, while also teaching young people, including his own children, the true value of empathy. Jermaine joins the Modern Dadhood conversation to share some wisdom about DEI, raising empathetic children, and why he's so encouraged by today's youth. Episode 77 of Modern Dadhood opens with a brief catch-up between hosts Adam Flaherty and Marc Checket. The guys announce they'll be at Podfest Multimedia Expo 2023 in Orlando in January, where Adam will present a breakout session on the use of video to promote podcasts. The guys briefly discuss the excitement (and stress) about the upcoming holidays, before welcoming Jermaine Moore into the conversation. Jermaine is Co-Founder of the Mars Hill Group, a New England-based consulting firm which specializes in leadership training, workplace culture, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Jermaine is a father of four children who are currently scattered across the world, and he shares candidly about what led him to this line of work, why it's so important and valuable, and how we as parents can actively exercise it and celebrate it within our families in order to raise empathetic kids. The conversation covers topics including:• What is DEI? If you've been considering attending the annual Podfest conference (happening Jan 26-29, 2023), tune in to hear from founder Chris Krimitsos all about what to expect as a first-time attendee, how you can still participate with a tight budget, how to make the most out of your time onsite, what makes Podfest different than any other industry event, and so much more!Chris Krimitsos has cemented his place in emerging technologies, as evidenced by his success with Podfest Multimedia Expo, a global podcasting event that set back-to-back world records. Chris has successfully grown Podfest to an international conference with upwards of 3,000 registrants, from what started as a meetup at a local café in 2013. Specializing in emerging technologies - from blockchain to NFTs to cryptocurrency, podcasting, and on-demand audio - and having created over 2,000 live events throughout his career (so far), Chris is a leading go-to innovator who continues to give a voice to the global creator community.GO TO PODFEST:WHEN: Jan 26-29, 2023WHERE: Orlando, FLLINK: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/podfest-expo-2023-tickets-400301762347?discount=Angie DISCOUNT: Use code ANGIE for 10% OFFCONNECT FURTHER WITH CHRIS:https://chriskrimitsos.com https://podfestexpo.com (code ANGIE for 10% OFF)IG (Personal): https://www.instagram.com/chriskrimitsos IG (Podfest): https://www.instagram.com/podfestexpoFACEBOOK GROUP: https://www.facebook.com/groups/podfest PODFEST NEWSLETTER: https://podfestexpo.com PODCAST NEWS: https://www.podfestmessenger.comCONNECT FURTHER WITH ANGIE:Podcast: https://www.yougetwhatimsaying.com Listen Early and Dynamic Ad-Free on Apple Podcasts: https://apple.co/44Y6rbYSocial Media: https://beacons.ai/theactualangie/socialmedia Contact: yougetwhatimsaying.podcast@gmail.com Monetize Your Podcast: https://beacons.ai/theactualangie/monetizeSupport the Show: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/yougetit/membershipADVERTISE ON THE SHOW: To inquire about host-read ads or to become the show's next Presenting Sponsor, please send an email to yougetwhatimsaying.podcast@gmail.com.EPISODE CREDITS:Podcast Logo: Abby MurdockPodcast Cover Photography: April Bowers CreativeBE ADVISED:Formerly titled Podfluencer Society (for before that, 4 Things For Your Podcast), episodes 1-114 share insights and strategies specifically for podcasters. Episode 203: You've got a great idea. It's something you're passionate about, and you can't wait to get started. But then doubt sets in. You start worrying that you're not good enough, that someone else has already done it better, or it costs too much and it's just not worth the effort. Before you know it, your idea is collecting dust, and you feel frustrated and stuck. Most successful people didn't become successful by waiting for the perfect opportunity or the perfect idea. They took action on their ideas, even if they weren't perfect, and learned as they went along. In this episode, Author, Entrepreneur, Community Builder and ever-evolving Innovator Chris Krimitsos, took time out of his busy schedule at FinCon22 to sit down with me to share his thoughts. Chris shared his perspective on the differences between a want-eprenuer and an entreprenuer. We explore the dangers of comparing yourself to others. And we delve into the importance of being honest with yourself as an innovator and how it is an essential factor regardless of how uncomfortable it feels. Chris Krimitos is the founder of the Podfest™ Multimedia Expo, an international conference, providing content creators with opportunities to build relationships and their podcasts/YouTube channels. Chris has also made it into the book of Guinness World Records™ two years in a row as he championed the largest attendance for a virtual podcasting conference in a week. It's time to break free from the chains of perfectionism that are holding you back. Start ugly and see how much more fun and growth you can experience. Buy Chris's book, Start Ugly, today to find out how! And if you are a content creator, go and grab your ticket to Podfest Multimedia Expo in Orlando, Florida USA, Jan 26-29 2023. When listening to a podcast, do you ever wonder how the host found their guest? I had the pleasure of sitting down with the founder and owner of Interview Connections, Jessica Rhodes. Jess, her business partner, and the whole team at Interview Connections, are who you want in your corner when you want to expand your brand through podcasting. Whether you are just starting out or you are a veteran podcaster, she is dishing out all the tips on how to grow your podcast and business. About the Guest: Jessica Rhodes is the leading expert on how to leverage podcast guesting for increased brand awareness, more leads and higher profits. She created the podcast booking industry in 2013 when she founded Interview Connections, the first and leading agency of its kind. Along with her business partner, Margy Feldhuhn, Jessica has quickly scaled Interview Connections to over $1M in annual revenue with nearly no direct marketing or advertising. Their team of in house Booking Agents are the podcast powerhouses behind many successful entrepreneurs and businesses including Ali Brown, Perry Marshall, Aweber, USA Financial and more. Jessica has done hundreds of podcast interviews both as a guest, and co-host of Monetize the Mic. She is the acclaimed author of Interview Connections: How to #RockThePodcast From Both Sides of the Mic and has been a featured speaker at Podfest Multimedia Expo and FinCon. www.interviewconnections.com www.facebook.com/InterviewConnectionsPage/ www.instagram.com/interviewconnections/ twitter.com/monetizethemic www.linkedin.com/company/interviewconnections/ About the Host: Following the crumbs in the chaos is a full time job. As a busy mom of three, a wife to a traveling hubby, and keeping it weird in Austin, Texas, it's safe to say that my life is never boring. In addition to running my coaching business as C'N'C's CEO, I'm a certified coach for a premier virtual fitness and nutrition program helping others feel better while sustaining a healthy lifestyle. My mom and dad are thrilled that I'm putting my Exercise Science degree to good use. Along with my experience training pro athletes, S.W.A.T. members, and a high school football team, I gained 10+ years experience as the Director of Marketing building multiple court reporting companies. Lastly, I am a published writer, Content Coordinator, and Account Executive for a publication by Best Version Media. They even gave me a monthly “How to” column where I teach others how to be more self-sufficient with common household tasks. Every woman should know how their home functions and what to do if something malfunctions, man or no man. With my husband on the road, searching “How To” on the internet has transformed me into a “Mommy MacGyver”. “I don't know how you have the time.” “You're like a Supermom!” These are common things that people say, but the truth is that life hasn't always been easy or pretty. Even with the bumps, I always try to find the humor in everything because laughter is good for the soul and you should never take life too seriously….where's the fun in that? www.chaosncookies.com https://www.instagram.com/heathersteinker https://www.facebook.com/heathersteinker https://linktr.ee/hsteinker https://chaosncookies.com/shop Thanks for listening! Social PR Secrets: public relations podcast for entrepreneurs by Lisa Buyer
How can you start your podcast? What role does podcasting play in PR? What’s the best way to run virtual events? Podcasting pro and event-planning mastermind Chris Krimitsos shares all of his secrets on how to keep producing content during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this episode of the Social PR Secrets Podcast, host Lisa Buyer talks with Chris Krimitsos. Chris is the Chief Creative Officer and founder of Podfest Multimedia Expo. The event attracts content creators from around the world to share their expertise while learning from the best educators in the field of podcasting, YouTube, blogging, live streaming, and more. Chris is also the author of Start Ugly: A Timeless Tale About Innovation & Change. If you want to learn more about the world of podcasting and large-scale events, whether in-person or virtual, this episode is for you. The Art and Science of Podcasting Chris started the Florida Podcast Association in 2013. As his monthly workshops began growing, he realized podcasting was really on the rise. Out of those workshops came PodFest. The event started with 100 attendees in its first year and saw 2,000 people in attendance for the 2020 edition. About PodFest, Chris writes, “It's where the community merges their thoughts, hopes, ideas, and dreams. Whether Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced, this event sees independents and change-makers of all shapes, sizes, colors, interest groups, and locales unite!” In our episode, Chris explained he always allows PodFest to grow, and he follows where it wants to go. Talk about organic strategies! When it comes to creating a podcast, Chris emphasizes the importance of strategy. But he also says that art and science intersect. So figuring out what your art is is also of utmost importance. “How are you functionalizing your art? Too many people copy but don’t functionalize who they are into their art,” he says. One of the critical elements of podcasts is sound design. Ask yourself: how am I designing a sound that will create an experience? Trends in Podcasting When asked how podcasts got so big, Chris says that creators got so corporatized by radio and TV. In turn, podcasting allowed the unleashing of what used to happen before the radio was still an art form. Podcasts also give creators the ability to reach a specific audience and do something different. The possibilities are endless. That’s why Chris’ main tip for people thinking about podcasting is Try it Out. Experiment instead of thinking about it, because that’s where you lose the most time. Just try your idea out, see how you like it, and understand that it might not be for you. If it’s not, it can be a first step towards the project that will work out. During the COVID-19 pandemic, many content creators came online, turned to podcasting to do outreach, and build a brand. Chris says that a lot of them are here to stay. He also explains that podcasters who got started a while ago could keep a stable flow of income during the pandemic because podcasts are fully run online. In terms of overall trends, Chris reveals that advertising money will be
Episode #041We come to you LIVE from Podfest Global Summit 2020, which was 100 percent virtual and hilarious!Only hours after we recorded this episode, Chris Krimitsos announced that they had broken the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS record for the Largest Attendance for a Virtual Podcasting Conference in One Week (5,000+)! How's that for timing?!Tim and Kyle get into the experience we've had over the past week. What did we learn?Tim shares how virtual events involve time zones and you can now meet people from other countries.Kyle talks about how he likes the virtual better… and that he needs a hug.Tim explores how different people are online and attending from their homes. We get into how virtual connection makes people more vulnerable or feel safe because they can come and go at will.Kyle gets into how to sift through the massive amount of content or try to pick between information tracks.Tim and Kyle explain the “un-conference” conference and how virtual applications can recreate the hallway-track experience.Tim talks about mini-cons and how Podfest has become more than just a single-topic conference.Tim teases out that Libsyn.com will be releasing a new interface called Libsyn 5 and their upcoming Beta Test.Tim is looking forward to Libsyn.com swag that may include a chocolate microphone one day.Kyle asks you to go to schoolofpodcasting.com and ask Dave Jackson to be your coach as part of our help “Dave's Moving Expenses” non-campaign campaign drive. We know that our show will come out right as Podfest Global Summit is ending but you can still get a ticket to watch all the videos AND be a part of the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title until August 16th, 2020.Kyle gives listener Cliff a very personal “Call To Action” based on lessons learned from Podfest Global Conference.Tim and Kyle share how podcasting is a common ground that makes very different people friends.Kyle has a “Yoda-Kyle” moment and Tim thinks it needs to be a new segment of the show.Tim makes not one, not two, but THREE predictions after attending this conference for a week (see below).Because of all the predictions, Tim is now Tim “POD-stradamus” Brien!Behind the ScenesAfter we recorded this episode, we lost Tim's side of the conversation! This is where Kyle learned that Squadcast.fm can recover web recordings using their “backup” feature. They are not pretty and the audio is completely out-of-sync… but it is better than having to re-record everything.Working with un-synced audio is very painful, but so is losing it all. So remember this: Two is one and one is none.Always have a backup … and now you know!Join us at Podfest Global SummitSimply stated, Podfest Global Summit is an extension of Podfest Multimedia Expo, one of the longest-running and tightest-knit communities of podcasters in the world! Podfest Expo is a community of people who are interested in and passionate about sharing their voice and message with the world through the powerful mediums of audio and video. We're proud to unite as many people as possible to learn, get inspired, and grow better together. On top of the quality content and camaraderie that PODFEST has become famous for over the years, we are also attempting the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the Largest Attendance for a Virtual Podcasting Conference!Quotes“All life is an experiment. I'm delighted to be speaking to another amazing entrepreneur today! Chris Krimitsos is the creator of the Podfest Multimedia Expo. And he is joining me today to share some funny and inspiring stories, and to talk about podcasting, his take on entrepreneurship, and his new book, Start Ugly: A Timeless Tale About Innovation and Change. Chris's bio Chris Krimitsos is a speaker, a business leader, and a source for growth. He uses his unique skill set to bring the perspective of success from both sides of an event and to empower his audiences towards greater opportunities for succeeding in business. He is a passionate professional who is driven to make a difference, and he has been described as a changemaker, a motivator, and an inspiration. Chris truly understands the kinds of challenges that event organizers face, having facilitated more than 2000 events himself, under the umbrella of Tampa Bay Business Owners, which he founded in 2008. The success of that organization, regionally, helped Chris with the launching of a national event, the Podfest Multimedia Expo, which he managed to grow to over 975 attendees in just five years, due to his skillful way of communicating key messaging to the podcast community. Earlier in his career, Chris hosted and produced two TV shows, and one of his projects has been archived in the Library of Congress. Currently, he is making a global impact as a filmmaker and producer under the CK Productions banner, after having successfully created the documentary The Messengers: A Podcast, which obtained worldwide distribution and theatrical screenings. Chris is currently President of the Entrepreneurs' Organization (EO) Tampa. Becoming infamous Chris grew up in New York. He moved to Florida, looking for the freedom to express his ideas. He had always wanted to create a television show, and soon after he finally got the chance to do that, a physical fight broke out between two guests on his live television talk show. The footage got leaked to the press, and Chris landed up in trouble with the management of the TV station. Although nothing like that ever happened again, that incident set Chris on a course where he eventually got thrown off the TV station. Guerilla marketing Chris then created a business group. And in the early days, while trying to find speakers for his business group, Chris invested whatever money he had in paying speakers to come and speak. One of those speakers was Jay Conrad Levinson, the author of the book, Guerrilla Marketing. No money for marketing Chris loves marketing, so he assumed that everyone would know Jay Conrad Levinson, and at least 500 people would come and hear him speak. After paying him, however, Chris was left with no money for marketing, and very few people turned up to hear Jay Conrad Levinson speak. Filming a promo So Chris decided to film a promo for the book, Guerilla Marketing. And ironically, he ended up using the Guerilla Marketing technique to sell Jay Conrad Levinson's books! A life full of experiences and colorful characters A long time ago, Chris decided to fill his life with experiences and colorful characters. So he has lots of stories and colorful tales to share. Although he loves business, he's good at it, and he's interviewed many big Titans of business over the years, he has seen many of them doing the same thing over and over, for the last forty years or so, and that does not hold much interest to him. Unique people Chris is intrigued by unique people. And he loves events. Through his events, he has had the opportunity to create a lot of different experiences for himself and others, and he has also been able to meet lots of people and create lots of colorful stories. Lessons learned Chris has learned from all his experiences. From his experience with Guerilla Marketing, he learned that although he was paying far too much for speakers, he had still created a lot of value. And that experience also changed his philosophy on big-name speakers. Getting Gary Vee to Speak Chris was able to get Gary Vee to speak at his local event before Gary was a big deal, and he did it through a self-liquidating offer. Hear how he made it big even before he knew what the next big thing was. Functionalizing your art form Chris has also learned to functionalize his art form. He explains that functionalizing your art means getting to know how you work and then functionalizing it in a way that people can see it for your specific DNA, or blueprint. In that way, you can find the people who are the right fit for what you do, and you can grow from there. Community is Chris's specialty Chris has created his community and tribe over the years. And through that, he has seen that community is his specialty. This weeks guest is Chris Krimitsos, Author of Start Ugly. Chris joins us in this episode to have a conversation around this concept. Start ugly started in a business training Chris was holding when he was trying to get people to get over their fears of starting, he simply stated one day....."start ugly" and its been part of his trainings ever since. The book is intended to be read in a single sitting. It tells the fictional story about an established business man who ultimately loses his business to a younger man because he refused to adapt to the current climate and "start ugly" over when he needed to. I'm incredibly grateful for Chris, the time he spent with us, and the relatability of his message. He clearly finds purpose and fulfillment in his work and it shows. Chris is the founder and Chief Creative Officer of Podfest Multimedia Expo. He and his team have created a community of a few thousand people that are supportive of each others growth through sharing and collaboration.

I recently drove over an hour each way and paid to attend a luncheon on a subject matter I was really interested in. Only to find speakers with poor presentations. It was obvious that the promoters of the event did not work with the presenters to tailor their talk to the specific needs of the audience. It was also clear that they did not review the presenters slides prior to the luncheon. We've talked on this show about not doing boring presentations and incorporating gamification or hackathons into your events. If you haven't listened to these episodes I encourage you to go back and give them a listen. Today's guest is our first repeat guest. He is the Founder and Producer of Podfest Multimedia Expo, a rapidly growing niche conference held in Orlando Florida every March. He's also the author of the book Start Ugly-A Timeless Tale about Innovation and Change. He is a professional speaker, and the host of the Live Event Profits channel on YouTube. Chris Krimitsos is our guest, again, on the event producer podcast.

Mobile usage dominates social media and Facebook is no exception. That's why when you run ads you may notice that the Ads deliver most often to mobile placements. A couple weeks ago I spoke at Podfest Multimedia Expo on the topic of Facebook Ads for Podcasters and last week I dove into strategy #1 - leveraging Landing Pages to grow your podcast. This week I am going to dive into the 2nd strategy - segmenting your placements based on Apple and Android mobile usage. This is NOT exclusive to podcasters... this same strategy is essential for mobile app developers and hugely informative for ANY business. We'll also talk about Campaign Budget Optimization and some other tips for running successful Facebook Ads! Subscribe to the podcast today, so you don't miss another episode!
