2021 is winding down, and as we look forward to 2022, we're dipping back into the well of alternate reality Batmans (the proper plural), to look at three new takes on the character for the new year: one is a 60s more swinging but far more real (and bleaker) than the one from the classic TV show, one in the American Civil War and one who made a very different choice the night of his parents' murder. Happy New Year from Team BatChat! We look forward to much more Batman talk in the coming year. Thrillkiller (Thrillkiller # 1-3/Thrillkiller '62 # 1) The Blue, the Grey, and the Bat (Batman: The Blue, the Grey, and the Bat # 1) A Grim Knight in Gotham (The Batman Who Laughs: The Grim Knight # 1) Editor Matt's Note: Still some mic issues on my end this week. One more episode after this and things will be back to normal, I swear. Jace and Jay break down some DC books in depth with spoilers. They start with Wonder Twins #2 as it straddles the juggles the genres of humor, satire & all ages superheroes. With so many different thematic goals, can it accomplish any of them? Next up is The Batman Who Laughs: The Grim Knight #1. In writer Scott Snyder's own words, this is what happens when you cross Batman with the Punisher. It's safe to say all criminals better beware, but does his thirst for vengeance go beyond justice? Is this truly a tale of Bruce Wayne? Could this happen? Finally the guys finish up with an issue of the incredible Hawkman series from Robert Venditti. We've finally had a writer makes sense of all the convoluted history and continuity of Hawkman, even Jay who has dismissed Hawkman in the past for exactly those reasons is on board for this series. In this issue Hawkman's ancient past finally catches up with him, but he may have a very unique way of dealing with it. Carter Hall's answer to his problem is literally something no one else in the DC Universe could hope to accomplish. Great stuff!
In a change from our usual content Jason and Ian talk about rules for Magic and Speedsters which have been adapted from 2nd edition. They alao look at recent games on TTS. Finally we look at the Black Friday exclusive and review the Grim Knight
In this episode, Chris welcomes back Darrell AKA “Resident Darrell” from The Loot Bros Podcast to discuss one of his favorite comic book arcs, “The Batman Who Laughs”. Writer Scott Snyder and penciler Jock delve into the depths of madness as they explore one of the most terrifying villains that Batman has ever faced. “A Batman who laughs is a Batman who always wins." Half Batman. Half Joker. Combining everything that makes the Caped Crusader a hero and the Clown Prince a killer, the Batman Who Laughs is the Dark Multiverse's deadliest criminal mastermind. Now he's come to Gotham to turn Bruce Wayne's home into an incubator for evil. And he hasn't come alone. Emerging from another of the Dark Multiverse's myriad realities comes the Grim Knight. This vicious vigilante will use any weapon at his disposal to ensure those he has marked for death stay down. A war like no other--a war of the Batmen--has begun. As Batman's closest friends, deadliest enemies, and doppelgangers from across the Multiverse get caught in the crossfire, only one question remains: Who will have the last laugh? •Geek Ultimate Alliance on Twitter: @GUAPodNetworkWFTB on Twitter: @FinestBelieversWFTB Email: worldsfinesttruebelievers@gmail.comChris on Twitter: @ChrisBalgaThe Loot Bros Podcast on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-loot-bros-podcast/id1055551339 The Loot Bros Podcast on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1535797220071317/ 2236 Podcast on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/2236/id1498111898 Ninjaloot on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/officialninjalootmusic/

Hey guys! On this week’s episode we tackle the difference between a change in ideal vs a change in execution in The Batman Who Laughs: The Grim Knight #1 and witness the full transformation in Blackbird #6. But before we talk comics, we talk a bit about the state of the MCU, and discuss a bit about the veteran casts in the Avengers. We’re not quite sure how some of the veterans will end their MCU run, but we’re definitely putting our theories out there! For our coffee this week we have a brew Ardi roasted by Timbertrain Coffee Roasters. I’ll say this about this coffee, there were some surprise flavour notes that we would’ve never guessed. And even after the reveal, we still might not! What did you think about this episode? What do you think about the backstory of The Grim Knight? Do you believe the transformation in Blackbird is justified, or does it spell trouble? Let us know what you think! SUBSCRIBE TO THE SHOW!
