Recently, Haylie was named to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Roster where she will represent Team USA in the 2020 Olympic Games. She played four years at the University of Alabama where she was named an All-American four times and a finalist for Collegiate Player of the Year three times. Haylie has been selected to the United States National Team for the past seven years where she has won gold medals in World Championships, the Pan American Games, and the World Cup, hoping to finish it off with a gold medal in 2020. She was also a standout in the classroom, gaining three Academic All-American honors before graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in Human Performance and Exercise Science. Upon graduating from Alabama in 2016, Haylie completed a Master's degree in Exercise Physiology from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida in May of 2018. She has a passion for being in the weight room and making athletes better both on and off the field. Former Olympic Gold Medalist, Jessica Mendoza, sits down with outfielder Haylie McCleney to talk about her experience with Team USA.
McCleney finished the 2021 Athletes Unlimited season with 1710 points and was named Geico Defensive Player of the Year. She is a WBSC Women's World Championship gold medalist in 2016 and 2018 with Team USA. In 2018, she led the team in the tournament with a .520 average going 13-for-25, smashing two home runs and six RBIs. In 2014, she snagged a silver in the WBSC Women's World Championship. She was a gold medalist in the Pan American Games in 2019. She also won gold medals in 2014 and 2015 in the World Cup of Softball.
