"I love this sport and I love the people in it. I love the people I race against. I love all the fans. People are wonderful." Fresh off her U.S. Outdoor National Championships 10,000m win, fan favorite Emily Infeld returns to the Ali on the Run Show to talk about winning her first national title at age 35, 13 years into her professional career. Ten years ago, Emily made her first World Championships team, and went on to win a bronze medal in the 10,000m on the world stage. The next year, she made her first Olympic team, and competed at the Games in Rio. Then, Emily had a string of tough years and struggles, including injuries, surgeries, changing teams, changing coaches, changing locations, changing sponsors, and navigating a three-year ordeal with a stalker. Today, Emily is happy, healthy, and breaking the tape. She lives in Portland, OR, with her husband, Max. She's sponsored by Brooks, after 12 years with Nike. And she's coached once again by her college coach, Chris Miltenberg. In this conversation, Emily talks about what it took to unleash that kick in the homestretch and to break the tape at a National Championship. “Every year the top three resets. It doesn't matter what you did the previous year. If you need any more evidence than this 1500 final, then I don't know what to tell you. Everything is so cutthroat. Just getting on that top three was a big relief. I know that the big peak is coming in September, so I can live with this for now. Now I know where I'm at exactly.”My guest for today's episode is Cole Hocker, who is no stranger to championship moments. But even Olympic champions can go through droughts. Since winning gold in Paris last summer, Hocker hadn't claimed a single 1500 or mile final — 0-for-8 — in a year that's tested his patience, his poise, and his place in one of the most ruthless eras of middle-distance running. But in 2025, Hocker has also been focused on something new in taking on the 5000m. On Sunday, in the biggest 5K win of his career, he stormed down the Hayward Field homestretch to take the U.S. title in 13:26.45 — closing in 51.76 for the last lap, 25.69 for the final 200, and outkicking Olympic bronze medalist Grant Fisher and U.S. 10,000 champ Nico Young to punch his ticket to the World Championships in Tokyo. It wasn't flashy. It wasn't record-breaking. It was tactical execution — Hocker biding his time, slipping to fifth with 200 to go, and trusting that if the race came down to pure speed, he'd have the last word. And he did. With that win, the double dream is alive: Hocker will line up in both the 1500 and the 5000 at Worlds — just as he set out to do at the start of the year. He's stronger than last season, more confident than ever, and ready to see if that closing gear can stand up to the world's best in Tokyo. We talk about what it took to win this one, the mental discipline to ride out the noise of a long season while also focusing on the double, and why patience—even for an Olympic champion—combined with his supreme confidence makes him one of the most dangerous racers in the world.____________Host: Chris Chavez | @chris_j_chavez on InstagramGuest: Cole Hocker | @colehocker on InstagramProduced by: Jasmine Fehr | @jasminefehr on InstagramMentioned in this episode…Watch: USATF Championships men's 5000m finalWatch: USATF Championships men's 1500m final____________SUPPORT OUR SPONSORSOLIPOP: Straight out of Bikini Bottom, Olipop's limited edition SpongeBob cans have arrived. The most shocking 800 in US history? 16-year-old Cooper Lutkenhaus ran 1:42.27, four seconds faster than any high schooler ever, and almost beat Donavan Brazier, who completed his unbelievable comeback with the win. We try and breakdown Lutkenhaus's run and hopefully give enough love to Brazier's brilliance. Plus Yared Nugude and Josh Hoey suffered the devastation of USAs while Jonah Koech emerged, Cole Hocker did some Cole Hocker things and Sha'Carri Richardson was arrested en route. This week on group chat, we have Kofuzi, Lindsey Hein, Stef Flippin, and Peter Bromka talking all things USAs!

The first day of USAs delivered a little bit of everything regardless of your taste, showcasing track's shortest and longest events a few hours apart as reigning World champions Noah Lyles and Sha'Carri Richardson cruised through the 100m prelims and two first-time champions were crowned in the 10,000m.The stakes weren't exactly high in in the opening rounds of the 800m, where six of the eight entrants in each heat were guaranteed a spot in the semifinal, but nevertheless all eyes were on 2021 Olympic champ Athing Mu-Nikolayev as she races her way back into national contention following a devastating fall in the final of last year's Trials. So far, so good as Mu-Nikolayev picked up a heat win in a season's best 2:00.06… but the job gets harder from here, with competitors like Sage Hurta-Klecker, Addy Wiley, Ajee' Wilson, and defending champ Nia Akins looking strong. The 10,000m finals weren't blazing fast at first — they rarely are — but their conclusions were as dramatic as racing gets. Two first-time national champions were crowned, but their stories couldn't be more different: For Nico Young, it was the ascendance of a 23-year-old wunderkind who's done little but thrive since turning pro last summer. He took down reigning champ and Olympic bronze medalist Grant Fisher thanks to a 3:57.03 final 1600m and a 27-second final 200m. For Emily Infeld, however, her victory served as long-awaited just desserts for the 35-year-old workhorse who medaled in the event a decade ago, when Young was in middle school. While there were few surprises in the prelims, the outcomes in the finals were certainly unexpected. Let that be a reminder as you tune in and follow along over the next few days that anything can — and will — happen.__________Find everything you need to know about the 2025 USATF Outdoor Championships here:Subscribe: CITIUS MAG NewsletterRead: Distance previewRead: Sprints + hurdles previewRead: Throws + heptathlon previewRead: Jumps + decathlon preview__________SUPPORT OUR SPONSORSOLIPOP: Olipop is a prebiotic soda that tastes like a throwback to your favorite childhood drinks, but it's loaded with benefits that your body will thank you for. Emily Infeld is one of those runners you can't help but root for. The gritty but unflappably kind veteran of the sport has been kicking around USAs since 2010, and though she's had plenty of success along the way, including winning World bronze in 2015 and making the Rio Olympic team, she's never won a national title on the track — before yesterday. In recent years, Infeld has been defined by a series of injuries and coaching changes, leaving Bowerman Track Club in 2022 and shifting sponsors to Brooks. She made her most recent World team in 2022 but struggled at last year's Olympic Trials, finishing sixteenth in the 5000m, and generally speaking, a performance like that from a then-34-year-old at the end of an Olympic cycle tends to lead to retirement announcements. But Infeld is no quitter, and her race performance — a 31:43.56 10,000m victory outkicking 2023 champ Elise Cranny — showed her grit more than anything else.Hosts: Chris Chavez & Aisha Praught-LeerGuest: Emily InfeldProduced by: Mac Fleet & Jasmine Fehr__________Find everything you need to know about the 2025 USATF Outdoor Championships here:Listen: Day 1 Recap ShowSubscribe: CITIUS MAG NewsletterRead: Distance preview | Sprints + hurdles preview | Throws + heptathlon preview | Jumps + decathlon preview__________SUPPORT OUR SPONSORSOLIPOP: Olipop is a prebiotic soda that tastes like a throwback to your favorite childhood drinks, but it's loaded with benefits that your body will thank you for. Todas útiles, aunque no siempre precisas.

In a time of cultural divides and political tension, what is the church's role in bringing healing and truth to a fractured society? This episode dives into the complex intersection of faith, politics, and justice, exploring how Christianity can navigate today's challenges with humility, love, and a commitment to Jesus' teachings. The hosts reflect on the prophetic responsibility of naming reality, addressing idolatrous uses of faith in politics, and embracing cruciformity—a call to sacrificial living that resists cultural compromises. Drawing insights from Pastor Ara's compelling story and his courageous leadership amidst injustice, the discussion delves into the urgent need for the church to stand against systems of oppression while maintaining a posture of love and nonviolent resistance. From the misuse of scripture in political narratives to the dangers of intertwining faith with partisan ideologies, this conversation challenges Christians to reclaim the radical, inclusive power of the gospel. Join this thought-provoking dialogue as the hosts grapple with the church's responsibility to embody justice, resist cultural corruption, and remain a kingdom-focused community. We encourage you to share your thoughts and engage in this essential discussion on faith, theology, and navigating cultural issues. Together, we can pursue a deeper understanding of what it means to follow Jesus in these divided times. These mines are primarily located in western states, with Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Nevada, and Montana accounting for over 99% of domestic copper production. The tariff, announced to counter imports (primarily from Chile, Canada, and Peru, which supply over 90% of US refined copper imports), may incentivize domestic production but won't immediately resolve capacity issues. Posts on X suggest US producers might see fatter margins without significantly increasing output due to the time required to develop new mines (years) and smelting constraints. Current Production Capacity: In 2024, US copper mine production was approximately 1.17 million metric tons, a slight decline from previous years (1.3 million tons in 2022). Major producers like Freeport-McMoRan, Rio Tinto, and Grupo Mexico (Asarco) operate key mines such as Morenci (Arizona, 399,100 metric tons in 2023) and Kennecott (Utah, 169,300 metric tons in 2023). These mines are fully operational, but some face challenges like declining ore grades (averaging 0.4% copper compared to 0.6% in Chile) and labor shortages. : While the US has significant copper reserves (estimated at 48 trillion tons), production is limited by long permitting timelines (often decades), environmental regulations, and insufficient smelting/refining capacity. Only two primary smelters operate in the US (Rio Tinto's Kennecott and Freeport-McMoRan's Miami), and about 30% of mined copper is exported for processing due to this bottleneck.
