I'm really excited about my guest today. I got to host this interview in person at my house, which was really, really fun! Madie Boreman joins me after placing third and earning a bronze medal in the steeplechase at USAs, where she ran a huge PR of 9:17. Madie ran for CU, and before that, she was a Texas state champion. She tells us a story about running a 5:09 mile in sixth grade. What?! Crazy fast. After CU, she went on to run professionally and had a sponsorship with Oiselle for a while. Now she is an unsponsored athlete. You'll see her running in a Bandit kit right now, and she shares more about that in this episode. She also works full time, recently moved to Flagstaff, and continues to pursue her running dreams. Madie has competed in two Olympic Trials, in 2021 and 2024, in the steeplechase. She's coached by Julie Benson and has big dreams ahead of her. She told me in this episode that placing seventh at USAs was about where she thought she might land, and instead, she walked away with a bronze medal. So it's really, really exciting to see what's happening for her right now. She also recently won the Brooklyn Mile and is competing in the Sir Walter Miler. I'm so excited to share Madie's story with you, continue cheering for her, and see where this journey goes. Go give her a follow on social media and become a fan of hers throughout her running career. Please enjoy my conversation with Madie Boreman! Welcome back to The Insomnia Project, the sleep podcast made for anyone who's ever stared at the ceiling at 2am wishing someone would just talk them to sleep. If you're here to fall asleep, relax, or quiet a racing mind after a long day, you're in exactly the right place — Amanda and Marco are back with the penultimate episode of the season, and it's a slow, cozy one. This time the conversation starts small: what a perfect rainy day weekend actually looks like, and whether it's better spent doing absolutely nothing or puttering around the house. From there it drifts, as these things do, into dream boats — what kind they'd buy if money and moorage fees were no object — which somehow spirals into a full oral history of "jumping the shark," Fonzie, water skis, and the two of them earnestly debating whether this very episode might be the one where the podcast jumps the shark. It's meandering, a little silly, and exactly the kind of low-stakes tangent that's perfect for winding down.Whether you're drifting off tonight or just need something gentle in the background, this one's for you. What we talk about:The ideal rainy day weekend — plans vs. no plansDream boats and the fantasy of owning oneThe origin of "jumping the shark" and the Fonzie episode that started it allWhether a 26-minute sleep podcast can, in fact, jump the sharkSeason wrap-up energy as we approach the finaleComfort in repetition and low-stakes nostalgia talkThis episode is perfect for:Falling asleep to a calm, familiar conversationRainy day listening, fittingly enoughFans of nostalgic pop culture tangentsAnyone who needs a mundane, meandering distraction from a racing mindLong-time listeners riding out the season with usAs always, The Insomnia Project is here for the nights when your brain won't quiet down — mundane conversation, gentle pacing, and nothing you need to remember in the morning. The targets were the Striker-12, the Street Sweeper, and the USAS-12. The Striker and Street Sweeper used revolving cylinders. The USAS-12 was a semi-auto, magazine-fed shotgun. I might be on vacation, but Des and Kara are not! Fresh off her birthday, Des opens the show and is ready to roll. They catch up on July birthdays and life before digging into ALL of the angles of the latest controversial topic in track and field - new "rules" on camera angles for track and field telecasts. This is a topic that is not straightforward, and Des and Kara cover all of the nuances of it. I think you will find their discussion both funny and interesting! What do you think of the new guidelines? Then, they break down some of the key races from USA Champs, spending the most time on the 1500s and 10,000s in particular. It was great to see the events at a new venue in NYC, but was this the right year for a change? All hail Nikki Hiltz and their US title streak! Plus, were the 10K racing styles doing the distance any favors or not? Or maybe it doesn't matter? It was a great year for some fresh faces! Lindsey, Erika, and Gabby break down the biggest storylines from the USATF Outdoor Championships, from standout performances and surprise results to the races that left them wanting more. They discuss Grant Fisher vs. Woody Kincaid, Nikki Hiltz's continued dominance, Emily Mackay's incredible closing speed, nd what an "off-year" national championship really means for professional athletes. The conversation also dives into some of the sport's biggest controversies, including Addy Wiley's complicated path to the professional ranks, Hunter Woodhall's disqualification, Tara Davis-Woodhall's long jump protest, and the challenges of interviewing athletes whose careers are tied to major scandals. Along the way, they somehow end up debating racewalking, whether Noah Lyles' cramp makes him more relatable, and why running is never short on drama.

Chris Chavez and Kyle Merber drop the full preview of the 2026 USATF Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Icahn Stadium in New York City, held Thursday through Sunday.CITIUS MAG will have daily end-of-day recap podcasts, a daily newsletter, and interviews on YouTube throughout the weekend.Watch on USATF.tv, Peacock, and NBC (Saturday and Sunday TV windows). Free tickets are available courtesy of Mayor Zohran Mamdani's 500-ticket giveaway for Thursday and Friday. If you live within a couple hours of Icahn Stadium, no excuses. Some of the events discussed in this episode:– Women's 10K (Thursday): Thin field after Karissa Schweizer scratched. Top eight from last year's USAs are not competing. Kyle's read: the scratch actually makes for a better race — more wide open.– Men's 10K (Thursday): 13 men entered. Grant Fisher versus Woody Kincaid as the headline matchup — Grant riding the momentum of his first Diamond League victory and doubling in the 5K.– Women's 100m (Friday): No MJW vs. Sha'Carri head-to-head.– Men's 100m (Friday): Noah Lyles vs. Kenny Bednarek. Noah has been everywhere at Fanatics Fest and FIFA World Cup events so the question is how much that toll has taken. Kenny knows this is a great opportunity to get one up on him.– Women's 3000m steeplechase (Saturday): One of the deepest American steeple fields of the season — seven athletes entered at 9:20 or faster. The fastest American time of the year comes out of this race.– Men's 3000m steeplechase (Saturday): Matt Wilkinson at 8:09 is the ninth-fastest man in the world and a clear favorite — remarkable given he was on crutches after last year's USAs and came back with a straight-up PR.– Men's 1500m (Saturday): Top five from last year not competing so the race opens up.– Women's 1500m (Saturday): The rest of the field will be watching Nikki rather than racing their own race, so it's becoming a Faith Kipyegon dynamic where others defer rather than attack.– Women's 800m (Sunday): Roisin Willis is the top seed and story of the year in the women's 800 — US indoor record holder, strong outdoor season, coming off a brilliant performance in Stockholm. Addy Wiley has a Diamond League victory.– Men's 800m (Sunday): Brandon Miller scratched after London. Cooper Lukhenhaus vs. Donavan Brazier as the top billing — two of three members of last year's World Championship team.– Women's 5K (Sunday): Parker Valby vs. Shelby Houlihan. These two have never raced. Parker has run 14:39 this season (going by herself, no one could hang). Shelby was fourth at Worlds, has been running 800s, 1500s, 2 miles, 10Ks — she's fit and she's an 8:15 person with the ultimate kick.– Men's 5K (Sunday): Grant Fisher the heavy favorite.____________SUPPORT OUR SPONSORSBANDIT: For 2026, Bandit is providing support for any Unsponsored athletes competing at the USATF Outdoor Championships. Chris Chavez and Preet Majithia reconvene to debrief the rest of the London Diamond League. Chris and Kyle Merber's emergency pod captured the immediate reaction; this episode is the follow-up, covering everything that got overshadowed by the world record. We discuss:– Preet in the building: Eight flights of stairs between the mixed zone and the seating area to watch Josh Kerr's world record run.– Post-race mixed zone: Josh got emotional exactly once — when Hannah England asked him about the mental toll of the entire process. His first beer since his December wedding was that Saturday night. For a Scotsman, six months without a beer is its own kind of suffering.– Was the world record overshadowed by the World Cup? The day before the World Cup final, England played France in a 6-4 third-place match the same evening. The next morning, BBC Sport's homepage had zero stories about Josh Kerr.– Does this get Josh knighted? Chris's very American question.– Does the mile world record mean as much globally as the 1500? Preet raises the question: the mile matters enormously in the US and UK, but does it land elsewhere?– Sawe vs. Kerr: which was bigger?– Women's 800m — Keely wins in 1:56.21: The pacemaker went through 400 in 56.8, suggesting they were targeting sub-1:55 but backed off — if she'd gone through in 55 flat as planned, it might have been a 1:55 race. Preet's context: this was Keely's 50th sub-2:00 performance and her nineteenth sub-1:57.– Would you rather have Josh's career or Keely's right now?The rest of London — the performances that got overshadowed:– Brandon Miller, 1:42.19 in the men's 800m: Nearly a full second PB, fifth all-time for Americans. Timed his kick off the final bend perfectly.– Julien Alfred, 21.66 in the women's 200: Third win in nine days.– Karsten Warholm, 46.61 in the 400 hurdles: World lead, first hurdles race win of the season, meeting record.– Ja'Kobe Tharp, 12.89 in the 110m hurdles: Fifth time under 13 seconds this season — the first athlete in history to go sub-13 in five consecutive 110m hurdles races.– Kayinsola Ajayi, 9.84 in the men's 100m: Beats world champion Oblique Seville for the second time this season — turns and looks at him as they cross the line.– Rai Benjamin, 44.05 PB in the men's 400m: Beats Matthew Hudson-Smith (44.18). First Diamond League 400m win.– Marileidy Paulino, 48.97 in the women's 400m: Fourth sub-49 this season.– Jess Hull wins the women's 3000m, 8:24.69: Fierce surge with 200 to go– Looking ahead: Josh Kerr to appear on the CITIUS MAG podcast Wednesday. USAs rasistiske historie. From a red card controversy to a Cardinals team ahead of schedule, KMOX Sports Director Tom Ackerman brings the energy this segment. Tom explains why Team USA's red card suspension is now solely in FIFA's hands, no presidential pardon can touch it, and breaks down how the Americans still gutted out a 2-0 win over a tough, physical Bosnia and Herzegovina squad while playing a man down. He's fired up about Alexander Steen taking over as Blues GM and building a blue-collar, homegrown roster, plus a Cardinals team overperforming expectations with a stacked farm system that has the whole league taking notice. It's old-fashioned grit, toughness, and team-building done right, the kind of sports story that reminds you why hard work still wins.

BANGRANK A live cast ranking segment for anything and everything in the gun world, powered by questionable certainty, strong opinions, and audience voting. THE AGENCY BRIEF Agency Update 1. AGENCY BRIEF: STREET SWEEPER / USAS-12 DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE RECLASSIFICATIONWhat this really was: In 1994, ATF took lawfully owned shotguns and shoved them into the NFA “destructive device” category. No vote in Congress. No new statute. Just an agency ruling that turned specific 12-gauge shotguns into the same legal category as grenades. The targets were the Striker-12, the Street Sweeper, and the USAS-12. The Striker and Street Sweeper used revolving cylinders. The USAS-12 was a semi-auto, magazine-fed shotgun. They all fired ordinary 12-gauge shells, the same kind of ammunition people put through hunting pumps all over the country. The legal hook was buried in the National Firearms Act, specifically 26 U.S.C. § 5845(f). That section says a weapon with a bore over one-half inch can be treated as a destructive device unless the government decides it is “generally recognized as particularly suitable for sporting purposes.” A 12-gauge shotgun has a bore of about .73 inches. So every 12-gauge in America avoids the NFA only because ATF treats it as sporting enough. That is the trapdoor. In 1994, during the Clinton administration, ATF issued Rulings 94-1 and 94-2. The agency said these shotguns had no recognized sporting purpose, pointing to their weight, capacity, and military-style features. Once ATF withdrew that exemption, the guns became destructive devices. The pattern was simple: Start with a broad statute and an elastic test like “sporting purposes.” Use subjective factors, including appearance, to pull back prior approval. Reclassify the guns by agency ruling. Open a short amnesty period for tax-free registration. Turn missed paperwork into felony exposure. Confirmed fact: ATF used the sporting purposes clause to reclassify these firearms and require NFA registration without Congress passing a new law. What is less clear is how many legacy owners actually got notice before the amnesty window clo

Immigration changes, our reactions + how this changes things for usAs of May 2026, Portugal immigration laws have changed.[Insert record scratch]Two of the major changes that have affected us personally are:1️⃣ - The path to citizenship/passport in Portugal moved from 5 years to 10 years for us. That's when we can APPLY for, not necessarily receive, our passport.2️⃣ - The clock starts from the date you get your Temporary Residency Card, rather than the date of your initial application. For us that is about 6 months difference. For others, it can be years due to the AIMA backlog over the past years. There is no transition plan or grandfathering accommodation at this time for those who had already gotten visas, moved or started the process of moving.
Stijn Schmitz welcomes back John Feneck to the show. John Feneck is the CEO of Feneck Consulting Group. The discussion opens with the critical tungsten supply crunch, where China's recent export restrictions, including cutting off Japan, highlight a severe imbalance. John notes that the U.S. has not produced tungsten since 2015, while 85% of global supply comes from China, Russia, and North Korea, posing risks for defense and technology. He sees potential in advanced North American projects, and mentions growing U.S. government interest in securing domestic production. On precious metals, he views the recent sharp correction in silver and gold as a medium-term buying opportunity, with silver likely to hold around $50 after its parabolic rise, and gold's long-term bullish case supported by large bank price targets despite near-term rate-hike uncertainties. He favors producers Silverco and Americas Gold and Silver for their strong plans and management conviction. Turning to copper, near all-time highs, John highlights the supply constraints from long permitting timelines and names Power Metallic, backed by 17 billionaires and exceptional drill results, and PTX Metals, which offers low-cost copper with a pending uranium spin-off. What is less clear is how many legacy owners actually got notice before the amnesty window closed. But the legal threat was real, and the policy result stuck....
