Foredrag ved Tore Linné EriksenHelt fra europeerne først koloniserte Sør-Afrika, fratok de svarte sør-afrikanere deres jord, rettigheter og verdighet, en prosess som ble intensivert fra raseskillepolitikken apartheid ble formelt innført i 1948.Kampen for like rettigheter, jordreform og mot rasisme ble hovedsakelig ført av bevegelsen African National Congress (ANC), og var både politisk og militær. I dag har bevegelsen og frontfigurene heltestatus, men det er ikke mange tiår siden de var langt mer omstridte, og Nelson Mandela sto på USAs terrorliste.Ungdomsopprøret som startet i Soweto i 1976 ble både et symbol og et startskudd på den internasjonale motstanden mot apartheid, der også Norge deltok aktivt, særlig fra Fellesrådet for det sørlige Afrika, Den Norske Kirke og deler av fagbevegelsen. Mot slutten av apartheidsystemet gikk Gro Harlem Brundtlands regjering med i den globale boikott-kampanjen. Men har vi nordmenn lett for å se vel rosenrødt på vårt eget bidrag?Tore Linné Eriksen er professor emeritus ved OsloMet, og har arbeidet med Afrikas historie gjennom et langt liv. Foredrag ved Ketil RaknesPå 1950-tallet var store deler av USA segregert ut fra hudfarge eller «rase». Mange afrikansk-amerikanere fikk ikke stemme eller bevege seg fritt, og de var utsatt for økonomisk utnytting og vold fra hvite.Borgerrettsbevegelsen kjempet for like sivile og politiske rettigheter nasjonalt, men i virkeligheten besto den av mange lokale bevegelser som tok i bruk en rekke ulike taktikker og strategier. Mest kjent er Martin Luther King jr.s ikkevolds-linje, der aktivister inntok hvite rom som busser og restauranter, og nektet å flytte seg. Men andre fraksjoner mente resultatene ikke kom fort nok, og åpnet for å ta i bruk voldelige midler.Hvordan jobbet borgerrettsbevegelsen, og hvordan forholdt de seg til motstanden fra myndigheter og ytterliggående ekstremister? Hva betydde endringene de oppnådde, og hvor står kampen om disse rettighetene i dag?Ketil Raknes er instituttleder ved Høyskolen Kristiania. I 2024 ga han ut boka Hvit makt. USAs rasistiske historie. La paz suele entenderse como un estado deseable sin condiciones, pero no toda tranquilidad es señal de orden interno; algunas formas de calma existen precisamente porque algo ha sido evitado. No se trata de una serenidad construida desde la claridad, sino de una estabilidad aparente que se sostiene excluyendo lo que incomoda. Y aunque ese estado puede parecer funcional en el corto plazo, en el fondo implica una distorsión: no se está en paz con la realidad, se está en paz con una versión incompleta de ella.El problema no es la búsqueda de calma, sino convertirla en un refugio frente a lo que exige ser visto. Cuando la paz se vuelve prioritaria por encima de la verdad, cualquier elemento que la altere comienza a percibirse como una amenaza, incluso si ese elemento es necesario para corregir, ajustar o redefinir. En ese punto, el juicio deja de orientarse hacia la precisión y empieza a organizarse en función de preservar una sensación. La mente selecciona lo que mantiene la estabilidad y descarta lo que podría romperla, no por falta de comprensión, sino por una preferencia silenciosa por evitar la incomodidad.Así se construye una forma de equilibrio que depende de no cuestionarse demasiado. Se evitan conversaciones, se postergan decisiones y se suavizan conflictos bajo la idea de mantener la armonía, pero lo que realmente ocurre es un desplazamiento constante de aquello que debería enfrentarse. Y lo que se desplaza no desaparece, se acumula. La tensión no se elimina, se reorganiza en una capa menos visible, pero más persistente.Con el tiempo, esta dinámica genera una dependencia: la necesidad de que nada perturbe ese estado para poder sostenerlo. Pero una paz que depende de evitar no es estable, es frágil. Basta con que la realidad se imponga para que todo lo que se había omitido reaparezca, generalmente con mayor peso. Y en ese momento, lo que parecía serenidad revela su verdadero costo.Este episodio no propone abandonar la paz, sino recuperarla desde otro lugar. Entender que la tranquilidad que vale no es la que evita, sino la que puede sostener incluso aquello que incomoda.
