Why doesn’t God save everybody? Why does God insist that we forgive all who sin against us if He does not forgive all who sin against Him?
Authority comes before power Authority = lawful right to invoke obedience and obedience brings order. 1. God chose us - He laid down His blood for us - He has made choices for us We need to make a choice now for Him "I call all but only...
“God’s Still Small Voice” ....Don’t let the noise of the world keep you from hearing the voice of God ....has God stopped talking - or have we stopped listening 1 Kings 19:12 How does one hear this still small voice..... 1. Those who are acquainted ....sheep should know the voice of God and be acquainted with Him 2. Those who often feel alone, rejected and abandoned ....the times when you feel the most alone may be when He has you positioned to hear His voice (When you feel alone just be quite) 3. Comes in an atmosphere where distractions are eliminated ....God is not going to shout over other voices and distractions in our life so we can hear Him 4. Comes in a non spectacular manner ....it may come through a soft impression, an idea, a prompting, a drawing, a leading, a confirmation while studying His Word...... The Secondary Voice...... This voice is NOT the voice of God. It’s a voice that tells lies to you. ....you can’t do that .... God told you that but He didn’t mean for you to do it right now ....nobody wanted you ....just stop trying you can’t do anything right

Bibilically and historically, have people longed for God? Longed to be used by God? Laid their own lives down for the sake of the Kingdom of God? And my question is "Why don't we?" Why don't we yearn for Him, long for Him, desire more of Him, walk in full submissions to Him? Perhaps you have an answer for yourself. That is fine and good. Sunday we will spend our time asking this crucial question and seeing if God answers such a vital question.

There are five things that are crucial if we are to live and engage together as a community of believers for the glory of God living in awe of Him: 1. Take your local-church relationships seriously. 2. Rest in the peace of the Gospel. 3. Be a committed student of God's Word. 4. Look for ministry opportunities. 5. Recognize that your life no longer belongs to you.

Giving more is best defined as giving our best! The three Magi came from far away and offered their best to Jesus. But in this season, that is all about Jesus, we usually give him very little in the way of time, affection and obedience. How have we committed to reshape our expression of Christmas by modeling who Jesus is to friends, family, neighbors, and colleagues by giving more of our time, energy, affection and obedience to Him? Join us this Sunday as Steve Hambrick shares this important message!

This week we are concluding our series on Joshua. We are going to the end of the 11th chapter to look at the summary of conquest of Canaan. In our text, which is bracketed by the repeated statement "So Joshua took (the) this entire land" we discover at least three principles regarding how the Lord fulfills his promises. This is the fulfillment of a 500 year old promise first made to Abraham. This must have been a huge accomplishment in the mind of the author of the book; after all, it was a long time coming. The author is careful to note that the entire land was taken. By this he does not rule out that there were still sections of the country where hostiles remained as fugitives in the land. Later stories confirm this. We also should note that not until David's time did the Israelite territory extend to its maximum size. But it does mean that Joshua carried out the specific orders given by the Lord. The victory and the fulfillment of the promise is due to a combination of Joshua's courage and faithfulness and the Lord's miraculous intervention. It is a remarkable illustration of how the Lord accomplishes his purposes through his people. He even uses the hardness of the Canaanite hearts to ensure their extinction. The mention in verse 22 of Gaza, Gath and Ashdod is quite interesting. These areas become infamous strongholds and the center of Philistine resistance in later years. We are left to wonder why Joshua was not instructed to carry on the battle to these coastal areas. Perhaps the presence of the Philistines in later years is what the Lord uses to keep Israel dependent upon him. This is a discussion for the book of Judges which deals with this very problem. Questions for Discussion: 1. Slide 2. Why do you think the author is emphasizing in our text that Joshua took the entire land? What might have prompted this assertion? Hint: Think about the Judges when things are not going very well and the Philistines are overrunning the country. 2. Slide 9. Reread the "be strong and courageous" challenges in 1:6-9. What was Joshua's central responsibility? While he was not perfect, why did he succeed? 3. Slide 10-12. Discuss the interplay between God's miraculous intervention and the work of Joshua and the army. Why doesn't God just do this himself? In what ways have you seen God work though the free will of others, even those who are unbelievers? 4. Slide 13-16. Why mention the Anakites specifically? What do we learn here about delaying the fulfillment of God's promises? Why do you think the Lord did not get rid of every giant in the land? How has God used giants in your life to draw you closer to Him? 5. Slide 17. Review some of the great promises of God received in your handout. Which ones are most relevant to you today? How might you apply the lessons learned in this text to your promises?

This message this week is on the topic of worship. It's an incredibly vast topic with many different angles to it. In one sense worship is an event (i.e. we come to the Worship service), in another sense worship is all of life. The term worship means to "declare or ascribe worth." If that's true then everyone is a worshiper – to whatever or whomever they ascribe worth or value. We can worship careers, jobs, cars, sports, people – the list is endless. As followers of Christ – what value do you put on God? Your worship is a reflection of His worth in your life. We begin with a basic definition of worship: Worship is adoration and action. It's not only the words we say, the songs we sing, but it's also the life we live. Then we will look at a story from King David's life (2 Sam 6). He is one of the greatest worshipers in the Bible, and through this story we see how adoration and action were part of the corporate worship experience. Open your group with prayer. This is only a guide – select the points you want to discuss. Some groups may choose to simply discuss three open-ended questions: (a) As you sought to apply the lessons from last week to your life – how did it go? (b) What were the "aha" moments for you during the message this week? (c)What will you do different as a result of our discussion tonight? Questions for discussion: Slide #2 If to worship is "to declare worth or value," what are some common ways people worship today? Slide #3-4 Read Hebrews 13:15-16, 1 Corinthians 10:31, Romans 12:1 and list various ways we worship through adoration and action. Slide 7 – 14 Read the Text (2 Samuel 6:12-21) Slide #15 - 16 Why should one prepare for corporate worship times? What manner of preparation do you find most helpful? Why? What manner of preparation do you find most difficult? Why? Slide #17-19 Why do you think God wants us to include our physical bodies in worship to Him? Review the list of 'physical expressions of worship' and discuss them. Do you have a favorite? Your least favorite? Why? Slide #20-22 Why do you think singing/music is such an important aspect of worship? Slide #23-25 Do you find it easy or hard to participate in our gathered worship times? Explain? How can you guard your heart from becoming critical? Slide #26 How do my words and actions reflect worship to God? Slide #27 Is it possible to be a worshiping believer without a worshiping church? Discuss.

To live the good life together we, as Christians, are called to live out the ministry of reconciliation (2 Cor. 5:18-19). This is to be our response to our first-hand experience of God reconciling us to himself through the sacrifice Christ made on the cross. Our Father has forgiven us of far more than we will ever be asked to forgive of others. In light of that, we are encouraged to forgive with grace and joy. In fact, without the action of reconciliation, we as Christians, cannot hope to be the attractive people God calls us to be; to be the light in a dark and lost world (Matt 5:14-16). Our goal to coexist in harmony with one another doesn't mean that we cannot set boundaries and cautions that protect us from being unnecessarily harmed any further. We need to understand God's forgiveness in order to find internal harmony that naturally results in external harmony (through forgiving others) but we cannot regard others with animosity or fear. Questions to consider: Internal harmony 1. After reading a passage like Psalms 103:12 "as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed his transgressions from us," do you believe in head and heart that God has fully reconciled us to Him? 2. Is there something you are currently not forgiving yourself for? If so, what is holding you back? 3. When was the last time you allowed the healing power of God's loving forgiveness soak into your very being? What, if anything stops you from doing it now? 4. Take communion together and acknowledge with renewed eyes what Christ's sacrifice of body and blood did for you personally External harmony 5. Is there currently someone you are harboring bitterness or hurt towards? If so, how can you work towards reconciling with them? 6. Is there anyone in your life right now that reveals an obvious disharmonious coexistence? Consider why that is. 7. When you forgive others, does it come out of natural grace from what God has saved you from or forced because it is the right-thing-to-do? What kind of difference do you think that makes?

As we consider the goals and hopes we have for the new year we may be optimistic or pessimistic that they will be realized, but the God who created us has His own goals for us and offers us a hope that we can depend on. One of His goals is that we come into a secure, unconditionally loving relationship with Him as His child. If our hearts are ready He will call us into that kind of relationship with Him. Such a relationship enables us to face 2013 with hope. Join with us today in celebration as we ring in the new year with our annual combined.
While Jesus is the greatest gift given to God’s people, there are difficulties in receiving Him as our gift. The first involves accepting the Bible as being historical and Jesus as being God incarnate. The second involves our prideful expectation that similar to that of the first century Jews, God would send a deliverer who would save us from the sin of our world. Instead, Jesus comes to save us from our sin. When we by faith believe in what the New Testament says of Him and with humility accept the purpose of His coming we will joyfully benefit from the gift He is to us.
Jesus acted as a reflection of the Father's actions, which is why He healed the invalid at Bethesda. 1.) Jesus need the Father to succeed 2.) Jesus didn't do everything 3.) Jesus KNEW His Father loved Him 4.) Jesus lived in expectation of more

Verse 1 Every Sunday, the choir would march down the aisle, rocking from side to side; they were singing, step to Jesus and everything is gonna be alright. Oh, the Holy Ghost you could feel, and the sisters they would shout for real; 'cause they were just having... Chorus 1 Just having chu'ch, praising the Lord, praising His name. Verse 2 The deacons they knew how to pray, they knew how to call on the name of the Lord. The congregation would all say, amen, as we all got on one accord. Oh, the preacher, he knew how to preach, a dying world he was trying to reach; for they were just having... Chorus 1 Chorus 2 The saints knew how to praise Him, thanking Him every day. We need to learn to praise Him in the old time way; Chorus 1 Bridge (Now let us) have a little talk with Jesus, (let us) tell Him all about our troubles, (He will) hear our faintest cry, (He will) answer bye and bye, answer bye and bye; (they were just having church), (for they we're having...) Chorus 1 Vamp 1 Let's have a little chu'ch, let's have a little chu'ch, let's have a little chu'ch, let's have a little chu'ch, praise the Lord. Vamp 2 Let's have a little chu'ch. Chorus 1
How important is the Holy Spirit? What does He do? Is he available to Christians today? Does a Christian really need Him? In our text we read about Paul, Apollos, Priscilla, and Aquila, and most importantly, the Holy Spirit, and How vital the role of the Holy Spirit truly is.
Exodus 34:10-12 -God has made a covenant to do marvels beyond what has been seen before -He would drive out the people that were doing bad things in the land -He warned to not fall into the lifestyles of those he was driving out, lest it would break the covenant We are in a covenant with God: We are bonded to Him in Marriage -We need to remember this covenant -To deviate is to break the vows of the covenant When you make a covenant with God, He set you on a path of greatness -We step off that path because we have trouble trusting God to drive out the bad things -We need to trust God with our concerns Along the path are things that concern us, but we need to push through & stick on that path -We should not allow the surrounding obstacles to influence us -We need to ask God to give us the strength to get through the obstacles We need to not bow down to our concerns; we need to bow down to God Psalm 138:8 The Lord will perfect [complete/finish] that which concerns me. If God gives you a vision, stick with it until God tells you to leave it Psalm 145:18-21 -God is near to all who call upon Him -We need to continually call upon Him! -When we talk to God, he gives us His undivided attention -When God talks to us, do we give Him our undivided attention? God will perfect, complete & fulfill Psalm 143:7-12
Everyone desires to leave a lasting imprint in life. Something that outlives them, a legacy to be remembered, that made a difference. Harold Kushner said, “I am convinced that it is not the fear of death, of our lives ending, that haunts our sleep so much as the fear...that as far as the world is concerned, we might as well never have lived.” How will you leave this Earth? Will you leave a legacy for Christ and live a life boldly for Him?
