Jeremiah 18:1-6 1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: 2‘Come, go down to the potter’s house, and there I will let you hear my words.’ 3 So I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was working at his wheel. 4 The vessel he was making of clay was spoiled in the potter’s hand, and he reworked it into another vessel, as seemed good to him. 5 Then the word of the Lord came to me: 6 Can I not do with you, O house of Israel, just as this potter has done? says the Lord. Just like the clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel.
Ephesians 1:15-23 New International Version (NIV) 15. For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, 16. I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. 17. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit[a] of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19. and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength 20. he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21. far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23. which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

Oneness and Peace in Christ 11Don’t forget that you Gentiles used to be outsiders. You were called “uncircumcised heathens” by the Jews, who were proud of their circumcision, even though it affected only their bodies and not their hearts. 12In those days you were living apart from Christ. You were excluded from citizenship among the people of Israel, and you did not know the covenant promises God had made to them. You lived in this world without God and without hope. 13But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ. 14For Christ himself has brought peace to us. He united Jews and Gentiles into one people when, in his own body on the cross, he broke down the wall of hostility that separated us. 15He did this by ending the system of law with its commandments and regulations. He made peace between Jews and Gentiles by creating in himself one new people from the two groups. 16Together as one body, Christ reconciled both groups to God by means of his death on the cross, and our hostility toward each other was put to death. 17He brought this Good News of peace to you Gentiles who were far away from him, and peace to the Jews who were near. 18Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us. A Temple for the Lord 19So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family. 20Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself. 21We are carefully joined together in him, becoming a holy temple for the Lord. 22Through him you Gentiles are also being made part of this dwelling where God lives by his Spirit.

With the snow gone and as we gather back again on a Sunday, we return to our study of 1st Corinthians, picking up in chapter 11. This is the famous — or infamous — passage that addresses the way men and women dress during for the church gatherings. Does God have a dress code? Is there a “right way” for men and women to come before the Lord? The passage also speaks to male and female differences and even role differences. Is the Bible is patriarchal book that belittles women and favors men? Are women second class citizens in God’s eyes? Should women wear a veil on their heads? Why or why not? We will make our way diligently through this passage, mining out what is cultural and what is eternal. Our God is a God of order and not chaos! Aren’t you thankful for that! Listen in as we explore this very interesting passage in 1st Corinthians.

How Do You Magnify the Lord?
1.It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord 2.It is a good thing to give thanks for all His people 3.It is a good thing to give thanks to the Lord in everything
How do you view the body? Well, that's a weird question, isn't it? In the second half of 1st Corinthians chapter six, Paul has to deal with some challenging topics, and he wants the Corinthians to know it isn't just about the surface layer of actions (sexual immorality), but really has to do with the core issue of how we view our bodies. Are they for us or are they for the Lord? As you might expect, Corinthian culture and norms are not that different from the world we are facing today in America. Views on morality have swung far away from a God-centric worldview to a hedonistic worldview: "my body is mine and I can do with it whatever I want!" The Corinthians had that same view and Paul starts this section by quoting it: "All things are permissible [lawful] for me!" but that doesn't mean all things are beneficial. As Pastor Steve deals with this difficult and challenging topic of sexual sin, our bodies, and how we are to live in a permissive culture, listen in and be challenged to think like Paul--and like Christ--that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, therefore we should "glorify God in your body."

A story that has circulated among preachers for years concerns a small, African-American Church in Michigan on that Sunday after the Kennedy assassination, a Sunday in which all across the land people poured out of their homes into houses of worship. In this particular church, the minister stepped to the pulpit, pulled the chain which turned on the light by which he could read, opened his Bible, and read words from Isaiah that open our scripture today: “In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord.” The minister then proceeded to ask his grieving, gathered congregation: In the year that we have lost our King, In the year that we have lost our dashing young president, Can we – can we – can we see the Lord? Larry Hayward preaches on Isaiah 6:1-8.

At Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Charleston, SC, we marked the end of our Deuteronomy sermon series this past Sunday, December 3 after four-plus years. Our senior pastor began with the same question he asked back in September 2013: How are we living in the land? From the last five verses of Deuteronomy, he gave us three charges: 1. Be joyful 2. Step up in the power of the Spirit 3. Keep your life centered on the Lord Now we ask ourselves: How can we live well in this land (at 43 Wentworth St.) where the Lord has planted us?

Last time we looked at all the reforms Hezekiah put in to change the heart of the people to serve God with a willing heart. After that, the people went out and cut down the idols and hish places and worshipped God. 1 Coronicles 32:1 reads "After these deeds of faithfulness, Sennacherib king of Assyria came and entered Judah..." Why is Israel over run by the enemy after turning back to the Lord? How the people handle this tells us much about how we should face our own battles which don't seem to be going very well, even after we have been faithful to God. The way most people handle these situations is the reason they lose. Judah and Hezekiah are great examples for us to follow.

Friend—your King is coming! He is riding toward you now. He is ready to look straight into your eyes. Are you ready for His glance? That glance demands a verdict. He wants to know whether or not He truly is your King, your Sovereign. Will you shift your glance away, or will there be that nod of affirmation which comes from one who is loyal in allegiance to the King of all kings, the Lord of all lords—your King & your Lord?

This coming Sunday is “Pentecost Sunday” on the Christian calendar. It is also “Memorial Day” weekend. We will remember our military and give thanks for those who serve and have served our country. We will also remember a day in history with the Living God reminded the “The Church” how powerful the Holy Spirit is. These Passages above remind us of the authority of the prophetic Word of God. What God has spoken will be fulfilled. The ministry and work of the Spirit of God within the human heart is neither hindered nor controlled by human might nor power (or hand grenades). The power of God’s Spirit is beyond human understanding. This Sunday we will remind ourselves that the Holy Spirit desires us to surrender to His Lordship. We will remind ourselves that Jesus Christ is coming back and we need to be ready for HIS return. We will also be reminded of the incredible power of HIS grace that can save, “whoever calls on the name of the LORD.” Prayer – Living God, thank you for the powerful grace that has saved me. Help me Lord to daily surrender my life to the love and ministry of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Numbers 11:4-6 Numbers 11:10-20 Quail From the Lord 4 The rabble with them began to crave other food, and again the Israelites started wailing and said, “If only we had meat to eat! 5 We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost—also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions and garlic. 6 But now we have lost our appetite; we never see anything but this manna!” 10 Moses heard the people of every family wailing, each at the entrance to his tent. The LORD became exceedingly angry, and Moses was troubled. 11 He asked the LORD, "Why have you brought this trouble on your servant? What have I done to displease you that you put the burden of all these people on me? 12 Did I conceive all these people? Did I give them birth? Why do you tell me to carry them in my arms, as a nurse carries an infant, to the land you promised on oath to their forefathers? 13 Where can I get meat for all these people? They keep wailing to me, 'Give us meat to eat!' 14 I cannot carry all these people by myself; the burden is too heavy for me. 15 If this is how you are going to treat me, put me to death right now--if I have found favor in your eyes--and do not let me face my own ruin." 16 The LORD said to Moses: "Bring me seventy of Israel's elders who are known to you as leaders and officials among the people. Have them come to the Tent of Meeting, that they may stand there with you. 17 I will come down and speak with you there, and I will take of the Spirit that is on you and put the Spirit on them. They will help you carry the burden of the people so that you will not have to carry it alone. 18 "Tell the people: 'Consecrate yourselves in preparation for tomorrow, when you will eat meat. The LORD heard you when you wailed, "If only we had meat to eat! We were better off in Egypt!" Now the LORD will give you meat, and you will eat it. 19 You will not eat it for just one day, or two days, or five, ten or twenty days, 20 but for a whole month--until it comes out of your nostrils and you loathe it--because you have rejected the LORD, who is among you, and have wailed before him, saying, "Why did we ever leave Egypt?" ' "

Experiencing God Through Obedience Obeying the Voice of The Lord 1 Samuel 15:1-35
Main Idea: God WILL punish injustice and He WILL save the people called by His name. 1. Injustice begins with a rejected Word and a rejected Lord 2. Injustice happens when idols reign and people become expendable. 3. Divine justice will bring an end to injustice 4. God will save the people called by His name.

(Christ's image) - A person in obedience will experience breakthrough! - There is no breakthrough until you have battled! - For a real breakthrough, Jesus has to walk in you.
- Carrying heavy burdens, we need to give them to the Lord - A lot of times we carry the same burden again, and again, and again, without truly giving it to God - When we try to do it on our own or hold on to burdens, we are not fully trusting in the Lord - We need to move in obedience, we need to rest in him, read his word and seek his face - Who are you putting your trust in?
