Join us as we chat with Revive Ministries team member, Amanda Swick, about the power of prayer in revival, whether in our everyday lives or on a much larger scale. You'll hear inspiring stories of God working through the unlikeliest of people and be encouraged that God can work through your prayers, too. You'll be reminded of God's character and learn practical ways to revive your prayer life, or get started for the first time. Hosted by Summer Shore and Melissa Campbell, with special guest Amanda Swick. Music by Nathaniel Rodrigues A little about Amanda: Amanda Swick is a pastor's wife and a homeschooling mother to 4 handsome boys. She and her family live in Prineville, Oregon, and have been ministering with the Prineville Church of Christ for the past several years. Before that, they spent 10 years as college ministers at Oregon State University. During those years, as she dealt with the ups and downs of campus ministry, caring for a sick child, and the general chaos of life, Amanda found her passion for prayer. Through prayer, God sustained her and brought peace that was beyond understanding (Phil 4:7). Now she is on a mission to share the joys of prayer with others! In 1882, a land dispute escalated to violence — and then led to a lynch mob taking justice into its own hands. For two years afterward, the members of that lynch mob stayed active, forming a shadow government in the Prineville area enforced by masked riders with drawn guns and ready ropes ... and for a year or two, Prineville was the murder capital of Oregon. This is the story of how that happened ... and how the Vigilantes were defeated. The Federal Railroad Administration, which is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation, is investing more than $40 million in rail funding for Oregon. Projects span the state and include work in Linn and Lake Counties and Coos Bay. Prineville is getting funding specifically allocated for rural communities. The grant will help the city restore its rail line and improve safety. Prineville’s railway has experienced its ups and downs. When the lumber business was booming in the ’60s, the railway was a major economic driver for the region. In recent years, the railway has had to reinvent itself to stay in business. We hear more about the efforts from Matt Wiederholt, the general manager of the City of Prineville Railway.
Program publiceret i DR Lyd d. 15/10.
Many Oregon towns, when bypassed by the railroad, withered into tiny hamlets — but one of them built its own railroad instead. It's still in business today, and it's the oldest continuously operating municipal short line in the U.S. (Prineville, Crook County; 1910s) (For text and pictures, see https://offbeatoregon.com/0905b_h114.prineville-railroad.html)

After three months, Paul and his companions sailed from Malta and eventually landed at Puteoli, where they continued their journey to Rome. Along the way, Paul sought out and was sought by other believers, and they encouraged one another. Once in Rome he was chained to a guard, but didn't let that stop him from preaching the gospel to anyone and everyone. He even sent for Jews from each of the local synagogues to preach to them. Some received him; others did not. For two years he stayed in his own house and was allowed to freely preach the gospel without harassment and persecution, something he had never experienced. Rory noted that this is the end of the written book of Acts, but it really continues on to this day. We are a part of it and as Paul, need to be boldly and fearlessly preaching the gospel, whether in far off lands or in Prineville.

As a Redmond IHC alumni, I cannot begin to explain the incredible experience that I had with Redmond Hotshots. So, that's why I have Superintendent Gabe Mason and Asst. Superintendent Jordan Gulley from Redmond IHC sit down to chat about one of the four Leadership Training and Development Hotshot crews in the nation...In August 1960, the Washington Office authorized the establishment of the first inter-regional crew in the Pacific Northwest, which became the Redmond Hotshot Crew. The crew functioned as a regular hotshot crew with temporary crewmembers from 1960 through 1980. The Redding Interagency Hotshot Crew based in California was the first organization to use the developmental detail-training concept for permanent employees. The number of interested applicants however, far exceeded the quota offered to the Pacific Northwest. The increasing number of interested candidates, along with the 1977 fire fatality of Okanogan Assistant Fire Management Officer Ron Neely on the Gibson Creek Fire, served to support the establishment of a detail crew in the Pacific Northwest. In 1981, Redmond IHC was converted to a leadership developmental training crew. From 1981 to the present, the Redmond Interagency Hotshot Crew Leadership Development Program has provided the Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Indian Affairs, National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, State Natural Resource Agencies, the Forest Services of Mexico, U.S.S.R., France, and New Zealand with both fireground and classroom training opportunities in fire and fuels. Here is a little more about Gabe and Jordan:Gabe Mason:"I grew up in Roseburg, Oregon and I began my career on the Diamond Lake Ranger District after achieving my Bachelors of Science, majoring in Kinesiology at Oregon State University. I have served as a Prineville hotshot, Alaska smokejumper, and Rogue Siskiyou and Deschutes National Forest crew supervisor. I currently operate as the Redmond interagency hotshot crew superintendent, and am actively involved in the leadership develop courses at the regional level. I love my time with family, coaching sports, drawing, and studying anthropology." Jordan Gulley:"Jordan began his career on the Tonasket RD in 2007. While completing his studies at Washington State University he accepted an apprentice position on the Paisley R.D. in 2010and attended Academy 52 the same year. Over his career, Jordan has worked on a Type 2 IA Crews, Hotshot Crews, Helitack Crews, and Engines.Jordan is passionate about training & promoting diversity. He serves as a Stress First Aid Trainer, Regional Lead Instructor and is the African American Special Emphasis Program Manager on the Deschutes NF. Although Oregon's towns and cities glow brighter with night lights, Prineville Reservoir State Park is the first Oregon park to be certified as an International Dark Sky Park. This means it's earned a spot alongside less than 200 locations around the world. We hear from Mike Simonsen, a park manager who worked on landing Prineville's designation. Bob Grossfeld, manager of the Oregon Observatory in Sunriver, joins as well. Sunriver earned an International Dark Sky Place designation last year. They share details about why protecting the night sky is important and how seeing stars helps Oregonians connect with the universe.

Redemption House Ministries in Prineville runs two shelters for people experiencing homelessness and also provides meals to anyone in need. The food is served at the nonprofit's cafe, known as Craig's Compassionate Cafe, and charges $.50 per meal or offers people the option to trade a chore for a meal. Thé café has been closed during the pandemic but recently reopened to resume its mission. Cindy Burback is the executive director of Redemption House Ministries and she says that since the cafe also brings meals out to people in camps, volunteers may feed as many as 30 people in a day. We talk with Burback about the cafe and Redemption House Ministries' larger role in caring for some of the most vulnerable members of the community.

Had a great time on the Podcast with Garan, very impressed with the level of maturity this young man... Garan Buller is from central Oregon just outside of Prineville. He trains barrel horses and futurity horses as my part time job and lifestyle and also plans large charity barrel races his my families non profit. He is a full time student in a theology and business program through Grand Canyon University. Horses have been a center piece in his life from a young age and he got more into barrel racing and training through high school. Horses were the thing that pushed me to keep going throughout all of my medical problems growing up, and states "I would Literally try to get back on the horse." This was a gift and passion he believes God gave him. Garan loves helping people and folds Gods love into everything he does whether its training horses, raising money for his Families emergency medical fund for rural families, making Tik Tok videos or starting a small western clothing company. After being nearly killed in a range war, sheep baron Jack Edwards started looking for a more peaceable place to run his operation. T This is no ordinary woman! Ladies, if you need a shot of inspiration, especially with all that's going on these days, listen to Gina’s story of growing up alone, that is except for the power of God in her life and her father’s persistent comment that “there’s no such word as ‘can’t’” that continually rang in her ear! Gina is 5'4" tall and 110 lbs. Most people would think that she’s “too small” to be an iron and steel forger, a blacksmith, a horse and goat trainer, a wilderness photographer, a hunter who packs into the mountains with her goats, a paramedic, nurse, and one of the first women to be hired as a fire fighter on the elite Oregon "hotshot" team. The only flaw I could find in my time with her was her limited vocabulary; she's unable to pronounce and use the word "can't" in a sentence! Listen to her story of how, as a seven year old girl she was raised in the mountains, by a father and grandfather who taught her the power of "you can do this" and "brain over brawn." A country person by nature, a few years ago Gina started developing the time honored craft of Blacksmithing, making steel into rustic useful items. With her living next to the beautiful Cascade Mountains in Oregon, photography was a natural since it’s something she’s done all her life. Her approach to things she thought could be almost impossible was "this could be interesting." As a woman of faith hear how her combination of "I can do this" and Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through him who strengthens me" enabled her to do what could be considered nearly impossible for most women. After we finished our interview I told her I felt like I had just heard the best, most inspiring sermon of my life! She has spurned many offers of marriage to maintain her commitment to her faith and who knows what else she’s going to tackle next! During the Summer you can buy items at Ft. Klamath Museum, and Collier State Park and Logging Museum. You can also find her items at Rick Steber Makers & Company in Prineville, Oregon. If you are in her area you can also buy items at Favell Museum, Klamath County Museum, and For His Glory Bible Book Store. You can connect with Gina on her Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/cascadecountrycreations/ If you like this, please subscribe to my podcast channel because we're going to have more, equally inspiring and motivating stories from other "Everyday Heroes." We were honored to have Amanda Swick as one of our breakout speakers at our last Revive Conference, where she spoke on how to Revive Your Prayer Life. Amanda is married to Jason Swick and is a homeschooling mother to 3 handsome boys. They live in Prineville, Oregon and have been ministering with the Prineville Church of Christ for the past two years. Before that they spent 10 years as college ministers at Oregon State University. During those years, as she dealt with the ups and downs of campus ministry, caring for a sick child, and the general chaos of life, Amanda found her passion for prayer. Through prayer, God sustained her and brought peace that was beyond understanding (Phil 4:7). Now she is on a mission to share the joys of prayer with others. Amanda shares some encouraging and practical wisdom on how to revive your prayer life, or get one started for the first time.
