Mark Lewis, MD and Jean Luc Neptune, MD tackle the sensitive subject of weight. What exactly are the measures of health? While we often assume that being overweight is a sign of being unhealthy, we rarely think that someone who is thin can be out of shape. With the current obesity epidemic in the United States, it is worth asking the question, "Can I be fat and healthy?" but a better question might be, what does healthy look like?Tweet us your questions @jeanlucneptune or @marklewismd or email us at isitserious@offscrip.com or call us at 855-283-4666.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
The 21st Century Cures Act made it mandatory to release scans and lab results to patients as soon as they are ready. Often, this means that they get released to patients before their doctors have seen them. While JL and Mark believe that patients should own their data, there are many sensitive situations when patients receiving their information without full understanding or explanation can have devastating results.Tweet us your questions @jeanlucneptune or @marklewismd or email us at isitserious@offscrip.com or call us at 855-283-4666.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Women in Medicine Series Part 2. Dr. Donna Barhorst, a pediatrician and leader in the Intermountain Medical Group, shares her path through clinical care into leadership. Dr. Barhorst talks about following her path and never stopping to think about gender limitations, building successful teams, and connecting with caregivers around the microwave.
In order to provide consistent care in Intermountain Medical Group clinics, Kelly Imlay, Nurse Administrator for the Medical Group, is working with Continuous Improvement to standardize patient care provided by Medical Assistants. In this podcast, Anne Pendo, MD, Medical Director for Experience of Care talks with Kelly and Diane Salisbury, an Intermountain medical assistant for the last 14 years, about how creating standards for the same care across all Intermountain clinics will improve the patient--and caregiver—experience.
Mark Briesacher, MD, President of the Intermountain Medical Group, speaks with Dean Mayer, MD, Medical Director of Riverton Hospital, Eddie Stenehjem, MD, Infectious Disease specialist and Medical Director of Antibiotic Stewardship, and Michael Coudreaut, MD, Psychiatrist and Consultation Liaison at Intermountain Medical Center, about the team they have created to help improve the lives and health of Intermountain patients addicted to opioids.
This week’s Influence podcast features Linda Leckman, the CEO of Intermountain Medical Group in Salt Lake City and a brilliant trailblazer for women in medicine. In a very real way Linda’s impressive career as a surgeon and CEO in healthcare all started when she was a teenager working as a candy striper when her desire to be a doctor first began. She went on to earn an undergraduate degree in history at Texas Christian University and a medical degree from the University of New Mexico before coming to the University of Utah to do a residency in general surgery. Linda was the first woman in the residency program at the University of Utah at a time when it was commonly thought that women didn’t have the temperament to be good surgeons, but she persisted and succeeded! During her second year, she was so happy that the university let three more women into its residency program. After graduating in 1982, Linda established her own successful private practice as a general surgeon in Salt Lake City. After 14 years running her own surgical practice, Linda made the bold move to join the executive team of Intermountain Healthcare and three years later she was leading their newly formed physician group. Even though her experience in business and finance was limited, Linda was determined to succeed and worked her way to the top as she grew Intermountain Medical Group from fewer than 100 doctors to more than 1,000 as she greatly expanded her group’s impact to 180 clinics across the state. We hope you enjoy the insights of Dr. Linda Leckman, a brilliant thinker who broke down barriers so other women could move forward in leadership roles that have improved healthcare in Utah.
