Bryan Kohberger, the accused in the brutal murder of four University of Idaho students, has remained a mystery—until now. A major breakthrough in his case has emerged, as prosecutors gain access to his full medical and psychiatric records, providing what could be the first real glimpse into his mental state. Could this be the missing piece of the puzzle that explains his alleged actions? For months, speculation has swirled around Kohberger's behavior, personality, and mental health history. Former classmates have described him as socially awkward, controlling, and emotionally detached. Reports of his struggles with substance abuse, dramatic personality shifts, and obsessive tendencies have fueled theories that an undiagnosed mental illness could have played a role in the murders. But until now, it's all been speculation. With Idaho law barring an insanity defense, Kohberger cannot claim he was legally insane at the time of the murders—so why does his mental health history matter? Experts believe these records could become a key factor in his sentencing. If his legal team can present evidence of serious, untreated mental illness, they may be able to argue against the death penalty, following in the footsteps of cases like Nikolas Cruz and James Holmes, where psychiatric conditions helped spare the defendants from execution. But the prosecution isn't backing down. Instead, they may argue that Kohberger was fully aware of his actions, that his behavior was calculated, and that his mental health struggles—if they exist—do not absolve him of responsibility. With mounting evidence, including DNA, surveillance footage, and cell phone records, they will likely present Kohberger as a highly intelligent but deeply disturbed individual who meticulously planned the crime—and should face the ultimate punishment. So, what's actually in these psychiatric records? Will they show a history of diagnosed mental illness, therapy sessions, or prescription medications? Or will they reveal that Kohberger was simply a methodical, cold-blooded killer, fully aware of his actions? In this deep dive, we'll break down: What mental health experts say about Kohberger's past behavior How prosecutors and defense attorneys might use these records in court The shocking similarities between Kohberger's case and other infamous killers who had mental illness What this means for the death penalty, and whether his legal team can use this as a lifeline This is one of the most highly anticipated murder trials in recent history, and the revelations from Kohberger's psychiatric records could shift everything. Will these new documents help him avoid execution, or will they solidify the case against him? Vice President Harris releases records showing her to be in excellent health and calls on Donald Trump to do the same, as questions grow about his mental acuity. Anthony Coley, Molly Jong-Fast and Charlie Sykes join me to discuss that and a new low from Stephen Miller. All that and more on “The Saturday Show with Jonathan Capehart.”

This week on Ring of Fire! The release of special prosecutor Jack Smith's new evidence against Donald Trump made one thing absolutely clear: Rudy Giuliani's incompetence may have been what saved the country. Giuliani, while working on Trump's behalf to get Congress to NOT certify the election results, accidentally texted his plan for Congress to the wrong number, which then prevented Congress from getting the plan. Had this not happened, January 6th could have turned out very differently. Not long ago, Donald Trump promised to release his full medical records to prove that being the oldest presidential nominee in history wasn't that big of a deal. And now that we're a month away from the election, the media is calling him out for failing to do so. Voters have enormous concerns about Trump's fitness – both physical and mental – and releasing those records could go a long way to easing fears – or confirming them. Tim Walz, without even doing anything, has managed to drive Republican House Oversight Committee chairman James Comer insane. Comer is abusing his power to launch an investigation into Walz's connections to China, and right before the recent Vice Presidential Debate Comer sent a subpoena to the Department of Homeland Security for information about Walz. This investigation will end the same way that all of Comer's other investigations ended, which means he'll look like a complete fool again. Donald Trump's dumpster fire of a campaign is now burning through cash faster than money can come in. For the past two months, the campaign has spent more than it brought in, dropping Trump's total amount of cash on hand to a little over $230 million (which is still a lot, but not nearly as much as the Harris campaign has.) The biggest problem, however, is that Republicans have no idea where Trump is spending the money. All that, and much more, on this week's Ring of Fire Podcast!

Investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell continue their coverage of two appeal hearings heard last week in the case of thrice-accused rapist Bowen Turner and his sweetheart plea deal.  Today. listeners will get to hear Part Two of the Chloe Bess interview, where she talks about what it was like being in the courtroom and on her thoughts about how the system continues to coddle and make excuses for Bowen, who sexually assaulted her as a teenager.  Also on the show, Mandy and Liz begin sharing their findings from the stack of medical records leaked to them in the Mica Francis case, starting with the first few months of 2018, the year of Mica's first alleged suicide attempt. From the get-go, Mica's marriage to Myrtle Beach pastor JP Miller was defined by a questionable mental health diagnosis that continues to plague her memory to this day, five months after her death. Records from January through March 2018 show that Mica had immediate doubts about this diagnosis and a — despite her husband's insistence that she remain compliant with her medication — JP himself was playing pharmacist.  Episode Resources: Bowen Turner v. Leaked medical records from Mica Francis' in-patient and outpatient visits to mental health facilities were leaked to the public over the past week, and investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell are diving in. According to the records — some of which were sent directly to Luna Shark Media and others that were posted online by a TikToker sympathetic to JP Miller's plight — Mica was confused about her diagnosis and its symptoms. At the same time, these records raise questions about how Mica was being treated and where clinicians were getting some of their information about her alleged behavior. In one report, the clinician notes that Mica recognized the need to “listen to her husband when he raises concerns.” Also on the show, one of the two appeals in the Bowen Turner case is set to be heard and it's a big deal. Next week attorneys representing one of Bowen's victims — whom he pleaded guilty to assaulting — will argue that the prosecution and defenses deprived her from her constitutional right to be present at Bowen's plea hearing. How the court rules could have a lasting impact on the future of victims' rights in South Carolina. We will broadcast the hearing LIVE for Luna Shark Premium members next Tuesday at 10 am ET...
