Our true crime series continues, and this time with another heavyweight whose story had plenty of ups and downs, but mostly downs, in Jeff Sims. A Florida native, Sims survived working in the sugar cane fields and somehow lived through some violent teen years to become a professional fighter. Perhaps known best for the heavyweight who busted Muhammad Ali's lip in sparring, Jeff Sims was definitely much more than that. Follow us on social media! Estimated reading time: 2 minutes There's a certain air of optimism around Georgia Tech football in Geoff Collins' third year. With a quarterback that is a blink away from reaching the next level, a stable of running backs that are dual threats and finally some beefy linemen perhaps it's warranted. We'll find out what's happening with the Yellow Jackets this season with our special guest Kelly Quinlan, the Publisher of Jackets Online on this episode of ACC Nation Podcast. You can also listen to the interview on ACC Nation Radio or watch it on YouTube. Is this the year the team finally turns the corner. There were signs of it last year amidst the madness of COVID when lack of training and quarantined players hampered all of college football. Things are definitely different this year. You can hear the confidence in the voices of the players and coaches. It's become infectious among many fans and has crept into the media coverage as well. Is this a better team? Certainly it's different than what Collins found when he took over from Paul Johnson. It takes time to re-build a team and Collins is going into the magic three year mark where many expect, nay, demand results. Top Overrated And Underrated ACC College Football Teams Georgia Tech Football Will and Jim dig into the offensive side of the ball with a look at quarterback and running back. Quinlan reveals that Jeff Sims is no longer a freshman trying to keep his head above water. No, Sims is iron forged in fire and he's got plenty of heat to share including that of Jahmyr Gibbs who is a dual threat that can leave defenders in the dust. The line has improved and are no longer the undersized and outclassed group that struggled to hold off hungry defenders. This group is capable of giving both Sims and Gibbs both time and space to put points on the board. DONATE Where are the weak spots? Perhaps on defense but that remains to be seen how this team clicks. We'll get a good look at them when they face off with North Illinois in their opener. We enter Year 3 of the Geoff Collins era on the Flats with much to discuss, including: We always knew it would take some time to rebuild Georgia Tech's offense after moving away from Paul Johnson's spread option scheme -- but how much longer should this realistically take? Jeff Sims had some major highs and lows in 2020 as a true freshman -- what will it take for him to take the next step this year? With lots of talent and continuity, will the secondary return to its 2019 levels of productivity, or continue the slump it saw in 2020? What's even a reasonable expectation record-wise against one of the toughest schedules in all of college football? All of that, plus record predictions, and MORE! Week 2 of ACC play is in the books, and things did NOT go the way that Joey and Mike thought they did -- they were a combined 2-10 against the spread and just 4-3 straight-up in picks this weekend! That's because: - Miami proved too much for Louisville to handle, which was a really good sign for the 'Canes to go with some not-so-good signs for the Cardinals... - Pittsburgh had major issues on special teams and missed opportunities on several occasions, but still disposed of Syracuse without much issue (and that's not a great sign for the Orange). - Boston College kicked off the Jeff Hafley era with a win over Duke, although it's still hard to say whether the Eagles or Blue Devils are particularly functional at this point. - NC State broke a 6-game conference game losing streak in hanging on to win against Wake Forest, despite some unexpected quarterback turbulence. - Georgia Tech played UCF somewhat closely for a 28-point loss but still has some major issues to work out, including some majorly detrimental freshman moments from the largely-dynamic Jeff Sims. All of this, plus we give awards to some larger-scale trends in the conference, we name teams and players of the week, and MORE!

Some of the services they offer include stewardship, soybeans production, and commercial corn production.   Jeff and Garrett join me today to describe how Granular has enabled them to manage their business at a more efficient rate. They share how they run the farm, the people they employ, and the crops they grow. They discuss how they adapted to new technologies and how Granular has served as one of their best investments. They also explain the importance of knowing which “shiny object” to focus on and how to tell if a new tool is worth your time.     “It's great to sell a product, but you have to have people and systems in place to make it work.” - Jeff Sims       This Week on The Future of Agriculture Podcast:   Jeff and Garrett Sims' farming operations and how they manage their farm. Their transition from traditional to automated farm management. How Granular helped them establish an efficient farm system. Sorting through the many new tools and technologies available to them. Jeremy is joined by Garden City Community College coach Jeff Sims. College coaches know Sims as a national-championship winning coach and as one of the first people to develop a player personnel department in college football.
