We will be talking about the Nebraska-Colorado game and, in particular, how the rules are supposed to work. The second half was the worst half of football I've seen in a very long time and that was largely due to the officials making themselves known and being clear that they wanted to influence the game. We're going to talk about what targeting is, what holding is, and of course what happened in the game, especially Ty Robinson because I think Ty Robinson should be getting a lot more national buzz. He should be getting on a lot more award lists. The man is a force of nature and I want everybody to start talking about him.

The Husker247 trio gathered on Tuesday morning to talk through all that Nebraska-Colorado has to offer and walk through a little of what we saw with the UTEP game. Things started with Brian Christopherson giving his thoughts on what happened against the Miners, why what Dylan Raiola and the receivers showed could be just the start, how the defense performed and why it was a good day for the special teams. Then it was Colorado time as Michael Bruntz discussed how Matt Rhule didn't provide bulletin board material, while reinforcing what is at stake for the Huskers this week. Finally a little recruiting talk as Mike Schaefer discusses several players committed elsewhere are coming to Lincoln to get a closer look at Nebraska-Colorado and to spend more time with the staff. Tonight we'll be looking ahead to the Nebraska-Colorado game this Saturday night in Lincoln. It's a game which will be full of national attention, excitement, and probably plenty of fireworks. Joining me for a lively discussion will be Jack Barsh and Ryland Scholes of Ralphie Report, our SB Nation Colorado Buffalo site. I'm sure the discussion will be lively and fun and we'll talk about everything: Shedeur Sanders Travis Hunter Coach Deion Sanders Colorado's Offensive Line Colorado's Defense We'll be discussing what to expect from both teams during the game and we'll get to hear the Colorado perspective on Coach Prime and what he's done with the Buffaloes in his second year. Is it all about the Sanders'? Is it all about showmanship? Is Colorado capable of playing good football across the board? What effects has Coach Prime had on the University of Colorado?
The Sunday Side Session returns for its third season as Mike Schaefer is joined by veteran Fox broadcaster Kevin Kugler to break down Nebraska's season-opening 40-7 win over UTEP. The two discuss the expected but rare straight forward, dominating way the Huskers took care of a lesser team in UTEP and how Nebraska was able to flood-the-bench late in the game. From there the conversation shifted to Dylan Raiola and the veteran offense Matt Rhule and company put around the quarterback. When the conversation moved sides of the ball the two discussed how Tony White's defense responded to the only real adversity of the game and the overall depth of the front seven, as well as a few defenders who played well on Saturday. Finally there was plenty of discussion about Nebraska-Colorado and Kugler gave thoughts on why Rhule always seemed like a college coach in the NFL when their paths crossed initially and why he could be the right fit in Lincoln for a long time. Who could be on the sidelines for next week's Nebraska/Colorado game?
Bets of the North finishes this show with a big announcement of how it will be betting this season. But first, Tyler Shoemaker and Doug Lesmerises talking betting early lines, watching line movement, and live betting.Doug seems to understand it, but still loses money at it.Among the early games where the guys check the lines and discuss whether making a bet now makes sense are Iowa State-Iowa, Nebraska-Colorado, Alabama-Wisconsin, Georgia-Alabama, Ohio State-Oregon, Kansas State-Colorado and Ohio State-Michigan.Thanks for joining Bets of the North on Kings of the North and come back next Friday for best bets on real games in Week 1.
Changes to how college football teams recruit players and build rosters are ahead, and Doug Lesmerises has inside info on the future of the sport after attending a personnel and recruiting conference with almost 700 staffers from college football in Nashville. That discussion includes an interview with Mark Pantoni, the general manager of Ohio State football. But first, Doug looks at the energy of Nebraska football and the questions around Colorado football and what that might mean for their Week 2 matchup. How ready is Nebraska freshman QB Dylan Raiola? Why does everyone like to pile on Colorado? And what's the stat that proves Nebraska could make a major leap this season?Plus the energy at Utah, the cool leather helmets at Illinois and more. Thanks for joining Kings of the North.
The Husker247 Podcast resumed on Tuesday and hit on the topics that are on everyone's mind these days — Bryson Webber's commitment and NCAA Football 2025. Brian Christopherson breaks down the Webber commitment, why he stuck with Nebraska even after the coaching change, why the Huskers remain so high on the defender and other thoughts on the most recent addition. Conversation then shifts to where things stand with linebacker Will Hawthorne and how the Huskers are hoping to tackle some Kansas City recruiting efforts with the addition of Jamar Mozee on staff. Finally things finish up as Mike Schaefer walks through his NCAA 2025 experience, we learn which games BC used to play in his youth and the Huskers who have fair complaints over their low ratings. As a bonus both continue to hype up Nebraska-Colorado for early September. What college football games in the North will draw the most TV viewers this year? TV is controlling and reshaping college football, so on this Kings of the North, Doug Lesmerises and Bill Landis try to think like TV execs (like it or not) while drafting the Top 20 Northern college football TV games for this season.First, they dig into seven Northern CFB topics, including a huge recruit visit for Indiana, a new player at Purdue, some confused head coaches, the new EA Sports college football cover, returning production, a Kansas rumor and a 1-star review for Doug's gaslighting of himself over Colorado. Then it's the TV draft, where games like Ohio State-Michigan, Alabama-Wisconsin, Texas-Michigan, Colorado-Nebraska, Ohio State-Oregon and Penn State-West Virginia fly off the board.Which teams could be the new TV darlings of 2024?
