Again, lots happening on this episode of Talkin' Rock with Meltdown.  Jerry Horton of Papa Roach is first. We discuss their 2025 plans. Tour, new music, and more. He speaks to playing Detroit, trouble the band may have gotten into on tour, and playing with a marching band on stage in Columbus, Ohio. That's just for starters.  Michael Starr has the honors next. "Feel The Steel" is 15 years old and the band is celebrating. They're heading back out on tour and playing a song they wrote with Chad from Nickelback. He talks about that experience, as well as the addition of Spyder to the band, Superbowl predictions, and more.  We wrap it up with Eric Bass of Shinedown. The guy does it all, including writing, producing, and playing an entire solo album. Eric Bass Present: I Had A Name drops on February 28th. He tells me this project has been done for a while. We talk about his depression, a hero he lost who taught him a ton around the recording studio, and questions from bandmates Barry, Brent, and their head of security, John.

My guest this week is Jerry Horton, guitarist and founding member of the massively successful rock band Papa Roach. We talk about their pivotal role in creating what is now known as 'Nu Metal' and their resilience to that genre‘s somewhat bad connotations that has seen them remain successful and relevant for 30 (THIRTY) years. We also talk CARS, PRIMUS, METALLICA, and much more.    

Known for the metal anthems "Last Resort" and "Scars," Papa Roach is an enduring figure in the turn-of-the-century nu-metal scene. The band's 2000 album Infest went triple-platinum in the U.S. on the strength of "Last Resort." That was followed by Lovehatetragedy in 2002 (certified gold) and Getting Away with Murder in 2004 (certified platinum). Their concerts are a non-stop barrage that covers the band's twenty-plus years and, recently, a blazing cover of "Firestarter" by electronic act The Prodigy. In a great interview with Billboard's Behind the Setlist, Papa Roach singer Jacoby Shaddix and guitarist Jerry Horton talk about their stage show, maturing, starting their own record label and what T-shirt sells best on tour. The band is hitting the road this summer with European dates through before the opening for Shinedown on The Revolutions Live Tour starting Sept. 3 in St. Lous, MO. When it comes to customs, there is a fine line between getting it right, and getting it oh-so wrong. We've all seen what happens when design goes South, but what about the ones that nail it? The cars that, when you first see them, you immediately think, “ICON”. A little more than a decade ago, Papa Roach Lead Guitarist, Jerry Horton unveiled “Reprise”, his 1951 Mercury Custom. It was built by Max Fish of Bio Kustumz, and unbeknownst to them at the time, “Reprise” turned out to be one of the most elegant and handsome Mercury customs in existence.   On this episode of the Hemmings Hot Rod BBQ podcast, Jerry Horton sits down and talks with Mike Musto about his unbelievable career, what it's like to play in front of over 350,000 people, and then, how his stunner of a 1951 Merc came to life.
