Thanks to Disney, many Americans stereotype mermaids as mute and charming redheads. In Russia, though, the rusalka isn't sweet - she's got claws and a taste for blood. Marcus and Melissa dive in to Slavic folklore, spectacularly creepy makeup and a vintage campy monster movie. Also, would you rather die to spare your friends a horror death, or run for the hills and leave everyone to fend for themselves? Motion Picture Terror Scale: 2. Quality: 4. Personal enjoyment: 5 (Marcus) / 4 (Melissa) Articles mentioned in this episode: "Rusalka: The Mythical Slavic Mermaid," by Kerry Sullivan in Ancient Origins "Do You Love Me? This week, the randomizer gave us a dud of a film called Nymph, aka Mamula, aka Killer Mermaid (Not that the occasional dud isn't fun). With the excess of butts, occasional burst of violence, and lack of plot in this film, we still found plenty to talk about in the actual episode. Architecture! Grappling hooks! Exercise bikes! Very little about actual mermaids! We did the best we could with the material. Email: Pleasedontpodcast@gmail.com Facebook: facebook.com/pdsmios Twitter: twitter.com/outerspacepod Nymph (2014) Directed by Milan Todorovic Starring Kristina Klebe as Kelly Franco Nero as Niko Natalie Burn as Lucy Dragan Micanovic as Boban Miodrag 'Miki' Krstovic as The Guardian Slobodan Stefanovic as Alex Sofija Rajovic as Yasmin Zorana Kostic Obradovic as Scylla the Nymph
Luke Cage has finally been released on Netflix(!), so the guys binged and reviewed it for this week's episode. We are putting a spoiler tag on this episode. Spoilers begin at 50:20 and end at 59:48. Also under the scrutiny of the NNS guys is their one-star review, Killer Mermaid. Finally, Caleb regales us with the tale of how he lost his iPod and, more importantly, his PokeWalker.
