This week's Weekend Wrap-Up takes us around the racing region from Friday night lights at Kingsport Speedway where carnage was the theme of the second twin Late Model race to Dominion Raceway where the King of Late Model Stock Car racing swept the night but had to keep the locals at bay and a four-time National Champion keeping a championship hopeful in second. Plus we check in on the 24 hours of Carteret where the $10,000 to win Limited Late Model race was postponed from Saturday to Sunday and then it rained again and later the track came apart causing the 150-lap race to last just shy of five hours before the Hampton Heat winner from weeks ago picked up another big check. We'll also take a look at the rest of the racing from around the region with many tracks in operation including Bowman Gray Stadium, Orange County Speedway, Myrtle Beach Speedway and many points in between. Like what you hear? We debut another new podcast to the RACE22.com Podcast Network, House Calls with Doc Love. On this episode, Doc Love calls up Limited Late Model racers Jessica Dana, who was involved in a fiery accident at South Boston Speedway on June 1, 2019. She tells Doc about what happened in the crash and after as well as her discussion with Cathy Rice, the General Manager of South Boston Speedway and when she hopes to be back in a race car.
BooBoo Dalton joined us for RACE22 Radio Episode 11 to talk about racing in the Limited Late Model division and why he's stuck in that division and can't move up without some help. The crew also talks about all of the weekend happenings including the wild action at South Boston Speedway, plus season openers and racing at other tracks around the region.
On Monday, March 11, 2019 the guys were joined in studio by Hickory Motor Speedway General Manager Kevin Piercy, Limited Late Model driver Nathan Lineback and CARS Tour Race Director Chris Ragle.
We are joined by driver Neil Rutt III in the studio this week to discuss his latest return to racing in the Limited Late Model division at Wall Stadium Speedway. We also get his take on the latest Nascar news. Formula 1 is still on their break, and IndyCar had the week off, with little news from either series. We get into a rather heated debate on Hall of Fame requirements and we discuss some great local topics as we review last weekends’ excitement at our local short track.
