In this episode our Coaches explore the idea of retiring now-from those things keeping you from your purpose, calling, gifts and passion-all while leading to a life that you love! Let's look at redefining retirement and starting today.
In this episode, the FAQ says that one of our followers does not fly much. She asked me, “What's the best seat on the plane?” . Today's Destination is: Marietta, GA Today's Misstep- On Southwest, I paid twice for the Internet. Travel Advice: Get a good night's sleep on the road with a clear head in bed. FAQ: What's the best seat on the plane? That was the question asked by someone who doesn't fly much. Response: I think the best seat is a window seat, but you may prefer the aisle if you want to stretch your legs and walk around the cabin. On Southwest Airlines, there are no assigned seats, so you get the seat you want if you are one of the first to board. I love looking out the window and feel I have more privacy with that view. I also have at least one elbow rest that I can use. When I fly a budget airline, they ask me to buy a seat, but I rarely do that. They often seat me in the middle, but sometimes I get lucky. Today's destination: Marietta, GA I spent the day in Marrietta, GA, at the historic homes and cafe market by the old train station. Marietta Square is full of great local food stalls. I had a very fresh poke bowl. The city has charm, touristy vibes, and a local flavor. People settle here because they like the small-town feel. It's north of Atlanta, about 46 kilometers or 29 miles. You can take the MARTA from the airport and then transfer to Arts Center Station to bus, which will take you to the Marietta Transfer Center. Plenty of Airbnb and hotels will host you here. If you have a car, drive to Kennesaw, about 10 minutes drive Kennesaw, GA -special episode on this place? Blue Pineapple Travel Agency, Nicole and Casey were hiking ahead of me, and I asked them if this trail leads back to the Visitor's Center, and they said YES. So I started walking and talking; before you knew it, we were old friends. Today's Misstep: I was working on Southwest Airlines and paid for the internet twice. This was the first time that I used and paid for the internet. I used my Southwest Airlines mobile app to pay for it because it was convenient. I had trouble getting it, and a flight attendant helped me out. Then I told them I wanted to use my laptop for work, so I had to purchase a second time for that service. Each was only $8.00, and they offered me a refund when I asked for it. It should appear on next month's credit card statement as a refund. Today's Travel Advice- Get a good night's sleep on the road with a clear head in bed. When your head hits the pillow, make sure your brain is relaxed. Wind down your screen time at least a half hour before, and take a minute to think about what you're grateful for. That will give you a clear head and a good night's sleep most of the time when you travel. Today's case takes us to Marietta, Georgia. The book centered on this case was one of the first true crime books I had read, and it has always stuck with me. The book Secrets Never Lie: The Death of Sara Tokers- A Southern Tragedy of Money, Murder, and Innocence Betrayed is by R. Robin McDonald. It is November 29, 1992, and Thanksgiving weekend has just ended. 39-year-old Sara has been visiting with her parents and her sisters in Bradenton Florida for the holiday weekend but it was time for her and her two boys, 6-year-old Ricky and 4-year-old Mike load up the Toyota SUV to make the 9-hour trek back home to Marietta Georgia, an affluent suburb of Atlanta. After the three had departed, Sara's husband Fred called the parent's home to inquire if they were on the road yet. Fred, who had been there earlier, had departed earlier as he had a meeting with a client that he couldn't miss. Sara's father, Dr John Ambrusko had answered the call from Fred and told him they they had just departed. It was almost 10 pm when Sara and the boys pulled into her garage. Sara started to unload the car as one of the boys had fallen asleep in his car seat. As she was unloading, a strange man came out of the darkness. The man, who was carrying a sawed-off shotgun, forced Sara and little Ricky back into the car. What happened next is what nightmares are made of, what mothers fear most and is proof that true evil exists. It's Oscar season, and we keep discussing the event leading up to Hollywood's big night (admittedly, The Deucies are Hollywood's REAL Big Night, but they haven't figured it out yet.) And in an Oscar tradition that none of us are sure we've done before, Mikey and d$ invite in Friend of the Show, Lil G, Pride of Marietta Georgia, Radio Banker Apprentice, Garrison Ryfun to discuss the films of the major Oscar nominees, and which of those you should see... and which you should avoid at all costs. First, though, Madame Web. All three have seen it. All three have opinions, mostly starting with "Yikes." Then, the just-announced casting of The MCU version of Fantastic Four -- are Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal, and the other two the right call? Were there better names out there? Finally... starting at the top with Bradley Cooper, we go through 13 actors and actresses with a larger body of work (as in, no Lily Gladstone!), discussing their films we recommend to watch, and which ones you should probably skip overall, plus a Wild Card choice from each. We talk Greta! Emma! Margot! Ruffalo! Gosling! RDJ! and more. Plus, Mikey's hatred for "La La Land".
Today we stay closer to home and sit down with a great leader in Clay Smith who serves as the senior pastor of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in Marietta, GA. On this edition of Sunday night Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Chris Trevino and Shotgun Spratling team up to talk about what was a very eventful weekend for the USC athletics department. On the football front head coach Lincoln Riley landed another highly ranked player out of the NCAA Transfer Portal in former Alabama four-star defensive back Tre'Quon Fegans. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Fegans took an official visit to USC over the weekend and announced his commitment Sunday morning over social media. Fegans was rated as a cornerback out of high school but he brings the versatility to play safety or the nickel position for USC's defense. Soon after the elder Fegans committed to USC his younger brother Lott Trophy luncheon also picked the Trojans. Anquon Fegans is the top ranked safety in the 2025 recruiting class. The Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson product comes in at 6-foot-1 and 180-pounds and is Riley's first commitment for 2025. On the basketball side head coach Andy Enfield landed one of the biggest name prospects out there when Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon Bronny James announced he would be attending USC. The son of NBA all-time scoring leader LeBron James is the No. 26 ranked prospect in the class of 2023 and picked the Trojans over Ohio State and Oregon. The 6-foot-3 combo guard joins a recruiting class that includes the No. 1 prospect in the country, Isaiah Collier of Marietta (Ga.) Wheeler. USC baseball had been in a bit of a slump but got a great series win over a nationally ranked Oregon squad, keeping their postseason hopes alive. The USC women's beach volleyball squad won an exciting 3-2 match against rival UCLA to win the national championship. The Bruins were the No. 1 seed and had defeated the Women of Troy at the Pac-12 Championships last week. But head coach Dain Blanton's squad came to play on Sunday, earning the upset win and completing the three-peat with their third-straight national championship. She's also a public speaker and a story teller.Samantha was working disbatch during the riots that happened during the Black Lives Matter movement. Everyone has a different set of beliefs, but we live in America where we all have the freedom of speech - at least in theory - and we get to support that for everyone while marching for what we believe in. And maybe marching means not being afraid to share your beliefs in social media. Maybe it means standing up for people who have a difficult time standing up for themselves. What does it mean to you?In the audio program she shares 2 stories with us about how she learned to preserver.
