In this special episode, we give love to our athletes and coaches preforming on the international football scene across Europe and the UK. Matty O'Meara (Crusaders & Panthers); played on the Irish Wolfhounds u20s who played against AFW American Select team in 2018, he was due to start against Bristol Pride before that game was cancelled, he's now on the senior Irish Wolfhounds team. He has international playing experience in Spain and is currently quarterback for the Ravensburg Razorbacks in GFL1 in Germany. Kelly chats to him after his first game-start, as he prepares for a challenging upcoming fixture against the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns. Joe chats with Alex Kusmirek (Trojans & UCD), who both played together on the Irish Wolfhounds u20s. Alex is now a senior Irish Wolfhound who is no stranger to National Championships having won a number of them with the Trojans. He's also no stranger to international football, having played with Tamworth Phoenix, Kiel Baltic Hurricanes, and now with the Edinburgh Wolves who are currently pushing for a playoff spot. Alex gives insight to how international football can be beneficial, even when things don't go to plan. Last but certainly not least; Andy Dennehy (current OC for the Irish Wolfhounds, current coach for UCD, former quarterback and coach for the Dublin Rebels, 9-time Shamrock bowl winner; Rebels & UCD); and Michael Sykes (Irish Wolfhound and one of the top DBs in AFI for many a year; UCD), have played on opposing sides of the same pitch a number of times over the years. This Sunday 3rd of July, they'll meet again in the Tulip Bowl – the National American Football Championship in the Netherlands. Andy; OC of the Amsterdam Crusaders; will look to overcome the Rotterdam 010 Trojans. Michael; current DB on the 010 Trojans D; hopes to thwart that plan. And of course, we ask each of our guests a few questions about The Domestic Game! The Tulip Bowl will be livestreamed and the link is available here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CfZLJzoDKZl/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link With special thanks to Matty O'Meara, Alex Kusmirek, Michael Sykes and Andy Dennehy.

On today's episode of Way Too Interested, writer/comedian Heather Anne Campbell, the co-host of the gaming podcast https://www.earwolf.com/show/get-played/ (Get Played), talks with Gavin Purcell about her obsession, sneaker culture. Heather also talks about how she started doing live comedy when she was 14, why she no longer believes her interests and hobbies are totally in her control, and why her podcast — formerly known as How Did This Get Played? — moved away from "bad" video games. Then, Heather and Gavin are joined by Michael Sykes, sports reporter for USA Today and writer of the independent newsletter The Kicks You Wear. Michael talks about how sneakers helped him break into writing about sports, how the broader culture around sneaker culture went mainstream, and how to preserve your kicks for as long as possible. Plus: How the shoe industry changed all of collecting with the "drop" release model, and the story of the sneaker drop that literally caused a riot. Paid In Full, 1991 - present, a Gospel Trio from New Albany, Ms., will be the featured artists this week on The Gospel Jubilee.Listen to the Gospel Jubilee on your Echo device by saying, Alexa, play the Gospel Jubilee on Apple podcast.Or go to: https://api.spreaker.com/v2/episodes/48584733/download.mp3Paid In Full began their professional ministry while still in high school, singing in area revivals and camp meetings. Soon they were singing three nights a week all over the South, and were appearing in concert with some of Gospel music's finest artists, including The Gaither Vocal Band, The Happy Goodmans, The Martins, The Cathedrals, and the legendary Jake Hess. Jake first heard them in 1996, and immediately took Paid In Full under his musical wing, bringing them to his home church in Georgia for a concert, and introducing them to industry leaders and many of today's top Gospel musicians.Soon they were appearing in Gaither Homecoming Concerts all over the country as well as in such prestigious showcases as “Howard and Vestal Goodman and Friends” and “The Grand Ole Gospel Reunion.” They were performing in venues which are usually reserved for Gospel artists with much more experience and a longer list of credentials than such a young group can claim. As musical ambassadors since 1991, Paid In Full has been privileged to sing in churches with diverse denominational identities and has been widely accepted by each congregation. Celebrating what all Christians have in common, Paid In Full has worked to unify the body of Christ. As Southern Baptists, Paid In Full has been equally accepted by their own denomination. They have appeared at numerous LifeWay events and conventions as well as evangelism and pastors' conferences across the country. They have also sung in some of the nation's largest Baptist churches, including Bellevue Baptist Church in Cordova, Tennessee, and First Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi.Utilizing the talents of renowned Nashville producers Woody Wright and Michael Sykes, Paid In Full has released six major recordings, including four original Gospel projects, a Christmas collection, and an acoustic recording of hymns and favorites. Some of the industry's finest song writers have contributed their best original tunes to the group, helping Paid In Full produce over 10 Top 80 hit songs, as well as rave reviews from Gospel Music peers, press, and fans from all over the United States. Now, more than ever, Paid In Full is focused on presenting the Gospel of Christ through music. On television, in large metropolitan churches, or in small country churches, the mission is the same: share what Jesus Christ has done in their lives, and what he can do in the lives of every human being who will allow it. This is the message Paid In Full wants to deliver in their concerts and recorded music.Today's group members: Brock White, tenor, Lance Moore, lead, Bradley Littlejohn, baritone. Ashton Jeanlewis and Martyn Pape with the best and worst sports has to offer.
This is a newsletter about the Xs and Os of basketball, but now is not the time to stick to sports. George Floyd is dead, the latest in a long line of African Americans murdered by police officers. The absolute least — the absolute, absolute least — anyone must do is loudly advocate for justice, internalize the great pain people of color are experiencing, and confront our role in allowing systemic racism and police brutality to engulf our country. That goes for brands, too, especially brands that profit off black culture like professional sports teams, media outlets, and, crucially, sneaker companies. With a few notable exceptions, those brands are falling far short. Too many vague statements. Too much passive voice. Too many empty gestures that don’t facilitate real change. That’s why we dialed up old friend Michael Sykes to have an important, difficult conversation in this week’s podcast. Sykes is a staff writer at USA Today’s For the Win and the author of The Kicks You Wear newsletter on sneaker culture. If you haven’t read his latest newsletter post, go read it now. Topics include:General feelings about this important moment in human history. Why brands like Nike and adidas are falling short, and how to tell the difference between a good and bad public statement. How the absence of sports is forcing everyone to address these issues without any distractions. Can multi-million dollar corporations be trusted to also act as leaders for social change even if it risks costing them profits? Ben and I confront our own privilege and the importance of staying uncomfortable with the status quo.We briefly examine the historical forces that led us to this moment. This podcast is important. If you consume one thing on this website, make it this podcast. And heed Sykes’ words to close this podcast. They are incredibly powerful. Some supplementary reading material that we referenced in the pod:“This Week Has Happened Before” by Julia Craven for Slate.“A Night of Protest, Pain, and Peace in Brooklyn” by Tyler Tynes for The Ringer.“Rise of the Warrior Cop: The Militarization of America’s Police Forces,” a book by Radley Balko. This Twitter thread by Timothy Snyder, a Yale University professor of history.A list of places to donate.“The World’s Most Basic Guide To Contacting Your Reps” by Hannah Smothers of VICE.This Google Doc created by Jared Dubin, which has form letters to send to representatives in 100 different cities advocating for policies that demilitarize the police. It's the Wizards! Last year was pretty cool! Can they build on it, or is this another flash in the pan? We brought on Sports Illustrated's Andrew Sharp and Bullets Forever's Michael Sykes to join Wizards fan Mike Prada and co-host Ben Epstein to preview The Season After the Season. This is the 22nd of Limited Upside's 30 team previews leading up to next season. The Wizards are Mike's favorite team, so this is the episode of the Limited Upside countdown we've long anticipated. To help us, Michael Sykes and Lyndie Wood from SB Nation's Wizards blog Bullets Forever jump on to discuss what went wrong last year, why this summer's Kevin Durant whiff stings, what the offseason additions (and new coach Scott Brooks) can do to improve the team and whether there's any reason to worry about the tension between John Wall and Bradley Beal. Plus, plenty of Xs and Os talk, your questions and an odd sequence where the one non-Wizards fan (Ben) predicted a better win-loss record than the three Wizards supporters. This is the 13th of 30 podcasts examining each team's offseason and 2016-17 prospects with the members of SB Nation's team sites. We're going roughly in reverse win order from last year.
