Alysa Auriemma is an English Teacher and Assistant Coach for the Girls Basketball Team at Miss Porter's School in Farmington, Connecticut. She is also the daughter of UConn Women's Basketball Coach, Geno Auriemma. Alysa talks about growing up in Manchester, Connecticut, growing up around the UConn program, her own basketball career, and why she stopped playing in high school to focus on her greater passion, theater. She explains how much she has always loved reading, including bringing books to the UConn games, and her passion for writing. Alysa discusses why she chose to attend UConn, her own life there away from her father, going to NYC to pursue theater, her decision to return home, go back to school, and pursue English. She describes how she became an English teacher, working at her alma mater Miss Porters, and helping to coach the basketball team. She opens up about some viral moments she had as Geno's daughter, including her piece honoring Coach Pat Summit and tweeting at Morgan William congratulating her after she hit a buzzer beater against UConn. Alysa then talks about the novel she wrote, "All Daughters Rise" that is available now for pre-order, and will be released on January 4th, 2022. She describes her writing process, how she came up with the idea, what the book is about, why she decided to self-publish, and how she's already working on the sequel.

From the ESPNMediazone: Doris Burke, a versatile basketball commentator who calls both men’s and women’s college and pro contests, has covered basketball for ESPN since March 1991. She works a variety of ESPN assignments, including the NBA, women’s basketball regular-season and NCAA Championship, men’s basketball regular-season and Championship Week, in addition to other ESPN properties. As of today, you can eliminate covering women's basketball from that exhausting resume, as Burke announced yesterday's NCAA national championship game between South Carolina and Mississippi State will be her last, and she will be focusing on her other duties on the men's side. As the saying goes, she went out with a bang. This was one of the most watched women's basketball tournament final fours, with storylines, controversies, and a feel good ending, like all good drama has. I will not bore you with a recap of the weekend's theatrics and final four games; if you are reading this you have already read plenty! It is a pleasure to welcome Doris Burke to Dishin & Swishin for the first time, to help put the bow on the neatly wrapped package of the NCAA women's basketball season. Topics covered on the podcast include: The importance of Dawn Staley and South Carolina winning the championship in a historical sense, and as the heir to the UConn-Tennessee rivalryWhere to both South Carolina and Mississippi State go from here? Sustainability, and recruiting is keyVic Schaefer's decisions, especially the sitting of Morgan William in the championship game (spoiler: interesting take on her own coverage by Burke)A'ja Wilson and Alisha Gray both at this and the next levelHeir apparent to her spot, and the growth of coverage of women's basketball over the years until now For too long, I was intimidated by
