The Mets brought in Kodai Senga because of their urgency to win now. Are the expectations the same or higher compared to when Masahiro Tanaka was brought in by the Yankees.
Yes, the Cardinals start to the 2023 season has been less than ideal. But there's still plenty of time to bounce back and go on a run to the playoffs. Lots of encouraging signs such as with Nolan Gorman and Jack Flaherty lead us to believe the Cardinals are significantly better than we are giving them credit for. We break down series against the Rockies, Pirates, Diamondbacks, and Mariners. Will this team spiral or will the pieces be put back together? In NPB, Masahiro Tanaka reached a huge milestone, Roki Sasaki continues dominating, and Trevor Bauer makes his Japanese debut. Shohei Ohtani's dominance in the US continues as well with an absurd 0.64 ERA through 5 starts. Opening Day has come and gone. Here are the 10 biggest takeaways of the day for me. Join me as I recap the big takeaways and answer live listener questions along the way. These all require monitoring moving forward so do not take it as gospel. We have a long season ahead of us and this is just the beginning. Let's get into it. These videos and live streams will take place all season long. Players and topics Discussed: - 5x closers “confirmed” in Reynaldo Lopez, Dany Jimenez, Jose Leclerc, David Roberston and Michael Fulmer - Note for A's: Trevor May down 1.8 on both the 4-seam and the slider. - 2x career-best max EV from Daulton Varsho and Brendan Donovan - Logan Webb could take a step forward - Zac Gallen and Shane Bieber velo concerns - Don't sleep on Jose Siri. Siri hit a 110.5 mph HR. There is pop there to go with the speed. Just a matter of putting it all together. - White Sox with Oscar Colas sitting vs LHP (but pinch hitting and Oscar Colas hit a 109.4 mph single tonight. Tied for the 3rd hardest hit ball of the game. The power production will come) - Guardians with Will Benson starting over O. Gonzalez - Spencer Torkelson carried over hitting the ball hard but onto the ground. Just something of interest if he can elevate the ball more moving forward. - Masahiro Tanaka also had 2 batted balls over 100 mph - will it turn into game power? PASSED BALL SHOW #116 1/21/2014 Part 1 WITH FERGUSON JENKINS; I open up the show by giving the logic landing places for all the remaining big free agents, including taking a chance on where Masahiro Tanaka will land up by the time the show airs. I then speak with Hall of Fame RHP Ferguson Jenkins about his trade from Philadelphia, his success with the Cubs, his experience getting caught with cocaine in his bag and his induction into Baseball's Hall of Fame. I finish off by talking about my issues with OBP becoming too much a big deal in evaluation of a player

And, he is a cancer survivor who by far is not only the first person to come on this show with a story about a miracle that would help confirm a saint, but probably the ONLY person who will be a guest and have that kind of witness to share -- the closest that any of us will come to hearing something like this firsthand.
4-25-2022 Passed Ball Show. John "breaks" the "story" of Ben Simmons' projected return (or debut) for the Brooklyn Nets for the 2022 NBA Finals, but it will be a gametime decision. He then gives some props to the Toronto Raptors and Denver Nuggets for their performances in Game Four (4) of their respective series. John then talks about the under-discussed depth that both teams possess. John then knocks the Brooklyn Nets, claiming they do not have a performance like that in them, before claiming that they will lose Game Four against the Boston Celtics in an unspirited bow. John then speaks a little bit about the USFL and mentions two rule changes that he is interested in seeing how they pan out. He compares it to the rule experiments going on in Major League Baseball before making one final plea to get rid of the ghost runner extra innings rule. He suggests two remedies to extra innings that make more sense. He then spends some time paying his respect to the great Guy LaFleur, whom he calls Gretzky before Gretzky, before explaining why. We also lost former Oakland Raiders Quarterback Daryle Lamonica, who John spends a little bit of time remembering. Finally, John makes a good (well... I guess that is up to you) comparison of Roki Sasaki to Masahiro Tanaka.
This week, in honor of Opening Day in the MLB, we start the show by talking about our favorite Opening Day memories and what that day means for the players. We also talk about Brian's recent games in Japan, including what it was like facing off against former Yankees pitcher Masahiro Tanaka (:35 - 22:40). Then, we welcome on our guest for this week, Chicago Cubs first baseman Frank "The Tank" Schwindel (22:42 - 1:03:52). Frank, now entering his first full season as the Cubs' everyday starter at first base, talks about his journey to the big leagues, taking over for Anthony Rizzo, what it's like playing in Chicago, and so much more. On today's episode of Locked On Yankees, Stacey discusses the Yankees' sputtering ways over the past week and wonders what the heck is happening. Is it because of last week's ill-timed off-day? Is it the curse of Masahiro Tanaka? Nobody knows but the Yankees need to turn things around at some point or the road to a division title will be that much more difficult. Stacey also gives you some stats about just how putrid the Yankees' offense currently is and previews tonight's matchup between Tyler Glasnow and Domingo German.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. On today's episode of Locked On Yankees, Stacey discusses the Baseball Hall of Fame voting results. There was a voting shutout for the first time since 2013—three players gained entry via the Veterans Committee. Curt Schilling who was closest to being entered was denied for a ninth time, as were Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens and this sets up a possible contentious 10th and final year on the ballot for all three players. Stacey goes through the results and talks about Schilling's statement made after the announcement. Then as she was about to discuss Masahiro Tanaka possibly heading back to Japan, some breaking Yankees news came over the wire—the wire being Twitter—and Stacey has that news for you as well!Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. The Twins need to fill at least one spot in their rotation before breaking for camp next month. Could free agent Masahiro Tanaka be a fit? Tanaka has eaten up the Twins in the postseason. How about a trade target in Pirates righty Joe Musgrove? He's likely available. Let's dive in to both of these options for the Twins.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! On today's Locked On Yankees, Stacey discusses the slow and boring offseason so far and the horrible feeling she has about the New York Yankees, and their hesitance to sign some players. She worries that the Yankees will "make do" with what they have and not try to bolster the starting rotation, and she discusses some quotes from Brian Cashman, which led her to this conclusion. Stacey also talks about the possibility of Masahiro Tanaka staying in New York but signing with the Mets. And she lets you know who the Yankees signed this week. Locked On Giants – Daily Podcast On The San Francisco Giants
On today's Locked On Giants podcast, host Ben Kaspick talks about which free-agent starting pitchers fit the San Francisco Giants—and which don't. He discusses how Trevor Bauer, Masahiro Tanaka, Jake Odorizzi, José Quintana, and James Paxton fit, or don't fit, the Giants' plans. One is downright dominant, but likely to be expensive. A couple are intriguing, but have major injury concerns. Who stands out as someone who fits the Giants? One thing is certain: the Giants will be tapping into this market, as they're in somewhat desperate need of starting pitching help.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!
