I pledge allegiance to the flag of The United States Of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Oh, beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain, for purple purple mountain majesties above the fruit America is back. Yes, sir. And I know the Democrats are kicking and screaming about it at every chance they get. The latest thing that's got them oh, I can't believe even Thomas Massie is coming talking out about speaking out about this executive order by president Trump on burning the flag. Now I saw I saw this story today over on Facebook, and I was like, I just had to hang my head because it was from a local television station. And I'm using that in quotes local television station because, apparently, this Fox affiliate gets their news from CNN. Oh, that's lovely. That's perfect. So I wanna read to you the headline. Now remember, words I love when Rush Limbaugh used to say this. Words mean things. So the headline over at WYFF, man arrested after burning American flag in front of White House. So what does that lead you to believe? That leads you to believe that a man was arrested for burning an American flag at the White House. But that's not the story. That's nowhere near the story. So they're going to say a man was arrested after burning an American flag in front of the White House. Jay Carey, who identified himself as a twenty year combat veteran, said he did it to protest president Donald Trump. Secret service officers arrested him and doused the burning flag with a fire extinguisher. Now what do I always tell you? Gotta go down to at least the fourth or fifth paragraph to get the actual story. That's where we find the actual story. Park police, which has jurisdiction over the area, said it's illegal to light a fire on land controlled by the National Park Service except in designated areas. So this twenty year combat veteran was not arrested for burning an American flag. He was arrested for burning anything. You can't burn anything on Parkland. You can't. You gotta have you gotta have permission. You can't set up you can't take the New York Times and set it on fire. Can't take a milk carton and set it on fire. You can't do that. It's not allowed, and you will be arrested if you do because it's illegal. The fact that it was an American flag really is not even germane to the story. He was arrested for burning anything. But, boy, they ran with that. The incident came just hours after Trump signed an executive order enacting stricter penalties for flag burning. In 1989, the Supreme Court ruled flag burning is protected form of speech under the first amendment. Okay. What does president Trump's executive order actually say? Okay? Alright? The order does not explicitly criminalize flag burning. Ta da. Ta let me say it again. Ta da. It does not explicitly criminalize flag burning, but it directs the justice department led by attorney general Pam Bondi to vigorously prosecute, are you ready, individuals who desecrate the flag in ways that violate existing laws, such as those involving violent crimes, hate crimes, property, destruction, or incitement of imminent lawless action. It also instructs federal agencies to refer flag burn flag desecration cases to state or local authorities if they violate local laws, like open burning restrictions or disorderly conduct statutes. So if you're out there and you're at a protest and you're burning the American flag and there's a flag, no, you know, no burning or a burning ban in place, guess what? You're gonna go to jail. Good. That's not protected speech. So all these people that are out there, oh, I can't believe but you know what? I there were a lot of people out there that actually support this. I want you to listen to this one senator, from New York. I I forget her name. Oh, that's right. Hillary Rodham Clinton. So I hope, mister president, that we can pass a law that criminalizes flag bu ...
Welcome back to the program. Let's go to the WRID talk line. We'll talk to Matt in Greenville. Matt, welcome. Hey, Charlie. What's going on, Matt? I read a book in 02/2008, and I remember because I was recouping from an accident. So I remember the date. And it was called While Europe Slept, and a gay guy wrote it. And I can't remember if he was from Copenhagen or Amsterdam, but he was talking about the way they were you know, gay guys were getting treated in Europe. And the one thing I remember him talking about was the percentages. And he said when Muslims get to be about 30% of the population, you you're gonna start getting no go zones and Sharia law courts, and the politicians are gonna get scared. Because if they if they buck the if they buck the trend, they'll get killed. Yeah. And he said it would all in Europe, it would all come to a head in about 2030. And this was before all the Turks moved to Turkey, to Germany, and all the Pakistanis moved to, England. Right. Right. And so it's about five years ahead of schedule of what he said. But, you know, it it's it it it it looked to me, it looked like the guy had a crystal ball. You know what, though? I mean, you, Matt, you you said, Matt, that, it's happening before he said, I don't really think we've hit the crescendo of all of this yet. Well, it hadn't happened here. Yeah. I'm talking about, like, what's going on in England because I'm gonna keep this g rated. Yeah. But I don't I don't going on in England with these assaulting women gangs. Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. I don't think that's reached its peak yet. And I Oh, no. And I tell you what, I mean Well, I tell you what, Matt. If you'll listen off here, I'll tell you exactly what I'm talking about. I wanna go to Janice first and talk to her. Janice, welcome. Hi, Charlie. I listen to your show just about every day. Thank you. I hear what I say. You're welcome. I wanna say something that I have been thinking about for quite some time. We all know that years ago when Trump was, in politics in in in in New York, he he was loved by the by the left. They gave him words. They didn't think he was a racist because, people gave him awards for being great to to black people. He got he got the NAACP award with Rosa Parks. Right. Now well, let me say one thing that bothers me. I think we're letting the left get away with this narrative. We hate Trump. He's a horrible person. He's a Nazi. He says, listen. They would hate anybody in the conservative Republican party or even an independent that wants to run. Anybody who that believes in law and order and that believes like Trump does that we are supposed to pay attention to the citizens of this country first and not cater to all these people that have walked in over over the border, and and they're gonna do this and that for them. They this is all to do them, their voting, and get them into the into the country so that they can become the permanent political party. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. That's absolutely the plan. We do a misjustice to Trump and and everyone that is a conservative by saying, oh, yes. They hate Trump. No. It's not that they hate Trump. They will hate anybody that wants to be a law abiding person who cares about this country. Well, that's what that's what I've always said. If if you think they hate Trump, they really hate you. I appreciate it, Janice. Thank you very much. So let's go back to what, the last caller Matt was talking about. And I got a text that kinda ties into this because we were talking about that young 14 year old Scottish girl who was on the verge of being assaulted by an immigrant, and she pulled out a knife and a hatchet, and they arrested her and sent her to jail. Okay? Now if you look at what's going on in Scotland, as far as rapes are concerned, this is is gonna boggle your mind. There is a new Scottish law guidelines, and it says the rights of rapes rape victims should not be prioritized over their attackers. Let me read that to you ag ...
Hey, Charlie. Let's talk. It's the right talk. Charlie. Welcome. This is the Charlie James Show. Now we're talking. News talk 98 9. Talking to ORT. The police at The Carolinas. Welcome to the program on your Tuesday afternoon. Thank you so much for tuning in. What a wonderful, beautiful day we got going on outside. Gonna get even nicer tonight. Lows are gonna be getting down there. Upper fifties, early, or, low sixties. That's gonna be really, really nice. I I've got a question for you guys, to start the show off with. What are you people doing over there in Greenwood? What is the what is going on with you folks? And your earthquakes, what are you doing over there? You having you a big party over there or something? Everybody's jumping up and down? Can you believe the amount of earthquakes that Greenwood has had? This is from let's see. A cluster of small earthquakes has shaken communities in Greenwood County, South Carolina with the US Geological Survey confirming at least 13 quakes since August 19. 13. I know what it is. I know what it is. 13. That's Taylor Swift's lucky number. And now she's gotten engaged. You guys were just ramping up the whole engagement thing for I know I know you people. Most of the seismic activity was recorded near Koronica, an unincorporated community about seven miles east of Greenwood according to the USGS. 11 of the earthquakes struck within a sixty four hour span from August 23 to August 25 with magnitude ranging from 1.7 to three point zero. Two of the strongest quakes, a 2.9 and a three point zero, struck early August 23. Reports of shaking, were widespread with the three point o magnitude tremor, and that was felt as far away as Rhode Island where I was. I didn't notice any shaking when I was on Rhode Island, but, again, I was at Taylor Swift's house. Not technically. Not actually in her house, but I was there on the outside of her house. But, anyway, it's all Taylor Swift today because she and, Kelsey, got engaged. So I know nobody cares. I don't either. But, it's pretty amazing. South Carolina Emergency Management also confirmed another 1.7 magnitude earthquake, Northwest Of Corona around 05:04 yesterday afternoon. Didn't feel that one either. Man, that's a lot of earthquakes. You guys are going so we had a 2.2, 1.7, 2.9, three point o, 2.5, 1.9, and yada yada yada. Man, I'm telling you. Got a little got a little earthquake cluster going on over there in Greenwood. So y'all be careful out there, man. You never know when the big one is gonna hit. Well, the Democrat National Committee, the DNC, they're having their annual meeting this week in Minneapolis of all places, and they have done something today. They started out with this. It was a resolution to condemn the first six months of the Trump presidency. Let's now move to resolution number two, condemning the first six months of the second Trump administration discussion. Seeing no further discussion, all those in favor signify by saying aye. Aye. Any opposed? Resolution two passes. So they condemned the first six months of the president's administration, 47. Right? So what are they actually condemning? What are they here's and, boy, I tell you what, here's what what I always say, you just look at what they applaud. What is this saying? Your boos don't affect me. I've seen what you applaud. Look at what they applaud. Look at what they love to hate. Deporting criminal illegal alien aliens. They don't like that. Securing the border. Oh. Exposing government waste, fraud, and abuse. Oh, how dare they? Cracking down on crime in US cities. Oh, no. No. Can't have that. Securing peace deals. No. Banning men from invading women's private spaces, stopping the chemical and surgical castration of children, ending radical political indoctrination in schools, creating historic trade deals, bringing trillions of dollars worth of investment to The United States. These are the things that the Democrats do not like. They don't like that ...

Charlie speaks. You listen on your time. Get the show on demand. Text podcast to 809050989. The Charlie Jane Show on News Talk 989, w o r d. The voice of The Carolinas. Here's what I'm and I always always use this, this analogy with Trump. He's it's just like the television show House. Just like the TV show House. Every episode, somebody comes in, they got this strange disorder or disease, and House says, well, it's it's this. And everybody goes, no. It's not that. It doesn't have this symptom and that symptom and that symptom and all of that. And House is like, I know what it is. Now you don't, House. You're an idiot. And then at the end of the episode, it always turns out that House was right. You know, it's it's basically every episode of House. So now they're all like, oh, I can't believe Trump is doing this, and I can't believe. You are learning you are running out of things very quickly for you not to believe Trump is doing. Oh, I can't believe he's gonna do this. Oh, oh, I can't believe Trump is imposing all those tariffs. How have those worked out? We're we're we're bringing in what? $260,000,000,000 over that into the treasury because of tariffs? 260 and it's more than that, actually, once you annualize it. Oh, I can't believe it. Well, just sit back and watch. That's what I'm gonna do. This is a guy that I voted for. This is a guy I support. So when president Trump says, hey. You know what? We're gonna take troops into Washington DC, and we're gonna clean that town up. I'm like, okay. Let's see what goes on here. And he's been an amazing success. There are people now able to walk the streets of Washington DC. They can do that now. They can go out in public. They're not worried about being, you know, robbed and mugged and beaten and raped. Yeah. So I'm just gonna let these things play out. So then I'm hearing all of this stuff, and I'm we're gonna talk about this coming up in a little bit. Charlie. Oh, Charlie. Can you believe that Donald Trump has made it illegal to burn the American flag? Can you believe that's what he did? Oh, Charlie. I can't apparently, all you read was the headlines. All you read were the headlines. You know nothing about what the executive order actually says. Well, we'll break that down for you coming up in just a wee bit. But right now, they're talking about maybe, and he's not gonna send troops. He's not gonna send the National Guard into Chicago without the governor asking. That's what Trump said. But here's old JB Pritzker, also known as the, the state puffed marshmallow man. Here he is. To tell the president that his proposed actions will make our jobs harder and the lives of our residents worse. Earlier today in the Oval Office, Donald Trump looked at the assembled cameras and asked for me personally to say, mister president, can you do us the honor of protecting our city? Instead, I say, mister president, do not come to Chicago. You are neither wanted here nor needed here. Your remarks about this effort over the last several weeks have betrayed a continuing slip in your mental faculties. What an idiot. What an idiot. So what they're doing in these country in these cities all across America, the Democrat run cities, they're actually fudging the books. They're cooking the books on crime. They're they're they're listing homicides as accidental deaths. They're downgrading assaults. They're not even counting some violent assaults. They're not doing that. So they're cooking the books on crime to make themselves look better. Meanwhile, who is actually being hurt? The citizens of places like Chicago. In fact, the governor of Maryland, Wes Moore, has said that over 300,000 people have left Baltimore because of crime. Remember when Trump called Baltimore a blank hole and the media went all crazy about it? It's a rat infested I'd love this. It was great. He called it a rat infested blank hole. So they they they sent a reporter out, and this reporter was out in Baltimore. And s ...
The last story I told you about, I credited WYFF for that headline, and I apologize. It was actually, Fox Carolina, that ran that story. However, I went over and I checked on WYFF's website, and they ran the exact same story only from the Associated Press. So all of these local news stations are going along with it. In fact, I'm looking at a guy right now, over on, x, breaking. A veteran was just arrested outside the White House for burning the American flag. In 1989, the Supreme Court ruled that flag burning is protected under speech under the first amendment. Oh, oh, do you mean that that means that I can go into a school in a classroom and I can burn the American flag because it's protected under freedom of speech? Is is that what you're telling me? Oh, oh, does that mean that I can go to a store that sells propane, and I can stand in front of those propane canisters, and I can burn the American flag and nobody can say anything about it because that's protected speech? Is that what you're telling me? Are you telling me that I can burn the American flag anywhere and under any circumstance that I want? Is that what you're telling me? Because it is protected by the first amendment. That's what you're telling me? I can go out into a hospital room where a patient is on oxygen and burn the American flag because it's protected under freedom of speech. This guy didn't get arrested for burning the American flag. He got arrested because he burned something. He burned anything. That's that's just it. It wasn't the flag. The flag was inconsequential. You can't burn anything in front of the White House, period. Man, I'm telling you, these people, they're even even these so called journalists out there, completely missing everything because they've got one thing in common, their unbelievable hatred of Donald Trump. We hate him so much. We won't even pay attention to the truth anymore. We won't we won't even oh my goodness. They're crazy. They're literally nuts. Over at CNN, they are revealed that, the Democrats are actually suffering from depression. Duh. The problem that he is facing is that the depression And he's talking about the head of the RNC right now. The problem that he I'm sorry. He's talking about the head of the DNC right now. The problem that he is facing is that the depression among Democrats is really there, and he has a lot of, both mental and, literal debts that, he has to be paying at the, at the DNC. There's been a lot of problem with fundraising, a lot of Democrats who are not, willing to put the money there. And also, millions of debt from Kamala Harris' campaign that I get into in the story up on our site that has never really been reported before exactly what happened. And even hundreds of thousand dollars of debt, or or payments that are going to Joe Biden's legal bills for the oversight hearings that are, on Capitol Hill. It's a lot of things that are coming together and making it even more difficult for Democrats as they are trying to figure out the way forward into the midterms next year and beyond. Yeah. They are really hurting. Right now, the DNC only has $14,000,000 cash on hand. $14,000,000. And they have agreed to pay Kamala Harris's campaign debts. We're talking about millions of dollars. Kamala Harris ended her failed $1,500,000,000 campaign with $20,000,000 of debt. $20,000,000, and the DNC is gonna cover that. Now since then, old Kamala Harris has been doing something kinda kinda backstabbingly. Harris has been raising money from donors without disclosing the money was actually going to pay off her campaign debt. Oh, maybe somebody ought to be looking in the into that over the, federal elections commission. FEC ought to come up with some sort of an investigation, raising money from donors, thinking it's gonna go to whatever campaign, but it's not. It's gonna go to hers. 15,000,000. Well, I guess I guess Beyonce doesn't come cheap. I guess Megan Thee Stallion and Bruce Springsteen. I gu ...

I'm doing fantastic, buddy. What's going on with you? Not too much, man. But I just really, you know, I first of all and, you know, I love you and everything, man. I listen to you just about every day. Thank you. I the Mad World thing, man, that's a little demonic, man. I gotta say. I just wanna appreciate it. Have you ever been? Yeah. I've been. I took my kids and everything, and it just scared the the crap out of them, man. It was terrible. It's a hey. Listen. I know, man. But for those people that love that, they love it. They love it. It's been going on for fifteen years. I know. I know. But it's a bit demonic for my taste. But here here's my question here, Charles. So I've been promised, man, nothing but lower prices and lower gas prices, lower grocery prices, you know, all this stuff. And and all I'm saying is it just going skyrocketing right up in the sky, man. Every single day. I haven't I haven't noticed anything skyrocketing, and I go to the grocery store too. I work at a grocery store, brother. I see it every single day. Like, I work in a grocery store, and I see every single day. I'm I'm every Wednesday when I gotta put So what you so wait wait. Hold on. So this up. So you've got some grievances with Trump. Even though inflation is stagnant, unemployment is stagnant name. You've well I did not say else would you be talking about? You just put my point across very well, sir. Thank you very much. Who else would you be talking about? Are are you would you be talking about maybe the owner of your grocery store? About maybe the grocery store chain increasing the prices? Maybe that might be the problem, young Sam. Let's go to Billy in Greer and talk to him. Billy, welcome. Hey, Charlie. How are you? I got a couple of things to talk on. Alright. First is burning the flag. Yeah. I was a boy scout raised up rural county. You do not burn the flag. You can bring it to the Boy Scouts of America. We will take and we will retire that American flag the way it's properly supposed to be. Right. Second is who they're going after. I am a descendant of Melungeon. I don't know if any of your viewers know about hell, I'm 50 years old, and I just learned about Melungeon a couple of years ago. Yeah. And I am of Melungeon descent. And what is that? A Melungeon is we are some they say we could be possibly the lost people of Roanoke. Ah, where is that? Yes, sir. Where the people, they they were left there. Some of the English people went back to England, and they never come back for so many years. And the people of Roanoke wound up migrating with immigrants of Portuguese, Native Americans, African Americans, all kinds of people. So who are they gonna go after next? I mean, I'm all American. I'm just an American. They're coming after you first then. You're you're you're absolutely coming after, they're coming after you next. Billy, I appreciate it, buddy. Thank you very much. But who they don't wanna go after are the criminals. They hate people that wanna go after the criminals. So CNN went out, and they were trying to interview, a young woman on the streets of Chicago about crime. Let's take a listen to what she said. Our first reaction was that this is a good thing. I think that the governor as well as, the mayor should be on board with it just so we can get a bit more of security in Chicago the way that we need. The the crime has dropped since 2024. Do you feel like the city feels safer? No. Not at all. No. Especially with the police being defunded. Yeah. Exact see? And this is a young African American woman on the streets of Chicago. Crime has been going no. Gosh. CNN. They're absolutely worthless at news. They ought to take one of those in at ins out of CNN because they don't do news. That'll be CP and cable propaganda network b ...
And welcome back to the program. Let's go to Jeff in Townsville to talk about Leticia James. Jeff, what's on your mind? Well, it's a fantastic win on these court cases that Trump's getting. Yeah. But I wanna know who's paying for these court cases because you know that ain't free. No. No. That's that's the people of the district. And they they thought Trump was gonna cover some of that with the 500, million dollar settlement, but that's not the case either. So the people of the state of New York, thank you so much for your donation. Right? Exactly. So I I I don't get it. I really don't, Jeff. I appreciate it. Well, here's the thing, though. The Democrats don't get it. Now listen. Don't tell them don't tell them that they don't get it. I mean, how many times what has been the great Democrat talking point for 2025? What's it been? How have they resonated with the American people? Look at all of the people that they're they're defending. They're defending Gilmore Abrego Garcia. They're defending the truck driver who killed three people. They're defending criminals. They don't want the streets of Washington DC cleaned up. And there's a reason for that. Because if those people in Washington DC, like they're seeing now, get a little bit of a taste of what safety and security is all about, they're gonna want more. They're gonna want more. Not only they're gonna want it in Washington DC, they're gonna want it in Baltimore. They're gonna want it in Chicago. They're gonna be they're gonna want it everywhere. They're gonna want it in Atlanta. And that means the Democrats are gonna lose control, and that's the last thing they want. All they want is the power. But they don't know they cannot come out and say that. They cannot say what they really believe. They're only using Gilmore, Abrego, Garcia as a photo op. That's it. They don't care where he goes. They could give a rat's rump. They don't care. They don't care about the so called migrants. They don't care about the African American community. They don't care. The only thing they care about and listen. I was in the land of old white liberals this past weekend. I mean, I might have been in the epicenter. I am literally hold on. I am literally trying to to just rack my brain and think if I saw any, you no. I don't think I saw a single black person. Not one African American. And we're talking about this a this a pretty big tourist town, but, I didn't see anybody there in the land of Black Lives Matter. Where were they? Where were they? Oh, oh, oh, oh, I saw some Hispanics there. They were trimming the manicured hedges in Westerly and Stoningtonborough, but that's it. That's it. So the Democrats, they don't have a brand right now. They don't. And the American people are starting to figure that out. Even I I love this. This is Harry Enton, from, over on on CNN. Once you listen to what he said Look. The Democratic brand right now has about the appeal with the American voter as the Cracker Barrel rebrand has with the American consumers. Bad. Bad. Bad. What are you doing? Oh my goodness gracious. What are we talking about here in terms of big party registration changes in the key swing states? Let's look at the key four swing states that in fact do keep track of registration by party. Look, the Republican party is in their best position at this point in the cycle since at least 2005 and all four of these key battleground states. We go out to the Southwest, Arizona. How about Nevada? Republicans haven't done this well since 02/2005. Oh my goodness gracious at this at this point in the cycle. North Carolina, I couldn't find a point at which Republicans were doing better at this point in the cycle. It's at least this century. It probably goes way back in the last century. And Pennsylvania, very similar. Republicans doing better at this point than at any point at any point this century, at least as far as I I could find. Look. The And, yeah, and and the only thing is the only ...
Welcome back to the program. Let's go to the WORD talk line. We'll talk to Gerald in Cowpens. How are you doing, Gerald? Alright, my brother. Hope glad that you're back, my man. I'm glad to be back. What's up? Hey. Are the oysters in season in Rhode Island? You know, the car down here They are. Down here the car down here, it's always the month with an r in it. Yeah. Yeah. I'd it's a little different up there, but they are in season, and they are fantastic. Sheila and I went out, Saturday night and had three dozen oysters between the two of us. Unbelievable. But we, you know, have gotten back and forgotten how to do everything around here. Let's go with this. I pledge allegiance to the flag of The United States Of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Oh, beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of rain, for purple mountain majesties above the fruit America is back. Yes, sir. Alright. Let's go back to the WRD talk line. We'll talk to Paul in Hodges. Paul, what's going on with you, man? Hey, man. I'm just trying to, tell him tell everybody that on. I think president Trump's doing a great job. Yeah. He is doing absolutely fantastic job. I mean, look at that. Look at that. Look at everything that he's done in just a little over seven months now. It's been amazing. Yes. I mean, that that thing we did have in there didn't do nothing. You are exactly and I'm talking literally nothing but try to destroy this country. You're right about that, Paul. President Trump doing a great job. And now we've got even more good news. A New York state appeals court and this isn't the end of this, by the way. I just wanna let you know. A New York state appeals court on Thursday tossed out a massive monetary fine for civil business fraud imposed on president Donald Trump, his company, and other defendants related to the lawsuit by state attorney general Leticia James. Now let's go and remember what Leticia James said. And that is why I will be honored when I walk into that courtroom on October 2. Well, my role is civil, but I will come back before you soon with a check for $250,000,000. Yeah. The best we can do is zero. Sorry. Sorry, Leticia. No four what? I it got over 500 half a billion dollars in fines between her and and George George, George Ingeron. They overstated everything. Now remember, this was a, quote, unquote, crime that nobody said happened. There was no lending institution, no organization that accused Donald Trump of committing fraud. In fact, on every single transaction, there was always a disclaimer that these estimates are done and I'm paraphrasing here. These estimates are done using customary, accounting standards, basically saying, listen. This is the way we do things. If you don't agree with it, you do your own due diligence. But nobody did. Nobody wanted to because they were doing business with Donald Trump, and they wanted to do business with Donald Trump. So they did, and they were happy to do it and would do it again. But Leticia James, who, by the way, is under investigation her own self, she decided that Donald Trump, with no complaints whatsoever, committed some sort of fraud. Now she actually did what she accused Donald Trump of doing. She said she bought a four bedroom rental unit, but actually was a five bedroom rental unit. Why would she do that? Well, got a better loan on that one. Got better insurance rates on that one. That is mortgage and insurance fraud. Said she lived at a residence that she didn't live at. Then on one document, it appears that she put her father down as her husband in order to get a VA loan. You see, VA loans are only available to military members and their spouses. Leticia James is not a member of the military. Her husband, not a member of the military. Her father, however, member of the military. So from what I'm hearing, she said that her father was well, that's fraud as well. They're a ...
And welcome to the program on your Monday afternoon. And, boy, I tell you what, it is good to be back in a red state. I was I was up in in the blue state capital of the world. Two of them. We were up there in, Rhode Island and Connecticut over the weekend. And, man but did you know what? The only and I mean this. The only political banners, signs, or flags that we saw while we were in Rhode Island and Connecticut, were Trump. I didn't see I didn't see I didn't see any Gavin Newsom 2028 signs. I didn't see any old faded Biden Harris signs. I didn't see any old faded Harris Walt signs. I didn't see any of those things. The only signs that I saw. And one of them was a guy in in a pickup truck. I thought it was great. He was flying a, thin blue line American flag, and he was flying a Trump flag, and we gave him a good honk there. Way to go. Thumbs up, buddy. Thumbs up. Good job. Now Rhode Island voted for I think I think they got I think it was 51. No. No. No. It's like fifty six forty four, something like that, for Kamala Harris. But Trump was able to win some counties that hadn't been won since Reagan in that election. So that that was pretty cool. But, anyway, had a great time. Now I'll be honest with you. I was a little worried when I left to take a couple days off. Because the last time I took a couple days off, I came back, and it seemed like all you know what broke loose. You folks had not minded the store. But this time, I have to commend you. You did a great job. You did a great job while I was away. So while I was away, I'm sitting there, and I'm, you know, still working while I'm away, you know, scrolling on my phone, looking for for breaking news stories. And I see several stories that I just went, wow. Number one, what? Nine days with no murders in Washington DC? Nine days? People in Washington DC are like, man, we're loving this. We're we're able to get out there and and walk around and and do things. That's absolutely awesome. Right? Yeah. You know it is. You know if you are a a resident of New York City, I mean, Washington DC, that you gotta be loving life right about now. Right? Yeah. Then I saw that that big giant what was it? $400,000,000 fine against Donald Trump or something ridiculous like that from Leticia James. That got thrown out. Yay. Big win for Donald Trump. Then I saw that the stock market hit another record high. Another big win for Trump. Then I saw that Canada moved all the retaliatory tariffs on The United States. Another win for Trump. But this one, I had to kinda double check. Had to double check this one because I was I was scrolling down there, and it says, FBI rage John Bolton's home. And I was like, no. No. They did not. Shut up. And then move along, move along, move along. And then it popped up again. And I was like, oh, no. Hold on. There's something else. And then we find out that, yes, indeed. The FBI did raid John Bolton's home, and I think it's absolutely glorious. I mean, this remember, this was the same guy that had no problems whatsoever with the FBI raiding Mar A Lago. No. No. Let's see how how many well, that that seemed to be the catchphrase all over Washington DC when the FBI raided Mar A Lago. Well, let's see how this plays out. Well, let's see all of the well, it didn't play out very well, did it? No. It did not. In fact, president Trump talked about it. This is, this is Trump talking about the raid on Mar A Lago and John Bolton. Are more raids like that coming, sir? Are more raids like the ones on John Bolton's house coming? More raids? I don't know. So you have to ask the Department of Justice. They raided my house. I can tell you that. They did a big raid on my house. They took away everything that wasn't pinned down, and they took away some of that too. No. They raided Mar A Lago. They started that. And these were bad people that we had in our government before. They raided Mar A Lago. They went into my wife's area. They went into my son's area, my ...
And welcome back to the program. Somebody on the text line said, Charlie, you forgot about Cracker Barrel. Oh, yes. Now here's the thing. We're in Westerly, Rhode Island, right up there near Taylor Swift's $15,000,000 mansion over in the neighborhood of Watch Hill. They've only got one cracker barrel in the entire state of Rhode Island. That's in Coventry, Rhode Island. We are down Southwest Of Coventry, miles and miles and miles away. Gotta take I 95 from Westerly, up to Covington. They're talking about it there. They're talking about this unbelievable debacle of Cracker Barrel, and I don't owe and I'll tell you this little more about the story coming up. But they're trying to say now they're trying to say now that they've still got the barrel. The barrel is still there. They haven't gotten rid of the the barrel, the Cracker Barrel. It's just been turned on its side. Yeah. The barrel is just over on its side. That's all. That's all. It's still there. Still got a barrel. Everything's gonna be great. Everything's gonna be wonderful. That's all it is. Just turn the bell over on its side. That's all we do. That's all we do. Nothing more than that. It's great. Everything's gonna be wonderful. They they I alright. I'll tell you this story real quick. Got home last night, took the dogs for a walk, met up with our neighbors that we always see, walking their dogs, and we had it. We always have great conversation. And they went to Cracker Barrel this weekend because they wanted to see what was going on, And they talked to the waitress. They said, hey. Got some changes happening. And the way you know what the waitress did? She said, oh, let me go get the manager. They had this thing planned out. They had it planned out. So the waitress goes and gets the manager, and the manager comes out there, and he's got his talking points. He is like, oh, all we're doing is there's no no that Cracker Barrel that you saw, online, that was that was just it just looked like that because they were painting it. That's all. No. No. No. And this and, again, we're just keeping the the barrel. We just turned it over on its side, and there's listen. People aren't buying that crap. People aren't buying it. Literally, they're not buying it. John Rich post a picture, this weekend of a Cracker Barrel. I believe it was in Tennessee. Now if you don't think Cracker Barrel should be a very popular place in any of the states, Tennessee might be way up there at the top. The parking lot was practically empty on a Saturday afternoon. Practically empty. This is what happens when you go and you join the Woke Brigade. I don't know who this female CEO is, but when she gets up there and she's talking about, oh, well, it's all positive, and, oh, the reviews are all positive, and everybody's excited. She's lying through her big old giant nose. Absolutely. People are hating oh, wait a minute. Oh, hold on. Maybe the marketing team does love it. Maybe the marketing team thinks it's great. Maybe the people that are in charge of branding or advertising, maybe they like it because they got paid a lot of money to do it. But who they did not ask about it was the customers. They forgot about the people. And I was thinking about this this weekend. When you go to I mean, let's alright. Let's all be honest. The food is good, but it ain't great. Alright? It's good, but it's not great. You could go to Lizard's Thicket, oh, down there in Columbia, and get better country style food than Cracker Barrel. I mean, I I'll be honest with you. I don't know of a whole lot of places around here. Maybe there are a bunch of places around here that you could go get actually better food. People go to Cracker Barrel for the experience of going to Cracker Barrel. They love seeing all the things on the wall. They love to see the things hanging from the ceiling. They love the that homey country feel because it's like you're walking back into an old general store. That gave people something ...

I I don't know. I what is the unofficial motto of, the Charlie James show? It's a great day to ruin a Democrat's day, and we try to do that every single day here on the program because we love liberal tears. But I think that is also one of the things that president Trump strives to do. I wonder what he was thinking about when he, you know, when he had this latest idea. Maybe he woke up, got out of bed this morning and said, Melania, let me tell you what I'm gonna do. I got a brand new plan that's gonna destroy these Democrats. It's gonna make them lose their minds. Let me tell you my plan. We're gonna have a big, beautiful, black wall. The wall's gonna be black. You're gonna love it. It's gonna be president Trump is literally painting the wall black. Secretary, homeland security secretary, Kristi Noem, talked about it at the border. I think she did. If she will, if this thing will load here. Let me see. Maybe it will. Maybe it won't. Come on now. Don't leave me hanging. Oh, doggone it. I don't know what's gonna be. Our computer just froze up there for just a second. Anyway, when she comes on, she comes on, but they're painting the border wall black. Now this isn't for now two reasons for this. Number one, I've seen the wall. I've been to the wall. The wall in those elements, it's rusted. It's a rusted wall. Not all the way through, but it's rusted. But for the second reason is, it's gonna make the border wall unbelievably hot to the touch. Because people, believe it or not, I mean, they they have scaled this wall. Right? They've they've climbed up that bad boy. How do you do that? I don't know, but they have. Let's see. We got Christie at home. Nope. Not just yet. I don't know what's going on with the old computer there, but they're I just think it's genius. I think it's it's it's almost evil genius, but it is genius. Let's see how we can make the wall more uncomfortable to these illegals when they try to scale it. Let's let's paint it in a color that is just going to absorb all of that heat and transfer it into your little fingers when you try to climb up that thing. I think it's brilliant. I don't know about you guys, but I just I just absolutely love it. But it's it is. It's like he wakes up every morning going, how can we make him cry today? How can we make him cry? Oh, there you go. And, of course, we got five seventy seven. When the sooner Trump shut up? Listen. No. Listen. All you people, all of you negative nellies over on the text line, I want you to understand something. You are literally spinning into the wind. You are speaking into a vacuum. So few people believe what you believe. The vast majority of Americans are loving what this president is doing, and he they are loving the timing of all of this. I don't care what the the pundits over there. They're all like, woah. What are we gonna do? We're loving it. It's great. You find me a true actual conservative out there that isn't just as happy as a lark right now with what's going on. And when we sing see things like this, I mean, we're actually more happy. Charlie, the sooner Trump figures out the true nature of Putin and the Russian's military, the better. Oh, o May. I had no idea. I had no idea you were such an expert on the Russian military. Really? Where did you get your training? Where did you oh, CNN? Is that where you got it? Oh, okay. Okay. There you go. Well, anyway, this guy's done more. He's done more for the average American than Charlie, how about being a positive Pollyanna? Hello? Not a Pollyanna. Nobody's a Pollyanna. We're just positive. Pollyanna is a negative, by the way. So, anyway, president Trump is doing great things, and you know it. And if you don't know it, well, you haven't been paying attention. When we get back, we got more good news coming out of Greenville County Council. A, ordinance is dead. We'll tell you about that. Coming up next is the Charlie James Show. News talk ninety eight nine WARD, the voice of The Ca ...
And welcome to the program on your Wednesday afternoon. So glad to have you. And we're just gonna jump in. Oh, by the way, Bill Ryan, the new, I guess, sheriff elect of Spartanburg County, so to speak, will be, on the program with us at 04:06 this afternoon. But right now, we're being joined by attorney general Alan Wilson. Attorney general, welcome to the program. Hope you're doing well. Hey, Charlie. It's great to be on your, show again. Thanks for having me back, sir. I appreciate. First, we're gonna talk to the attorney general, then we're gonna talk to the candidate for governor. Okay? Okay. Sounds good. I can hold on. Let me put that hat on. I got my AG hat on. Look at that. That's perfect. Now you sent out a, a press release the other day. You know, school has just started back all over the Upstate, and you have this, issue, on parental rights guide. Tell us a little bit about that and and what all it entails. Well, Charlie, with kids going back to school, it's important for parents to be reminded of what their rights are as it relates to the care, education, and rearing of their own children. And, a couple of things have happened in the recent weeks that have kinda prompted us to put this out, and I'll get to that momentarily. Okay. But, basically, parents need to be reminded that you have a right to be involved in the, the the raising of your children. This has been upheld by the United States Supreme Court. You have a right and the responsibility to be involved in your child's education. Any teacher, any school that does anything to undermine that is wrong and acting out of concert with the law. In fact, the general assembly even passed a parental involvement in their children's education act, which seeks to encourage the establishment and maintenance of parent friendly school settings. Parents have basic rights. You have the right to teach your child your own belief and value system. You have a right to believe. Any attempts by teachers or school districts to violate those beliefs, like requiring students or, to, you know, use preferred pronouns Right. Or forcing students to affirm pronouns or genders of other kids against the values of that family, that they don't have the right to do that. You have the right to know that your child is safe at school. Obviously, the general assembly passed a law prohibiting boys from going into girls' private spaces and vice versa. The fourth circuit court of appeals just enjoined that law to allow a transgender student into the opposite sex, personal space. You know, there are there are kids across this country who have been sexually assaulted by members of the opposite sex. Right. Your children have a right to be safe in schools, and as a parent, you have a right to know that your child is being protected. And that is why I'm going to the United States Supreme Court on defending South Carolina's law. You have the right to, to, read, or you have the right for your children to only have access to age appropriate materials in their school libraries. And you have the right to know who is teaching your children, the backgrounds of teachers, as well as what they're teaching your children. Recently in Dorchester County, there was a teacher posting Yep. Violent, extremist, gory stuff on social media, and this is an elementary school teacher. That teacher was suspended. But you have the right to know who was handling the most precious thing in your life, and that is your own child. So these are basic fundamental and constitutional rights that parents have in this office and I as the attorney general and as a future governor, we'll talk about that in a minute, will defend us to my dying breath. And and that's it. I mean, when you look at some of this stuff that that teacher down in Georgia, Chester County was, was publishing and putting out on social media, I mean, you have to sit there and go, oh my gosh. How did that person even even get hired to begin with? That is the qu ...
Welcome back to the program. Let's go to the WRD talk line. We'll talk to Gary in Taylors. What's going on, Gary? Hey. How are you, Charlie? Good, buddy. What's up? Good. Well, with with your conversation with lieutenant governor there just a second ago, I wanted to ask a a question. Attorney general. Attorney general. Attorney auto. Yeah. That's right. That's right. Okay. AG. AG. Sorry. Yeah. Tom, AG. And then also Nancy Mace has both said, yes. They will deputize all our local agents, state highway patrol, you know, sheriff's city, game and game wardens and all that kind of stuff to help get rid of a lot of these illegals Yeah. That have records especially. Right. But yet Henry sends 200 national guard troops up to Washington DC and doesn't, you know, really have to even give it a whole lot of thought. And, yeah, he won't do this, which is affecting us directly, not up in Washington DC. He refuses to do that to protect us. How many more tens or hundreds of u of South Carolina city and citizens are gonna get raped, murdered, killed, molested, DUI against us, and and that. But he won't do that. All these people from Florida, from Tennessee, from these states that are enacting some of this stuff are gonna be run into the light here in South Carolina. And yet we're the ones that's gonna pay the price. Yep. You are exactly right. You are exactly right, Gary. And why Henry McMaster is dragging his feet on this, I have no idea, Gary, and I appreciate your call. Georgia has the two eighty seven g agreement with certain law enforcement agencies, and these agreements allow local law enforcement to partner with US ICE and immigration's custom with ICE to enforce immigration laws. Gwynedd County has been involved with the two eighty seven g program for some time. What is going on with Henry McMaster? What is and, again, just like the caller Gary said, he's more than willing to take these people and and send them up to Washington DC to help out with crime there. So what's going on with the dragging of the feet of Henry McMaster? Let me tell you how successful this program has been in the state of Georgia. Are you ready for this? Georgia has had a 367% increase in the arrest of illegal aliens in Georgia. 367% increase. Now not all of that was because of ICE agents. A lot of that came from those local sheriffs, local police officers, local whatever, actually getting getting involved and being deputized by ICE. So, yes, everybody I mean, I haven't talked to well, I've talked to one person who just had a a a a no. It was a good question, and I'll I'll get to that in a second. But everybody that I've talked to has been like, yeah. Let's do it. I think it's a great idea. And the one person that that's got some reservations about it was, yeah. But what happens when, you know, deputizing these people for what happens when or if the Democrats get in power? Are they going to since these people are ICE deputies, are they gonna they gonna give them stand down orders? That I don't know. That I don't know because, remember, a sword always cuts two ways. So the two eighty seven g program is something that a lot of people have been screaming about, and I know that one person that is, for the two eighty seven g program is I don't and I'll be honest with you. We were kinda debating. I was debating with the producer dynamite, JJ, about what we call Bill Ryan now. What what do we call him? Yeah. Well, he's the he's the Republican primary runoff winner for the sheriff's race in Spartanburg. But since there's no Democrat opponent coming up in the general election, I guess we could just call them sheriff elect. I don't know if that would be okay. I know there's a lot of conspiracy theories out there on the text line, but I I just go with, sheriff elect Bill Ryan. Bill Ryan is for it. We're gonna be talking with Bill Ryan coming up at 04:06. He's gonna be in studio with us. We had all of these you know, whenever people talk, they always talk ...

And welcome to the program on this Monday afternoon as we are broadcasting live from the Anderson. I call it the Civic Center, but I think the actual name is the Anderson, Sports And Entertainment Complex. That's we wanna be very precise about that as we were getting ready for representative Sherry Bigg's Salute to Liberty, that is gonna be going on this afternoon. I'll tell you what. I just walked into the main auditorium. We're in the VIP area right now. Just walked over into the main auditorium. It looks fantastic. It really, really does. It looks absolutely amazing. So it's gonna be a great event tonight. And, if you haven't got your your tickets yet, you can always go online. I think you can go to salutetoliberty.org, or you can go over to Eventbrite and, check out those there now. For an event like this, first term congresswoman, you know, expecting maybe four or 500 people, except tonight, they are saying they've already had reservations for over 1,200, and that is, that is gonna be a huge event. Of course, we got, governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders gonna be here later on this afternoon. And, that is, that's a oh, a huge draw. She is what a a a wonderful, wonderful conservative Sarah Huckabee Sanders is. Let's see. Charlie, I just read an interesting article about Laura Loomer and Lindsey Graham. We'll talk about that article coming up because I have seen that all weekend long. But I guess the big news right now is that Volodymyr Zelensky, was at the White House today. And let me tell you something. You wanna talk about a change between what happened today at the White House and what happened a few months ago at the White House. Everything was different. A couple of months ago, Zelensky walked into the White House with an attitude. So once the Zelensky walked into the White House with with a sweatsuit on and and combat boots, he walked in with with just such arrogance and it you know what? It did not play well with Donald Trump. It did not play well with JD Vance. Today, much more subdued, much more relaxed. In fact, they were joking and kidding around there in the White House about Zelensky's suit. I said the one that attacked you last time. I wanna go back and get this this whole comment here. President Zelensky, you look fabulous in that suit. I said the same thing. Yeah. Look. You look good. I said the same thing. Yeah. It was good. I said the one that attacked you last time. See? That was an I remember that. I apologize to you. Look you look wonderful. No. My first question for you, president Zelensky. In the same suit. You see, I changed your eyes. Maybe yours is better. Much more levity, much more lighthearted, much more, shall I say, respectful of the office of the presidency of the United States. So that happened today. Also, there was there there was some talks about, Zelensky, giving up some land. He said there's there's not gonna be any redrawing of maps. Of course, this is all a negotiation. We will see about that. But remember, it was during the, during the Biden administration that everybody said in order for there to be peace in Ukraine, Ukraine was gonna have to give up something. And old Joe Scarborough even reminded us of that over on Morning Joe today. Let's take a listen to what he said there. Here we go. Hold on just a second. Here's old Morning Joe. Oh, I'm turning the wrong knob here. Hold on. I got a 100 knobs here. Here we go. Wait a minute. Doggone it. Here we are. Thanks, sir. Just again, to set expectations, to be realistic. Even during the Biden administration, every Biden official, including the chairman of the joint chief says they're gonna have to give a plan. They're not gonna like giving up land, but they're gonna have to give a plan, number one. Number two, they're not going to become members of NATO. There may have been people writing articles in the Wall Street Journal or elsewhere saying they have to be members of NATO, but you go around to every European leader, th ...
H1 - Thurs Aug 14 2025 - The Charlie James Show And welcome to the program on your Thursday afternoon. Don't forget coming up at 04:00 this afternoon, just a little under an hour from now, we will be having a debate between, the these candidates for Spartanburg County sheriff. You don't wanna miss out on that. It's gonna be, very interesting, debate. Mister Clevenger, mister Ryan, gonna be squaring off here. Before you go to the polls and vote for your Spartanburg County sheriff, this is a very important race, so you don't wanna don't want to, miss out on this opportunity. Also, don't forget, coming up tomorrow, we'll be talking with lieutenant governor Pamela Evatt in the, 04:00 hour about her race for governor of South Carolina. And we got a story coming up also this afternoon in just a few minutes, where a judge has ruled that a transgender student in Berkeley County can use the bathroom according to how they feel that particular day. We'll talk to Sarita Edgerton about the bathroom bill coming up at, 05:06 this afternoon. So busy, busy day going on, but we had a special guest in the Upstate today. Do you know who it was? Anybody know who dropped by over in Anderson? Attorney general Pam Bondi. Yeah. She was, in the Upstate. She dropped by mama pen's restaurant, posted a picture with her and the staff, over on Facebook. She was in the Upstate for a high level law enforcement roundtable in Greenville focused on strengthening partnerships between state and federal agencies, uh-huh, to combat crime. That's according to South Carolina attorney general, Alan Wilson. It was an honor to host attorney general Pam Bondi this morning in Greenville where federal, state, and local law enforcement came together to discuss human trafficking, drug trafficking, illegal immigration, and the alarming rise in acts of antisemitism, said attorney general Alan Wilson. Never has they been a more united front between state and federal partners, and, let's see. Where where is that Federal Logan anyway, Wilson's office said the panel also included US attorney Brian Sterling, principal deputy, deputy administrator of the DEA Robert Murphy, South Carolina sheriffs and police chiefs, FBI, DEA agents, members of the US attorney's office, and federal lawmakers, including congressman Joe Wilson, congressman William Timmons, congresswoman Sherry Biggs, and congressman Russell Fry. So, man, I wish they would have told me that was gonna be dropping by. I would have baked a cake or something. That would have been, awesome. I would really like to meet Pam Bondy. That would be a cool thing. But but we're gonna be talking about law enforcement a lot today, especially with the, debate coming up in, at 04:00. You don't wanna, again, you don't wanna miss out on that because we've got a serious crime problem. We've got fights in Downtown Greenville. I don't know if you guys heard about this, but over in Malden, somebody shot up a neighborhood. 52 rounds were fired. Three homes were hit. We've got again, we got those fights in Downtown Greenville. We got this happening. I mean, it's it's it's like we have this culture of lawlessness going on right now, and we gotta make sure something gets done about it. And one of the things that I really wanna talk to the candidates about because I remember when they were bringing in the Spartanburgers, they were building the new baseball stadium over in Spartanburg, and I was asking people, hey. You know, it's just kind of a fun little segment. Hey. What do you think the, what do you think the name of the new baseball team ought to be? And we had things like the criminals, the murder burgers. I it was just I was like I was shocked that the reputation that Spartanburg has, whether it is warranted or not, they've got that reputation of being crime ridden. So what what is the new sheriff gonna be able to do about that? That's the big question. Because it's going on all over the place, and it just seem and people are get ...

And welcome back to the program. Let's go to the WRID chalk line. We'll talk to Dean in Cashville. How are you doing, Dean? Not bad, Charlie. And I don't know what the message someone's seeing on Facebook was, but the service you're doing for this community is immense. And the reason I mentioned this is the fault you all cut you all are the voice of the Carolinas. And that's that means a lot of people do not realize what's at stake in this sheriff's race. Yeah. Charlie, you if you have not been to Downtown Spartanburg, the Montgomery Building that has been restored, there is the lobby is vintage nineteen twenties. It's gorgeous. They've got another new hotel, and I've not been to Boiling Springs in years. Right. Their target is amazing. So what I'm saying is there's a lot of money coming into Spartanburg, a lot of development. And that when you talk to the sheriff, this is one issue that it's like going to Downtown Spartanburg. That would be a great thing to do. This is why what you're doing is so important and why I wanted I just wanted to thank you for what you do. And the Montgomery Building in Spartanburg is gorgeous. Well, I appreciate it. Thank you very much, Dean. Let's go to David in Greenville and talk to him. David, what's on your mind this afternoon? Well, you're talking, I'm one of those people like you who was glad that, I see the police drive through drive through my neighborhood. Yeah. Well, this morning, I went to parties to have my twice weekly breakfast there. Alright. There is this, no time to make it racial here, but this black woman had a couple of small children with her. Well, the, two police officers come in. Guess what? The smallest child started dealing when he saw police walk up. Oh, no. What? He's screaming and crying and checking. I hate you, police. I hate you. Oh my gosh. And that's that's it. I mean, you people teach their children to be afraid of police officers, and that is completely the wrong thing to do because who are they gonna run to if there's a problem? I appreciate it, David. Thank you. Let's go to Melissa in Malden. Melissa, welcome to you. Hello, Charlie. How are you? I'm doing good. How about yourself? Wait. Melissa from Malden. Yes, ma'am. What's going on? You know what I wanna talk about? So I wanna talk about our senior citizens and Social Security and all of that. I ordered a pizza yesterday, and this poor man came with a walker. I mean, not a walker, a cane, and a pizza in one hand, cane in the other, walking to my front door. He's 80 years old, and he cannot survive of his Social Security check. I I mean, I literally talked to him for, like, ten minutes. Yeah. But my husband's in the same boat. He's 70. He's living off Social Security. And my thing is is, like, all of this money that American taxpayers have sent for the illegals through Social Security Yeah. The during the Biden administration. You are right. When are our so when when are our seniors gonna get a a check? A decent raise. They need it they need to be repaid because this is ridiculous. This poor man is delivering pizzas at 80 years old. Right. Yeah. Just do. A cane. Yeah. I understand. Unacceptable. It is unacceptable. And and then the Biden administration, they literally stole money from taxpayers. I appreciate it, Melissa. Stole and it's not just the illegal aliens. It's the people that are getting Social Security illegally. Those are the only people that the Republicans are looking at kicking off the Social Security roles and the Medicare roles and the Medicaid roles are the people that are gaming the system. They're the ones that are stealing from the American people, but the Democrats, they're like, oh, no. We have to protect those. Alright. I got a nasty. I got a nasty email yesterday. We told you about the story yesterday about, these animal advocates who basically, according to the sheriff's department, stole this little dog named Max. They named it Max. That was I think the dog's r ...
Hour 2 - Segment 1 - Thurs Aug 14 2025 - The Sheriff's Runoff Debate - Rusty Clevenger vs. Bill Rhyne hosted by Charlie James part 1 of 4 - And welcome back, ladies and gentlemen, to your Spartanburg County sheriff's debate. We've got Bill Ron and Rusty Clevenger joining us this afternoon. The candidates have been advised of the rules for the debate, and they have agreed to them. So let's just jump right into it. I've asked, texters to, send us questions as well. But first, we wanna start off with just an introduction. Fellows, give us a little ninety second introduction of yourself. We'll start with you, Bill Ryan. Thanks, Charlie. I appreciate you guys having this today. Yeah. My name's Bill Ryan. I am, 50 years old, born and raised in Spartanburg County. I, graduated from Chapman High School and, joined United States Marine Corps. After I got out of the Marine Corps, I went to work with the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office where I spent a majority of my time working in community policing. I was a resident deputy in the Arcadia Fair Forest area. In February, I transitioned to the South Carolina Highway Patrol working in various roles across the, Upstate Of South Carolina, predominantly in Greenville and Spartanburg until I went over to the ACE team and rode the motorcycle. In 02/2008, I transitioned over into public relations where I remained until I retired in 2022. I retired as lieutenant over the community relations, public relations, public education recruiting, and for you for the entire state of South Carolina. I went to work with American Services as director of training there. I was I was directly responsible for approximately 1,500 officers over seven states. Unfortunately, that company sold out after the death of mister Harrison, and I had the opportunity to return to the highway patrol. I returned to the highway patrol's community outreach coordinator where I remained for the next two and a half years until I resigned on June 2 in order to announce that I was running for sheriff here in Spartanburg County. You know, often ask why I'm running for sheriff, and I tell people I just have such a vested interest. I just had a burden put on my heart to run. You know, I was born and raised in this county. I raised my children in this county. My grandchildren are likely to be raised in this county, and I just have a vested interest in where this county is going and just recognize that the sheriff's office is where quality of life starts for so many people within our county. Alright. Thank you very much. Rusty Clevenger? Good afternoon. Thanks everyone for listening in. I really appreciate you guys, putting this on for us. My name is Rusty Clevenger. I'm 61 years old. I'm almost, end of this month will be forty years as a public servant for Spartanburg County. I began my career in 1985, of course, with the sheriff's office where I was uniform patrol deputy. I stayed there for approximately two and a half years. And after graduating the academy in 1987, I applied for and was given a a chance to start investigations, and that's where I've been ever since. Start off narcotics and vice investigation. I was then promoted to, detective where I stayed for a number of years. The last five of which of the eleven year stamp with the sheriff's office was violent crime and homicide detective. After then in 1997, I was asked to go to the solicitor's office where I stayed as an investigator doing violent crime investigation. In the last sixteen and a half, of my career, as your Spartanburg County coroner doing death investigation and dealing with victim families, and that's what it's all about for me. I've been asked about why I'm running for sheriff, and a lot of it has to do with getting to the bottom, getting to the truth of a matter, and being able to assist victim families in the worst time of need, and also making sure that that crime is solved. Alright. Our first question comes from a, a texter, and it was one ...
Hour 2 - Segment 2 - Thurs Aug 14 2025 - The Sheriff's Runoff Debate - Rusty Clevenger vs. Bill Rhyne hosted by Charlie James part 2 of 4 - And welcome back. News Talk ninety eight nine WRLD joined by Rusty Clevenger and Bill Ryan. Let's start off with the two eighty seven g program. Basically, deputizing, deputies as ICE agents. We'll start with Rusty Clevenger. Do you agree with this program? Would you be supportive of it? I do. There has been some fear, that's been put out with or or by different individuals about the program itself, but I I believe that's largely because of the opposition to it. But I am in agreement with it and would participate in it, deputizing, our deputies to work alongside these ladies and gentlemen. We've got to consider we've got people illegally in our country, that are perpetuating crime, and we need to make sure that if they're here illegally and they're committing crimes against, the people in our county that they need to be removed. First, they need to be punished for committing crime, but they need to leave Spartanburg. They need to leave US and come back. They need to repatriate and come back and do it legally just like everybody else has. So, when I speak about the fear mongering, you know, we're we're talking about agents being or, you know, going into schools and pulling kids out or, you know, wearing masks and stuff like that. That that wouldn't happen, if a deputy was alongside them. I can tell you that they would not be going into schools. They would not be threatening our children, and certainly, wouldn't be wearing masks because we don't have anything to hide. We have nothing to be embarrassed about, and it will be, good information made. You know, we wanna make sure our deputies are following through and making sure that the information we have is true and correct to make sure we affect a good arrest and do what we need to do and and keep the fear down that's being perpetuated out here. Do you agree with that, mister Ryan? Yes, sir. Absolutely. You know, the day that I announced, you had me on the air on the third, and that was one of the first questions you asked me. And I took a stance on that from day one that we would support two eighty seven g. Not only are we gonna support it, we're gonna provide any assets that we need to provide to them to ensure that they can accomplish their task. You know, as mister Clevenger said, this is a this is a rule of law. That's what I think a lot of people don't realize that these are people that have physically broken the law, that have been identified as being true threats to the people of this country, and we as law enforcement officers have a responsibility at the end of the day, number one, to protect the constitution of The United States. But as part of that, we have to protect those people in The United States. So we're gonna provide those assets if they see a need to come here into South Carolina, into Spartanburg County and provide them the assets that they need to be able to, finish up their jobs. You know, one of the problems that people are seeing is just the sensationalization of what is taking place. You've got a lot of, we'll say non conservative media outlets across this nation that are choosing to push an agenda. That's just not true, and there's been several times that I've been contacted asking what I support them going into schools and taking children away from families. I don't know that that's ever, you know, there's so much fake news out there when it comes to things like that. I've never had anybody actually show me any evidence of anything like that, but, certainly, we're not going to do that. We're not gonna take those children away from their, parents in any way, but, absolutely, we have a responsibility constitutional responsibility to stand with the federal government on that. And that leads me to my next question. We'll stay with you, mister Ryan. Yes, sir. Should ICE determine that their presence is ne ...
Hour 2 - Segment 3 - Thurs Aug 14 2025 - The Sheriff's Runoff Debate - Rusty Clevenger vs. Bill Rhyne hosted by Charlie James part 3 of 4 -- I have a really good question from one of our texters over on the common sense retirement planning text line. We're about to elect, the first new sheriff in Spartanburg County in twenty years. We'll throw this one out to to you, Rusty. Do you believe in term limits for sheriff? I sure do. And how long should that be? Well, I particularly have, set a term limit on myself of seven years. It would be the remainder of this term and one more if I'm, elected sheriff. Alright. And you, Bill? Yes. I I do believe in term limits. And mine varies just a little bit. I I do think and you you get into a really gray area when you start talking about term limits because you run yourself and you back yourself into a corner. So let's just hypothetically say if you said it was twelve years. So, they get out and they work really, really hard their first two terms, but what holds them accountable to working hard that last term with they know that they're going to finish? Are they still gonna be doing what you expect them to do? That doesn't change the fact that I believe in term limits because, you know, if you look at a lot of the standards within the military, if you get stuck in the same rank for ten years, you're probably not gonna be in the military too much longer because you're no longer effective at that point in time. You have to surround yourself with people that are gonna want to challenge you, that are gonna want to hold you accountable, that are gonna push you to continue to get better. But, you know, as as mister Clevenger said, you know, I'm 50. The maximum that I would do would I would finish out this three year term. And then if elected again, I would do two more terms for a maximum of eleven years because I would never do more than twelve years at its at its max. Mister Ryan, you brought up a minute ago about mental health. Yes, sir. Are there situations now we know that one of the most dangerous situations that a deputy can be in is when he's called to a domestic violence situation or domestic situation. Are there certain instances where law enforcement deputies should back off and mental health professionals go in and take, I don't wanna say control of the situation, but me be more forward in the situation? That's that's too subjective of a question to be able to actually answer that honestly because if it's a situation that you have to deal with it right right away. So we'll look at what took place at Westgate Mall this past week. Right. That individual obviously was suffering from some type or at least appeared to be suffering from some type of mental illness at that point in time. Obviously, that's not confirmed, but based on what you're seeing from videotape, they were they were I mean, there there was something else going on there other than somebody just being combative and not wanting to do what they said. So, you know, in that situation, they posed an immediate threat. There's not a time limit for mental health to come in. Certainly, if you ran into a situation where there was not an immediate threat that you could bring somebody out in with that expertise if you had those relationships, then that may be something that you would consider. But at the end of the day, it boils down to more of getting your officers the proper training that they need so they can recognize those mental health issues that they're dealing with and providing them with the training that they can actually kinda cross that and bridge that gap between mental health and law enforcement. Because there's no reason to think that a law enforcement officer could not be trained in such a manner that they could have those same techniques and information those mental health specialists, are dealing with to be able to deescalate those situations and help them, bring that situation to a close. Mister Cleverj ...
Hour 2 - Segment 4 - Thurs Aug 14 2025 - The Sheriff's Runoff Debate - Rusty Clevenger vs. Bill Rhyne hosted by Charlie James part 4 of 4 - You know, we just talked about, community policing, the importance of the average citizen in law enforcement. There's a new study that was done by NPR, and I hate to quote them, but NPR said that most people don't report crime because they just don't feel like anything is going to be done about it. Bill Ryan, can you just let the people know that they're very important? Absolutely. This is about taking a proactive choice and making a proactive choice, not just from law enforcement, but also from the people. You know? We need to be a proactive agency. We need to not be a reactive agency. When you become a reactive agency, what is happening is crime's already taken place. That's where I get back to talking about crime prevention. We need to if you are proactive, you begin to reduce crime. You absolutely 100% that has to be the mindset of the people too because they want crime to go down. If they see things, they need to report it. They need to talk to us. Just as Rusty gave an example just a minute ago, it takes just one thing, just the smallest of things, and we say this all the time with, like, hit and runs. We would have, say, a felony DUI with death, and it was a hit and run. How many people saw that crash? I mean, let's let's realistically think about how much traffic is. Now, they could have been in the area they might not have seen it, but in most cases, there's gonna be a lot of traffic around those areas. Some people just choose to not get involved. I don't know if it's because of fear of, repercussions. I I really don't know what it is, but we all have to have a, vested interest in our county. And, you know, this is such a wonderful area to live. You start looking at Spartanburg County. You start looking at Greenville County and the growth rate. Let me tell you something. Greenville and Spartanburg County are what drive the state of South Carolina and will continue to drive the state of South Carolina for years to come. Mister Clevedger, how can we assure people that when they do report a crime, something's gonna be done about it? Intelligence is a an unbelievable important part of law enforcement now. And as Bill stated, you know, we've gotta look at, doing something before crime's actually committed. If we can, you know, work a vandalism that might lead up to a more serious crime burglary, other things. That's definitely worth our time and, you know, to make sure that, the citizens are are taken care of, and it could be as simple as that. And so the most minute thing may just like I was talking about just a moment ago, the most minute thing or the the the littlest of information that's passed on, is extremely important. But I believe your question was, you know, can the citizens rest assured that sheriff's office is gonna be receptive and responsive to those issues? Yes. I've, if I were elected sheriff, yes, I would make sure that was a priority because that's the way I was as a detective. I actually won a crime stoppers award one year while I was a detective, and that is citizens calling in, making sure that, you know, their concerns are heard and understood. And following through with that is what got me that award that year. And simply, I mean, simply put, if you're doing a great job, if you're, you know, a good detective, you're following through with that. And as sheriff, I would evaluate and make sure we have good detectives in that, in that department to make sure and take care of the crimes and hopefully solve them before we have something more serious come up. I wanna thank the folks from Palmetto House Republican Women. We've got Debbie Baker joining us. Debbie, do you have a question for the candidates? And I think this is going to involve some of our students in Spartanburg. Right? Yes. Thank you, Charlie. I am also a sitting board member on Spartanbur ...
Hour 1 You guys like camping? I love camping. I think camping is great. I haven't been camping in a long, long time because my wife believes that camping her idea of camping is staying in a three star hotel where they don't have turndown service. I like to get out in a tent outdoors, you know, cook over an open fire. I enjoy that. Getting out there, just getting back to nature. So just something I mean, food just tastes better. Everything is just really great when you go camping. I love it. I think it's fantastic. I would love to do more camping. I and in fact, I don't know if you guys watched the, the Outdoor Boys. I know it's been he shut down the channel. Not the channel, but he's not doing any more content right now. This guy, Luke Nichols, will go out, and he'll go camping, like, in the the frozen tundra, or he'll go out in the woods or or mountaineering or whatever. And he just basically shows you I don't wanna call it survival skills, but because he always brings really good delicious food. But it's it's a really fascinating thing. The the the all of that had just just millions and millions of viewers, but camping is a lot of fun. But when you camp, you prepare to camp. You get your tent. You make you guide make sure you got your sleeping bag. You got your backpack. You got your little canteen. You got your, your dishes, your your you know, all your kit there for your eating, maybe a little stove. That's a planned event. That's what you do. You plan to go camping. You figure out where you're going camping, then you go do it. They are changing the name of that, not the name of camping. They're keeping that name, but they're changing the image of camping in Greenville. There is now a thing, oh my gosh, called public camping. Now you might wonder what public camping is. What is public camping, Charlie? That's those are the people the public campers are the people that you see, like, on the side of a road in an easement or in an alley. They're homeless. They're changing the name of the homeless to public campers. That sounds a lot more appealing than than homeless population, doesn't it? Oh, we have a big public camping community here in Greenville. It is so wonderful. No. They're homeless. You see, I guess, homeless carries some negative connotation. Public camping. Oh, that sounds that sounds a little more, appetizing. That's a little bit easier, to deal with, right, than than hold on. Well, they're trying to do something about so called public camping. Greenville City Council is currently debating a proposed ordinance that would prohibit camping in public places, a move that has sparked concern among advocates for the homeless. Council member John Dworkin introduced the ordinance. This is from Lauren Miller over there at, WSPA. John Dworkin introduced the ordinance after receiving numerous concerns from constituents about people camping on city streets and plazas. The proposed ordinance, which has not yet had his first reading, would prevent individuals from making beds with sleeping bags or blankets in public areas. He said, I sent an email out to about 3,000 of my constituents. In seventy two hours, I received 300 plus emails plus of which 80% said, yes. We should have a camping ordinance. I'm just thinking this is, are you are you guys thinking this is as funny as I am? They're camping. Is it campers? Alright. The proposed ordinance has drawn mixed reactions from the community. Some business managers like Jonathan Wood of A. Smith Clothiers support the measure, believing it could help create a safer environment for everyone. It seems like a good solution to try to get people in a place where they can be safer, Wood said. However, others, such as Downtown Batman, a local advocate who provides food, water, and clothing to the homeless, argued that the ordinance could do more harm than good. Where are they supposed to go? They have nowhere to go. That's why they're here. Nonprofits like Greenville Tog ...
I don't know. When you when you just think that the Democrats cannot get any more ridiculous, they always say, hold my beer. Let me just show you. Just let me show you just how crazy we can be. Of course, this is coming from MSNBC. What are their contributors over there? Listen to what this guy said. Listen. He's not worried about crime in DC. Now he's a reporter. He probably makes pretty good money. Read a couple books. He's an author, contributor over there at MSNBC. He probably lives in a very nice neighborhood, but he doesn't care about the other people in Washington, DC. He's got something else on his mind. Let's take a listen. I think it's really important to be clear about what is going on here, and a relatively small crime problem is being used for specific authoritarian purposes that A relatively small crime problem. Oh, okay. We know and understand. So let's be clear about DC does have a really one really big crime problem, which was the January sixth insurrection Oh. Incited by the current president of United States. Okay. And his first act in coming back was pardoning all the people who tried to overturn constitutional republic order in Washington, DC. When I go to DC, I'm not afraid of losing my wallet so much as I'm afraid of losing my vote. I'm not afraid of losing my wallet so much as I'm afraid that my children's freedom to breathe will be stolen in a world where climate change policy is nonexistent. I'm afraid that the future of middle class people will be stolen by the very things you were talking about, cutting, the safety net, cutting Medicaid, cutting rural hospitals. Right. Right. So so there is like, and So this guy guy is not see, he's not there, and he's not worried about the people that live in DC. He only visits. When I go to Washington DC, so you don't have to live there. So you don't exactly know what's going on. I I love what they said over at at MSNBC. Well, no. It was actually on, Morning Joe. No. It was MSNBC. Chris Matthews said that Donald Trump has gotten the Democrats to defend the indefensible. Let's take a listen to Chris Matthews and and Mika Brzezinski over there at MSNBC. Here we oh, this is on Morning Joe. Yeah. Let's take a listen. And the murder rate, you can't keep saying violent crime is down, but the murder rate's up. To the average person, the murder reps about life and death. You don't brag about a rising murder rate. And the Democrats are I agree with you, Mica. They're falling into the trap of defending what's indefensible. It's a trap. Yes. It's a trap. I mean, if, it's not a winner politically, to say, oh, you're wrong. Look at the data. Because, you know, if one violent crime happens in a in a very heavily populated part of the city, people hear about it, and it's visceral. They don't want it. And they want to they'll gravitate to the person who appears to be doing something about it. And the appears to be doing something about it. Well, it appears that president Trump, after federalizing the police in Washington, DC, it appears that several 100 criminals are off the streets in just a matter of what? Twenty four hours? Little over that? That's what it appears like. It appears like the police in Washington DC are finally brave enough to actually do the job of policing because now they've got the authority of the federal government behind them. Good. I saw this one woman trying to interfere with police, arresting a guy, and, well, things did not go well for her. Saw another video where they're rolling up into these neighborhoods, and these and these people are, like, shocked shocked to see the police there. I can't believe it. The police are rolling up in in our area. I will guarantee you they hadn't been there for a long time. So, so but, no, I'm more worried about I'm more worried about climate change. I'm more worried about climate change. Here is, MSNBC's Anthony Cawley. Listen to what he said. And I live in Washington. This is personal for me. Many p ...
And welcome back to the program. Let's go to the WRID talk line. We'll talk to Tonda in Spartanburg. Tonda, welcome. Hi. It's Charlie. Yes, ma'am. I did just have one thing to talk about. But since you've been talking, I have three things to talk about now. Alright. What you got? Okay. The EBT cards. Yeah. Years ago I mean, I just turned 60. And years ago when I was, like, 20, I worked at a large grocery store. And when they would come by with their EBT card, it wasn't just junk food, but they would buy, like, five, ten steaks that that cost way more than I could ever afford. Yeah. And I'm thinking, you know, why why is this, you know, even Permitted. Yeah. Permitted. Yeah. I know. I know how I trust me. I know. I've seen grocery cards full when I'm sitting there counting out change. Mhmm. It's not right. The same way. It's not right. It isn't. So The older people like me and my husband, we live on, limited income. Yeah. And then I tried one time to get food stamps, and I was only gonna be able to get $5. And I was like, well, I was like, $5. I was like, no. That's not even worth that. That would get you a pound of steak. I know. Right? Right? You're right. What else is on your mind, Tonda? Okay. The Greenville parking. Yeah. Okay. Spartanburg, they have pretty good parking, but I guess they'll they'll do what Greenville's doing. Sure. But, this baseball field, that they've created, you know, not everybody likes baseball, but they didn't even take any survey of, you know, what the citizens wanted. And they got rid of Spring Fling. They, they got rid of another, that thing that they had down in town that I can't remember it. Festival? And I might have Once county council, city council get something in their minds, it's hard. It's hard to get them to change their minds. It really is. That's that's why they spring these things on you at the last minute. Yeah. That's what they did. And, you know, right before spring fling, they said that's canceled because, you know, the ball field well, I don't like to go to the ball field. You know? Yeah. That's not and plus, I have a neighbor that said he went and things were ex really expensive, you know, to get anything to eat. So, even if I wanna go to the ball field, I wouldn't because, like I said, we're on a limited income. We can't do that kind of stuff. But we always like to go to Spring Fling and whatever else was downtown. Yeah. Well, now they don't have anything downtown. Tonda, running tight on time. Do you have another another comment? Yes. Lindsey Graham. Yes. He's gotta go. I'm sorry. I've lived here my whole life I know. You know, since, I was 30, I think. And, I I know. I feel the same way. Lot of people do. I appreciate it, Tonda. I wanna go to Christina, and talk to her. Christina, how are you? I'm okay. Alright. What's up? I have a question. Okay. Monday morning, Tara had on her show and she, verifies to the nth degree before she had stuff on. She had an audio and for all I know, I mean, it was actually for real people who have TVs that might have been audio and video. But she had an audio of an upper, level Metropolitan Police officer in DC describing in detail the prescribed manner of how the powers that be in the blue controlled cities, how they changed and and who knows? Are they still how they have been changing all of the reporting so that it does not go into the FBI crime statistics. Yeah. So my question Yeah. Is why has no one else on W 0 R D and and Mike Gallagher on Salem? How come this is such a a a significant thing? Why has no one else talked about that? I don't know where you've been, Christina, because that's pretty much all we've been talking about, how they're changing. We even played that clip, from from not not only the the metro police, but also the, the, police union leader, talking about how they've they've jerryed the books. Well, and they they say they'll be at a crime scene, and they were attempting to do their job. And here ...

I'm a rent me a castle in Scotland. I just heard that story about the, King Charles dog treats, that are made in Balmoral. Very nice. And it's so they're talking about renting a castle in Scotland. I found one. This is from Arbroath, Scotland. You can rent this for $1,080 a night. Might be worth it. It sleeps 16, by the way. So there you go. Might do that. Well, here in South Carolina, our governor, Henry McMaster, has decided to go along with RFK Junior and president Trump and actually introduce new restrictions on SNAP benefits. Yeah. And I think this is a good idea. I really do. Governor McMaster announced today that South Carolina will soon impose new restrictions on how low income residents can use their supplemental nutrition assistant program benefits. Now here, what is the keyword that we're looking at there in the snap nutritional. Nutritional. Now, folks, I love my butter fingers. I love my Reese's peanut butter cups, but I know that they are not nutrition. They are just there is nothing nutritious about it. No doctors ever said, you know, Charlie, I think you you need to eat more Butterfingers. I'd you need two you need two more full sugar Pepsis and, and and more Butterfingers, and that'll get you that'll get you right as rain. It's not nutrition. It is a treat. It's a luxury. In a post on eggs, McMaster said he plans to issue the executive order directing the Department of Social Services to impose common sense limits on snap purchases. He said America is getting healthy, and South Carolina will do her part. In the next few days, I will issue an executive order directing the Department of Social Services to place common sense limits on purchases using SNAP benefits formerly known as food stamps. Now right now, about 580,000 South Carolinians get, SNAP benefits according to the Department of Agriculture. The executive order comes several months after a bill aiming to limit SNAP purchases. Here we go. Gotta go right back to the state legislature on this one and go, hey, guys. You're the problem. You're literally the problem here in South Carolina. These Republicans in Columbia, there was a bill aimed at limiting SNAP purchases, and that failed to advance in the South Carolina house. Of course, because the South Carolina house is where common sense goes to die. The legislation titled the South Carolina SNAP Nutrition Integrity Act would have barred recipients from purchasing things like candy and soft drinks. The bill defined candy and goes on to define we all know what candy is. We don't have to be told. Whilst that effort stalled in the legislature this is from watch Fox fifty seven. While that effort stalled in the legislature, McMaster's executive action may implement similar restrictions through administrative channels. So I think it's a good idea, but not but you would think because that's all we hear, and people are people are screaming about this. Oh, he's limited our benefit. There's one guy. Let me find it see if I can find this quote here. I thought it was, pretty interesting. Yeah. One guy, this guy named Tim, he was out grocery shopping with his son. He was interviewed. He said, they're trying to dictate what you do with your benefits. When you tell people what they can and can't get, it takes away your freedom. Mister Wise, you've got the freedom to get off SNAP benefits altogether, if that's what you want. Is that your idea of freedom? Being able to go buy Twizzlers and and and and Skittles? Something that's actually gonna contribute to things like, I don't know, type two diabetes, poor health, cardiovascular disease, all of this stuff. Wood free well, there you go. Public health consultant doctor Bamby Gaddis highlighted additional components of the proposed changes, including the expanded work requirements. There are expanded work requirements that are potentially going to go into effect, which may be disconcerting disconcerting and problematic for some people, especially people who a ...
And welcome back to the program. Let's go to the WRD talk line. We will talk to Cassandra in Greenville. Always a pleasure to talk to her. Cassandra, how are you? Hi. Hi, Charlie. I'm doing well. Thank you. Thank you. I'm you know, I talking about the the SNAP program and so on. I I just and a couple things. Number one, of course, you want to take care of people who can't take care of themselves. However, I don't believe that should be government's place. That was always family and church and charities, legitimate charities. Right. And I do think it should stay that way. However, what really got me is this this February, I was I was, purchasing candy for, Valentine's Day. I'm looking. And here, it's like the Lindt and the Godiva and all these expensive chocolates that I wasn't I'm like, I can't afford. They were there with the SNAP program. Yeah. And I looked and I thought, are you kidding me? This is on SNAP? I thought it was supposed to help people nutritionally, but, you know, expensive candies. It was crazy. It really is. I mean, the candy does not there is no nutritional value in candy, and I don't care how it's marketed. It's just not there. No. No. And and and it it was yeah. A little more I think I might have mentioned before, I'm sure I did. When I first gave birth, I had a a young girl. She had just turned 14, and, she was my roommate. And 16 of her family members and friends were in the room all fighting over getting the baby. Right. And I you know, I'm saying to her, oh, how wonderful that they all care about your baby. Because I for some reason, she kept telling me she wasn't allowed to marry the father. I didn't quite understand, but, you know and then she said, no. They they don't care about the baby. They just want the money. And I said to her, no. No. No. You don't understand. You don't get money for having babies. You babies cost money. And now my husband's working two jobs. Right. And, and then she listed all the stuff they got Yeah. For having the baby. And I thought, oh my word. Why are they doing such a thing when she would have married the man? She would have married the father. Yeah. But, no, she wasn't allowed to. It was crazy, Charlie. I know. So, anyway, I'm I'm happy. If if South Carolina does the right thing, that would be wonderful. That would be great. I appreciate it, Cassandra. Yep. Children are, in some cases, just a commodity. Just another way to get more money from the the American taxpayer. Doesn't care how the child is raised. Doesn't matter what goes on with the kid, how they come out. Just give me that money now. Well, Comer, James, James Comer is man, I tell you what. He is he's doing some. Congressman Comer has labeled former president Bill Clinton as a prime suspect in his Jeffrey Epstein investigation and put forth a farfetched theory, this is according to Daily Mail, a farfetched theory that he could be punished with jail time if he skips the meeting. House oversight committee James Comer fanned the flames at his ongoing probe into, Jeffrey Epstein doing an interview on Newsmax, Monday night. Everyone in America wants to know what went on on Epstein's Island, and we've all heard reports that Bill was a frequent visitor there. So he's a prime suspect to be be deposed by the house oversight committee. Clinton has denied visiting Epstein's Island, also known as Little Saint James Island. I didn't know it, but I'd I've actually cruised by that. I didn't know that. Trump has claimed that the former dinner Democratic president made many trips to the island in The Caribbean. Earlier this month, Comer issued a subpoena to both Bill and Hillary Clinton to compel them to testify before the panel on matters related to Epstein. Hillary Clinton is being asked to sit for a deposition on October 9, and the committee wants to depose Bill Clinton on October 14. And we've got others as well. So here was, Comer over on Newsmax. Our Kentucky congressman chairman of the House Oversi ...
I'd you need two you need two more full sugar Pepsis and, and and more Butterfingers, and that'll get you that'll get you rider's ring. Boss, that effort stalled in the legislature. This is from watch Fox fifty seven. There are expanded work requirements that are potentially going to go into effect, which may be disconcerting disconcerting and problematic for some people, especially people who ar ...
I pledge allegiance to the flag of The United States Of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Oh, beautiful for spacious skies for amber waves of rain for purple mountain majesty America is back. Absolutely. America's back. We gotta get it back even more. I mean, we'd all know that I mean, just hundreds of arrests have already been made in Washington DC now that president Trump has federalized, the, the, police department there, the law enforcement in DC, and they are now they seem to be a little more brave. They seem to they seem to be a little more brave about what they're doing. We'll talk about that coming up in just a second. So we just got off the phone, with Brian Frank. Brian Frank was the guy that held the signs up at the Lindsey Graham event at the Beacon Theatre, and a lot of people lost their minds over this. You know, it was like a a retire Lindsey and dump Lindsey and things like that. Joining us right now is Jason Shamus, the mayor of Campobello. Let me see if I can get him on the phone here. Jason, welcome, sir. How are you? Hey, Charlie. How are you? I'm doing fantastic. Now you were at the Beacon Restaurant, and you're telling me that Brian Frank's story just doesn't quite jive? No. I'm at well, I'd like Lindsey and I. I went there to to meet some other folks over there to to be at Lindsey Graham, event. Yeah. But like Lindsey or Dot, I mean, you really shouldn't be doing those kinds of things. So I was standing there, and you could see them behind the glass. Brian and Evan Molch talking and and collaborating, and he would go outside and put signs up. The police would take him back in. I mean and they were harassing folks as they were coming out. I mean, there's really no room for politics like that. You know, we always talk about, you know, we want a bigger voter turnout and those things. You saw that in the sheriff's race. Yeah. 11% of the people showed up. So do you think those kinds of actions are going to boost voter turnout? Absolutely not. Because most people don't wanna deal with that kind of rhetoric. You know? And I like Lindsay or not, at the end of the day, Trump has endorsed him. Trump doesn't endorse him for just no reason. Obviously, there there's a a really good reason why Trump wants it there. It's because he can get the Trump agenda American First done. That's why he wants them. So why would we put a freshman back in congress that is it's gonna have to learn all this from the get go. I I understand that, you know, I I'm not saying I agree with everything that Lindsey does. I know there's a lot of people that don't agree with Lindsey. But but why would you take one of the most prolific, presidents in US history and put a freshman in there when president Trump is saying, I want Lindsey? Well, I say I well, I in in my opinion, since you brought it up, I think Donald Trump just needs Lindsey Graham to pass all of his nominees. Yes. Right? I mean, I I don't disagree with that. But would you want a freshman in that spot? Well, I'll be honest with you, mister mayor. I would want somebody in that spot that wasn't gonna stab me on the back on NBC every chance he gets. I I don't I don't disagree with that. I don't disagree with that. However and then again, I I don't I'm not saying I support Lindsay with everything he does. But specifically talking to the Beacon and what happened at the Beacon, these people that are holding up signs and doing those kinds of things, you know, they're they're saying I'm Christian Christian values. Now if you're looking at that, does that say I'm for Christian values? Does that say that I'm a Christian and I'm walking like Jesus? Well, I mean, but why so let's go to that. Was there anything there that was, I don't know, obscene? Is was there anything there that wasn't I don't know. You you tell me you were there. I just don't I mean, if I just don't understand why you would d ...
Lots of folks on the phone. Let's go to Todd and Anderson. How are you doing, Todd? I'm doing good, sir. Yes, sir. What's on your mind? So the question is is has anybody asked Donald Trump why he supports Lindsey Graham? I don't think anybody has. No. Yeah. I mean, we all we all remember what Donald Trump said about, you know, Lindsey Graham at, in Pickens that he helps with the Democrats, and I don't know how you help with the Democrats if you're a solid conservative. Exactly. And then the the mayor from wherever was talking about how we don't want a new guy in there. Trump is the new guy in there. Exactly. We don't want a him. We don't want a freshman president. Right? Right. Yeah. Exactly. But how do we invoke change if we don't get new people in? Man, we just we gotta some of us have gotta start putting our name in, and then we gotta start showing up at the polls and supporting these people. That's a big thing. Showing up and and getting out there and voting. I appreciate it. Todd, let's go to Mike in Greenville. Mike, what's on your mind? Yes, Charlie. I just wanted to comment on the mayor of Capobello and his statements. I would not know him from Wild Rice if he walked in front of me. Okay. But I will say this, that I'm gonna give this credit to Tara Servation. Alright. The only reason that Trump supports Lindsey Graham is Lindsey Graham is head of the budget committee in the senate. Yeah. He has to have him to get that passed. He also has to have his votes to get his people nominated and through the process. Yeah. Lindsey Graham I am I am loosely related to Lindsey Graham by marriage, and he is a terrible human being. As far as signs, listen. I would put a 12 year old in that senate because just like my 12 year old, all I wanna hear out of his mouth is yes, sir. That's all you need to say. Yes, mister president. That's it. I said that. All you need to hear out of him. Exactly. We have to have fighters. We don't need beta males in the senate or anywhere in our government. So the mayor of Campobello, I get his point. I understand. But it sounds like to me he's an establishment guy. He's status quo, and we need fighters. We need men that'll stand up and women that'll stand up, and that's what we want. I live in Lindsey Graham's district. I I know him well. Yeah. He is a snake in the grass. He goes whichever way the wind blows and who's got the wallet out. And that's how it is. A lot of people do it. I appreciate it, Mike. Now let's talk to the speaker of the house of the sovereign state of Jamestown, JR. How you doing, JR? Oh, it's another JR. It's not that JR. I got two JRs. JR, welcome. You're out there in Possum Kingdom. What's going on, man? Hey. Yeah. This is JR. I was gonna I was gonna holler at you. Oh, Lindsey. Here, every every time he comes up for reelection, he always does the same thing. He wants to say that no one else needs to go in there because they wouldn't know how to get things done. Right. And he proves time and time again that he don't know how to get things done or better yet, he does. Like, here a while back when he pushed that abortion bill and ruined us in the midterms Yeah. Lindsay. Yeah. He knows what he's doing, and he knew it wasn't gonna fly, but he just had to mark that box on his full check list. You're exactly right, JR. And let's not forget that. Lindsey Graham was the one that came out and said, no. No. Abortion needs to be a federal issue. Wait a minute. What was the president saying? What was Trump saying? It needs to be a state's issue, not a federal issue. Lindsey Graham was like, let's let's do this as a because he knew that had the potential of hurting Trump. Lindsey Graham also said that no better person has God ever created than Joe Biden. And if you've got a problem with Joe Biden, you need to do some self reflection. But I think the most interesting thing that Lindsey Graham has ever said was this. It wasn't peaceful. I was there. If it had been up to me, ...
And welcome to the program on your Thursday. I'm sorry. It's Wednesday. Oh my gosh. That makes things awful. No. It's Wednesday afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. Don't forget, coming up tomorrow, we got the big debate at four between four and five with, Bill Ryan and Rusty Clevenger. They are running for the sheriff's position in Spartanburg County. Now if you have any questions, I got a list of questions I'm gonna be asking tomorrow. But if you've got any questions, don't text them to me because that's gonna get lost. I don't know how many texts I get in an afternoon. Some days, it's upwards to 500. But if you've got any questions, the best thing to do is email me charlie@989word.com. That's charlie@989word.com, and we'll, we'll take some of your questions there, And we'll point that out to the, to the candidate as well. So big debate coming up tomorrow. This is an important race because crime across the country is rampant. Now it is getting a little bit better since Donald Trump came into office, and it's getting even better in Washington DC. They are shocked. In Washington DC, I I saw a video, just a few minutes ago where police officers rolled into this neighborhood, and they were shocked to see police officers in this neighborhood. I said, you you gotta be kidding. They're they're they're coming up. They're they're rolling up right on in here. They they can't believe they're seeing police officers there. And not only that, what we are seeing as well is now the police in Washington DC. You know what? They're not afraid anymore. Saw another video. This woman tried to prevent police officers from arresting a guy. Well, she got shown what's what. These police aren't playing around anymore because now they've got the backing of the feds. It's kinda like that little dog that that is and he starts barking and growling when he knows his owner is right behind him, got his back. That's what's going on right now in DC. That's what's going on. So here's the thing. It has been amazing to watch what this president has been able to do over the past, what, seven months almost seven months now. Look at what he's he has forced the Democrats to support. Look at what he forced them forced them to support. Criminal illegal aliens. They own that now. Sorry. You guys support them fully. Support murderers. Support rapists. Support the guy, that, the the the the shot the UnitedHealthcare CEO in the back. They supported the kid who stabbed another kid at at attract me. They support the what was that? The the Maryland dad who come to find out was a horrible spousal abuser. They've they they're now supporting supporting insider trading with Nancy Pelosi, and they're supporting gerrymandering in blue states. They're actually coming out and admitting it. Pritzker even said, well, we just we just gerrymandered here because of, you know, politics. This guy has been able to force them to admit exactly who they are. Now this is the Baltimore, the mayor of Baltimore. His name is Brandon Scott. Brandon Scott, ball crime in Baltimore is horrible. He was on with Jake Tapper over at CNN, and Jake Tapper reads a comment from a resident of Baltimore. Let's take a listen to this. The report says, quote, a 77 year old woman from Curtis Bay who asked to remain anonymous due to threats she's received from drug dealers on her block compared the morning drug traffic to a fast food drive through. When a real estate agent assessed her property about a month and a half ago, she said the agent told her, I can't sell this house with that, referring to the 10 or 12 people involved in the drug market loitering across the street. I'm gonna get hurt one day. I know I am, she said. What do you say to those residents of Baltimore, who may think that citing falling crime statistics glosses over some of the the harsher day to day realities, and and needs that they have, to their lives in Baltimore, need for things to change even further in terms of just regular dru ...
Alright. I wanna read you a story. This comes from 05/13/2024. It's from the Center for Immigration Studies. Again, this is 05/13/2024. Foreign born population grew by 5,100,000 in the last two years. Largest two year increase ever recorded. The foreign born immigration population hit new records as of March 2024 of fifty one point six million and 15.6%, 15.6% of the total US population. Okay? Now that was from May 2024. They did that study, compiled it, got it all together. Foreign born population grew by 5,100,000, basically, under Joe Biden. Well, here we are in 2025, little over a year later, and quite the opposite has happened. Overall foreign born population is down 2,200,000 from January to July. 2,200,000. That's a trend I can get behind. I wanna talk to Brian from Gaffney. Brian, you were at the event with Lindsey Graham? Yes, sir, Charlie. I went there, last week. I promised I'd take my wife out to eat for lunch Yeah. About a week ago. And this is before I I I knew I was to be off work. This is before I knew Lindsey Graham would be there. Right. And once I found out Lindsey Graham would be there, I decided that's where we're going. Oh, wait a minute. Hold on. This are you the Brian? Yes, sir. I am. You are the Brian. So can I say your name? Yeah. Brian Franks. Brian Franks. There you go. Alright. There you go. You were the guy that had the signs. Right? Yes, sir. I made them at home. So why why did you so tell us the whole story. What was all that about? Well, I made them, not to go in there into his rally with those signs. I made them, and I put them all over my car, taped them to outside of my window, all four windows, the back and the front. And I wanted to park by the road so other people can see. Right. But I wasn't wearing anything inappropriate or anything anti Graham when I went in there. And when I got to the door, Lindsey Graham's people would not let me in. They would not. They said it was a pry private, gathering. You're not you can't you're not welcome. I said, what do you mean? This is public. I heard it on the radio. It's public. And I found out the reason why is I am one of the admins on the dump Lindsey Graham 2026 Facebook page. Were you were you wearing the dump Lindsey hat when you walked in? No. I was wearing my Disney hat, actually. Okay. And I got I got the Dump Lindsey hat from a friend of mine once I got there. So did you who who was the well, I don't wanna know the name, but there was a guy there that got his picture taken. He had that cap on backwards, and on the back of it, it said That was me. That was you? Okay. Okay. Alright. So you did get in? Yes. I I I didn't get in the part where he was speaking. Okay. I tried to get in there before Lindsay even showed up, and his people recognized me because I run the Facebook, dump Lindsey Graham 2026 page. Me and a few other guys started it in 02/2007, and I kept not having to change the year over the last several years. Yeah. We wanna dump them. So you got you got you did not get a welcomed response from Lindsey Graham's people? I did not. I did give one of my signs to a fellow I met in the area I was in eating at the Beacon, and he got behind Lindsay with the cameras behind, that were pointing at him. And then I I went to my car, and I grabbed two more signs that I got behind Lindsay at the cameras. And I was told by the officer to please leave this area. Ah, I guess because you were behind them in security issues and all of that according to them. I was behind I was behind the window. Yeah. So the window was right behind Lindsey Graham, and I wanted the cameras to see because I knew the news was there. Yeah. So, what is the response been from what because we know that, you know, some folks over there, Nate Loype, has spoken out against your your actions. Several other people have. How do you feel? Was this just a freedom of speech issue? It is. And, Lindsey Graham, we've been wanting to get rid of him, and I know I know ...
