Coach Pat Baldwin, In this episode, you'll hear from Coach Pat Baldwin. Coach Pat is currently an Assistant Coach for Coach Patrick Ewing at Georgetown University. I had the pleasure of working with Coach Pat for three seasons at Loyola University Chicago. And, if you know Pat - then you know he loves his family, the game of basketball and rolling up his sleeves and going to WORK! Earlier in this conversation you are going to learn where Pat developed this amazing work ethic. Quite simply, Pat learned this from watching his father, growing up in Leavenworth, Kansas. Coach Baldwin is a 1994 graduate of Northwestern and was one of the top players in school history. Pat ranks 1st in school history in steals, 2nd assists and 20th in points. And, Coach Baldwin was a three-year team captain for Coach Bill Foster. After playing professionally overseas, Coach Baldwin started his coaching career at Lincoln University in Missouri with Coach Bill Pope. Coach Pat would then have stops at Wisconsin-Green Bay for Coach Tod Kowalczyk, Loyola Chicago for Coach Jim Whitesell, and Missouri State for Coach Paul Lusk. Coach Pat would then return to his alma mater to assist Coach Chris Collins. And, in year four with the Wildcats, he helped Coach Collins lead the program to their 1st NCAA Appearance. Coach Pat then would spend the next five years as the Head Coach of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Patrick and his wife, Shawn, have four children: Patrick Jr., Tatum, Brooke and Claire. And, Patrick Jr. was recently selected as the 28th Pick in the NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors. As you soon will hear, Coach Baldwin loves to coach. And, his "it is not four years, it is forty years” philosophy will instantly hold your attention. However, there are so many wonderful moments of reflection and vulnerability that makes you want to root for Coach Baldwin and the Georgetown Hoyas this season. Finally, the advice that Coach Baldwin offers in regards to parenting and his relationship with his son is simply tremendous. Pick Dundee aka (@TheColbyD) & NC Nick (@NC_Nick) note all the big names in college basketball that are returning perhaps due to the new NIL rules. Should the Gonzaga Bulldogs be the team to beat in 2022 now that Drew Timme and company are coming back? Did Gonzaga win the college basketball offseason more than any other team? Did Armando Bacot and Caleb Love's return to Chapel Hill mean the North Carolina Tar Heels are primed for another deep NCAA Tournament run? Does Sean Miller and Xavier become instant Big East contenders? Should we be on the lookout for Nijel Pack and the Miami Hurricanes this year? Will Tyger Campbell make the UCLA Bruins the team to beat in the Pac 12 this year? Is Steve Lavin instantly building San Diego into a winner in the WCC? How will the Duke Blue Devils look with the best freshman class in America coming in? Did the Arkansas Razorbacks and Butler Bulldogs win the transfer portal? Could Patrick Ewing and the Georgetown Hoyas be due for a nice rebound season? Are Mike Woodson and the Indiana Hoosiers the team to beat in the Big Ten this season or could Illinois or Michigan have something to say about that? Will the San Diego State Aztecs and San Francisco Dons be teams to watch out for this upcoming season? We talk it all and more on this NIL edition of The College Basketball Experience. Meet Shaka Smart, Head Men's Basketball Coach at Marquette University. Atlantic Physical Therapy presents the 81st Episode of the Hondo Handy's Podcast. The podcast shares the journey of Coach Smart, as he enters his first year at Marquette. He spent his previous six seasons coaching the Texas Longhorns. In his first season at Texas, the Longhorns won 20 games and received an at-large-bid to the NCAA Tournament. He finished with five winning seasons, of 19 wins or more. He also won the N.I.T. VCU hired Smart to be the head coach in the spring of 2009. In his first season, he led the Rams to a 27–10 season and a CBI Championship. Despite not securing the automatic bid, VCU earned an at-large bid to the Southwest region of the 2011 NCAA Tournament. The Rams were one of the last four teams invited, and were placed in the First Four against USC for a spot in the main 64-team tournament bracket. VCU defeated USC and then upset the 6th-seeded Georgetown Hoyas and 3rd-seeded Purdue Boilermakers to advance to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history. VCU won 72–71 against Florida State University in overtime to earn the school's first spot in the Elite Eight and subsequently upset the top-seeded University of Kansas 71–61 for its first Final Four appearance. The Rams lost to Butler 70-62 in the semifinal game. Shaka has held several assistant coaching positions including University of Akron for three years, Clemson for two, and Florida for one. At Clemson he was an Assistant to my high school teammate Oliver Purnell. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
