Nelwyn navigates us through her family history covering both comedy and tragedy. She describes how she met her husband and what took through living in many places including Jacksonville, Florida and on the island of Oahu in Hawaii where my siblings and I all got Chicken Pox and stayed with them for two weeks. She goes into great detail not only about her parents Otha and Beulah Wright Oldbury but also all of James Barney Wright and Epsie Burr Williamson Wright's eleven children. Nelwyn even shares some touching moments about her mom's generosity of taking in strangers and the love she has for her four children and husband Jerry. She concludes with comforting words to her loved ones she'll one day leave behind and her testimony of her beliefs in the after life and beyond. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jason-scarabin/message

Jump back into the magical world of Willow with Andrew and Presley as we quest to find if this is a good show or not and if it should've been pulled from Disney+All Our Links: https://linktr.ee/seasononepodSeason Spoiler Synopsis: Willow was a direct sequel series to the 1988 film of the same name. The show stars Willow (Warwick Davis), a Nelwyn sorcerer who was also the original protagonist of the film and who is recruited by a group of misfit heroes who are trying to rescue the son of Willow's former compatriot and current queen of Air Asleen. The team comprises Kit Tanthalos (Ruby Cruz), the sister of Airk (Dempsey Bryk), who is kidnapped in the pilot, Jade (Erin Kellyman), a knight in training and romantic interest of Kit, Prince Graydon (Tony Revolori), who is the arranged husband for Kit to marry, Boorman (Amar Chadha-Patel) a ruffian with a mysterious and tumultuous past, and Elora Dana (Ellie Bamber) the baby recused by Willow in the original film, who had been hidden as a cook in the castle away from even knowing her own identity until Willow recognizes her on their first meeting. As the gang adventures out to the Immemorial city, which is the prison of Airk and the home of the Crone, the main antagonist who is attempting to resurrect the Wyrm to bring chaos back to the world. The gang begins their journey home as we end of a cliffhanger of Graydon seeing a vision of Elora taking over the world.
In 1988, as the Star Wars fields lay fallow, George Lucas gave us a fantasy epic he assured us he'd been dreaming up for years: Willow. This tale of magic and mystery spun the story of a humble hobb—er, Nelwyn—and his incredible journey to deliver a thing to a place in the manner of J.R.R. Tolkien. Needless to say, Willow didn't amount to the next Star Wars, and after a few video game adaptations, the book on Willow seemed forever closed... until very recently! With the recent Disney+ series freshly behind us, there's never been a better time to look at the legacy (if any) Willow left behind. So join Bob Mackey, Jeremy Parish, and Chris Baker (of Willow Talk) as they dress in their finest Renaissance Faire gear to discuss this blast from Lucas' past that's gotten a new lease on life.

Today's film is “Willow” released in 1988. Starring Val Kilmer and is directed by Ron Howard.- I love the first half of this movie- It is more comedy and getting to know the characters. It's part hangout movie and part ragtag bunch against the all-powerful- And Val Kilmer is the classic good-looking, very alpha, and funny hero- I kinda wished we got to stay in the village of Nelwyn. But it is a movie in the 80s, so you got to get into the action

Disclaimer! My mic switched from the headset to the computer mic so I sound like I'm talking on a tin can telephone. Sorry! You can still enjoy The journey of a sheltered Nelwyn who happens upon a Daikini baby and must take her to safety with the help of a young Val Kilmer..... meow! Magic! Romance! Trolls that turn into phallic moat monsters! This movie has it all!
Oh boy, this is a longer one than I wanted to be, but I hope you're ready for the Willow episode of the podcast! Is the Ron Howard directed, George Lucas dreamed of, and Warwick Davis starring film still hold the nostalgic factor that I've held for so long? Come and take a trip to the land of Nelwyn, Daikini and BumbleButt as I look at this 1988 Fantasy classic.
This movie proves the ole adage "its not the size of the Nelwyn that matters, its how the Nelwyn uses it." Willow, like the hobbits from Lord of the Rings, is like the Spanish Inquisition - no one expects him... or treats him as a threat until its too late. Using that, along side crazy Madmartigan and his red-headed sweatie, Queen Bavmorda's daughter, Sorsha - the good guys end up saving the day. But this is a Lucasfilm movie, so expect pandering to children... forced comedy duos... silliness to break up anything scary and the such. Join Lee and Joe as they discuss their Daikini lifestyle and if the film still holds up.
This week on The Tape Store Podcast, Toby and Brooke, along with guest host Jeff, discuss 1988's fantasy epic Willow in part one of a two-part podcast series. We talk about the years-long process to make George Lucas's Willow story a reality and delve into the first half of the film. Topics include Jean Marsh's commanding presence as evil Queen Bavmorda, the unlikely Nelwyn hero Willow (Warwick Davis) and his sweet wife Kaiya, Val Kilmer as the hilarious but brave knight Madmartigan, the "NOT A WOMAN!" scene (If you know, you know), and more.

If you think you've got the world and characters of Willow all figured out - it's time to forget all you know, or think you know.Lethal fishboys, deathbears, sorceress love triangles, and shocking backstories abound as we dig into the film's deleted scenes, the extra context of the novelization, and the universe-expanding sourcebook. We also look to Moebius' concept art for Willow, props and production notes revealing what might have been, the animated series that never happened, and the television show that Lucas himself teased. Willow is a film that builds a big world out of small perspectives - working magic that larger fantasy epics struggle to, even with modern effects. The further down the Nelwyn mine we go, the richer and more exciting the movie becomes. Hear us dramatically recreate tale of how Sorsha chose the sword over sorcery, and indulge in awesome character expansion for unsung heroes like Vohnkar and even get some charisma stats on Lug. Star Warwick Davis was only eighteen when he was cast as the lead in the Ron Howard directed, George Lucas produced fantasy epic Willow. He gamely and charismatically carries the film, often stealing the heroic spotlight from his more classically handsome costar, Hollywood It boy Val Kilmer. Davis also met the woman who would become his wife on the set of Willow -- she was an extra in the Nelwyn community scenes at the beginning of the film. Initially a modest hit, the film went on to gain a cult following and springboard Davis into a varied and successful career. Dan and Vicky enter the world of Willow for the first time and give their thoughts on it's effectiveness as a fantasy adventure film for kids with a dark undercurrent. They also recap some of their recently seen including the horror films Veronica, Burnt Offerings, Unsane and Giallo, and the TV offerings Instinct on CBS and Zen Diaries of Gary Shandling on HBO. We also hear about the Hot Date our hosts had on Broadway seeing the Glenda Jackson/Laurie Metcalf starring Three Tall Woman, Dan's new off-Broadway play The Enclave and, most exciting of all, the creation of Hot Date's new website, hotdatepod.com, where you can enjoy and stay current with all things Hot Date! Get swept up in the journey of Hot Date 68: Willow! Make sure to give us a star rating and leave some feedback.
