The siblings are back from winter break and ready to discuss Willow episode 4, “The Whispers of Nockmaar.” Things get spooky as Willow and his crew attempt an exorcism and drama unfolds in Queen Bavmorda's castle. This episode gives a lot of backstory on the Crone and Bavmorda's villain journey which will most certainly be useful in the journey going forward. We also catch a glimpse of the Immemorial City. Things that enchanted us this week include “The Invitation,” “His Dark Materials” on HBO and an anime show of some kind ...

“This is just like a dark Look Who's Talking” The panel of peril are comin' for ya like Elora as we travel to a magical land to chat about 1988's Willow. We then try to improve upon the villain's diabolical plan for the honour of choosing next week's film and hosting the pod. Willow was George Lucas's major foray into the world of fantasy as he produced and has a story credit on Ron Howard's film. A visual epic with an intimate story, Willow tells the tale of the child Elora who is prophesied to be the one who will ‘undo' evil sorceress Bavmorda. Needless to say, old Bav isn't too keen on that idea and will stop at nothing to get her hands on the bairn. Watch the trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KhFp9fqrHc ********PLOT SPOILER ALERT******** Bavmorda (Jean Marsh) has long ruled the land with an iron fist but becomes increasingly concerned about a prophecy that says a child will be her undoing. Ordering every pregnant woman be imprisoned, so it comes to pass that Elora is found sailing down a river by Willow (Warwick Davis) who undertakes an epic journey to protect the child and defeat the evil Queen. Val Kilmer's Madmartigan and Joanne Whalley's Sorsha will aid in him in his quest. What did the heck panel think of this week's movie? How in all that is holy can they improve upon the villain's masterplan? And which evil schemer will be christened this week's most diabolical? In another of our "Watch to Watch Now" segments, we take a look at how Willow (the 1988 film from Lucas and director Ron Howard) connects to Star Wars, and why it's important now. Here's the gist of Willow, from Wookieepedia: A young farmer named Willow Ufgood is drawn away from his sheltered home to save Elora Danan (a baby girl with a destiny) from the evil sorceress Queen Bavmorda who would see her destroyed. Willow is aided by the disillusioned master swordsman Madmartigan, who has turned to a life of roguery after the fall of his kingdom to the evil queen, and the sorceress Fin Raziel, who has been turned into a muskrat by Bavmorda. They are initially thwarted, but later joined by the queen's daughter Sorsha. Noticed that that came from Wookieepedia - the Star Wars wiki? That's not an accident. As it turns out, there are many connections between Star Wars and Willow, but perhaps none as important as the connections made between the two by Clone Wars creator and Mandalorian executive producer Dave Filoni. On today's show, we'll talk about the movie, you'll hear from Filoni himself about that connection, and we'll also explore a news item defining exactly why it's relevant to be talking about Willow now. The story involves Willow Ufgood (Warwick Davis), a farmer who dreams of becoming a sorcerer's apprentice among the Nerwyns, which are a race of little people. One day, he encounters a baby who has washed onto the riverbank near his farm. The baby, who we come to learn is named Elora Danan, is a Daikini, a race much larger than the Nerwyns, but Willow's brethren don't think it's a good idea to keep her. The evil-witch Queen Bavmorda (Jean Marsh) has minions, including her warrior-princess daughter Sorsha (Joanne Whalley) and vicious skull-faced warrior General Kael (Pat Roach), actively searching for this baby smuggled out from under her nose because she may be the prophecy foretold to end her reign, a child with a special mark upon its arm. Willow accepts the mission to return the baby back to the first Daikini he meets, with a few other Nerwyns in tow. Along the way, they encounter and recruit that first Daikini, Madmartigan (Val Kilmer), a skilled but down-on-his-luck mercenary, who agrees to take the baby for release from capture. THe Daikinis are in the midst of a war with the legions on Bavmorda's side, putting Elora's fate in jeopardy should they fall short. However, Willow gets another directive from a fairy to find the good witch on a remote island. With Madmartigan and a couple of Brownies, who are from a human-like race even smaller than the Nerwyns, only nine inches in height, Willow seeks to find a way to protect the baby. Ron Howard directs this story by producer George Lucas.

Bavmorda, known as the Demon Queen of Andowyne, was a powerful sorceress in her early life and grew up to take over the land of Tir Asleen, Nockmaar, and Galadoorn. It was only the prophecy of the child named Elora Danan, an enchantress named Fin Raziel, and a would-be magician named Willow Ufgood that was able to end her tyrannical rule.

Mikey hosts Jordan, Stevie, and Josh in spoiling and reviewing 1988's fantasy "classic" from George Lucas and Ron Howard: Willow! The evil queen Bavmorda (Jean Marsh) wields black magic to conquer the land and enslave its people. She fears the birth of a child with a peculiar birthmark because prophecies foretell that the child will bring about her downfall. Bavmorda imprisons all the expecting mothers and the child of the prophecy is born. Before Bavmorda has a chance to kill the baby girl (Kate Greenfield and Ruth Greenfield), the midwife escapes with her. She sends the blessed baby downstream on a raft. The child washes up near a village inhabited by a race of dwarf-like people called Nelwyns. Willow Ufgood (Warwick Davis), the farmer and amateur magician who finds the baby, is chosen by the town council to return the child to the world of the "large people," or Daikini. Against their better judgment, Willow and his friend Meegosh (David Steinberg) entrust the baby to the first Daikini they meet, a renegade warrior named Madmartigan (Val Kilmer). If it's not, then it violated the Non-Aggression Principle and Property Rights - the core tenants of Libertarian Theory - and hence - human freedom. We use movies as a starting point for people who may not be familiar with this way of thinking. Discussion of the plot and decisions that characters make in relation to morality and violations of the non-aggression principle are our bread and butter. We also will highlight and discuss any themes or lessons from Austrian Economics that we can glean from the film. The point is to show what anarchy actually is with instances that are presented in film. We publish new episodes on Sunday just in time for your Monday commute; and occasionally will do specials surrounding holidays or events (elections/olympics). ABOUT Actual Anarchy, an anarchy unlike what the average idiot thinks it would be. Anarchy means no rulers, not no rules. The non-aggression principle and a respect of property rights are what makes it go. We host a podcast where we take pop culture movies and showcase moments or scenes or themes throughout that are literally actual examples of anarchy. Any place, around the world, there are always examples of Actual Anarchy all about you. Sometimes you just have to sit back and take a look. It’s easy once they’ve been pointed out a few times. Actual Anarchy is real world examples of anarchy in action. Movies, Shows, Books, News, etc… we host all sorts of content on the site from a bevy of writers enthusiastic for one goal: human freedom Read Rothbard – Become an Actual Anarchist PRESENTED BY Read Rothbard is comprised of a small group of voluntaryists who are fans of Murray N. Rothbard. We curate content at www.ActualAnarchy.com and on the www.ReadRothbard.com site including books, lectures, articles, speeches, and we make a weekly podcast based on his free-market approach to economics. It’s the battle of the chosen one and the woman who wants to destroy the chosen one (but, you know, a different chosen one), as Bavmorda from the film “Willow” faces off against Korra from “The Legend of Korra.” Plus: science versus romance, a recurrence of sentient tomes, misappropriating famous quotations, Sailor Moon, X-Men, Captain Planet, and regular bunnies, not demon bunnies for once.
