The return of Oz forces the Scoobies to evaluate their feelings, as Willow must choose between Tara and Oz, Riley must choose between Buffy and the Initiative, and Buffy must decide whether or not to tell Riley about Angel. Join Sarah, Tabby, Leah, and guest host, David, as they discuss themes of bigotry, prejudice, and the show's sticky use of metaphor when portraying marginalized people groups.

If you miss the bad old days of painful listener submission episodes, you're in luck because we watched an absolutely terrible movie that sort of has a werewolf in it for a minute or 2 but is mostly about honky tonk and the most somber line-dancing you've ever seen. We subjected ourselves to another Howling entry, this time THE HOWLING: NEW MOON RISING (1995), in which the director/lead actor of the last 2 tries desperately to connect the entire series into a cohesive timeline. Did he succeed? Perhaps, but at what cost? Our sanity hangs by a thread on this week's show! If you like the show, be sure to Rate, Review & Subscribe! This episode is the epilogue to our first New Moon Rising story. We wrap up much of the loose ends, but some questions still remain. We will return to this chronicle in the future to explore more of our anarch gang. However, as of this recording, there is no clear timeline for a recording schedule. Once life returns to a “normal tempo,” we will start a new chapter of the chronicle.

This week we depart from our normal review to bring you an episode of New Moon Rising. In this episode, the anarch gang faces a violent confrontation with the mysterious hunters they’ve been looking for. Faced with the brutality of the situation, there aren’t many options for the kindred. Next week, we return with our review of Vampire: the Masquerade 5th Edition: Fall of London.
In this episode, our gang proceeds forward, seeking a conclusion to their conflict with a shadowy stranger. They take their chances and visit a local nightclub for a nip, but walk into a situation they hadn’t expected. We are rapidly approaching the conclusion of this story. We have about one or two episodes left before the conclusion. We’d love to hear some of your advice for our future episodes. Let us know your ideas in the comments below.
Welcome to another episode of New Moon Rising. In this episode the anarchs try to recover from their confrontation on the beach with a shadowy, unknown figure who seemed intent on harming Felix. They take some time to attempt to regroup and formulate a plan of attack moving forward. Thank you all for sticking with us during this period of crisis and uncertainty. We hope all of you are safe and with people you love.
Welcome back to New Moon Rising! We’re just a TINY bit late posting this, but here it is. In this episode, our intrepid anarch gang try to recuperate the losses from previous nights. They wander into a strange nightclub and reveal they aren’t alone. Tempers flair and beasts reveal themselves. Felix shows his true depravity. Finally, the shadows coalesce to collect a debt.Click here to buy one of our last few T-shirts and be entered to win a free copy of Chicago by Night! Oz gets angry about lesbians. Buffy accused Riley of being a bigot. Riley quits the Initiative because he finally starts to see they aren't good guys. He definitely should have figured that out sooner. Support the show (https://shop.spreadshirt.com/JandLWatches/)

Hey everyone! I come to you from our holiday break to bring you another episode of New Moon Rising! We will be back with our regular Dark Ages reviews (and maybe some special guests) on January 10th, 2020. In the meantime, we hope you like our Teach Me How episodes. Anyways, this is New Moon Rising - an actual-play podcast! In this episode, our intrepid anarchs await backup as they prepare for impending violence. The Nosferatu make themselves useful by giving some secrets - and keeping some others - from the gang. This session turns out to be a cold slap in the face for someone in the coterie. Where will the story go next?
Welcome to Episode 8 of New Moon Rising. In this episode, we return to Phyl, Audrey, Elliot and Felix as they dig deeper into the mysteries of Gary and the Anarchs. As day turns to night once again, the gang finds out there's been another attack on an allied anarch coterie. The hunt for information leads them to a mysterious Nosferatu who calls himself, "Picker." He claims to have all the right info to give… for a price. From an odd Elysium to a suburban safehouse, the night grows cold for the dead of Chicago.
Part two of Jamie’s session takes him from the quiet conflict of the Camarilla Elysium to the darkness of Edgewater Hospital. Jamie contemplates his future with the Anarchs as he moves forward in search of an elusive doctor named Rustin. How will his actions impact his coterie, and what secrets will divide them?
in this episode of New Moon Rising, we are finally introduced to Venture Anarch, Jamie. This young Ventrue faces a unique struggle existing around Chicago. This evening, Jamie finds a strange guest waiting for him when he rises for the evening and an invitation he has no choice but to accept. How will clan and tradition impact the Anarchs of Chicago, and how deep do personal loyalties run?
In this episode, we are introduced to Felix, a refugee from the Sabbat, and I member of the Broken Chains gang.
We had regular guests Joe Kincher & Jacob Balcom and their wives Jolie and Alicia join us for dinner and screening of Howling: New Moon Rising (a.k.a. Howling 7), a film by writer-producer-director-star Clive Turner. After we finished the film, we tried to make sense of it. It takes place in Pioneertown, CA, and takes place in Pappy + Harriet's western saloon. There's footage from other Howling films, and two guys working for the church to stop the lyncathropic curse...we think. This was a mess.
In this episode, our Anarchs go back to the club to recuperate after their conversation with the local Ministry doesn’t go how everyone wants it. The coterie regroups, gets a new vehicle, and heads back to Club Synn the Next evening to do more investigating and hopefully talk to Mama Polari as well.
In this episode, we wrap up our first game session with a trip to church… in the form of The Ministry of the New Moon. In the last decade there has been a bit of a schism in the clan many refer to as the “Setites.” A faction of Followers broke away from their parent clan and petitioned for membership in the Camarilla. After apparently being rejected, the so-called “Ministry of the New Moon” have now made their home in the Anarch Movement. They believe that Set exists within themselves and is not an actual “god,” but a state of being. They claim to work towards bringing spiritual liberation to all descendants of Caine. This group of religious Setites are small but growing Anarch faction - Some consider them a modern rebranding of corruption for the 21st century. Any lost Cainite is welcome to come and take sermon with the Ministry. Our gang of anarchs seek information and rumor has it, the Ministry know the details.
New Moon Rising is an Anarch game that takes place in the Chicagoland area around Gary, the Chicago suburbs, and Madison, Wisconsin. This game takes place in ‘current’ day Chicago, as in, 2019.Welcome to episode 2 on our V20 actual play, New Moon rising. In this episode, our Anarch coterie step into Camarilla territory to feed. They find themselves at a punk rock club on Chicago’s North Side, but something else seems to be amiss in the city.Going forward, New Moon Rising episodes will be released every other Thursday on the VTM25 feed! Thank you for your patience while we work out our release schedule!
This week we’re back with Lauren Zielinski, a certified nurse-midwife and founder of New Moon Rising. New Moon Rising works in cities across the US to hold free, day-long workshops that foster discussion about reproductive health, political advocacy, natural medicine options, and community connections. We felt really strongly that we needed to start opening the discussion around female sexual health and empowerment, and Lauren was so generous to share her wealth of knowledge. In this episode we talk about… -The difference between a midwife / doula / doctor; - The difference in care you receive between these options; - The importance of advocating for yourself at your annual checkup and how to approach the situation to get important questions answered; - Things that are natural for women // things to avoid in our routines We are beyond excited about this episode! Superstar Kenn Edwards returns, as Conversations with Dead People transitions into what it was always meant to be...Conversations about Jonathan Levinson! Oz gets back from Tibet with new mastery of his werewolf powers. We watch New Moon RIsing with special guest Maia Kobabe. Tough questions from this episode: How long was Oz gone? • 30 days? • 3 months? • Or is time is different on the hell mouth Bonus question: how many lipsticks does Tara wear in this episode?

It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's a werewolf! Oz is back and ready to shake things up. Season 4 episode 19 is the episode for lovers, past and present. Love triangles, being basic, and reused plot points abound. Thanks for listening!
Episode 4.19 - New Moon Rising by Tyler Blach and Lotus NW
Chelsea and Bob discuss a momentous episode that features some stellar performances and still is a weak link in the season 4 chain despite all that goodness.
Nudes! | roughnightpodcast@gmail.com Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish. Poke a few holes into each potato using a toothpick. Bake potatoes in the preheated oven until fully cooked, about 1 hour. Cool for about 15 minutes. Place the bacon in a large skillet and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned, about 10 minutes. Drain the bacon slices on paper towels and crumble. Cut a thin slice from one side of each potato; carefully scoop out the flesh and transfer to a bowl. Discard skins. Mix 3/4 cup Cheddar cheese, sour cream, milk, butter, chives, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder with potatoes. Spread potato mixture into the prepared casserole dish; top with 3/4 cup Cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon. Bake in the preheated oven until just bubbling, 10 to 15 minutes. Cool for at least 5 minutes before serving.
We chat Oz’s return and Faith’s rehabilitation this week. Oz finds things are not just the way he left them and we get treated to the best depiction of a love triangle maybe ever. On Angel, everyone is shocked, shocked to find out Angel is trying to help Faith, while Wesley makes his allegiances clear and Buffy and Angel have their most honest conversation (ok, fight) ever.
Oz brings his little self back to Sunnydale and stirs up all sorts of drama, while Xander is busy telling all the business that isn't his. Also, find out how to win a ReVisiting Sunnydale mug!

It's a New Moon Rising
Shit gets real when Oz comes back into town and he finds out there's another person warming the seat that used to be his at Willow's Heart Station. Buckle up, kids, it's going to be a bumpy ride!
David and Michaela are so excited to see Oz again that they can almost forgive Adam's nonsense in this episode! As usual there's a healthy balance of fashion talk and actually discussing what goes on in the episode. We get to keep learning that turtlenecks will never die (nor will chokers) and this show seems determined to continue dressing all of its female characters in the brightest (and often pinkest) clothes it can. This week we're chatting about methods for controlling werewolf episodes, the adorable frustration that is Tara's love, and the (brief) return of Oz in episodes 419, 'New Moon Rising' For more hot chicks with[out] superpowers check out: Emily has been reading 'Trainwreck' by Sady Doyle, all about why we love to hate women in the media. Hannah has been making a lot of bread lately with the help of 'The Bread Bible' by Rose Levy Beranbaum and her amazing author style Haley has been reading 'The Immortalist' by Chloe Benjamin and recommends it if you're in the mood for some solid fantasy.
My Boyfriend's back! And I'm gonna have to dump him . . . because I like the lady cave now. Also, Faith is back, and she goes on a journey that ends with her in jail.Sorry for the short post, y'all. We're just done with these episodes. We liked them, but it's been a month getting this ep on the air.
OZ!!!! is back!!! and beth's audio quality is questionable! just like life, this episode of buffyspeak is full of ups and downs.
We talk a lot of Packers at the opening of this episode because let's be real, anything is better than an episode that has a plotline that is literally "Sex House." Anyway, there's probably not enough alcohol in the world for me to watch "Where the Wild Things Are" again; "New Moon Rising" on the other hand was pretty decent. Join us for booze and chatting Buffy.
This week on Hellmouthy:The very funny Peter Johansen (Twitter: @peterojohansen) joins Ryan and Kelly to talk Buffy the Vampire Slayer episodes WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE and NEW MOON RISING! They tackle the tough stuff: sexual shame, sharing tough secrets with friends, and pink turtlenecks! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
In "New Moon Rising", as the gang gathers to discuss the growing number of demons in The Initiative's cells, an old friend returns - Oz. He's traveled the world and come home during a full moon to show Willow his newfound control over the wolf. As Buffy takes Riley's demon-prejudice personally, Willow is caught in-between her last love and her new one. Kristen and Mike compare Oz's transformation to Willow's, and discuss why this episode was so crucial at this point in the series. In "The Yoko Factor", Adam enlists Spike to help him separate Buffy from her greatest strength - her friends. But with the chip in his head, Spike can't simply kill them - he'll have to manipulate them into splitting up. Spike preys upon their conflicts and insecurities - the gang's acceptance of Tara and Willow's relationship, Giles' unemployment and age, Xander's aimlessness, and Riley's reaction to Angel. Kristen and Mike develop ways to improve the character of Adam, and dissect Riley's extreme jealousy. PLUS! We answer Erika's question: Would you want to see a sequel, reboot or remake of Buffy or Angel?
Moon's in the title, must be werewolf time in Sunnydale again! Obviously, with Oz back in town, stirring up feelings for Willow, we talk A LOT about that (like, a lot) and how it relates to her relationship with Tara and the rest of the Scoobies. However, we do dedicate a little time to being happy about Riley finally picking a (the right) side, lamenting Adam's lameness and arguing about the Initiative!
Episode Seven! This film is NOT good.
What's at stake? Basil and Reuben discuss New Moon Rising, kittens vs puppies, costuming choices, people's love of driving across town just to say one thing, Buffy's complete confusion at the idea of LGBT people, and how Adam ran the internet in his cave.Definitely Doomed Ep. 75 Less Confusing Waffles

The Art of Slaying - A Buffy The Vampire Slayer Retrospective
Still better than the other New Moon and it ain't even close. J. and Brian put on the shades for New Moon Rising
It's episode 24, and Big Damn Heroes is getting mmm-mmm-good. Buffy has an historic, if slightly dumb episode. While over on Angel a character completes her arc, the show comes into its own, a future major player makes an appearance in a rather disjointed episode, and the season endgame starts to boil beneath the surface. Oh, and Buffy has an ongoing season plot. We think. It's hard to tell. Join Hannah and Will as they cover Buffy's "New Moon Rising," and Angel's "Sanctuary," "War Zone," and "Blind Date." Dutch Angels!
