How do you balance making money with doing the things that make the money? This is the big question we are exploring in this episode. Nicole Wipp is a successful estate planning attorney who spends her time between Michigan and Hawaii. She is also a business coach with an entrepreneurial spirit. Nicole is here to share how she and her team created a foolproof process for submitting a successful nursing home Medicaid application. This product is specifically for elder law attorneys or estate planning attorneys that want to incorporate elder law services. Nicole recognized the need for this product because the application process is fraught with fear for attorneys because there’s potential for doing something wrong and causing irreparable harm to the client. This is not Nicole's first rodeo when it comes to launching a product. She has learned that the more competent you are, the more you typically struggle with execution to launch the product because you're second-guessing yourself. The only thing stopping you is you because you think you need to know more or do more. Stop second-guessing yourself and get out of your way. Start small and build from there. What You Will Learn in this Episode How to productize your knowledge Why process is such an integral part of success How to build your marketing message from conversations with your ideal customer avatar How to move from an idea to execution of the idea How to create accountability through establishing processes We are teaching every single Wednesday in our private Legal Marketing FLOW Facebook group. In fact, when I was in my first year of high school, I literally had to get in fistfights to protect myself from bullies in my school. You think about girls doing that kind of thing, but it's a real thing. I used to get in literal fistfights because I had to. I didn't have a choice; either I got beat or I engaged. For me, that was something that made me stronger. They can be a very big source of despair. I don't recommend letting that be the place that makes you stronger. In business, I will tell you that in my niche, I definitely have other competitors that would much prefer me to be down in business. One of the things that I've done to avoid that; I just don't pay attention to my competition. So many people in business will say, pay attention to what your competition is doing. I actually find that for multiple reasons, that is not good business advice. I don't pay attention to my competition, I don't pay attention to what they're doing, to what they're saying and I just run my business in a way that works for myself and my team. By doing that we've actually done very well. We've been extremely successful and then I don't worry about those things.

She owns the Family and Aging Law Center in Michigan, focusing on elder law and asset protection. She’s the host of the Smart Planning 101 podcast, the founder of Wipp Enterprises, focusing on business and personal development and does corporate consulting on the side! In this episode, Nicole will share with us about the importance of preparing for the future, either for care for your ailing parents, or care for you children, should you be found with a disability or should they have a disability, like autism. Nicole shares in depth about her illness, early in 2015, where she ended up in the hospital with a rare lung disease. It required her to be hospitalized for 30 days, receive over 50 medications, 4 surgeries, and her husband, 4 year old, and multiple businesses were left to make it on their own while she figured out exactly what was going on. Luckily her business was set up in such a way that it was able to function and go on without her for a full 90 days while she was in recovery. Lawpreneur Radio - A New Practice Built A New Way with Entrepreneurial Attorney Miranda McCroskey
Nicole Wipp is an estate planning and elder law attorney based in Southeast Michigan, with a successful law practice that was built mostly on utilizing strategic marketing principles, instead of referrals. She is also the creator and host of the Smart Planning 101 podcast, a place for legal, financial and healthcare advice.
NICOLE WIPP, ESTATE PLANNING IS AN ACT OF LOVE PART 2 Hi everyone, I am so grateful that you're here and listening to the information Nicole is going to share about estate planning, elder law and share some great reasons that may help you decide if you would like to have a will. Today our podcast is the second part of estate planning. I would like to thank Nicole for all her time and for sharing her knowledge. You can find her at http://www.smartplanning101.com/ or http://miestatelawyer.com/ Nicole is an attorney in the state of Michigan and is also licensed in Hawaii. She is here today not as an attorney, but to give general advice on this topic. She suggests you seek an attorney for specific information to your situation. Her law practice is called, The Family and Aging Law Center. They help families manage crisis and prepare for a crisis. “Estate planning is an act of love, When you fail to plan, it causes a burden.” Nicole Wipp We start off the second half of the interview talking about how you can make decisions and what you need to do to make them legal when leaving money to children or grandchildren. Nicole recommends that children do not have control of money until they are 25. "There are ways of lovingly incentivizing your children to be responsible." The ways Nicole shares to teach your children are not to punish them, but if you just give them money they become spoiled. You don't want them to go without anything, but you don't want to give them too much responsibility either. If you are 18 or older, we all need to have powers of attorney. I was on the hot seat, but I had ended up in the hospital with serious heart problems and did not have anything written down. Nicole shares some tips to help you get your will done. If there is conflict, in making decisions, she has a few ideas to help you get through it and leave with a will. Elder Law Planning for your parent's old age is very important. We have a lot more older people in our countries than ever. It is causing a burden on the Canadian and American countries. How are we going to ensure that our parents are getting the care they need? How do you afford it? That type of care is not necessarily paid for by the government. The cost of care, where Nicole lives, is about $8,500.00 a month. That is a lot of money, and not everyone is aware that it is that high. If you have aging parents, you should know about this. If you have had a near-death experience, you may wonder how this relates to you. For myself, I had a realization that every day is precious, as I know that it could be my last. It is really important to me to plan ahead now. I want to make sure if I leave this planet before my family; they are all taken care of. This gives me peace of mind and happiness. Another way I see it, is that if I live to be very old and need to be in a home; I want to be prepared to have it taken care of so I am not putting a burden on my family. I would love to hear your thoughts on this, and how you feel about it. Please leave a comment below or email me at gina@synergymindsetcoaching.com/gina Contact Information http://miestatelawyer.com/ http://www.smartplanning101.com twitter @nicolewipp --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/lvmountaintops/message
Hi everyone, I am so grateful that you're here and excited to bring our guest, appearing as an expert in estate planning. She will not be giving legal advice, and you should consult a lawyer in your area for specific advice. She will share a lot of information I hope you will find helpful today. Today our podcast shares some advice that I am really passionate about. Could you imagine if your life was to end today......... Are you prepared? I put off these decisions and was suddenly faced with the fact I had not planned, and It was really scary. If you do not plan legally, your children could end up living a very different life than you may want This interview will help you take control and plan for your loved ones and your own piece of mind. Nicole is an attorney in the state of Michigan and is also licensed in Hawaii. She is here today not as an attorney, but to give general advice on this topic. She suggests you seek an attorney for specific information to your situation. Her law practice is called, The Family and Aging Law Center. They help families manage crisis and prepare for a crisis. "Estate planning is an act of love, When you fail to plan, it causes a burden." Nicole Wipp Nicole was a litigator for many years. She practiced mostly in family law, really it is divorce law. She had a very busy practice, but it just was not satisfying for her. She did help people and felt like she was helping people, but it was not satisfying to her. It would stress her out and she became a mother. She had a son, and her husband wanted her to be more involved and work fewer hours. At first estate planning seemed like it would be very boring, fill in the blank kind of lawyering. She could not have imagined that as she was not that kind of person. Once she understood how it could really help people, and added in the component of elder law, she became a really passionate advocate of it. It was not a natural fit or something she considered doing during law school. Finding Your Passion Nicole did not have a near-death experience, but it almost felt like it was. She was at a crisis point in her life when she made the decision to walk away from her old life and started this as a new life. It is really amazing, what opens up to you when you make the choice to dedicate your self to following what is in your heart. Nicole was a successful attorney before, but she is expediently more successful today, now that she is doing what she is passionate about. Her business has grown in leaps and bounds in the last two years and she can say it is because she has pursued her passion, she has the energy for it and it is in her heart to do it. It took an act of courage and faith to say she was going to walk away, but sometimes that is what needs to happen. Why Should You Plan Ahead Life is uncertain. Nicole shared my story, about how I neglected to plan for my children and ended up in the hospital. I had posted on facebook that I needed help quick, and estate planning is not quick. Nicole has clients in their 70 s and 80 s that have put off planning because they are in so much denial. None of us are exempted from dying, and there is no planning day as there is a tax day. It is not pleasant to think about and easy to put off. After Nicole responded to my post, and I realized how much I had failed to plan, and that there was not much I could do from the hospital, I wrote my wishes down on a piece of paper. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/lvmountaintops/message

I get quizzed by Bert Martinez … can I handle the pressure ;)? The tables are turned – I get interviewed by popular blog and radio show host Bert Martinez of Money for Lunch. Bert asks me some great questions (and I hope gets some great answers!). Bert asks me what the difference is between elder law and estate planning He asks me about the value of a will We discuss the “right age” to start talking about these things He asks me why planning for long term care is important We discuss the cost of long term care and the repercussions of failing to plan for it (I think he was surprised) Bert realizes his own estate plan is completely out-of-date! Bert is about to release his new book, Created to Succeed. Check it out!
In this episode, host Bert Martinez from Money for Lunch podcast (and soon to be published author of the book "Created to Succeed") interviews Nicole Wipp. In this interview, he asks Nicole several great questions, like - what is the difference between estate planning and elder law? At what age should people be thinking about this? How can people protect their assets? Why should we (or our parents) be planning for long term care - what are the financial effects? Nicole and Bert also discuss the problem with avoiding thinking about these things (things we don't like to think about) - the lack of planning and what it can do for our loved ones. Finally, Bert realizes that it is time for him to update his own plan!
