Everybody talks about loyalty—to friends, to family, to culture—but what happens when that same loyalty pulls you away from God? In this episode, C.L. breaks down how loyalty can turn from love to destruction, why being “ride or die” for the wrong things can wreck your walk, and how to spot when your loyalty is killing your spirit instead of feeding your faith.Matthew 22:37–391 Corinthians 15:33Galatians 1:10Ephesians 5:11Mark 8:35–38Lamentations 3:22,23Don't forget to subscribe to the YouTube channel! http://youtube.com/@thenonmicrowavedtruthTikTok @CLWhitesideInstagram @ChampionLife23
Christmas isn't just a heartwarming tradition—it's history. But is it really for you? Many wonder if God's love extends to people who feel unworthy, overlooked, or weighed down by the past. As you explore the very first page of the New Testament in this message, you'll discover that Jesus came from a long line of nobodies and notorious sinners—proof that Christmas is for the broken, the struggling, and the searching. This season, embrace the hope that Jesus was born for you.
This episode finishes Mark 3 by taking a look at Jesus' disciples—a group most of us wouldn't have chosen. They weren't straight A students and didn't have the kind of careers we might find to be resume worthy. They certainly had their black marks. We also talk about family expectations and church hurt. What if Christmas isn't just about what we've made it—but about something deeper, more human, and more hopeful? In this sneak peek at the upcoming sermon series "God's Kind of Christmas," Pastor Mike and Amber explore the tension between cultural expectations and the surprising heart of the original Christmas story. They speak candidly about the honest questions many people have—especially those who wonder if any of this could actually be true. It's a conversation that calls for belief, not just in a holiday but in a God who stepped into history for people like us.Learn more about this month's $375,000 Challenge Grant at https://bit.ly/48k2PEm.
We love to say God is #1, but if we're honest, most of us treat him like a sidepiece. In this episode, C.L. breaks down what true intimacy with God looks like—real connection, consistency, and communication, not convenience. From checking your spiritual health to learning how to claim God boldly, this convo challenges you to stop keeping him hidden and start living like he's truly first in your life. Most religions teach that if we mess up a relationship with the divine, we have to fix it. If our karma is bad or our scale shows more bad deeds than good or if we've broken a few too many commandments, we'd better make up for it. And that's what makes Christianity different: God reconciled us. But what does that actually mean? Pastor Mike digs deep into one of the most emotional words in the Bible: reconcile. And he explains how it has changed our lives.
Mark 3 takes us to the synagogue and to the Pharisees who were watching Jesus to find fault. Jesus became angry at their concern for their manmade laws while showing no concern for people who were suffering. Jesus withdrew, and as demon-possessed people came to be healed, Jesus wouldn't let them speak. In this episode we examine anger, withdrawing as a coping strategy, and when to speak up or not say anything, even if it's the truth! This episode tackles the questions almost everyone has about Christianity but rarely gets honest answers to — from “What is a good person?” to aliens, to why God judged entire cities in the Old Testament. It's raw, real, and full of the kind of conversations people actually have when they're searching for truth, not church clichés. If you've ever wrestled with faith or wanted to ask the questions Christians are scared to answer, this one's for you. In our spiritual war, it's not just important to know the gospel—but to share it. But for many of us, fear keeps us silent. What if we say the wrong thing? What if it ruins a relationship? Even the apostle Paul, one of history's boldest evangelists, asked for prayers to share the gospel fearlessly. In this message, Pastor Mike helps you learn how to overcome fear, seize the right moments, and boldly proclaim the hope of Jesus in a world that desperately needs it. The battle is real, but so is the power of the gospel.
This episode covers Mark 1:21-45. These few verses are packed full of miraculous healings by Jesus and Jesus' authoritative teaching. Also learn what gospel motivation is and witness Jesus' model for your prayer life.
We love to make promises we can't keep—swearing to God, making deals, or vowing things we were never asked to. But God's promises? They actually hit different because he keeps every single one. This episode unpacks why our vows fall short and why trusting God's Word changes everything.Acts 5Judges 11
Spiritual battles aren't won with willpower alone—they're won on our knees in prayer. Yet for many of us, prayer feels like a struggle. We forget, we feel unworthy, or we simply don't know where to start. But in Ephesians 6, the apostle Paul reminds us that prayer isn't just a part of the Christian life—it's essential to standing firm against the enemy. In this message, you'll discover why prayer is both your greatest weapon and your deepest connection to God and how even the smallest prayer in Jesus' name can have a powerful impact.
Today's episode is about a man named John the Baptist and God's plan for him, Jesus' baptism and temptation, the meaning of the term "kingdom of God," and the calling of Jesus' first disciples. We'll also consider four things that Jesus went through—which we also will go through in our own faith journeys. Look for additional resources, including PDFs for discussion and additional study, on Amberalbeeswenson.org.
Let's get real—Sexuality in our culture is broken. Straight, gay, married, single ... none of us makes it out untouched. God's Word doesn't ignore it. He exposes the damage AND offers a better design. From wild biblical family drama to today's headlines, we'll dive into desire, identity, intimacy, and the cross-shaped life Jesus calls ALL of us to live. We'll unpack how we feed the brokenness, why chasing happiness leaves us empty, and how deeper intimacy with Christ brings healing, transformation, and purpose whether single or married.Mark 10Matthew 19Song of Songs1 Corinthians 7:32–34Judges 8:30Genesis 19Genesis 38 (Judah, Tamar, Onan)Luke 2:41–50Mark 10:45Matthew 6:33Romans 12:2Mark 8:34,35James 5:16Subscribe to CL's new YouTube channel! http://youtube.com/@thenonmicrowavedtruth
No soldier walks into battle without the right gear, and no Christian can stand strong without the armor of God. The enemy isn't just attacking—you're in a spiritual war whether you realize it or not. But God has provided everything you need to stand firm. In this message, Pastor Mike breaks down each piece of the armor of God from Ephesians 6 and shows how to “fit check” your faith daily so that when the battle comes, you're ready to stand strong in God's mighty power.
We are beginning a new series today called "Screenshots of Jesus: A Study of the Life of Jesus Through the Book of Mark." And over the course of several months, we'll walk through the gospel of Mark. This episode offers an introduction to the Bible book and the writer. Look for additional resources, including PDFs for discussion and additional study, on Amberalbeeswenson.org.
Who in the world could turn stones into bread? Or who could turn stones into descendants of Abraham? Only the Lord God of heaven and earth. In this episode, Dr. Bruce Becker examines the occurrences of "rocks" and "stones" and their significance in the four gospels--Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.If you enjoy this podcast and make it a regular part of your week, would you consider helping us with your support? Be alert and have the right headspace for when the devil attacks. If Jesus quoted Scripture when he was tempted, doesn't that tell you something?!
Spiritual warfare isn't always obvious. Temptation doesn't always look like something terrible. Often it's disguised as something good taken too far. So how do you stand firm when the battle comes to you? In this message, Pastor Mike teaches you that one powerful verse from Ephesians 6 reveals how to prepare for “the day of evil” so that when it comes—not if, but when—you'll be ready to stand your ground and fight the good fight of faith.
We are taking a look at one little verse in Exodus 38 today that talks about what some women were willing to give up in order to give to the Lord sacrificially. And as we study these women, I hope we take a look at ourselves and ask, "What would I be willing to give?"Amber wants to hear from you! Tune in, get a laugh, and vote on which meme looks most like C.L. In this episode, C.L. talks about culture's obsession with going viral, how Zacchaeus might've been the original “meme moment,” and why sometimes looking foolish is exactly what it takes to see Jesus clearly. Luke 19
Every day you wake up in the middle of a battle. The enemy isn't firing bullets but lies, temptations, and distractions—scheming to pull you away from faith, hope, and the truth of God's Word. The good news? You don't have to fight alone. God gives you his strength, his armor, and his power to stand firm. In this kickoff to our series on spiritual warfare, you'll learn why the key to victory isn't found in your own strength but in being strong in God. Because when your feet are firmly planted in Jesus, you don't just take hits—you fight back.
"Work" is often seen as a dirty word, and yet the vast majority of us work for someone. Whether you love your job or hate your job is irrelevant. So much of life hinges on this single thing we call self-control—because there are so many temptations that can overcome us. So how do we get more self-control? Pastor Mike zeroes in on two big ways that God helps us have more self-control.

Some of us never stop working; some of us struggle to start. In a world that glorifies both hustle and comfort, how do we find the right balance? Today we dive into God's design for work and rest—why doing too much can drain us, why doing too little can burden others, and how the cross of Jesus gives us both the motivation to work and the freedom to rest.

Words are everywhere—spoken, texted, posted, whispered. And yet for all the words we use, some have the power to build while others quietly destroy. Slander isn't just a legal term or a political tactic; it's what happens when our words assume, exaggerate, or tear down. Why do we do it? How does it affect our relationships? And what does God want to replace it with? Pastor Mike helps us see why Jesus takes our words so seriously and how speaking the right words can change everything—starting with the words he speaks over us.
Everyone worships something. Whether it's success, relationships, comfort, control, or even our own opinions, there's always something fighting for first place in our hearts. That's what the Bible calls idolatry—not just statues and shrines but anything we fear, love, or trust in more than God. Today's message looks at how idols promise fulfillment but leave us empty and how only Jesus can truly satisfy our hearts.
Do you find it difficult to share your faith? Amber sits down with Pastor Jonathan Hein for a timely and honest conversation about why sharing our faith feels harder than ever—and why it still matters more than you realize. They unpack the growing skepticism around church, the impact of spiritual hurt, and what it actually looks like to bring Jesus into everyday relationships. Through personal stories and practical insight, Amber and Pastor Hein highlight the quiet power of small, intentional moments that reflect Christ. This is the last of the conversations Amber had at the Christian Leadership Experience in La Crosse, Wisconsin, earlier this summer. The conference was a chance for those in ministry to learn from leaders. Pastor Jonathan Hein led a workshop titled, "Leading Others to Jesus."
Did you know that the Lord God only approved of two kinds of altars? In this episode, Dr. Bruce Becker examines the natural altars on which sacrifices were made to the one, true God in the Old Testament. If you enjoy this podcast and make it a regular part of your week, would you consider helping us with your support? Some sins are obvious, marked by shame and confession. But what about the ones we don't think twice about—habits so ingrained in our lives that they no longer feel like sins at all? That's the premise of this new sermon series. The first message hones in on gluttony, where it's not about the number on a scale but the posture of our hearts toward food. Could it be that our overindulgence, excessive cravings, and disregard for self-control are keeping us from the purpose God has for us? Pastor Mike helps us explore what Scripture says about gluttony, why it matters, and how Jesus meets us at the table—not with condemnation but with grace that leads to change.
What does it mean to give generously to the church? In this insightful conversation with Amber and her guest, Josh Birkholz, you are invited to explore generosity and giving from a fresh, meaningful perspective grounded in faith and community. Josh, a fundraising consultant, reveals how giving is not merely an obligation but a source of genuine joy that connects people to something greater than themselves. The discussion challenges conventional views on philanthropy, emphasizing personal involvement, spiritual gifting, and the importance of inviting everyday donors into ministry. This is one of several conversations Amber had at the Christian Leadership Experience in La Crosse, Wisconsin, earlier this summer. The conference was a chance for those in ministry to learn from leaders. Josh Birkholz gave a keynote address titled, "Bold Generosity: How to Excel in the Grace of Giving."Amber wants to hear from you! They may not make headlines, but gluttony, idolatry, slander, and laziness quietly shape our lives more than we'd like to admit. Pastor Mike and Amber preview the new sermon series, "Not So Scarlet Letters," and explore why these “less scandalous” sins can be just as damaging to our souls—especially when they become habits we justify, ignore, or even celebrate. Through humor, vulnerability, and biblical truth, we'll be challenged to examine our hearts, confront what's quietly taking God's place, and take small but powerful steps toward freedom.Pastor Mike mentions how you can get a Leathersoft NIV Value Thinline Bible this month as thanks for your gift in support of Time of Grace. This slim, easy-to-read Bible is a great way to engage with God's Word every single day. We'll also send you a Time of Grace bookmark with some Bible study tips from Pastor Mike. The Bible is challenging to read. There are weird words and weird names in it. There's an Old Testament and a New Testament. There are prophecies and prophets. And if you're new to the Bible, if you've never deeply studied it, it can leave you confused. That's why in this message, Pastor Mike helps us learn how to approach the Bible. Spoiler: It's okay if we don't understand it right away. The important thing is to admit this.Pastor Mike mentions this month's $125,000 Challenge Grant! How do we define worship? Amber and her guest Brian Davison, lead singer of the band Koiné, explore that question. They discuss how Koiné puts modern spins on traditional hymns and what worship really means—both personally and in a church setting—stressing that worship doesn't have to follow a strict format. The conversation also covers how different styles of worship can connect with different people and the importance of being open to change while keeping Christ at the center. This is one of several conversations Amber had at the Christian Leadership Experience in La Crosse, Wisconsin, earlier this summer. The conference was a chance for those in ministry to learn from leaders. Brian led worship during the conference.Amber wants to hear from you! We all want to grow in faith, but sometimes pride gets in the way. When you don't understand something about God, the Bible, or faith, it's easier to fake it than admit it. But real growth happens when you're honest about what you don't know. In this message, you'll see why God doesn't want you to pretend—you grow stronger when you admit your questions and seek understanding. Because honest Christians don't just show up to church—they ask, they learn, and they get it.Pastor Mike mentions this month's $125,000 Challenge Grant! The conversation reveals how Lighthouse provides more than just a safe space. It equips youth with vital life skills and fosters spiritual growth amid difficult circumstances. This is one of several conversations Amber had at the Christian Leadership Experience in La Crosse, Wisconsin, earlier this summer. "The Non-Microwaved Truth" is on microwave time, so we'll have a quick message today. So many people have Bible verses or spiritual symbols tattooed on them ... but is it more than ink? Can you live out what's tattooed on your body? Is it written on your heart too? We'll talk life verses, meaningful ink, and practical tattoo advice.
Most of us don't like confrontation. It's awkward, uncomfortable, and there's no guarantee it will go well. But when a fellow Christian is caught in sin, looking the other way isn't love—it's avoidance. In this message, you'll see how Jesus calls you to speak the truth in love, not to tear people down but to help them turn back to him. Because honest Christians don't just confess their own sins—they love others enough to speak up.
