Ted was born in Ohio and moved to Oklahoma with his parents in 1978. He lives in Muskogee, OK, with his wife, Patti, his sweetheart of 38 years. They have three children and six grandchildren. With one on the way!   His first novel published in 2024, is actually four shorter works that were combined to make the Skips Sparks Anthology, A Farm Boy, a Tomboy, Jesus Freaks and Divine Appointments.   Ted is a singer-songwriter writing songs for Aukrocket Records. Also, on Reverbnation is music from Skip Sparks, one of his characters and Ted's alter ego.   In my book review, I stated A Farmboy, A Tomboy, Jesus Freaks, and Divine Appointments is a Christian historical fiction filled with music, laughter, hard times, and saving grace. I thoroughly enjoyed Ted's characters, all of whom had problems, issues, disappointments, and poor decisions - and yet, they also had kindness, love, determination, and a need for something more than the world seemed ready to offer.   This is a meandering story where you get to meet the characters, remeet them at earlier and later points in their lives, and finally see how they all come together, each touching the other. They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have.” — Acts 10:47 Have you heard the saying “The more things change, the more they stay the same”? Though Jesus had come to change the spiritual lives of all who would believe in him as Savior, some things in the lives of Peter and others remained the same. But a divine appointment changed everything. As a leader in the early church, Peter set an example for the Jewish followers of Jesus. He kept the Sabbath with prayer and rest. He kept kosher, carefully minding the strict Jewish dietary rules. What's more, he shunned contact with Gentiles (non-Jews), and, like all Jews, he hated the Romans. But that wasn't how the Lord wanted the church to be. So the Lord sent Peter a troubling vision and put him on a mission to visit a Roman centurion (Acts 10:1-23). And Peter learned that he needed to change his mind. And when he saw that the Holy Spirit came on all the Gentiles who had heard the good news of salvation, Peter began to understand the wideness of God's love for all people. So he called for these Gentiles be baptized in Jesus' name. Here God used Peter's standing in the church to begin a crucial turning point in the history of the church. If you love Jesus, God loves you. It doesn't matter if you're Jewish or not. Jesus calls us to love and serve all of God's children. Lord, thank you for your love for people of every language and nation. Help us to love as you have loved us. Amen.

Discovering and living out our calling in Christ is one of the greatest joys and responsibilities we have as followers of Jesus. Each of us is uniquely gifted, and God desires for us to use those gifts not just within the walls of the church, but in our neighborhoods, schools, workplaces, and beyond. The church is not a building—it's the people, empowered by the Spirit, carrying the presence and love of Christ wherever we go. We are in a relay race of faith, having received the baton from those who came before us, and now it's our turn to run our leg and pass it on to the next generation.Our calling is not about simply attending services or knowing the back of someone's head in worship. It's about connection, relationship, and active participation in God's mission. Through stories from our own community and our partners in Honduras, we see how God weaves together our gifts, backgrounds, and even our professions in unexpected ways to serve others and advance His kingdom. Sometimes, the place where we serve may not match our occupation, but God uses our willingness and relationships to open doors for ministry and transformation.The unity of the church is a powerful witness to the world. Jesus prayed in John 17 that we would be one, just as He and the Father are one, so that the world would know He was sent by God. Our unity is not just for our own benefit, but so that the world may see Christ in us. The incarnation of Jesus continues through us—wherever we go, He goes, because He lives in us. We are carriers of His glory, called to serve together in unity, passing the baton of faith to those who come after us.Today is an invitation to step into the fullness of what God has for you. In this sermon, Pastor Zac teaches through the story of Philip and the Ethiopian, explaining how God appoints circumstances.How God Works Through Divine AppointmentsThe story of Philip and the Ethiopian is one that shows how God works behind the scenes. Philip is traveling on the road when he encounters the Ethiopian reading a prophecy about Jesus in his chariot. First asking if he understands it, Philip then offers to explain it when the man says no. The Ethiopian was far from home and in the perfect position to receive the gospel message from Philip, and Philip was in the perfect position to give it. God orchestrates events so that encounters like this can happen, and not just in the bible. God does this today, and Christians need to be ready for it when it does happen.Listen for God's leading.There are a few questions we can ask ourselves to confirm that something we should do is godly. First is: Does it contradict scripture? If the answer to this is yes, then what we are thinking of is never from God. God will never contradict himself, so anything that contradicts his word is automatically wrong. The second question is this: Does it bring peace or fear? God gave us a spirit of courage, not fear, and his perfect love casts out fear. If there is no sense of peace about something, it may not be from God. The third question is: Does it encourage obedience or excuses? Often when we are faced with a decision, one option will lead us into obedience to God and the other will lead us to making excuses for not following him. We should always choos the option that makes us obedient to God. Lastly: Does it point you to Jesus? This question is simple, but we often get distracted by issues that don't point us to Jesus and must be careful to stay focused.Be ready with an answer.When Philip found himself in front of the Ethiopian, he seized the opportunity to explain the gospel. He didn't let the situation pass him by, he didn't make any excuses, and he didn't leave it for someone else. No, Philip jumped right in and asked the man if he needed an explanation. Then he used the very passage the man was reading to explain who Jesus was and how he had fulfilled it just a few months prior. The bible tells Christians to always be ready with an answer for the hope that we have. How can you prepare that answer in your own life?

What does it mean to never forget? There are moments in life that are so significant, so transformative, that they become woven into the very fabric of who we are. These are not just memories; they are defining encounters that shape our story. For me, one such moment was the first time I read John 3:16 as a child, not in a church, but in a motel room after seeing the verse on a sign at a football game. I didn't fully understand it then, but the seed was planted—a seed that would bear fruit a decade later when I surrendered my life to Christ. God's Word never returns void; it works in us, sometimes quietly, until the day it changes everything.In Acts 8, we see another unforgettable encounter—Philip and the Ethiopian official. Philip, in the midst of a thriving ministry in Jerusalem, is called by the Spirit to leave the action and go to a desert road. Without hesitation, he obeys. There, he meets a high-ranking Ethiopian who is reading Isaiah but doesn't understand it. Philip runs to him, joins his chariot, and simply opens his mouth to share Jesus, starting from the very scripture the Ethiopian was reading. The result is immediate: the Ethiopian believes, is baptized, and goes on his way rejoicing, even as Philip is miraculously taken away.This story is a powerful reminder that God orchestrates divine appointments, sometimes pulling us away from the familiar or the exciting to reach one searching soul. It's a call to radical obedience—arise when He calls, go where He sends, and run when He shows you the opportunity. The Ethiopian's response is especially striking: after Philip disappears, his focus is not on the miracle but on the joy of salvation. He is so transformed by his encounter with Christ that nothing can distract him from rejoicing in what God has done.The difference between remembering and never forgetting is the weight of significance.
