In this hot and fresh episode of Loud Friends, we've returned from yet another schedule hiccup after seeing each other in the real, actual flesh world for the first time in three years! Zac visited Mike in the Big, Wet Apple, and there was much merriment. There was also an element of danger, as Zac drank a can of Pepsi Fire that has been in Mike's fridge since...uh...2017? 2018? Who could say, really. The results were not what we expected. It's a bit of a looser episode, because after having a lot of people in his house, prepping for a road trip, and the long-awaited onset of Cozy Season, Mike was knee deep in some brain fog. Despite this, we still managed to have a rousing discussion about the recently released Splatoon 3, and some early thoughts on our time with Immortality, a game we started playing together in the same room! I don't remember how to end these things! Listen or perish! -- Mike can be found on his blog and also @eganworks Zac can be found by following the trail of glowing sludge he now leaves in his wake. On this month’s FaceLifted episode of High-Dere, Ian & Joe discuss death of the old and birth of the new; evolving lives, stories, entertainment and crimes that make up this crazy-ass world we exist in.Apparently Ian feels that to see his stolen stuff again would be akin to THE Disciples seeing Christ again after his death...or seeing Superman return to life after HIS death. Crazy! Then we dive into the death of creative productivity due to technical software issues and how they completely wreak havoc on our emotions, much like the Pepsi Fire that wreaked havoc on Michael Jackson's hair. ;)We then hear about a BLOW-UP fight that happened between Ian & Joe and learn why High-Dere is important to them & why it’s crucial to have it stick around.THEN we look at the hypocrisy that exists between the widely praised J-Lo and Shakira headlined Super Bowl LIV halftime show and the hubbub created by the (tame by comparison) wardrobe malfunction involving Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake for Super Bowl XXXVIII.We wind down the show by talking about some incredibly interesting DocuSeries presented by Netflix. Most of which deal with HEAVY topics like Murder, rage, the opioid crisis and Nazis. Almost as fun as having to be the person who tells a sibling that their childhood hero died. Yeah......And just as a reminder, keep your eyes open. All people in power "Poke the Bear" in one way or another; they've all done it. That's no reason for an entire half of the country to completely unravel just to defeat the other half of the counrty. We're all in this together, right? All this and more on this “Lucky-To-Be-Here” episode of High-Dere.PLUGS:If you’d like to host an intimate evening House Show with Joe “Songbird” Moralez in 2020, please visit songbirdofficial.com/house-show for more info!INVITEES:Trey Parker & Matt Stone (South Park creators), Louise & Lisa Burns (The Grady twins from The Shining) and Lana & Lilly Wachowski (The Matrix creators)MUSIC:“Waves” by Pictures of the Floating World“Seeing You Again” by Ketsa“Streets” by Yung Kartz“Multiverse” by Ketsa“Stars” by Yung Kartz“Canada” by Pictures of the Floating World“Lemon Lime” by BrevynLINKS:The Death and Return of Superman Graphic Novel Collectionhttps://elftree.co/doomsdaySuper Bowl LIV Halftime Show Backlashhttps://elftree.co/shakiraThe Pharmacisthttps://elftree.co/pharmacistThe Devil Next Doorhttps://elftree.co/devilnextdoorHenry Lee Lucas (The Confession Killer)https://elftree.co/henrylucasConversations with a Killerhttps://elftree.co/bundyPhilosophy Clip from The Greatest Skill of All Time by Alan Watts

Zima is back, motherfuckers. The "refreshing citrus beverage" that was discontinued in the U.S. nearly 10 years ago returned to liquor store shelves this week. Instead of having our staff weigh in, we called in an expert to give some thoughts on the malt beverage, as well as other limited time or seasonal products. Host Tyler Maas was joined by Taste Of Home editor (and former Milwaukee Record contributor) Rachel Seis. After trying some Zima, they evaluated Mountain Dew's patriotic new Dew.S.A., the cinn-ful Pepsi Fire, and Red Bull's just-released Purple Edition before moving to Taco Bell's Naked Chicken Chips. Before the end of the show—which, let's be honest, it pretty much just a Doughboys tribute episode—the taste buds also sipped the seasonal #Merica! lager from On The Record beer sponsor Surly.

A BIG victory and congratulations goes out to DC's own, Kara McCullough! For the second consecutive year, Miss District of Columbia, a black woman and HBCU graduate, has been crowned Miss USA. Outgoing 2016 Miss USA, Deshauna Barber crowned her fellow Washington, D.C. resident Sunday night in Las Vegas. McCullough is a chemist working for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. However, the new Miss USA raised some eyebrows with her thoughts on healthcare and feminism. A big defeat in this case goes to comedian, Mo'Nique. Mo’Nique tells Lee Daniels, Tyler Perry and Oprah, “you can suck my d*ck, if I had one". For years, Monique has talked about being blackballed from Hollywood for being too “real”. She even claimed that she was supposed to have the role of "Cookie" on Fox's EMPIRE. Her suspicions were confirmed when director Lee Daniels suggested that Mo'Nique's career slowed down after winning an Oscar for her role in Precious because she didn't know how to "play the game". This is crazy! The actor who played Suge Knight in ‘Straight Outta Compton’ was arrested for acting like...Suge Knight? Richard Marcus Taylor was arrested in Miami for allegedly beating up a security guard. Looks like he has a challenging time getting out of character! You choose, victory or defeat - cinnamon-flavored Pepsi hitting shelves this summer, Pepsi Fire. Pepsi Fire will be available at major retailers and select 7-Eleven stores as a Slurpee. Will you be drinking this?? In studio, we had a special guest, Zoye Blacc (Bringing Light And Changing Culture (Blacc).
