Welcome to the July episode of the Digitally Uploaded podcast! This month, we kick off discussing all the big games in July, highlighting anticipated titles like Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail, Battle Cats Unite, and The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak. We also discuss niche titles and ports like Spin Rhythm XD, Princess Maker 2 Regeneration, and Earth Defense Force 6. From there, we explore the newly released Nintendo 64 Mature App, which currently includes the two classics Perfect Dark and Turok. Two games doesn't make much of a compilation, so we discuss some of the other games that we hope to see on there, including Turok 2, Conker's Bad Fur Day, and Mortal Kombat Trilogy. Finally, we wrap up with a chat on the representation of female protagonists in gaming. With the upcoming The Legend of Zelda game starring Zelda herself and the recent Princess Peach Showtime, we debate the merits and challenges of diversifying character roles while maintaining their core identities. Thanks as always for tuning in, and we'll see you next month!
In which we play Princess Maker: Refine, a being-the-adoptive-father-of-a-war-orphan-and-telling-her-exactly-what-to-do-with-her-life simulator. Warning: game contains skin-crawling paternalism and misogyny. Pippin isn't sure how to be a good father through a dehumanizing interface. David thinks it might have good bones under its gross skin. These, and other GAMETHINGS. Princess Maker: Refine is a remake of the original Princess Maker from 1991 developed and published by Gainax. The remake was developed by CFK and published by Bliss Brain in 2017. – Visit us: https://gamething.life Email us: contact@gamething.life Support us: https://patreon.com/othergamethings/

A few days before his 40th birthday I sat down for a meander through videogame past with Kieron Gillen. After a long and storied career in videogame journalism - starting at Amiga Power to becoming one of the founders of Rock, Paper, Shotgun via New Games Journalism - Kieron has moved on to a successful career as a comic book writer. With a hugely successful run of books from Thor to Darth Vader, as well as his two creator owned books with Jamie McKelvie, Phonogram and the Wicked and the Divine, which has recently been optioned for a TV series. We discuss a lot of videogames, Early disappointment with Tthe Hobbit, the importance of Gauntlet, the quality of writing in Speedball 2, creating poets in Princess Maker, the communal joy of Chaos, an alternate God Hand future, how Let's Plays are the final form of New Games Journalism and you don't want to know what he thinks about Zelda. Also a story of a testicle based injury caused by City of Heroes. You're welcome.

“Fewer Than 7,000 People Have Heard of Jesus” It’s a slightly shorter episode this week, thanks in large part to Audacity eating one of our guest’s audio, forcing us to edit them out completely. But the podcast that burns shorter burns more brightly as our host I “Wicky Wicky Wild Wild” Coleman is joined by Bethany “The Punisher” Meadows, Anthony “Trapped in Bad Anime Hell” Spivey, and Jonathan “I. CARE. A LOT.” Trussler to discuss some controversial topics this week, including racism, anti-semitism, and the ever-dreaded feminism. But it’s not all seriousness, as we also chat about dogs, anime booby games, Shadow Warrior 2, and a long-awaited conversation about Luke Cage. We even got to some news this week! Day-One Talking Points: Life in hell, Princess Maker… Read More... The post Hey Poor Podcast Episode 71: DLC For Dogs appeared first on Hey Poor Player.
A tribute to Masahiro Kajihara, one of the most prolific composers on FM-based sound hardware. He is probably best known for his work on the Princess Maker series, but he also played an integral part in the creation of the Japanese computer music scene of the '90s as his PMD sound drivers were widely used for game soundtracks and demo music.
