The Fork In Your Ear Ep#218 Jimonthy Crickets! - Podcast Show Notes & Summery 8-1-26 Quick Summary Tim and Nate open with the usual technical chaos—Nate's ancient camera older than his kids, USB hub murders, Windows being Windows, and a new meshy chair—before Tim scrapes himself off the floor with minimal coffee. The big gaming bombshell is Nintendo snagging a FromSoftware exclusive (Dustbloods) led by Miyazaki himself: Bloodborne-vibes, industrial revolution setting, up to eight-player PvE, and Tim is currently in the closed NDA network test. Microsoft brings four original Xbox classics to PC (Fusion Frenzy, Crimson Skies, Conker's Live and Reloaded), sparking preservation vs. "just sell it again" debate. Nate digs into the new Halo campaign on PC while Tim's wrist is still sidelining him. Entertainment covers Spider-Man: Brand New Day (Tim is all-in), American Psycho after a four-and-a-half-hour serial-killer museum visit, and the couple literally dodging the Bite of Seattle shooting by having a fight and going home. Life wraps with raccoon babies, the local "Jimmathy" meme, and Nate's wife getting back on two wheels with a nearly-new 2025 Triumph Speed Twin 900. Classic Fork energy from start to duck-call finish. Detailed Show Notes
Welcome back to another episode of Press B to Cancel! This week the crew is diving deep into retro gaming history to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Nintendo 64. From early polygon nightmares to timeless multiplayer masterpieces, we share our favorite memories of Nintendo's classic 3d console. We discuss the legendary games that defined an era, high stakes multiplayer of GoldenEye 007, rampant destruction of Blast Corps, game changing innovations of The New Tetris, blazing speeds (#tunnels) of F Zero X, and the wonderfully crude humor of Conker's Bad Fur Day. As well who could forget the eye watering cost of cartridges and the cumbersome controller paks. Press B To Cancel also on YouTube! Hyle and Gibbon discuss the Super Pocket Rare Edition! Bundled with 14 games, it includes a new official build of Banjo-Kazooie with quite a few surprises for longtime fans. How does the classic 3D platformer even work with a D-Pad? Is it worth the purchase? And did Hyle accidentally wreck a beloved bit in Conker's Pocket Tales?
Welcome to Dev Game Club, where this week we continue our series on Psychonauts. We unravel more about what this game even *is*, while at the same time looking at things like level design, abilities and powers, and other topics, before turning to listener mail. An example of why this podcast is called "Hardly Focused" - a discussion about Faith No More reuniting turns into reminiscing about The Great Mighty Poo from the Nintendo 64 game Conker's Bad Fur Day. Jack and Nate try their best, but staying on-topic remains a regular struggle. Hey, at least Mike Patton and the boys are back together! Also in this installment of Hardly Focused: What does one formally call a podcast with video? Jack once again injures his right hand. The America 250 concert is everything the Great American State Fair isn't. Louis CK has a new Netflix special, and it's going to do just fine. Remembering Daveigh Chase, whom everyone forgot voices Lilo in Lilo and Stitch. That insane video of the bungee jumper in Brazil who wasn't attached to anything. Episode #419 of BGMania: A Video Game Music Podcast. Today on the show, Bryan and Bedroth take a deep dive into their High School years to celebrate the year that was in 2001. For our annual retrospective into a prior year before this show existed, the guys explore what was honestly a very pivotal year for our industry. Not only did we see the Nintendo Gamecube, Game Boy Advance, and original Xbox release, but we had the beginning of a game and franchise that really defined an entire generation of gamers... Halo: Combat Evolved. Not to mention the plethora of other heavy hitters that released in 2001. Episode 404: Conker Spirit - Dorset Dry Gin by Maverick Productions
It's a Hyle and Matt chat about Rare Collection 1, the new 12-game compilation on Evercade! Sarah is grappling with her diminished enthusiasm for sPoOoOoOoky season and the reason she's less into it these days. We hear about the women's basketball Olympic team from 1996, and how they ushered in the creation of the WNBA, and the tragedy that befell one of the gold medalists. We discuss the British game of Conker and the championship scandal that is cracking us up (pun intended). And Sarah's got a theory about what really happened... We learn about a horrific organ donation story that will make you question the whole process. We hear what European countries that are the most...romantic (horny) and why Sarah's theory about this might be wrong. We discuss the men who are dating AI robots and why they are misguided in their approach to handling their loneliness and fears of rejection. Plus, Sarah asked ChatGPT to tell her something about herself and she was brought to tears with its answer.Listen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.comJoin our Candy Club, shop our merch, sign-up for our free newsletter, & more by visiting The Brain Candy Podcast website: https://www.thebraincandypodcast.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodSponsors:This episode is sponsored by/brought to you by BetterHelp. I fought it for as long as I could, but much like Homer revisiting New York City, it's time for me to face my demons and talk about this damned game.Donkey Kong 64 is the collectathon of all collectathons. You control 5 different Kongs and make your way through a bunch of levels looking for regular bananas, gold bananas, banana birds, coins, blueprints and more stuff I'm probably forgetting. While it's cool that each Kong plays differently and brings something unique to the table, the constant (FUCKING CONSTANT) swapping between them just leaves a sour taste in my mouth that I can't get over. I don't care for this game.My guest, Bradley McCue, isn't the world's biggest fan either. Frankly, I think he's a little harder on the game than I am. But I think we were tough but fair, showed it some love when it deserved it, and voiced our Donkey Kong 64 frustrations in a calm and reasonable manner for the most part. No Angry Adam. And before we go looking for a fucking Kong barrel to swap monkeys with, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week, someone asks me to rank the 5 Zelda games I'd most like to see remade. Have I tried one of the remapped N64 controllers? And can we expect more Metroid Prime reviews before Prime 4 drops??Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 Nintendo 64 Rare games: Banjo-Kazooie, Conker's Bad Fur Day, and Perfect Dark. Learn more about your ad choices.
