This is not a drill. Hollow Knight Silksong not only has a release date... It's NEXT WEEK! As exciting as that is, we have to deal with the here and now. Brad tries his best to talk about Sword of the Sea without mentioning Journey but fails miserably. Nick delves into Heartworm, a 2025 indie horror game that harkens back to the days of PS1-era survival horror and Chris Davis continues his recent love affair with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 but focuses on the campaign this week. With a little Lumines Arise (Demo), Death Stranding 2, Donkey Kong Bananza, and some Deadlock Beta impressions sprinkled throughout, you've got yourself a podcast. Frank is joined by Kyle and Scott for a packed roundtable on Gamescom highlights, World of Warcraft Midnight reveals, and a friendly debate on brand events versus trade shows. The crew breaks down Hollow Knight Silksong hype, Fallout Season 2's New Vegas vibe, a surprise standout in Lego Batman, and how Blizzard's housing and three raids at launch could reshape the way we play. They wrap with network updates and weekly recommendations. Fallout Season 2 leans into New Vegas energy and looks ready to give Walton Goggins even more to chew on. Lego Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight plays like a full Arkham style experience in a lighter package. World of Warcraft Midnight lands with a striking Silvermoon set piece and a clear villain in Zalatath while sparking questions about the light aligned reinforcements. Midnight launches with three raids, eight dungeons, delves, and a prey system that targets you in the open world for dynamic encounters. Housing is fully free form with place anywhere decoration, neighborhood vibes, and recipes scattered across old zones and dungeons, which brings back legacy professions and exploration. Built in raid tools and UI polish aim to raise the floor for everyone, not just add on users. Brand owned shows like BlizzCon deliver clarity, atmosphere, and community rituals. Trade shows give reach and variety but can dilute focus. Memorable Quotes “Hollow Knight Silksong got a release date. I am beyond excited.” “Lego Batman is straight up a new Arkham game. Who knew that would be the most complete Batman experience.” “Lor'themar finally got his moment to be the badass I always wanted him to be.” “Three raids at launch is a return to a cadence that actually fits how people play now.” “Housing should pull you back into old Azeroth and make those zones feel alive again.” Call to Action Enjoyed the episode? Welcome to episode 135 of Nintendo Therapy!
The summer is slowly waning, and an autumn packed with new video games fast approaches. Join Alex, Kyle, Charles, and Eric as they take a look at some of the first big games of 2025's latter half, from Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater to early impressions of Battlefield 6 through its open beta. There's also some details on the strange sports game Drag x Drive from Nintendo, the gorgeous blade-skater Sword of the Sea, the charming indie puzzler Is This Seat Taken?, and our reactions to Gamescom Opening Night Live. We must stress: this was recorded before the Hollow Knight Silksong broadcast, so enjoy a few speculative guesses at what it might have been, preserved in amber for our audience.Subscribe to Game Informer Magazine: https://gameinformer.com/subscribeFollow our hosts on social media:Alex Van Aken (@itsVanAken)Kyle Hilliard (@kylehilliard)Charles Harte (@chuckduck365)Eric Van Allen (@seamoosi)Jump to a specific discussion using these timestamps:00:00 - Intro03:36 - Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater15:31 - Sword of the Sea30:23 - Drag x Drive42:33 - Battlefield 6 Open Beta1:01:00 - Is This Seat Taken?1:20:41 - Gamescom Opening Night Live reactions

Believe it or not, there is also big news to report regarding Hollow Knight Silksong and Bioshock 4! On this week's episode, Nathan, Chris, and Riley discuss Hollow Knight: Silksong, a game that is finally, actually, really real after years of anticipation (and Geoff Keighley showcase disappointments). It looks like… more Hollow Knight. Cool! Also, the developers have said they will not be sending out pre-release review code, citing concern that it would be “unfair” to Kickstarter backers and regular players. But perhaps that approach is better for interesting writing about the game – and games in general – in the long run? We're left with another question, as well: Now that Silksong is just around the corner, what games remain in the Painfully Long-Awaited Pantheon? What will be the next Silksong? Then we talk about other cool games that have received a Gamescom spotlight: Ninja Gaiden 4, Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2, Resident Evil Requiem, and of course, Denshattack, which looks way better than all those other games. Lastly, we discuss the impact of Trump's tariffs on video games – for the first time in maybe ever, console prices are going up toward the end of a generation, not down – and how they represent a stealth tax on GTA VI (which will probably be very expensive in its own right). Oh, and Chris decides to just make his own PlayStation 5, until he realizes that it'd probably land him in jail.
