#209# Ted Rath is the New Orleans Saints director of sports performance.Rath comes to New Orleans after four seasons directing the strength and conditioning efforts of the Philadelphia Eagles. He originally joined the team as the director of sports performance in 2020 and was promoted to vice president of player performance in 2021. During his four full seasons in Philadelphia, the Eagles reached the playoffs three times with Rath overseeing the team's strength and conditioning program. In 2022, when the Eagles reached Super Bowl LVII, he was named the Strength Coach of the Year by the Professional Football Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association for the second time in his career, an award voted on by the league's strength and conditioning coaches.In 2017, the first season of his three-year tenure with the Los Angeles Rams, Rath was named the Strength Coach of the Year for the first time, when according to Football Outsiders, Los Angeles finished as the healthiest team in the NFL based on adjusted games lost due to injury. Send us a text Coach Parker is a legendary strength and conditioning coach who has created strength at every level, from high school, to collegiate, and professional levels. Parker coached for over 34 years he helped establish winning teams at nine programs. While training some of the best players and assisting some of the finest coaches of all time, Parker participated in four Super Bowls with three different NFL teams, on the winning side 3 times. Parker taught and served as linebacker coach for five seasons at Indianola Academy, from there he went to the University of South Carolina as the strength and conditioning coach until 1977. Coach Parker became the first strength coach in the Big Ten at Indiana University for two years, and after one season at LSU returned to Ole Miss in 1980 to help  the Rebels gain their first bowl appearance since 1971. In 1984 Parker joined the New York Giants under Bill Parcells for nine years where he helped them win Super Bowls in 1986 (the "greatest season ever") and 1990. He then followed Parcells to the New England Patriots for another Super Bowl appearance in 1997. In 2003 Parker's coaching assisted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in upsetting the Oakland Raiders, 48-21, in Super Bowl XXXVII.(37) His impressive career ended with the San Francisco 49ers (2005-2008). In 1994 Coach Parker the Professional Football Strength and Conditioning Coaches Society named him recipient of the President's Award, presented annually to the NFL's top strength and conditioning coach. Ted Rath enters his third season as the Philadelphia Eagles' vice president of player performance. He originally joined the team as the director of sports performance during the 2020 offseason.A two-time NFL Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year, Rath most recently earned the honor following his outstanding work during the 2022 campaign, when the Eagles reached Super Bowl LVII. In addition, after the season, he was chosen as the inaugural president of the newly formed Professional Football Performance Coaches Association. The PFPCA represents all performance, strength and conditioning, and sports science practitioners working within professional football with a mission to increase player health and safety through proper training and player-tracking initiatives.Prior to his arrival in Philadelphia, Rath spent the 2017-19 seasons with the Los Angeles Rams. He began his stint with the Rams as the head strength and conditioning coach before being named director of strength training and performance in 2018, when the Rams earned a trip to Super Bowl LIII.In 2017, Rath was voted the Strength Coach of the Year by the Professional Football Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, an award voted on by the league's strength and conditioning coaches. The greatness of quarterback, Jalen Hurts: Sets high standards for himself: The standard is the standard Loves being coached Constantly works on his craft Stoic: He's calm, consistent, and poised. Ted was part of the decision-making team when deciding the next head coach for The Eagles: Nick Sirianni's five core values: connecting, competition, accountability, intelligence, and fundamentals – connecting is always first. Getting Fired: "It was my 7th year with the team. We had gone to the playoffs the prior year 2014 in Jim Caldwell's first year. In 2015 we started out rough at 1-7 through the first half of the season. We played in London that year, and before leaving for the airport we fired our OC, OL, and asst OL coach. Through the staff shuffle, I ended up helping coach Special Teams during the second half of the season. Our Equipment Manager told me during practice on the first day in London as they were setting up my headset. We ended up finishing strong and going 7-1 in the second half of the season (our only loss was the Thursday night hail mary that Aaron Rodgers completed to Richard Rodgers). After we came back home from London we fired our team President and GM. At the end of the year, the new GM told me he had to let me go to make it look like they were making significant changes in the media." "The climb is about one step at a time." The obstacle is the way: Discipline and perception let you clearly see the advantage and the proper course of action in every situation, without the pestilence of panic or fear. Control your emotions and keep an even keel. How you react to every situation is YOUR CHOICE. Find the opportunity in the obstacle. Self-Discipline must be combined with logic while working through obstacles. Be honest with your self-assessment. Failure is part of all successful team and individual journeys: You don't need to fear it, you just have to refuse to let it beat you We either WIN or LEARN Fail Forward Trials in life will not define you... E.J. Kreis IV is a native of Nashville Tennessee, attended high school in Colorado, graduating from Longmont high school in Longmont Colorado. After high school, E.J. Played collegiate football at Western Colorado University from 2009, to 2013, and was a 4 year starter at cornerback for the Mountaineers, being selected to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference third team as a punt returner his senior year. In 2013, Kreis received his USA weightlifting level one sports performance certification during his undergraduate studies. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in exercise sport science from Western Colorado in 2014, E.J. was selected as a graduate assistant for strength and conditioning at Chadron State College (CSC). In 2015, E.J. became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). In July of 2016, E.J. was named the as the first Head Strength and Conditioning coach at CSC, a position he still holds to this day. While E.J. was a graduate student at CSC, Kreis earned a master’s degree in sports organizational management. Kreis’ father, Doc Kreis, had his career as a collegiate strength and conditioning coach began in 1979 at Georgia Southern University and included additional stops at Vanderbilt, Middle Tennessee State, the University of Colorado, and UCLA. Doc’s career has also included stints in the private sector. Doc received many awards and honors during his career, twice being named National Strength Coach of the Year by the Professional Football Strength and Conditioning Coaches Society. In 1995 Doc was the first individual to receive the prestigious Stan Jones Award, which is presented by the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA). In 2003, Doc was inducted into the inaugural class of the USA Strength & Conditioning Coaches Hall of Fame. In 2017, Doc was honored as a legend in the field for the CSCCA. He was with the Giants for Tom Coughlin’s entire tenure as head coach. Palmieri was the New Orleans Saints’ assistant strength and conditioning coach in 2003. Prior to that he spent nine years as a strength and conditioning coach under Coughlin, one at Boston College (where he was the director of strength and conditioning operations) and eight with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Palmieri began his career as a strength coach at the University of North Carolina in 1982. From there he moved to Oklahoma State University (1984-86) and Kansas State University (1987-92) before joining Coughlin at Boston College. In addition to his coaching experience, Palmieri has taught physical education classes and written articles about strength and conditioning for national publications. Palmieri is a 1980 graduate of Montclair State University. He received a master’s degree in exercise physiology from North Carolina in 1984. Palmieri was a three-time New Jersey Golden Gloves champion (1976-78) and competed in international competitions as a member of the 1978 and 1979 USA Boxing Teams. He was honored as the 2007 Samson’s NFL Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year. In 1999, Palmieri was honored by the Professional Football Strength and Conditioning Coaches Society as Coach of the Year, and then in 2018, this organization presented him with the Lifetime Achievement Award. He was a member of NY Giants’ staffs that won 2 Super Bowl Championships (2007 and 2011). Well before weight training was common in sports, he spent 10 years coaching at the collegiate level, where at Indiana University he became the first strength and conditioning coach in the Big 10. From 1984 until his retirement in 2008, he spent 21 years as an NFL strength coach, beginning with nine years in the New York Giants organization. Under Coach Bill Parcells, he helped them win Super Bowls in 1986 and 1990. Playing against the Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl XXV, the Giants set an all-time Super Bowl record for ball-control possession at 40 minutes and 33 seconds. Parker’s role as a strength and conditioning coach certainly contributed to the Giants’ tradition of excellence. He then went on to spend seven seasons with the New England Patriots, followed by helping the Tampa Bay Buccaneers win the first Super Bowl in team history in 2003. In 2005, Johnny went to the San Francisco 49ers before retiring in 2008. All told, his coaching practices, many of which are outlined in this book, helped to establish winning records with nine teams, including four Super Bowl appearances. Tom Moffitt enters his 13th season at Louisiana State University. From 2000-10, Moffitt help strength train and condition an LSU football team that won 110 games.
