A (relatively) in-depth analysis of American singer-songwriter Natalie Prass in (just over) fifteen minutes.Prass grew up in Virginia, where she met fellow musician Matthew E. White. They played in a band together in the early 2000s, then White moved to Richmond to study jazz. Prass' own journey took her to Berklee and Middle Tennessee State before she settled in Nashville. Eventually she reconnected with White, who was still based in Richmond and was working toward the launch of a record label called Spacebomb. The rest, as they say, is history...In this episode I am in discussion with Dr. Andrew Webber.A huge thank you to the wonderful Heather Murray.https://buymeacoffee.com/lownoiseWhy buy me a coffee?Low Noise is proudly ad-free. The Duke football team stands at 4-0 after putting a beatdown on Middle Tennessee State to the tune of 45-17. Duke dominated this one from early on forcing three first quarter turnovers and turning each of them into TDs to stake an big lead that only grew as the game moved along. The Duke Basketball Roundup digs deep into what Duke was doing right in this contest, especially on the defensive side of the ball. After the break, Jason and Donald look ahead to the first ACC contest of the season, Duke hosting the hated TarHeels. UNC has been kinda mid all season thus far and really stunk up the joint over the weekend when they lost to James Madison 70-50... yes., that is a football score. It's less than 5 weeks until the start of the NFL Draft, and it won't be long before the New Orleans Saints are on the clock at pick No. 14. Is there a specific player they should be looking at or at least a specific position? Jim Derry certainly thinks so, and he has NOLA.com Saints editor Zach Ewing on to talk about it on Monday's Dattitude Podcast (Ep. 219). Also, we hope your bracket looks better than ours … What should we be looking for with some potentially incredible matchups in the Sweet 16. While we're talking March Madness, the LSU women gave their fans a scare through 2½ quarters on Sunday, but then they pulled away from Middle Tennessee State and will face the UCLA-Creighton winner Saturday in Albany. Will they get to the dream Elite Eight game against Caitlin Clark and Iowa? Lastly in Jim's Extra Point, he shares some incredible highlights from a wild and wacky local All-Star basketball game this past weekend that ended with a score of 119-105.

Locked On Louisville - Daily Podcast On Louisville Cardinals Football & Basketball
With Florida Atlantic losing in the NCAA Tournament, the Louisville Cardinals are officially on the clock. Dalton explains why he believes that if the program does hire Dusty May to be the next head basketball coach, that it will likely happen by Wednesday. Despite a tough loss, May possesses qualities that could see him succeed in Louisville. At the end, Dalton discusses the women's basketball team's season-ending loss against Middle Tennessee State.
Tommy West has decided it's time to hang up his whistle after more than four decades in the coaching profession. "It's a young man's game now," said the 69-year-old West, who was on Rick Stockstill's fired staff at Middle Tennessee State. West has kept busy playing golf and taking care of his yard. He says the biggest question is how he'll find the fulfillment that came when he experienced success through grinding away as a coach and recruiter. West goes in-depth on his time at Clemson as an assistant under Danny Ford, and as the Tigers' head coach from 1993 to 1998. Clemson was trying to figure out what it wanted to be back then, and that meant trying to figure out how invested it wanted to be in winning football games. The facilities suffered as a result, and it was West who first came up with the idea to build a complete football-operations facility in the west end zone of Memorial Stadium. That facility finally began taking shape well into Tommy Bowden's tenure, and the first head coach to actually occupy the structure was Dabo Swinney in 2009. West shares some vivid and colorful memories of the old days, including when the fired staff got together on the practice fields in the wee hours of the morning after their final game, a win over South Carolina. They built a fire and spent hours reminiscing and connecting for a final time. Defensive coordinator Reggie Herring was so angry about the firing that he threw his Clemson apparel into the fire and watched it burn. Soon thereafter Herring was retained by Tommy Bowden and wearing new Clemson gear. West spent the next year living in Clemson as Bowden ushered in a new era. "I was a total mess," he said. "I was lost."

Former longtime Clemson assistant coach Rick Stockstill joins the podcast to reflect on life after 18 years as Middle Tennessee State's head coach. Stockstill was fired in late November, and he says his main objective now is trying to find jobs for the staffers who worked for him. Stockstill is full of stories from working under the likes of Danny Ford, Tommy Bowden, Lou Holtz and Steve Spurrier. His reluctant decision to leave Clemson in 2003, for the offensive coordinator job at East Carolina, might have been the most important coaching departure in Clemson history: Tommy Bowden filled the vacancy by hiring Dabo Swinney, who'd been out of coaching for two years and was well on his way to being successful in commercial real estate. After a year at East Carolina, Stockstill left to work for Lou Holtz at South Carolina. He said coaching and recruiting for the Gamecocks was strange initially because he spent so many years competing against them. "When we were at Clemson I would throw the football with my son Brent, and I'd give him signals for which route to run," Stockstill said. The signal for a go route was Stockstill tapping his head, and the name of the play was "Gamecock Killer" in reference to Rod Gardner's legendary catch of Woody Dantzler's desperation pass in a 2000 victory over South Carolina. "When we went to South Carolina, Brent was asking me why. I told him this is part of the profession, and we'll have to come up with some new signals." Stockstill's first of two seasons in Columbia was 2004, which ended in the infamous brawl against the Gamecocks at Death Valley. He remembers standing on the South Carolina sideline before the game and watching Gamecock players run to the east end zone to greet Clemson as it ran down the hill. Stockstill turned to a South Carolina staffer and said: "These boys don't know what they just did." Clemson dominated the game and won 29-7 in Lou Holtz's last game as coach. Stockstill said he hopes join a college staff as an analyst.

Head on over to YouTube to watch the show, don't forget to subscribe! https://youtu.be/s28vMAbPIjs It's a Dear Andy Show, but first, we have some news coming out of the Monday press conferences. In no surprise to anyone, Alabama's head coach Nick Saban has elected to not announce his starting quarterback. What may come as a shock is that he isn't releasing a depth chart at all before the Crimson Tide's week 1 matchup against Middle Tennessee State. West Virginia has also decided not to announce their starting quarterback as they face the Nittany Lions of Penn State in Week 1. Following the trend, Indiana has elected not to announce their..... kicker. That's right, Tom Allen has decided to not name his starting kicker before their season opener against Ohio State and the Buckeyes (0:00-4:58) We head on over to Tallahassee where Andy meets up with Jared Verse to discuss his transition from TE to DE, how he managed to gain 40 pounds in 2020, and his expectations for himself and the Seminoles in 2023. (4:59-18:10) Before we get to your questions, the lines for Week 1 have been released. Does Vegas know something we don't? Andy takes a look at the lines for Florida-Utah, ECU-Michigan, UTSA-Houston, and LSU-Florida State (18:11-26:51) It's Dear Andy time and we answer some GREAT fan questions. Questions all across the board about Sam Hartman's debut performance at Notre Dame, the battle for SEC supremacy between Alabama and Georgia, and a potential repeat field of a previous College Football Playoff. (26:52-01:01:44) For Andy's Extra Point, a fan asks for a random ranking of the song "Ironic" to go from the least ironic line to the most ironic line in the song. Coach Chelsea speaks wih Coach Simmons as she takes the helm at the University of Memphis. We speak about her plans, her faith in God, Servant Leadership, and apply those principles to her assignment as Head Coach. Two-time NCAA National Champion and Tennessee native Alex Simmons was named the head coach of the Memphis Tiger women's basketball team on April 6, 2023 and became the 13th head coach in the program's history. Simmons comes to Memphis after five seasons at the helm of Gardner-Webb where she led the team to a 90-59 record including a 29-5 mark this past season. The Runnin' Bulldogs broke multiple program, school and Big South records with their 29 victories and a 21-game win streak that included a perfect 18-0 record in conference play. GWU captured the regular season and championship titles for the program's first trip to the Big Dance since the 2010-11 season. Simmons, who was named as the Big South Coach of the Year, saw four of her five starters earn All-Big South honors in 2022-23, while Jhesskya Williams became just the third player in Gardner-Webb history to surpass 2,000 career points, finishing as the program's second all-time leading scorer with 2,049 points. Simmons' basketball roots run deep to one of the most respected programs in the game. She played collegiately at the University of Tennessee under basketball Hall of Fame coach Pat Summitt from 2004-2009, helping the Lady Vols win back-to-back NCAA National Championships in 2007 and 2008. Simmons was a member of three Final Four squads (2005, 2007, 2008) and another Elite Eight team (2006) while serving as a team captain and was also the Lady Vols representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). During the 2021-22 season, Simmons steered the Dogs to an overall record of 11-13 and 10-7 in the Big South. Under Simmons, Alasia Smith was named the Big South Freshman of the Year after the five-time Freshman of the Week averaged 11.3 PPG, 8.3 RPG and led the conference with 4.0 offensive rebounds per game. Simmons led the Runnin' Bulldogs to an 18-11 overall record and 13-7 in Big South Conference play in 2019-20, finishing fifth in the league standings. GWU ended the season on a hot streak, winning four-straight games and seven of their last eight matchups before play was halted prior to the Big South tournament. Under Simmons, Carley Plentovich earned a handful of accolades during the 2019-20 season, including All-Big South honors, as well as a Big South Player of the Week award. She also became the program's 24th 1,000-point scorer, the first under Simmons, and was named to the Big South's All-Academic team. In her first season in Boiling Springs, Simmons led Gardner-Webb to a 16-15 record and 10-8 Big South mark in 2018-19 with a fifth-place finish. Two players - Plentovich and Williams – would earn All-Big South honors. Simmons took over the Runnin' Bulldogs in April 2018 after assistant coaching stints at Ole Miss (2013-2018) and Middle Tennessee State (2010-2013). She also served as a graduate assistant coach at Kansas (2009-2010). Prior to her time at Ole Miss, Simmons served as an assistant coach at Middle Tennessee State, helping the Blue Raiders to three NCAA Tournament appearances during her time on the bench. Her work with the team's post players produced an honorable-mention All-America selection and in the 2011-2012 season saw the Blue Raiders grab the most rebounds since 1983. Also a Street & Smith's All-America Honorable Mention selection in 2001 and 2002, Simmons helped the Golden Eaglettes to Tennessee State Championships in 2001, 2003 and 2004. She was a three-time All-State selection, four-time All-District choice and was named as the Mid-State Player of the Year in 2003. She graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2008 with a degree in exercise science. Simmons and her husband, Christian, have two daughters – Carsyn and Channing. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/chefranjohn/support
