In his return to In The Trenches, Karras talks about the season and the growth of the offensive line, including the loss of La'el Collins, Alex Cappa, and Jonha Williams to injury and the job Jackson Carman, Hakeem Adeniji, and Max Scharping did in their place and the overall performance of rookie Cordell Volson. Bill Romanowski was a polarizing player: if he was on your team, you loved him, if he wasn't, probably not so much. From an early age, Romo set goals and every time he achieved a goal, he set his sights higher. He won awards as both an athlete and a student during his college years at Boston College. He was drafted by the 49'ers and won Super Bowl rings his first two years in the league. From San Francisco, he was traded to the Eagles. The Broncos signed him in 1996 where he won two more Super Bowl Championships. After being shown the door in Denver, Romo was determined to stay in the AFC West to prove a point and finished his career with the Raiders. Over the course of 16 years in the NFL, he played 243 consecutive games and has plenty of stories about football and life. Retirement has been anything but boring as he's very involved in his Nutrition 53 and is the Director of Business Development for REV Social Network.
Sean Payton spends 90 minutes with George, Wardo and Sully discussing Super Bowl, Drew Brees, Bountygate, and coaching his 6th graders football team.
Football coach/analyst LeAlan Jones has an unique take on the Chicago Bears. He thinks they're making smart moves that will bring them a Super Bowl Championship. He explains why he believes that and why the "experts" are so critical of the Bears. A word or two or three about Ryan Poles & Justin Fields. By the way, the conversation took place before Sunday's game against Atlanta, which the Bears lost. Yet LeAlan remains optimistic.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
His three tenures with the Denver Broncos totaled 14 years and brought the city back to back Super Bowl Championships. Mike Shanahan's other 24 years of coaching had stops in Oklahoma, Eastern Illinois (D2 Championship), Northern Arizona, Minnesota, Florida, LA Raiders, San Francisco 49'ers (Super Bowl XXIX), and (then) Washington Redskins. In the college ranks, Mike moved up the ladder with ease. In the pros, he moved up through the years, however there were a few setbacks along the way with firings in LA, Denver and Washington. No matter how each stint ended, he gained perspective and learned at every stop in his career. Mike deservedly earned a spot in the Broncos Ring of Fame and should have a bust in Canton, Ohio. Hopefully someday.
On this week's installment of the Mushroom Society Series, Keith and co-hots Bob Wylie are joined by Dante Scarnecchia to discuss aspects of what was an incredibly successful career. His 34 tenure with the New England Patriots was the longest in the NFL. He was a part of 10 of the organization's 11 Super Bowl appearances. Coach Scarnecchia was a part of five Super Bowl Championships. In this episode the coaches discuss the keys to a successful career, working in an elite organization, and more. Shownotes: -The decision to become a football coach happened early -How coaching defensive backs helped development as a coach -Taking the defensive quality control job for Bill Parcells -Key to longevity in the profession -Advice to young coaches always looking for the next job -Staying physically fit -Keeping great players from leveling off -Takeaways from working in an elite organization -Advice to having a successful working relationship with Bill Belichick (or any strong head coach) -Most effective way to make adjustments between series -Developing a great relationship with your offensive coordinator Coach Scarnecchia's COOL Clinic Talk: https://bit.ly/3fHh6DH

This week I present another in my series, "The RIsing Stars of Franchising," as I speak with Ben Utecht, who enjoyed an exemplary career on the gridiron, as a starting tight end for the Bengals, and Colts. This culminated with a Super Bowl Championship in 2007, playing with Peyton Manning, on Tony Dungy's award winning Colts. Today Ben Utecht has brought his transferrable skills from the field and playbook, to the franchise game, as both a franchisor AND franchisee of Conquer Ninja Gyms. Ben has had success in many realms, including being awarded Tony Dungy's Uncommon Leader Award following in the footsteps of athletes like Peyton Manning. Ben Utecht, this week, on Franchise Today!
Ted Petersen was born and raised in Momence, IL. When he started playing football in the early 1970s at Momence High School, he did it just to feel like he was one of the guys. Petersen never imagined he would end up becoming All American in college, going pro, and winning two Super Bowl Championships. However, that came true in 1978 and 1979 when he was playing for the Pittsburg Steelers along with Terry Bradshaw and other future hall of fame players. This conversation give us a real perspective on what the NFL was like roughly 45 years ago and just how humble of a person Ted really is. After retiring from the NFL, Ted became a physical education teacher in Pennsylvania. Eventually, he returned to Kankakee County in 2008 and became the Athletic Director at Kankakee Community College. Now, Ted works for Van Drunen Farms in Momence. I truly enjoyed talking with you, Ted. Thank you for your time and all you do for our community! Much Love, Jake LaMore P.S. Homer & Tony debate whether a Packers defense that finishes tops in the NFL will in turn win the Super Bowl.
On the latest episode of the Rex Chapman Show with Josh Hopkins, the guys are joined by Pro Football Hall of Fame Running Back Eric Dickerson. There's so much Eric has accomplished both on and off the field, that gave him the inspiration for him to write "Watch My Smoke." Still living in Los Angeles, Eric is just one of the many Rams fans celebrating the Super Bowl Championship. 7:00 - Josh is losing his mind, sitting down with his two all-time idols: Rex Chapman and Eric Dickerson. You even get the tour of his childhood bedroom, covered in their posters. 9:00 - Josh shows off his poster collection, including Rex Chapman and Eric Dickerson 13:00 - Going back to Eric's childhood, he found out his identity not only on the football field, but he also found out he was adopted. How did those two moments in his life mold him into the man he would become? 15:00 - Eric remembers signing up for football, and in his first game he scored 6 Touchdowns. He was hooked on football ever since. 21:00 - It's his rookie season, and Eric has his "Welcome to the NFL Moment." Josh remembers watching one of the iconic Eric Dickerson touchdowns when he was 12 years old. 24:30 - As the Number 1 player in the country coming out of high school in 1979, his recruitment story is unlike anything you've ever heard before. He wanted to go to Oklahoma, but as a Texas boy, he decided to stay closer to home, ultimately going to SMU. 30:00 - How Eric Dickerson ended up at SMU, after pulling his commitment from Texas A&M (his mom convincing him to go to SMU) 33:00 - The famed gold Trans A&M, and how the story of that car followed Eric for the last 40 years. 38:00 - It took decades for SMU to finally welcome back Eric Dickerson and Craig James after the school received the death penalty. While it was great to be invited back, Eric still wonders why it took so long. 40:30 - Looking back on his own experience in college, Eric says Name Image and Likeness was a long time coming, and the student athletes deserve to be given some kind of compensation beyond the scholarship for what they put into their programs. 45:00 - The biggest impact NIL can provide for student athletes is giving them the means to take care of themselves and provide financial literacy. Eric and Rex both recall their first paycheck and wondering why they were losing money to taxes. 49:00 - Was going to the pros easy for Eric? He joined the Rams and immediately began setting rushing records that still haven't been broken. 51:00 - When Eric first recognized he was in the NFL, and what that felt like being in a professional football game. 58:00 - The NFL still has a number of great running backs, but Eric explains why no one will ever break his single-season rushing record. 1:01:00 - Coming off the Super Bowl Championship for the LA Rams, Eric is thrilled with how they've come together, and how important the title was for the city. Bottom line, he just wants his team to win. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Miami Dolphins Tales From The Deep Elandon Roberts arrived in Miami in 2020 with two Super Bowl Championships under his belt, a wealth of experience, and a reputation as a heavy hitting linebacker. Perhaps the most valuable asset the Port Arthur, Texas native has brought to the Dolphins locker room, however, has been his leadership. Host Andrea Kremer takes us back to 2002 when NFL Films Steve Sabol interviewed Tom Brady. The QB had just won the first of his seven Super Bowl Championships and discussed his start in high school football. Brady chose football over baseball and explained why he decided to attend Michigan University, which leads to a funny story about his first visit to Notre Dame. Steve moved onto Brady's Draft report and how it motivated him while improving in the NFL. Brady gives insight into the Tuck Rule game against the Raiders and how he kept the football from his first rushing TD. Now after the Super Bowl, Brady talks about his relationship with Drew Bledsoe and how much the two helped each other through the season. Steve wraps up ironically questioning Brady about the possibility of never playing in another Super Bowl. The Tales from the Vault podcast is part of the NFL Podcast Network. We all know defense wins championships, but offense draws viewers. It's fun to watch, and it changes the way the game is played. 2 teams come to mind when we talk game changing offenses, and the similarities in them is what made us want to do a deep dive. The Greatest Show on Turf, the nickname for the 1999-2001 St. Louis Rams were led by a dynamic duo of WRs drafted 5 years apart (Issac Bruce and Torry Holt), an amazing RB (Marshall Faulk), and a gun-slinger at QB in Kurt Warner. They also had a HOF level piece on the offensive line in Orlando Pace. Those pieces broke offensive records in their time, as well as collected 3 MVPs (in 3 Years), a Super Bowl Championship, and another Super Bowl appearance. The 2000s Colts had their own dynamic duo of WRs drafted 5 years apart (Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne), an amazing RB (Edgerrin James), and a gun-slinger at QB in Peyton Manning They also had a HOF level piece on the offensive line in Jeff Saturday. Those pieces broke offensive records in their time, as well as collected 4 MVPs (in 8 Years), a Super Bowl Championship, and another Super Bowl appearance. But who was better? It's hard to compare eras, especially because the rule change in the 2003 offseason but we break down some of the impact to the game they had, the successes they had, and which ones were our personal preference. Some Rams highlightsSome Colts highlights:Edge's 204 yard game (just watch at the 2:00 minute mark to see how shifty Edge was post-ACL)Marvin Harrison highlightsReggie Wayne highlightsLet us know your thoughts at innoutpodcast1@gmail.com or on Instagram @in_n_outpodcast and catch y'all next week!
