Join your host Hermene Hartman as she talks with Dion Dawson, CEO & founder of Project Dream Fridge , a group focused on distributing fresh food and water to the Inglewood community, for free. We are talking to Dion today because he is young, gifted, black and serving his community by solving problems for the betterment of the people in that community. Dion’s foundation has literally placed a fridge on Chicago's south side Englewood community (corner of Rancine & 57th street), and along with his fellow volunteers, fill it with fruits, vegetables and water on a daily basis. Dion describes the origins of Project Dream Fridge and how he was inspired by similar projects that operate in other communities. Dion explains how the initiative works on an honor basis, that everyone will respect others and only take what they need each day. Dion lays out why he chose to design the project around him having to physically be there everyday rather than simply leaving the fridge and relying on the generosity of others to help fill it. He talks about why it is so important for him to help out directly and personally interact with the people who are struggling in his community. Dion outlines what is meant by the term “food insecurity” and how it affects peoples lives throughout many black and brown communities. He states that food insecurity is related to many other issues including unemployment, drugs and of course the ongoing pandemic. For Dion, Project Dream Fridge is just the beginning of the conversation. He outlines several other initiatives he is involved with. Moving forward, Dion plans to open the Dream Centre of Englewood. A community centre complete with multiple donation fridges, work stations and other facilities to assist the people of Englewood to feel empowered and know they can do anything! We cover all this and more. Join us today to hear this inspiring story from this amazing and motivated young man.
There's a new book out, "Tales from the Sea of Thieves", that's presented as an in-universe journal from several hundred years ago. Mildewed and blood-splattered, it's as if you're holding a piece of the game world in your hands. Plus, not only does it expand and flesh out the lore of Sea of Thieves, but it also begins to tie it to the larger Donkey Kong Universe as well...

It's a new year! Let's stop looking ahead and instead turn the clocks back 20 years as we discuss the game that eventually became Banjo-Kazooie: The long-fabled Project Dream! Rare has finally divulged enough information about this oft-romanticized title, so sit back with us as we break it down and add our perspective.
Happy New Year! The first DreamPod of 2016 is here as Tom, Caleb, Gaz and Aaron reconvene to talk about the games they played and the gifts they received over the festive period. After the pleasantries have been dealt with, the team once again discuss Project Dream and the news that the initial publicity for the campaign was not handled by the main players involved. Tom then goes on to talk about the recently updated DreamConn wireless controller - DreamConn V3; and the embryonic Dreamcast Deluxe project gets a mention too. 2015 was a great year for the Dreamcast in terms of software releases and your hosts deliberate which of the myriad new games was their favourite over the last 12 months. As well as this, 2016 also looks set to be a great year for indie releases and the latter part of the episode deals with upcoming games and developments that every Dreamcast owner should be excited about.Support the show (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/dcjunkyard)
Gregg Mayles recently released a massive amount of information on the early days of Banjo-Kazooie. That is, everything between Project Dream and the version we've come to know and adore (and have sexy dreams about). In this episode, we discuss the saucy tidbits of Banjo's development we never knew before. Programming note: Chad's continuing to have issues with his microphone, so his audio becomes webcam about ten minutes in before reverting back near the end. We either need to get Chad a new microphone or we need to get a new Chad. Whichever is cheaper...
