In this special episode, Jethro Jones defends his doctoral dissertation on how school principals can use AI for innovation rather than just efficiency. The research challenges the common "save time" narrative around AI in education and introduces the concept of "cognitive equity" - using AI to expand capabilities and solve problems that weren't previously possible.Through a full-day workshop with 11 Wyoming principals, Jethro demonstrated that when professional development focuses on authentic problems rather than tools, leaders can create innovative solutions like student mental health check-in apps, digital citizenship games, and curiosity trackers. The study revealed three key barriers (time, training, and resources) and emphasized the importance of sustained, problem-focused professional development that allows for productive struggle. Often seen as the gold standard for societal resilience, Finland has many admirers. The Secretary General of its Security Committee, Petteri Korvala, describes Finland's approach. Many nations are exploring how to build societal resilience as part of a comprehensive approach to security. The Scandinavian countries are often seen as exemplars of best practice, with Finland arguably leading the pack. But delivering resilience through comprehensive security requires trust across all elements of society and a cultural shift as much as it needs the right structures and processes. In this episode, we hear from the Secretary General of Finland's Security Committee, Petteri Korvala, about how their comprehensive security system works. Petteri Korvala has over 30 years of experience in Finland's defence forces and internationally, including in the Ministry of Defence and in Finland's Permanent Representation to the European Union, as well as having served as a liaison officer in United States European Command.

LiteraturhinweiseBeems, Belle (2025), The Interaction between Enforcers of Competition Law, the DMA, and the GDPR - An Inquiry into the Coherence of Enforcement across Legal Domains, Kluwer Law International.

Historically Thinking: Conversations about historical knowledge and how we achieve it
In this episode of Historically Thinking, we begin not with a historian's voice, but with the voice of a seventeenth-century woman.Lady Frances Culpeper Berkeley—born in England, twice widowed, and married in 1670 to Sir William Berkeley, governor of Virginia—speaks from the midst of crisis. Jamestown has burned. Nathaniel Bacon's rebellion has fractured the colony's political order. Her husband has been recalled to England to answer charges before the Crown. Lady Berkeley, left behind, attempts to make sense of loyalty, loss, honor, and exile. That voice is brought to life by my second guest, Amy Stallings, a historian and historical interpreter who believes the past is best understood not only through documents, but through embodied experience. Together, we explore Bacon's Rebellion from an unfamiliar vantage point, the interior world of Lady Frances Berkeley, and the intellectual stakes of historical reenactment itself: what it reveals, what it risks, and what it makes newly visible.00:00 - Introduction00:28 - Lady Frances Culpeper Berkeley Introduces Herself00:58 - Writing to Her Husband in England02:55 - Sir William Berkeley's Accomplishments in Virginia04:23 - The Royal Commissioners and Personal Betrayal05:47 - Berkeley's Loyalty During the English Civil War07:17 - Berkeley's Resistance to Parliament08:15 - Berkeley's Return to Power and Jamestown's Glory09:39 - Nathaniel Bacon's Rebellion Begins11:08 - Bacon Surrounds the State House12:57 - Introducing Amy Stallings13:41 - Theater and History Intertwined14:27 - The Dissertation on Ballroom Politics21:40 - Dance as Political Resistance24:25 - English Country Dancing Before the Waltz28:53 - First Character: Susan Binks, Tobacco Bride28:53 - Learning History Through First-Person Interpretation39:14 - Developing Lady Berkeley's Character46:52 - Lady Berkeley's Isolation and Loss46:52 - Lady Berkeley's Inheritance and Legal Battles55:00 - The Challenges of Colonial Communication57:00 - Sewing Period Costumes61:51 - Conclusion
This series on Terrorism is wrapping up with the problem of state sponsored terrorism. This form of international terrorism is most clearly a method of warfare, with the state using terrorist organizations as deniable proxies in armed conflict. International law, however, does not recognize that form of terrorism as war, but as criminal acts subject only criminal jurisprudence. This situation does little to stop this war form or to protect those who should be protected under the laws and customs of war. Ihr seid bei „On the Way to New Work“ – heute mit Dr. Julia Freudenberg.

In this conversation, Dr. Lacy discusses the challenges faced by doctoral students, particularly focusing on the feelings of imposter syndrome and self-doubt. She emphasizes the importance of recognizing one's achievements and the mental barriers that prevent individuals from acknowledging their capabilities. Lacy encourages listeners to shift their mindset from fear of failure to celebrating their successes throughout their academic journey. Takeaways The core of why it's so hard and overwhelming is you have such deep-seated fear and disbelief. You keep mentally rehearsing all of the reasons why you're going to fail. You don't see that as proof of you knowing what you're doing. The fact that you made it to the end of the dissertation is significant. Many doctoral students do not make it to the end, which is proof of your resilience. Self-doubt can hinder your ability to recognize your achievements. It's important to shift your mindset from fear to confidence. Acknowledging your hard work is crucial for personal growth. You are the one who collected and analyzed the data. Recognizing your journey can empower you to embrace your identity as a doctor. In this conversation, Dr. Lacy discusses the challenges of imposter syndrome faced by academic writers, particularly those working on dissertations. She emphasizes the importance of recognizing one's own knowledge and capabilities, and how fear can hinder progress. Lacy advocates for making a firm decision to produce work as a way to combat these fears and encourages writers to develop effective strategies for their writing process. Takeaways You know more than enough to write a full draft. Imposter syndrome is rooted in fear and self-doubt. Reading and taking notes won't eliminate imposter syndrome. Making a decision to produce work is crucial. Confronting fears is necessary for progress. Imposter syndrome is a narrative we create for ourselves. Writing is a skill that can be honed over time. Focus on making progress rather than achieving perfection. Setting realistic goals can enhance writing productivity. Consistency in writing leads to successful dissertation completion. Summary In this deeply personal episode, I'm taking you inside my doctoral journey, and showing you how I'm transforming it into something far greater than a degree. As I work toward my Doctorate in Education, I'm not just writing a dissertation; I'm writing my next book in real time. I share how I'm using the same writing systems I teach my clients to structure my dissertation like a professional author, outline chapters with clarity, and stay disciplined even when life feels full. You'll hear how I'm bridging academic excellence with entrepreneurial purpose, using my research to build new programs, a certification track, and the foundation for my next published work. Whether you're a student, a thought leader, or someone balancing multiple callings, this episode will challenge you to think beyond your degree, beyond your title, and into how your current work can fuel your next level of impact. Key Takeaways Leverage What You're LearningYour dissertation or academic work can be more than a degree requirement — it can become a book, program, or revenue-generating asset. Repurpose With IntentionThink beyond completion. Every chapter, story, and insight can be reimagined to serve your audience and expand your brand. Write With Discipline, Not EmotionWaiting for motivation doesn't work. Set writing sprints, schedule your time, and show up — even when it's inconvenient. Keep Your Voice, Even in AcademiaAcademic writing is formal, but your ideas still need to flow and reflect your authentic voice and perspective. Pursue Purpose, Not PerfectionYour degree won't replace fulfillment or peace. True purpose comes from within — and it's what gives your work meaning beyond the title. Notable Quotes “I'm not just writing a dissertation — I'm writing my next book in real time.” “If I'm investing this much time, energy, and effort, there has to be an ROI that lasts beyond the degree.” “Clarity is a skill. Don't write to sound deep — write to be understood.” “You can't wait for motivation. You show up, get your mind in the game, and get it done.” “Your doctorate won't give you peace — purpose will.” “Think beyond the degree. Leverage what you're learning to build the next level of your legacy.” Join Us at Create Your Own Stage Live! Was tun?
