The VRChat worlds by DrMorro are truly incredible. They're vast landscapes made of surreal mash-ups of various architecture styles and symbols that feels like you're walking through a waking dream. His Organism Trilogy (Organism, Epilogue 1, and Epilogue 2) is a true masterpiece of VR worldbuilding. And his latest Ritual is one of the biggest and most impressive single worlds on VRChat that feels walking through a fever dream, and probably the closest thing to Meow Wolf's style of immersive art. And his Raindance Immersive award-winning Olympia was his truly first vast world, and they've been getting bigger and bigger and more impressive ever since. He's got a keen ear for sound design and a sound track that will help set the eerie mood of his sometimes unsettling and liminal worlds. In short, the experience of spending 4-5 hours going through one of DrMorro's worlds is a completely unique and singular experience, as he's in a class of his own when it comes to VRChat world building. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4AfYsmHQB8 I have long wanted to conduct an interview with DrMorro doing a comprehensive retrospective of his works, but he's an anonymous Russian artist who doesn't speak English. He's only done one other interview with Russian Del'Arte Magazine, but otherwise he's a pretty mysterious and cryptic figure. I managed to got ahold of him through a mutual friend, and he suggested that we do a "19th-century-style written correspondence" where I would send questions over text chat over the course of a week. He would use an AI translator to translate what I said into Russian, and then he would then translate his Russian response back into English. For this podcast, I used the open source Boson AI Higgs Audio with Russian actor Yul Brynner's voice to bring DrMorro's personality to life, but the full transcript of our edited chat is down below if you prefer to read it as I had experienced it. Can you go ahead and introduce yourself and what you do in the realm of VR? DrMorro: Hello! The name's DrMorro – or well, that's my alias, to be precise. That's the name I'm known by as the creator of all those strange worlds in VRChat. For now, that's my only real achievement in the VR sphere. Other than that, I'm a 2D and 3D artist, which is my main profession. Kent Bye: Awesome. Well, this is my first interview that I've done via text. Can you give a bit more context for why you prefer to do the interview in this way? DrMorro: Honestly, I'm a pretty closed-off person, and it's easier for me to write than to talk. It's just a character trait. Especially since I can't even imagine communicating through a voice translator. When I write, I can at least somehow control the translation. I don't know spoken English, but I manage fine in writing. So, no conspiracy theories. It's just how I'm used to communicating. Though it's strange because by nature, I'm a staunch introvert and I make worlds about total solitude. In ORGANISM, how many entities did you even find there besides the hat-wearing figure? And then suddenly, this popularity falls on me, and constant communication becomes the norm. Aaaahhh! So, the chance to stay put for a while? They’re loving it. Both performers are part of “Luzia,” Cirque’s stunning “waking dream of Mexico,” running at Atlantic Station from Nov. 6 to Jan. 25. That’s over 50 shows in one spot—an absolute luxury for these road warriors. “Luzia” is Aepli’s first Cirque show, and she’s living her childhood dream. On Sunday night, the Atlanta Braves’ first baseman snagged the Rawlings Gold Glove Award for the National League—his third overall. Olson beat out Bryce Harper and Spencer Steer for the honor, which was announced live on ESPN. He’s no stranger to this award, having won two Gold Gloves back in 2018 and 2019 with the Oakland A’s. This season? Olson was a rock. He played all 162 games, made just five errors in nearly 1,300 chances. Oh, and he’s now only the second Braves first baseman to win a Gold Glove, joining Freddie Freeman. Drafted straight out of high school by Oakland in 2012, Olson’s journey has been nothing short of remarkable. And now, he’s cementing his legacy with his hometown team. STORY 5: Lawrenceville may add more downtown parking near square If you’ve ever circled downtown Lawrenceville looking for a parking spot—especially during an event at the Lawrenceville Lawn—there might be some relief on the horizon. Maybe. The city just bought two properties on South Perry Street, near the AutoZone, for a combined $835,000. What’s the plan? Well, that’s still up in the air. Assistant City Manager Barry Mock hinted at a possible parking lot, saying the southwest side of downtown could use more spaces. But City Manager Chuck Warbington isn’t ruling out redevelopment either. Meanwhile, the city also snagged a truck repair shop on Reid Street for $300,000. It’s been there for decades, but officials want to “clean up” the area and hold the property for future redevelopment. As for the AutoZone? No plans to buy it—yet. Break 3: STORY 6: Gwinnett's Co-ops bracing for increased demand as SNAP benefits end Jackie Wells Smith, director of the Lilburn Co-op, says they’ve seen a steady uptick in families seeking help, especially seniors and working parents who rely on food stamps to make ends meet. “For these families, losing SNAP is like losing a paycheck,” she said. Other co-ops, like Southeast Gwinnett and North Gwinnett, are scrambling too. North Gwinnett is shifting to a twice-a-month food distribution model to manage demand. Gwinnett County is stepping in with $250,000 to help co-ops handle the surge, but the need is overwhelming. “We’re planning for a 25% increase,” Smith said, “but honestly, I think it’ll be more.” Donations of food, hygiene items, and money are desperately needed. Co-ops are asking the community to step up—because the families coming through their doors have no other options. STORY 7: Aurora Theatre ready to celebrate 30 years of Christmas Canteen Thanksgiving’s still weeks away, but the Aurora Theatre? They’re already decking the halls. Old Oak Greg is one of the less experimental ones, but that does not mean it should be boring. he usually tries to convey a sense of dreaminess, childlike wonder, and symbolism in his stories. Sometimes he employs narrative concepts that have never been used before, in which he likes to break the barrier between the reader and the stories. Sometimes they should twist your mind, or inspire you, or provoke you, but he wants you at all times to feel like the center of the universe. They should be a place where people can escape to and feel like everything is possible, even if for a while. Regarding his readerbase, it'd be nice to have one one day, but he's far more concerned with writing stories that he feels content with, readerbase or not. The story seems simple enough - a college student in need of a quiet place to study, rents an old house that that belonged to a judge whose cruelty was renowned. While his malignant portrait oversees the room, the rats come out to play... It may surprise you to learn that this tale was first published in a Christmas magazine in 1891. The Victorians, it seems, loved a good ghost story with their holiday cheer! It began in 2000 as a black metal solo project by Neige, then became a trio, but members Aegnor and Argoth left the band following the 2001 release of their first demo, leaving Neige as the sole member. Neige began incorporating elements of shoegaze and post-metal into the project's sound from 2005 onwards and is largely credited with pioneering the fusion genre known as blackgaze. In 2009, drummer Winterhalter from Les Discrets joined Alcest, after eight years with Neige as its sole full-time member.Since its creation, Alcest has released seven studio albums and a number of EPs and split releases.
