Kris and David are joined by BOTH Beau James (@KingofKingsport) and Robert O'Connor (@ghostofquinones) for a special holiday season episode where we discuss the week-and-a-half that was December 11-21, 1989.We start off with the NWA, talking about Starrcade '89, a.k.a. FUTURE SHOCK, as we have Dave Meltzer's report from watching on TV as well as Steve Beverly's from being there live at the Omni. We talk about the IRON MAN round robin tournaments and how damn silly it was with how this show could've been so much better without them. We also run down all the other major happenings going on in the NWA as well.O'Connor waxes poetic about his lovely Canada in the International section as we have a LONG TV taping for the WFWA in Winnipeg plus the end of Stampede Wrestling as we knew it and why all of that happened. Then we come back to the U.S.A. to talk about the Indie scene, where we go deep into Eddie Gilbert & Paul E. Dangerously's CONSORTIUM of wrestling promotions that was allegedly in the mix, specifically Beau laying out how it only makes sense as an almost master plan to get Eddie fired from the NWA. We also hear from the Master of Pain and Soultaker in Memphis, trade stories about Randall Brown and his "kidnapping,” look back at Joe Pedicino proposing to Boni Blackstone, and a whole lot more.We close with the WWF, where they tape NO HOLDS BARRED: THE MATCH for a NO HOLDS BARRED CHRISTMAS, the tag titles changing hands at a TV taping, Macho King, Sherri, and Zeus on the Brother Love Show, and much more.We hope you enjoy this show, as when you have both Beau and O'Connor together, it's an epic one.Timestamps:0:00:00 NWA/WCW2:29:10 Classic Commercial Break2:33:05 Halftime2:39:29 Int'l: NJPW, WFWA, Stampede, EMLL, Arena Naucalpan, UWA, & WWA3:36:37 Other USA: ICW, Bam Bam Bigelow, WWA, Tully Blanchard, Randall Brown, Joe Pedicino/Boni Blackstone, PWF, The Consortium, CWA/Memphis, USWA, NAWA (TX), AWA, PWA, LPWA, WIN (CA), HHW, & Portland5:53:09 WWF6:34:31 Patreon Preview: The bait and switch that led to the dwarf dressed up as Bret Hart was so much worse than you remember it beingTo support the show and get access to exclusive rewards like special members-only monthly themed shows, go to our Patreon page at Patreon.com/BetweenTheSheets and become an ongoing Patron. Episode Summary: Our guest today is a Chief Referral Ninja Master, who helps others grow their business using referrals. Joining us is Stacey Brown Randall, a coaching consultant, award-winning author, and speaker. Stacey is the podcast host of Roadmap to Grow Your Business, a podcast offering more insights into growing your business through referral. In this episode, join Stacey and me to learn new tactics to help grow your business and the best ways to generate referrals without asking. We also discuss the importance of an organized database and the best practices to re-engage potential leads! Top Takeaways: Stacey Brown Randall's Advice for New Agents “I would tell a new agent that is just getting started – your relationships are going to serve you, feed you, and pick you up when things go sideways, as they have been known to do more now than ever.” “You have to take time making sure when you are developing these relationships, you are coming at it from a place not trying to sell them a home or get a referral… but ultimately at the end of the day, you're looking to help them.” “The truth is that a database is made up of referral sources, clients, current clients, previous clients, and strategic partners. There are just so many different categorizations, and if you don't start with something, it can get really hard to get back.” – Stacey Brown Randall [17:50] “I think that the truth is, if I'm referred to someone, I am less inclined to check them out online, and I'm more inclined to take the recommendation of my friend if I truly trust my friend. But the reviews and testimonials build your credibility for every other type of prospect or lead you're going to have. If I do go check you out after being referred and I see other people who love working with you, it only solidifies my decision.” – Stacey Brown Randall [19:47] Episode Highlights: [00:19] Intro [00:45] Meet Stacey Brown Randall – Referral Ninja Expert [01:49] Living in the Carolinas [02:27] Attending the University of South Carolina [04:32] Dreams of Being a Broadcast Journalist [06:58] Weaving the Way to Business Consulting [12:59] Best Ways to Help Grow Your Business [15:13] The Importance of Taking Care of Your Database [18:19] Verified Reviews in Referral Strategies [21:06] Setting the Expectation for Reviews [22:27] Tips to Reconnecting a Neglected Database [27:53] Referral Seed Example [32:17] Stacey's Advice for New Agents [33:42] Connect with Stacey [34:59] Closing Thoughts [35:13] Outro Episode Notes: Today, joining us is Stacey Brown Randall, Chief Referral Ninja Master, helping business owners achieve their referral goals. Traci Bliss and Randall Brown are co-authors of the book "Evergreen Cemetery of Santa Cruz". Created in 1858, the Evergreen Cemetery provided a final resting place for a multitude of Santa Cruz’s adventurers, entrepreneurs and artists. The land was a gift from the Imus family, who’d narrowly escaped the fate of the Donner Party more than a decade earlier and had already buried two of their own. Alongside these pioneers, the community buried many other notables, including London Nelson, an emancipated slave turned farmer who left his land to the city schools, and journalist Belle Dormer, who covered a visit by President Benjamin Harrison and the women’s suffrage movement.

On today's show, we are honored to welcome Vietnam Veteran Randall Brown. Randall served in Vietnam as a registered mail courier, and flew all over Vietnam multiple times weekly in a C7a Army Caribou. Often these missions were flown in the flight path of the planes responsible for dispersing Agent Orange and other herbicides over the jungle canopy. Randall recalls the smell of the chemicals in the cabin of his plane, but had no idea how they would impact the rest of his life. He served for 13 months, from January 1967 until after the TET Offensive in February, 1968.In July 1969, Randall was diagnosed with Diabetes, and for the next 10 years, fought with the VA for treatment. Then in 1979, he was finally treated for Diabetes...first with pills, then as the disease progressed, with insulin injections. In 2003, he was classified as totally disabled by the VA. He has had major cancer surgeries, including his hips, knees, shoulder, eyes, and loss of his stomach. Last year, he was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. All of these conditions have a direct connection to Agent Orange. After his military service, Randall was on a team which opened the first 150 Red Lobster Restaurants in America. He owned his own business for 22 years. He is now retired, and devotes his time and energy to helping Vietnam Vets affected by Agent Orange. He founded 'Vietnam Veterans with Diabetes', and in connection with Dr. Steven Edelman, founder of 'Taking Control Of Your Diabetes' (TCOYD) Randall assists Vietnam Veterans in finding resources and connections to help with the many complications caused by the exposure to these chemicals. Randall and his wife, Rita (high school sweethearts) have been married 49 years. They have 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson, who is 9 years old. In spite of the many challenges Randall has faced over the years, he manages to keep a positive attitude and a sense of humor. Listen and enjoy the show! www.VVWD.org -Vietnam Veterans with Diabetes-
