But no, “I don't skip freaky friday.” I hadn't yet, and so my streak was valid, but I felt like shit, and despite my sponsorship I didn't feel I had any interest in DJing at all. The apertment was a mess, and though I'd spent the day before for hours cleaning in all the crevices the cat found that I hadn't, it still wasn't perfect— then, why would I try to make it perfect on the brink of eviction with the dread and depression that came with the noise? I wanted to fucking die, and the long hours not spent sorting through my hard drives were instead spent watching Saturday night live and funneling popped corn into my mouth, because indeed— I was actually, finally, chrnically depressed. It could be written off as some coincidence or extreme city noise, but I knew in my heart it was instead asassination, the apartment was a trap and I'd been set up to be weakened enough to eventually either kill myself, or back to homelessness to die. The least thing I was interested in was music, and apparently, though I'd had thousands of dollars somewhere in unclaimed royalties , I couldn't seem to find my EIN— the business tax ID I needed to file papers, because I didn't use it often enough; I didn't file taxes, because I wasn't making money. (At least, I'd thought I hadn't.) I couldn't even remember which subway stop was the correct one; and I knew with this I must have been coming to the end of my time in New York; everything seemed strange and faraway, as if I were in a dream. Jeremie met Terry where all deep, life-altering connections begin: half-naked in a sauna, trying not to die of heat stroke. What started as a sweaty convo about testosterone turned into one of the most jaw-dropping pain stories we've ever heard. Terry's been battling chronic pain since the age of nine thanks to a rare hip disease that left his femur more hammerhead shark than ball-and-socket. He's survived countless surgeries, dealt with decades of ignorance around pain management, and got hit by a car after finally getting relief from his first hip replacement. Oh yeah—he's also the President of the Chronic Pain Association of Canada. This episode is for anyone who's ever been told they're “too young” for real pain, who's had their suffering questioned, or who just wants to hear a badass 64-year-old tell it like it is—with a body that creaks louder than a haunted house and a sense of humour sharper than a surgical scalpel.Follow Sickboy on Instagram, TikTok and Discord!

In this episode of After Reality, I dive into the explosive controversy surrounding Mel Owens, the newly announced Golden Bachelor. To set the stage, I share a clip from Mel's recent podcast interview—originally brought to light by my friend and go-to scoop expert, Reality Steve.Mel's remarks have caused quite a stir. He openly stated his preference for women aged 45 to 60 and shockingly admitted to the show's executive producer that “if there's 60 or over, I'm cutting them” (his words, not mine!). He even referred to it as an “NFL term.” If that wasn't enough, he expressed a desire to “stay away from artificial hips and wigs” and emphasized how important it was for a partner to have a fit “profile” to match his own active lifestyle.Steve joins me in the hot seat for his take on this unfolding drama. He breaks down the backlash sparked by Mel's comments and discusses how a clip from Claire and Emma's Love to See It podcast quickly went viral. Steve also highlights the tricky spot ABC is now in—casting women over 60 would contradict Mel's stated preferences, while casting younger women could undermine the entire premise of The Golden Bachelor.I also had to call in a very special guest for his perspective: my dad, Papa Robertson. Having found love again after 39 years of marriage, his insight is as personal as it gets. Papa Robertson didn't hold back, calling Mel “a bit tarnished” and questioning whether The Golden Bachelor is the right platform for him. This episode takes a hard look at Mel Owens' comments, their implications for the Golden Bachelor franchise, and whether ABC should consider recasting its lead. Join me for a juicy discussion, a fast hot take from Reality Steve, and my dad's relatable wisdom as we unpack this developing story! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

The Tragically Hip Top Forty Countdown: Song 18 — Claire from Ann ArborHey, it's jD. And welcome to the wide open middle of the countdown — that beautiful, feral terrain where deep cuts go to become legends and personal faves start to collide with consensus picks. This week on The Tragically Hip Top Forty Countdown, I'm joined by one of our most thoughtful and eloquent membersHIPers: Claire from Ann Arbor. We talk about discovering The Hip as a millennial from the U.S., falling hard thanks to Hockey Night in Canada, and how a steady diet of CBC and her dad's hockey tapes led her straight to 50 Mission Cap. (That's right — before she even knew the song, she knew the legend of Bill Barilko. That's parenting done right.)But what really makes this one hit different? Claire's lived experience as a disabled fan navigating concerts, fandom, and feeling safe in the crowd. Her reflections on inclusivity, identity, and finding community through The Hip are honest, funny, moving, and — in true TTHTop40 fashion — a little nerdy in the best possible way. We're not just counting down songs here. We're collecting stories. Claire's is one you'll be glad you heard.
He built the stars before they were famous. From Shakira to The Weeknd, John Mayer to Bruno Mars, Charlie Walk has shaped music history behind the scenes—crafting hits, building brands, and exposing the myths of overnight success. In this episode, he breaks down the truth behind the making of “Hips Don't Lie,” what really separates stars from viral moments, and how today's artists are getting it all wrong. Whether you're an aspiring musician, entrepreneur, or just love a good industry bombshell—this one's for you.
