Rick Osmon, born in Indiana in 1953. In 1983 he earned an Associates of Science in Laser and Electro-Optics Technology. He worked high tech lasers, night vision, and advanced optics for defense corporations and government for about 25 years, learning new things during the development of LIDAR imaging, digital image analysis, and hyper-spectral analysis. All that time Rick also maintained an interest in “Ancient Mysteries”, a hold-over from the hundreds of lithic artifacts found on the family farm and a life long interest in local history. Now Rick is applying what he learned in the high tech fields to try to solve some of the ancient mysteries. Rick's current research uses satellite imagery, LIDAR analysis, hydrology studies, magnetometry, and many other clues to find or identify ancient structures that are pretty much hidden to more traditional detection techniques. He also uses terrain analysis techniques to assess line-of-sight capability across the landscape features, either natural or artificial, that would enable long distance communications using ancient materials and technologies. These results are compared to the analogous system used in the Old World contemporaneously. Rick writes a regular feature for Ancient American Magazine entitled “Ancient Fortresses of the Ohio Valley”. In it, he has written about both accepted archeology and counter culture traditions. This has even gone to the point of “historical cabals” to hide certain history. His first book is The Graves of the Golden Bear; Ancient Fortresses and Monuments of the Ohio Valley. On this episode of Expanded Perspectives we discuss the recently captured Chupacabra, UFO sightings over Canada, Gigantic Stone Wall found in Siberia, Russia and we speak with Rick Osmon about Romans in America prior to Christopher Columbus. Rick Osmon was selected for the United States Air Force Academy right out of high school. He later attended Vincennes University and earned an Associates of Science in Laser and Electro-Optics Technology. He worked for defense contractors a number of years and then took a job with the US Navy as a civilian with an engineering support field activity, specializing in radar, night vision, and laser equipment for surveillance and munitions guidance. Most of this work was in direct support of Special Operations forces equipment acquisitions. In that capacity, Rick also became familiar with video-teleconferencing technology. But all those years, Rick was also reading everything he could find about the weird and unusual, history, archeology, paleontology, geography, cartography, cryptozoology, cryptography, and hollow earth theory. After leaving government employment in early 2005, Rick began this hunt for hidden knowledge full time. He also began blogging, researching, and writing, and, in early 2007, started an internet radio show entitled "The Oopa Loopa Cafe". In 2008, he began pestering his long time research buddy, Dennis Crenshaw, to start another internet show about the various mysteries. Dennis chose the title "Unraveling the Secrets". At the beginning of 2010, those 2 shows became part of an affiliation network with other show hosts to form Paranormal Soup Network. By the end of 2010, the endeavor was re-branded and renamed the Soup Media Network. Now Rick is becoming well known on the conference circuit and is writing more than blogs. His first book, The Graves of the Golden Bear; Ancient Monuments and Fortresses of the Ohio Valley released in October 2011. Rick Osmon remembers Sputnik firsthand. He also remembers watching Frank Edwards deliver the nightly news live. And that is what started "Oz" down the path of researching UFO's and many other paranormal phenomena and, especially, evidence of pre-Columbian contact with the Americas. Thus was born the Oopa Loopa Cafe, now in it's fourth year on Blog Talk Radio and about to expand to peoplestvnetwork.com in late June of this year. Then, in Junuary of 2009 Rick partnered with Dennis Crenshaw to produce and co-host Unraveling the Secrets on Blog Talk Radio, which began simulcasting on peoplestvnetwork in January of this year. BTR recently reported that Unraveling the Secrets was among the top 200 shows in popularity of the more than 12,000 shows on BTR in 2009. Rick attended the US Air Force Academy after high school and, following his stint in the Air Force, earned an Associates of Science degree in 1983 in Laser and Electro-Optics Technology which he applied in the "military-industrial complex", both in industry and in civilian employment for the US Navy. Most of his navy career was supporting Special Operations programs and projects that required high security clearances. After leaving government payroll in 2004, Rick renewed his paranormal and archeological research in earnest and hasn't slowed. In fact, the pace of his research is increasing daily.
