Decision-making is a crucial skill to be an effective leader. Decisions that are well-crafted help organisations move towards goals and best outcomes. In this episode of the Business Chat Podcast, I welcome back my first podcast guest, Rob Hartnett. He is the Vice President of Growth for APAC for NeuroLeadership Institute. Rob talks about what affects decision-making and how to make efficient and effective decisions. We have to remember that decision-making is dependent on our habits, beliefs, opinions, and experiences. These aspects unintentionally create our biases, which can either be a good thing or a bad thing. In Rob's discussion of the SEEDS Model, he talks about the five major groups of biases that affect how we form decisions. Knowing our biases makes us mindful of our thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and actions, moreover, we become intentional with the results we want. An effective leader knows how to evaluate situations and assess whether our bias is serving us or hindering us from reaching the best decision for our organisations. What do you think when you see the title of a book being "It's All Possible - How to lead an epic life and unleash the high performance hero within you?" I'm a big believer in the positive role of optimism, hope and positive emotions AND I'm kind of a skeptic by nature. Well Rob Hartnett, set me straight...he's no skeptic and he does not believe in being overly optimistic. Rob has been studying successful people for decades and now he's sharing his secrets. Join us when we talk about being realistically optimistic, when you are really in control and five questions Rob asks himself just about every day.
Many business owners feel – particularly when they start out – that they’re out of their depth, they don’t have what it takes and they’re not worthy. It’s what’s known as ‘imposter syndrome’. It can be hard to shake the self-criticism and belittling belief that accompanies people as they try to build their business. In this episode, we tackle the imposter within us and how not to let self-doubt undermine our success.
