It's an odd thing to say this but Congrats for Punishing Yourself Punishing yourself is an opportunity to be the parent to yourself. And you're actually thinking that it's a good thing to punish yourself. It is not a good thing to punish yourself. It's a good thing to reward yourself for things. And just because you got punished as a kid for something doesn't mean that you get punished. And you should punish yourself as an adult. Give yourself some grace. Today's word is grace. That grace of opportunity, that grace of the event, that grace of the mistake, that grace of the moment, that grace of breathing, that grace of self-forgiveness, that grace of the opportunity to reset and reframe this entire thing for the rest of your life. This is why you're here. Congratulations, you made it here. And now you get to recalibrate who you are, how you are, how you behave, how you talk to yourself. If you talk to yourself in a negative way, that's a self-punishment. That is going to self perpetuate and continue to cycle and spiral into much more negativity in your physical body, negativity in your physical body because you're punishing yourself. It is a self-harm thing negativity in your environment because you are attracting that, bringing that to you, negativity in your communications. People are gonna feel it and they're gonna get defensive in, in all places in your life. And so if you have any comments on this, make sure you comment and share and like, and, and you know, subscribe. And really that form of grace is, is more soft and it's non berating. You get to have that grace of making a mistake and getting to the other side of it because you made a mistake. You're going to get to the other side of it. The punishment is just trying to keep you in the problem. And as I always say, most people meditate on the problem. Punishment and a self-punishment is meditating on the problem. And so my encouragement is meditate on the solution, on the grace. If you were to sit and meditate for one or two minutes on grace, you would be so amazed at how much different you feel. Hey, everyone, Sheevaun here and I'm driving for your success. And today's topic is breath, breath, breath, breath. You're holding your breath right now. I bet you're holding your breath right now. I bet every time you get stressed, every time you are worried, anxious, you are working on something intensely, you are holding your breath. How do I know this? Because when I first started sharing this work, after I'd helped several companies get built and sold, I shared it at a couple local colleges and I shared it at some giant local businesses here in Orange County, California. And I took a poll every time I reteach this class. And every single time everybody was holding their breath and everybody was holding their breath a lot more than they needed to. And you are holding your breath more than you need to. You are holding your breath so that you're only breathing to the top 5% of your lung capacity. You have this giant lung capacity That you can bring oxygen into your system. And, and I was reading some statistics the other day that stated that one of the very ways that people actually lose weight is through their breath. Like think about it, that is ridiculous. But that makes so much sense. You're doing more physical activity. You are going to be breathing and exhaling your garbage energy, your garbage toxic, long energy, and that's going to help you release weight. You are exhaling and inhaling more thoroughly. And so no wonder you're going to lose weight through your breath. But one of the ways is to really allow yourself to fully breathe. We actually don't breathe for success. We actually deprive our lungs, our entire physiology of breath, of oxygen. The thing that our business needs the most is oxygen. We deprive it of that because we're depriving ourselves of that. And the fascinating thing about this behavior of holding our breaths often comes from something when we were a child that maybe happened that got us to hold our breath. I remember the first time I consciously held my breath and I was watching some scary movie. It was about mushroom people, and the mushroom people were coming to get me. And I remember holding my breath for a long time and I let go. And I remember thinking, oh yeah, that's scary. And so anytime we're scared, we're going to hold our breath. And so life cannot be that scary. Success and business and whatever you're doing cannot be that scary, so scary that you are holding your breath, because the more you hold your breath, the less you're bringing low and oxygen into your whole being, the less you're able to expand. Did you notice that time can actually expand when you breathe And you hold at the top and you exhale and breathe and hold at the bottom time actually can start working in your favor. And holding your breath is going to actually speed time up or perceptions of it. Anyway, so I wrote a whole book on this, the Power of Breath. I wrote a whole other book on it. Learned to meditate in two minutes for the lazy grizz, and time deficient. And the thing about breath is it is the thing that will help you thrive and succeed, getting your health back, getting your clarity back, getting your creativity back. Hey, everyone, Sheevaun here driving for your success. And I wanna talk a little bit about the yin and the yang of success and business and operations and soul and spirit and, and being in the stratosphere of energy and being grounded because it is a fine, fine line. And when you have a business, it's really easy to be in the yang, to be in the tents, to be in the push, to be in the drive, and to be in the achieve and not wanna miss one opportunity because there's so many that are gonna come. And, uh, that's what a client of mine has said recently. And uh, he said that, I don't wanna miss anything. So many cool things have been happening since we've been doing all this work yet. Uh, the challenge is to stay in the y for a moment and get back into the yin. 'cause if you don't have enough blend of the yin, the love, the heart, this heart, this heart, then you end up pushing opportunities away. You end up actually having kind of like sand in the gears of your marketing. That's kind of what happens. And it's a really fascinating thing if you're not paying attention to this too much because things will start breaking. So, so you can step back a little so you can learn to breathe a bit so that you can learn to allow things to expand. Because if you continuously and consistently push, push, push without the yin, you think about the push, push, push like the engine and you forgot to put gas or oil in the car. I did that one time when I was, when I had my first car. And it was so funny because the car just stopped and I was in the middle of the night. I was driving home from college and it was stuck. I was stuck. And, and, you know, payphones then and uh, ended up having to walk home. And funny thing I said to my dad, I was like, I didn't know. You didn't tell me that I needed to put gas or oil. I mean, seriously, he never told me that. They just told me how to drive. So sounds like a blonde moment, doesn't it? But, uh, the, the yin and the yang is about you need both. You need the push, you need the engine, you need the stuff that goes in the engine. And if you think about yin and love and heart and kindness and generosity and contribution, if you think about those, those are the yin. If you think about breath and you pause at the top and you exhale, if you think about breath, That's yin. That's actually not y unless you're gonna do some sort of karate breath or you're gonna do some aikido breath. Those are unique, specific fighting breaths. Uh, but still breath is a yin kind of thing. It gets you to breathe into your heart, into the depths of your lungs. And so young is about, it's not as about creation, it's about push and hard and harsh. So I get that you're getting what I'm talking about. And so consider where you are in your process and consider that maybe you are being too forced and pushed too much y in your business. Uh, 'cause yen is the thing that kind of gets the air under the wings that gets things to soar and gets things to magically occur. I always say that when I lived in the South for a very tiny amount of time that it was, uh, it was like love was encased in everything, even if they were being very forceful and very intense. Then he walked away from it all. Why? Because he realized money won't fix a broken heart, and scaling your business without healing first might actually be making things worse. In this conversation, Justin challenges everything we've been taught about success, leadership, and what actually matters for business owners and entrepreneurs. Key Learning Insights The Word "Business" Literally Means Anxiety The etymology of common business words reveals uncomfortable truths. "Business" comes from the Latin "bisignus" meaning anxiety. When you scale your business, you're scaling your anxiety. Understanding this fundamental construct can shift how you approach growth. Money Beyond Basic Needs Doesn't Increase Happiness Once your basics are covered (food, shelter, safety), additional income doesn't change your happiness or fulfillment. Justin has experienced years of significant income and realized it meant nothing to his actual well-being. This liberates entrepreneurs to stop chasing money as the answer to internal problems. Parents Talk AT Their Children Instead of WITH Them The breakdown in family communication mirrors the breakdown in business leadership. When parents (and leaders) don't listen with presence and eye contact, children disconnect from their feelings and learn to hide their authentic selves. Love for children is spelled T-I-M-E: presence and connection. Your Heart Is More Powerful Than Your Brain Entrepreneurs are conditioned to live in their heads, overthinking everything. But the heart knows what the brain cannot access. True innovation and leadership come from feeling leading with thinking supporting, not the reverse. When you lead from your heart instead of your anxiety, everything changes. Breaking Free From Social Conditioning Is Lonely But Necessary "For a select few, there is a determination to seek liberation from social hypnosis." Once you see that the world is scaling anxiety and things that don't make people happy, you can't unsee it. This awareness is isolating, but it's also the only path to genuine change and higher consciousness. Why This Conversation Matters This conversation matters because most business owners are building companies while their hearts are broken. They're scaling anxiety instead of scaling purpose. They're passing their unhealed trauma to their teams, their families, and the next generation. Justin's willingness to talk openly about his journey through the dark night of the soul, his divorce, the dissolution of companies, and his commitment to healing provides permission for other leaders to ask the hard question: "What am I actually building, and who am I becoming in the process?" Without this conversation, business owners continue the cycle of external achievement masking internal emptiness. Money And Fulfillment Insights Money is energy, not the answer. Justin has made significant money and lived a successful lifestyle. His conclusion after years of pursuit: material gains don't solve internal problems. The irony is that many entrepreneurs chase money specifically to heal something inside themselves or prove their worth. But you can't buy your way out of a broken heart. Once your basic needs are met, the pursuit of more money becomes a mask for deeper issues. Business owners need to ask themselves: "Am I chasing money to solve an internal problem money can never touch?" This reframing liberates entrepreneurs to build companies from authentic purpose rather than fear and lack. That dawned on me the other day. I was thinking about how so many people stretch but then have something happen, and they shrink back. They'll go for it, and then they'll shrink back. They'll go for it again, and then they'll shrink back. An epic life is big. It's bold. It's audacious. And to go for something audacious is often stepping outside your comfort zone. It's often the complete opposite of what your little brain in the back is saying is safe. That voice wants to stay comfortable. It wants ease and instant flow. But the epic life? The epic life is scary. I had forgotten about that until I was interacting with a friend from a long time ago. He reminded me that he'd go for something, then something would happen, and he'd shrink back for a long time. Then he'd go for something again, and he'd shrink back. Each time, it got smaller and smaller. On the outside, he was upbeat and positive, yet all of the negative Neds and Nellies in his head were stopping him from reaching for more epicness. And I can appreciate that. I mean, I work on this every day so that I can be available to the people who are ready for their epic life—people who are ready for epic health, epic energy in their mind, their body, their emotional life, their relational life, their financial life. It takes quite a bit to go for that big, bold, golden ball out there. We wonder: Do we deserve it? Do we have what it takes? Is it going to crush us? Is it going to mean we have to leave everything we know? In my world, and in how I've taught over the past 20 years, it doesn't mean you have to leave everything. It does mean you're going to have to do some things internally. You're going to have to make bigger choices—new choices. More audacious choices. Audacious doesn't have to mean anything other than the small next step. But oftentimes, people get caught up in not taking even that. Not enough time, not enough money, too many other things going on. Yet your soul is always nudging you to go for more epicness. Your personality and your history keep holding you back. So where are you holding yourself back from being just a little more epic? Where are you not striving for something just outside of your reach? Where are you thinking smaller than you know you can? You can feel it when you're thinking smaller than you should or than you're capable of. Gosh, I've done that so many times. And I help people through that every week with my one-to-one clients. The thing about going for epic is that you're going to have to do something different. Choose a different idea, a different path, a different way of thinking, and definitely a different energy.
