Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned and todays tale is a great example of just that. Young and Successful, Ryan Poston had a relationship with a girl who REALLLY wanted to be together for ever. In this week's episode, we discuss the “Nose Job Murder” which occurred in northern Kentucky. Six bullets were fired into 29-year-old up-and-coming attorney Ryan Poston. There was no question at all about who fired the gun; however, there were a lot of other questions about the situation! This is a very violent story with lots of trigger warnings about mental health, possible domestic violence, etc.
In this episode, we will dive into the story of a very turbulent relationship between Shayna, a 19 year old college student and her 28 year old lawyer boyfriend. This story does not have a happy ending, and Ryan would end up dead. But what happened just 18 months after the two met that would lead to such a gruesome ending? Find out in this episode.

Linda Ronstadt sang "Love is a rose, but you better not pick it--only grows when it's on the vine." It's a song about how love only flourishes when tended to, when you don't pick and choose which parts of the whole to love. When you love the roots and thorns and leaves as much as the flower. For some, though, love is less like a rose and more like a burdock. Y'know? Those thorny little buggers that stick to your clothes? They stick to you and never let you go, even when you've picked them off the fabric and tried to throw them out. For them, love isn't something that you give up easily. For them, it can be deadly. Join us for the story of Ryan Poston, whose on-again/off-again romance with a beautiful grad student named Shayna Hubers turned into a nightmare of stalking, harassment, and murder. On October 12, 2012 a 911 operator for Campbell County, Ohio received a frantic call from a woman who said she had killed her boyfriend in self-defense. She reported that she had shot him with a loaded gun that was already in the house, and she was absolutely sure he was dead. Amor ou obsessão? Quando Ryan tentou terminar com Shayna pela quinta ou sexta vez, ela decidiu que ele não ficaria com mais ninguém.
Relationships aren't always healthy and fun. Sometimes, two people who should stay far far away from each other start dating, and it usually ends in tears and misery. However, in this episode, it ends in tragedy. Shayna Hubers and Ryan Poston had a toxic, unhealthy relationship that was on again, off again. Shayna was obsessive and stalker-ish, and Ryan was abusive and manipulative. However, their relationship didn't end in a bad breakup. It ended with Shayna shooting Ryan six times in what she claimed to be self defense. In this week's episode, Zoey tells both sides of the story and together, Robin and Zoey try to figure out if Shayna was a woman at the end of her rope who freed herself from her abuser, or if she killed the man she couldn't have in cold blood. Messy. But first, Robin takes us back to Brenau University from the last installment of the 2021 College-palooza. Robin was able to have a phone interview with a student who actually attended the college and she told her story, which we mentioned in the original episode but did NOT do it justice. To those who didn't know them, Ryan Poston and Shayna Hubers seemed like one of those couples you love to hate on social media. He was a handsome 29-year-old Cincinnati attorney. She was beautiful, young, and a gifted student. Their romance began like a tale as old as time when he added her on Facebook after stumbling across her bikini spring break pictures and slid into her DM's. Soon, they began their seemingly storied romance. But it ended in a hail of gunfire nearly 18 months later, on October 12, 2012, when Shayna shot and killed Ryan at his apartment in the Cincinnati suburb of Highland Heights, Kentucky.SOURCEShttps://www.lex18.com/news/covering-kentucky/2018/10/18/judge-sentences-shayna-hubers-to-life-in-prison/https://law.justia.com/cases/kentucky/supreme-court/2020/2018-sc-0667-mr.htmlSmiling in her mugshot: http://kool.corrections.ky.gov/KOOL/Details/367745Killer Cases: Murder in the Kentucky Hills; December 17, 2020; A&Ehttps://www.morelaw.com/verdicts/case.asp?n=&s=KY&d=77767
Shayna Hubers called 911 on October 12, 2012 to report that she had killed her boyfriend in self-defense. According to Shayna, Ryan Poston had beaten her and he was reaching for a gun when she grabbed it and shot him. She said that Ryan was throwing her around the room like a ragdoll, into furniture, the walls, and onto the floor. He was evil, she said, and he deserved what he got.But evidence did not support Shayna's version of events. Family, friends, and acquaintances would come forward to describe a very different reality from what Shayna had described; a reality where Shayna was obsessed with Ryan and he was a kind man who had been trying to break up with her for months. Join us at the quiet end for Loved to Death. Ryan Poston was a 29-year-old attorney with a bright future ahead. He even had a date with a beauty queen planned for the night he was killed. But Shayna claimed that he had a dangerous temper and that she was a victim of domestic violence. Was it possible that only Shayna had seen this dark side of Ryan or was Shayna a manipulative, cold-blooded killer who would rather see Ryan dead than see him with another woman?

Today, we're talking about Shayna Hubers, who I heard about in this wonderful book called Porn and Murder. This is an actual book that I own on my kindle account. Shayna was convicted of murdering her on again/off again boyfriend Ryan Poston in 2012.
On today's episode we delve into the chilling case of Ryan Poston. On October 12, 2012, Ryan Carter Poston, an American attorney at law from Fort Mitchell, Kentucky, was shot to death by his on again off again girlfriend Shayna Michelle Hubers. After a trial in the Campbell County circuit court, Hubers was convicted of murder on April 23, 2015.

On October 12, 2012, shots were heard piercing the silence of the night. When the shots were over a man was dead, murdered by his jealous girlfriend. This is the tragic story of Ryan Poston.
Back when we started this podcast, early on, we covered the case of Jodi Arias and Travis Alexander during episode 10. It was an incredibly bizarre case as Jodi behaved so erratically and committed a heinous crime against Travis Alexander. It was so fascinating because it was all just so out there, leaving me to think that this wasn't a super common thing, right? Domestic violence is a crime that typically occurs against women with a woman being assaulted or beaten every 9 seconds in the US. It is the leading cause of injury to women – more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined. While it's clear that women are a more prevalent target of domestic abuse, we can't discount the fact that men are sometimes victims as well and today, we're discussing the case of Ryan Poston and Shayna Hubers. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/mamamystery/support

When she falls into the arms of a handsome 28-year-old attorney she initially thinks she has found her happily ever after. However, when that relationship starts to disintegrate so does her mind. She'll do anything and everything to keep him by her side because if she can't have him then no one can. This is the story of Ryan Poston and Shayna Hubers
An Ohio woman accused of fatally shooting her boyfriend because he was dumping her to go out on a date with a beauty queen. Shayna Hubers claims Ryan Poston was abusive and she was trying to get away from him, although prosecutors argue that shooting him in the face five more times in his body suggests she wanted him dead.Joining Nancy Grace today:Francey Hakes - Former federal prosecutor, Podcast: "Best Case Worst Case", Senior Producer on FOX's America's Most Wanted, Twitter/Instagram: @franceyhakes,Dr. Angela Arnold - Psychiatrist, Atlanta GA www.angelaarnoldmd.com, Expert in the Treatment of Pregnant/Postpartum WomenJoe Scott Morgan - Professor of Forensics Jacksonville State University, Author, "Blood Beneath My Feet" featured on "Poisonous Liaisons" on True Crime NetworkKristy Mazurek - Emmy Award-winning Investigative Reporter

Across the US, intimate homicides account for approximately 9% of all murders nationwide, and while we hear accounts mainly of the cases involving victims that are women, violence against men and mariticide can quite often be less talked about. Mariticide is the killing of one's husband, boyfriend or male intimate partner, and although a few cases have dominated headlines over the past 15 years or so, this has been due to the antics of the killer, while the victims in these cases remain relatively unknown. Good examples of this are the cases of Jodi Arias, who shot and killed Travis Alexander on June the 4th 2008, and that of Shayna Huber who claimed self-defense after shooting and killing Ryan Poston in October of 2012. But there is one case that I came across that I had never heard of before, and I wanted this man's story to be heard. This is the story of Matthew Gailie. For all of our links, click here. On October 12, 2012, Ryan Poston was shot and killed inside his Highland Heights, Kentucky home. The shooter; his on-again , off-again girlfriend, Shayna Hubers. Ryan was a well loved and attractive attorney. Shayna was a college student aspiring to become a school counselor. Was it self defense or something more sinister?

After a bizarre police interrogation, Shayna was arrested and charged with Ryan’s murder. At trial, it came down to whether you believed the prosecution’s star forensic expert, or the defense’s expert. It became a story known as the “Nose Job Murder”. A Jodi Arias Copycat. Ryan Poston was the perfect young man. Smart, handsome, funny—he was a young attorney living in Northern Kentucky with tons of friends and a close-knit family that loved him. But he also had a girl in his life. One that wouldn’t let go. One that refused to concede that her relationship with Ryan was over. That girl was Shayna Hubers. And if Shayna couldn’t be with him, no one else would. This is Shayna Hubers. Scorned and obsessed.
Shayna Hubers had been dating Ryan Poston for about a year and a half. It was said to be a volatile relationship that would end when Hubers found out that Ryan had gone on a date with another girl. The Collin Street Bakery makes one hell of a fruitcake. For more than 100 years, the bakery has shipped their fruitcakes to everyone from Grace Kelly to Vanna White. In fact, the small-town bakery is such a big deal that Corsicana, Texas, is known as the fruitcake capital of the world. So when Sandy Jenkins landed a job as a payroll supervisor at the bakery, he and his wife Kay were ecstatic. But the glow wore off pretty quickly. He worked hard. He thought his pay rate was low. Too low. But as his role with the bakery grew, so did his access to the bakery’s money. So in December of 2004, he decided to help himself to some cash. Then Brandi tells us about a strange 911 call. It was October 12, 2012, when Shayna Hubers called 911. She’d just shot her boyfriend, attorney Ryan Poston. She told the dispatcher that she’d done so in self defense. Ryan had been violent with her, she said. He’d knocked her around and pushed her into a bookcase. The evidence told a different story. And now for a note about our process. For each episode, Kristin reads a bunch of articles, then spits them back out in her very limited vocabulary. Brandi copies and pastes from the best sources on the web. And sometimes Wikipedia. (No shade, Wikipedia. We love you.) We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the real experts who covered these cases. In this episode, Kristin pulled from: “Just Desserts” by Katy Vine for Texas Monthly “Former Collin Street Bakery Executive and Wife Sentenced,” FBI.gov “Sandy Jenkins gets 10 years prison; probation for wife Kay,” Corsicana Daily Sun “A tale of trust betrayed at landmark Corsicana bakery,” by Barry Shlachter for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram In this episode, Brandi pulled from: “Obsessed” episode 48 Hours “Shayna Hubers” episode Snapped “Murder of Ryan Poston”http://wikipedia.org

In 2012, 21-year-old Shayna Hubers shot and killed 29-year-old Ryan Poston inside Ryan's condo. Ryan was a promising young attorney in Cincinnati, Ohio. What happened during their year-and-a-half relationship to cause things to end so badly. The prosecution claimed that Shayna killed Ryan out of jealousy. She didn't want the relationship to end and found out he was dating someone else. The defense claimed she killed Ryan out of self-defense.This is an interesting case in that there is plenty of audio, including Shayna's 911 call and her interrogation tapes. An Ohio woman is on trial for fatally shooting her boyfriend because he was dumping her to go out on a date with a beauty queen. Shayna Hubers claims Ryan Poston was abusive and she was trying to get away from him, although prosecutors argue that shooting him in the face five more times in his body suggests she wanted him dead. Nancy Grace digs into the case with former federal prosecutor Francey Hakes, private investigator Jim Elliott, forensics expert Joseph Scott Morgan, New York psychologist Dr. Chloe Carmichael, and Crime Stories reporter John Lemley.

Ryan Poston and Shayna Hubers had been dating on and off for about a year when one night in October 2012, a 911 call was placed from Ryan's condo. When officers arrived, they found Ryan dead from multiple gunshot wounds. Shayna claimed it was self-defense even though Ryan had been shot 6 times. I'll go over Shayna's bizarre behavior, the details from the trial, and tell you about a shocking new development that just might change everything. This week Tab and Gretch talk about a story suggested by a fellow podcaster. We have a guest housewife this week Rebekah Sebastian from Die-Alogue Podcast. The story is bananas. Shayna Hubers and Ryan Poston looked like the perfect couple. Dreamy smiles, clean cut, born with good looks and smart brains. Both were on their way to so much success until one of the dozens of nights, much like the others before, Shayna and Ryan were breaking up. This break up, make up game seemed to be something that happened often. However, on the night of October 12th something was different Ryan was going to meet another woman. As Ryan got ready for his date Shayna had another idea which ended in Ryan never having another date again. www.housewivesoftruecrime.com facebook.com/housewivesoftruecrime intagram @housewivesoftruecrime Guest Housewife - Rebekah Sebastian https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/die-alogue-a-true-crime-conversation/id1470890320 Sources: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Wsd7oW93hQ https://www.facebook.com/ShaynaHubersWronged/ https://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/2019/01/15/shayna-hubers-has-filed-divorce-woman-she-married-jail/2584594002/ https://www.cbsnews.com/pictures/how-did-shayna-hubers-reach-her-breaking-point/5/ https://abcnews.go.com/US/murdered-kentucky-lawyers-shayna-hubers-sentencing-made-sick/story?id=31524068 https://www.fox19.com/story/38925918/prosecutors-continue-calling-witnesses-in-the-shayna-hubers-retrial/Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/housewives-of-true-crime/donations
