Ken and Lima push back on Chris Simms' theory that Shedeur Sanders lost the quarterback competition by playing it too safe in practice, arguing Simms barely follows the Browns and is likely working off secondhand reports rather than real evidence. They point out the irony that Deshaun Watson, not Sanders, is the one who looks afraid to push the ball downfield, and question why so many local hosts are pinning the decision on ownership ego when the front office's own moves—stockpiling quarterbacks, scrubbing Watson's signage—already read as an admission the trade was a disaster. The segment closes with a preview of Albert Breer's claim that Watson may not even be viable as a backup, teeing up more discussion at 9 with Joe Thomas.

Zac Jackson joins Lima and Nick Pedone to unpack his "same old Browns" take on the Denzel Ward extension, explaining he expected the team to keep tearing down toward next year's quarterback draft rather than commit long-term money to a 29-year-old cornerback. Jackson argues Ward leveraged the Myles Garrett situation perfectly to force a pay-or-trade decision, and while he still believes the defense can be good under new coordinator Mike Rutenberg and rookie Jared Verse, he's skeptical it can be a truly elite unit without Garrett. On the quarterback competition, Jackson says he's not optimistic about Deshaun Watson regaining anything close to his old form and predicts the real tell of who's winning will be whether one quarterback starts pulling ahead in first-team reps rather than any grainy practice video.

Red, White & Blues FC | £117m for Morgan Rogers and a Rumor Mill Gone FeralChelsea break the Premier League transfer record, ship Garnacho off to Villa, and get linked to roughly half of Europe — and we're cynical about most of it.Transfer season is here, and Daniel opened the show by torturing Jason all day with an all-caps text promising a “big surprise announcement” that had nothing to do with transfers. The payoff: bald fraud Anthony Taylor is retiring, and we will never have to watch him officiate a Chelsea match again. From there it's a genuinely wild 48–72 hours of business — one record signing, one loan exit, and a rumor list long enough to need its own spreadsheet. We're happy, we're skeptical, and we're bracing for the moment BlueCo inevitably breaks our hearts again.Anthony Taylor Rides Off — and No, We're Not “Delusional”We saw The Athletic's framing coming: fans piling on Taylor at retirement supposedly proves how “delusional” supporters are about referees. We push back hard. We're not anti-referee — we know it's a brutal job, the gear, the whining twenty-somethings surrounding you every match. We're anti-Premier League referees, and we are 1,000% anti-Anthony Taylor specifically. The only bittersweet part is we'll never get to hear that Chelsea terrace chant about him again.Morgan Rogers for £117m — Record Signing, Familiar DoubtsThe big one: Morgan Rogers joins from Aston Villa for a reported £117m, a new Premier League record, on a six-plus-one. The Xabi Alonso “pull” narrative is everywhere — a phone call, Cole Palmer's friendship, Chelsea being Chelsea — and this is where Daniel and Jason go back and forth. Daniel refuses to swallow the “Chubby wanted him so Chubby got him” line whole, pointing out we heard the exact same thing about Maresca and Pochettino. Yes, a serious manager helps recruitment; no, it doesn't explain everything, and the round-table “Knights of Chelsea” mythology (with Eghbali cast as King Arthur) is media hype. Both of us land in the same place: Rogers is a good player, 23, on sensible wages, fitting the buy-young-sell-high model — but we overpaid, and we don't actually know where he fits. Double tens? Wing? Wing-back under Alonso? Nobody's sure. The Money Doesn't Add Up — and the Defense Pays for ItWe dig into the We Ain't Got No History math floating around: the Rogers fee roughly equals what Chelsea banked from Cucurella, Andrey Santos, Tyrique George, Jimmy-Jay Morgan, and the Maresca compensation. We both flag the same flaw — those are gross numbers, and we were still paying wages on most of them, so the “we basically got Rogers for free” spin doesn't hold. What's undeniable is Chelsea sell better than anyone (£400m+ shifted, largely pure-profit academy kids), which is how the spending happens. But Jason's frustration is the through-line of the whole episode: for the same £117m, Chelsea could have had a center back and a goalkeeper. Instead it's another attacker, and the back line is in the lurch again. And, oh yeah — still no front-of-shirt sponsor, four years running, £200m+ left on the table.Garnacho Out, and the Great Rumor AvalancheGarnacho heads to Villa on loan with a soft, appearance-based option around £43m — meaning Chelsea might somehow turn a profit on a player nobody wanted. Good riddance and good luck; Villa's own subreddit is bracing for another reclamation project (”if Unai Emery can't fix him, no one can”). Then we speed-run the rumor mill: Maxence Lacroix inching closer (but don't get fooled, we've seen Chelsea put all their marbles in one basket before), Nico possibly reuniting with Emery, Bruno Guimarães as a possible Arsenal hijack, Enzo Fernández linked to Atlético and quietly to City, and the one that actually excites us — Cristian Romero from Spurs in a swap that offloads Neto. We've begged for years for a proper asshole in this squad; Romero, red cards and all, might finally be our asshole. Add Alex Scott, Adam Wharton, Illia Zabarnyi, Eduardo Camavinga, and a Bosnian teenage winger (Kerim Alajbegović) to the pile, and Fabrizio Romano is teasing a “Da Bomba” midfield transfer that's almost certainly just a name we've already heard. We close on Morgan Rogers one more time, on our own cynicism, and on the quiet hope — dangerous as it is — that this time it actually works. This is a public episode. Why This Episode MattersThe Guys taste ʻŌkolehao, a nearly lost Hawaiian spirit made from kī root, and explore its unusual history and revival. Why Michelin retired its Green Star—and why judging sustainability is far more complicated than judging what arrives at the table. The economic problem facing bars devoted exclusively to non-alcoholic cocktails.A simple way to uncover better bottles and better values when restaurant wine-list prices are climbing. The BanterMark Pascal and Francis Schott welcome two of their favorite guests: each other.Longtime listener Kelvin sends the Guys bottle number 125 of 150 from an early release of Ola ʻŌkolehao. They taste the Hawaiian spirit, find notes reminiscent of Scotch and Irish whiskey and dig into its history from its roots in Native Hawaiian culture to its disappearance and modern revival.Naturally, a discussion of spirits aged while being agitated at sea gives Mark an opening Francis never sees coming. The ConversationThe Guys begin with Michelin's decision to retire the Green Star. Recognizing restaurants for responsible sourcing and sustainable practices may be admirable, but Francis and Mark question whether such broad claims can be verified with the same confidence as food, service and the guest experience. That leads to a larger debate about Michelin's expanding reach, changing standards and whether professional restaurant critics still matter in the age of online reviews.Next, they consider the wave of mocktail-only bars and why so many have struggled to stay open. Both believe serious non-alcoholic drinks belong on every good cocktail list, but Mark questions whether a venue serving only zero-proof cocktails can compete economically with restaurants, traditional bars and coffee shops already serving the same audience. Finally, Francis shares a useful restaurant wine hack discovered in Aspen. When the bottle list starts at an uncomfortable price, look at the wines offered by the glass. Ask how many glasses the restaurant pours from a bottle and whether you can order a full bottle of one of those selections. You may find a more interesting wine at a substantially better price.Mark then reveals he has been using essentially the same strategy with pizza since the 1980s.Timestamps00:00 Tasting the revived Hawaiian spirit ʻŌkolehao05:35 The history, disappearance and return of ʻŌkolehao12:15 Why Michelin retired the Green Star16:25 Is Michelin diluting its restaurant standards?19:00 Can mocktail-only bars survive?26:20 Rising restaurant wine prices and the by-the-glass bottle hack31:20 Mark's remarkably similar pizza hackInfoOla ʻŌkolehao Distillery https://thespiritofhawaii.com/Restaurant Guys' Regulars https://restaurantguysregulars.buzzsprout.com/If you want a chance to get two tickets to our Bourbon, Beer & Beefsteak and live recording with Sother Teague and Jack McGarry in New Orleans on July 21, 2026,sign up to be a Restaurant Guys Regular (our paid subscribers) here  https://restaurantguysregulars.buzzsprout.com/ Then email TheGuys@restaurantguyspodcast.com. Tony and Robin stress-test the story, and it doesn't hold. The conversation widens to everything else that doesn't add up in Hamden's account of itself. A store clerk with years of detailed observations who never dialed a number. A family the AG says was hiding from all record-keeping — while paying property taxes, maintaining water service, and running air conditioners visible from the street. Somebody inside that house was competent. The bills prove it. Which means the squalor those children lived in wasn't neglect by incapacity. It was allocation. The adults chose where the resources went, and it wasn't to the sixteen kids in one room. The episode closes on the sharpest version of the question: when an entire town's story requires this many coincidences, at what point does "nobody knew" stop being an explanation and start being a confession?Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/ Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Just hours before his reported death from cardiac arrest, Senator Lindsey Graham was in Ukraine meeting with officials and touring a drone manufacturing facility that was later struck by Russian forces. Reports also indicate that a hotel used by the U.S. delegation was targeted after their departure. Officials say Graham died at his Washington residence, but the timing of these events has fueled widespread speculation online. In this episode, we examine the confirmed timeline, review what officials have said, and discuss the many theories circulating across social media, including claims of a cover-up, poisoning, Russian involvement, and mistaken identity. We are not claiming these theories are true. Our goal is to separate verified facts from unverified speculation and ask whether there are still unanswered questions surrounding one of the most talked-about political deaths in recent memory.Visit our merch store

There is no single note in the Nancy Guthrie case. There's a contradicting pile of them. A message reportedly tied to the man who took the 84-year-old from her Tucson home claims she's "buried with nature." A separate sender was telling TMZ "time is no longer of the essence." And whether the kidnapper ever apologized depends entirely on which outlet you trust.Retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer breaks down what investigators are actually working with. She explains how the bureau authenticates an anonymous message with no body to anchor it, why the death claim reportedly couldn't be verified, and what separates a genuine informant from someone running a scam. She looks hard at the contradiction nobody's resolved — one note demanding a fortune, the next offering Nancy's body back for nearly the same sum.One person whose plan collapsed, or two people circling the same case? An apology that's real, or reporting that got tangled? Coffindaffer lays out what these messages reveal — and what their contradictions might be hiding. All claims are reported and unconfirmed; no one has been charged. In this episode of Oncology Unplugged, host Chandler Park, MD, a medical oncologist at Norton Cancer Institute in Louisville, Kentucky, was joined by Neil M. Iyengar, MD, an associate professor and co-director of Breast Medical Oncology in the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology at the Emory University School of Medicine, as well as the director of Survivorship Services at the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.Their conversation focused on the rapidly evolving treatment paradigm for triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), the integration of metabolic health strategies, the clinical emergence of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) in the frontline metastatic setting, and the management of treatment-related toxicities.Drs Park and Iyengar examined data from the phase 3 TROPION-Breast02 trial (NCT05374512), which evaluated first-line datopotamab deruxtecan-dlnk (Dato-DXd; Datroway) in patients with PD-L1-negative metastatic TNBC. The trial demonstrated improvements in both progression-free survival and overall survival (OS) with Dato-DXd compared with standard chemotherapy. Notably, the experts also highlighted a remarkable ORR with Dato-DXd, showing that the ADC may be a robust treatment option for symptomatic patients or those experiencing rapid progression. They also discussed individualizing treatment between Dato-DXd and sacituzumab govitecan-hziy (Trodelvy) based on biomarker status, dosing schedules, and distinct toxicity profiles. Furthermore, the experts emphasized the importance of proactive management of unique ADC-associated toxicities. For Dato-DXd, they recommended prophylactic dexamethasone mouthwash and lubricating eye drops to mitigate mucositis and corneal surface events. For sacituzumab govitecan, they noted the necessity of growth factor support for neutropenia and loperamide for diarrhea.Regarding early-stage disease, they reaffirmed the phase 3 KEYNOTE-522 trial (NCT03036488) regimen of pembrolizumab (Keytruda) plus chemotherapy as the standard of care, with adjuvant escalation using capecitabine or PARP inhibitors for patients with residual disease.Drs Park and Iyengar concluded by spotlighting metabolic health interventions for patients with breast cancer. Although GLP-1 receptor agonists show promise in breast cancer survivors, Dr Iyengar cautioned against their initiation during active neoadjuvant immunotherapy due to their potential effects on pathologic complete response rates. He advocated for lifestyle interventions, including resistance training and a plant-forward, high-protein diet, to maintain lean muscle mass and improve OS outcomes.

Rethinking Retirement: Why the Numbers Don't Add Up

The Prosperity Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 2, 2026 17:34

Executive Summary This episode opens a multi-part series on one of the most emotionally loaded words in personal finance: retirement. Kim Butler and Spencer Shaw start at the foundation, examining what the word actually means, why Kim resists it, and what the math really says about the most common retirement savings targets. Kim establishes the core problem: expenses triple over 30 years, not because prices rise arbitrarily, but because the dollar is worth less. Inflation at 3% compounding over three decades transforms today's lifestyle into a figure three times larger. Add longevity into the equation and the challenge grows steeper. Life insurance companies are already pricing policies to age 121, and Kim projects that listeners in their 30s and 40s may reach 120, 130, even 140. The episode also covers the efficient debt framework, where Kim explains why a mortgage at 8% or below is a good loan and why cash outside the home is almost always more valuable than home equity. The episode tackles the 4% rule directly. Once accepted as a reliable withdrawal guideline, it has been quietly revised downward to 3.5%, 3%, and in some conversations 2.5%, while pundits on the other end are telling people they can safely take 5.5%. Todd Langford's analysis of a $2 million portfolio showed it running out in as few as 14 to 15 years, leaving a 65-year-old potentially without income at 80. Kim and Spencer also address the emotional and psychological dimensions of stopping work entirely, making the case that retirement is not just a financial risk. For many people, it may be a health risk too. [00:01:50 - 00:02:55] Spencer frames what people are actually doing: moving to Mexico, selling the house, working until 90. [00:03:18 - 00:05:13] Kim details why expenses triple: inflation at 3%, compounding lifestyle costs, and the example of her father in his mid-80s. [00:05:13 - 00:06:17] Spencer pushes back: is it rising expenses, or a dollar worth less? Kim confirms it is the dollar. [00:06:17 - 00:07:17] Kim explains efficient debt: why a mortgage at 8% or below is a good loan and why home equity is not the same as cash. [00:07:17 - 00:09:17] Kim walks through a real client scenario: $400K liquid vs. paying off the mortgage, and why cash wins. [00:09:17 - 00:11:25] Spencer presents three retirement target tiers: $800K, $1.46M, $2.67M and asks Kim to weigh in. [00:10:20 - 00:12:00] Kim addresses the Dave Ramsey $2.5M endorsement and Todd Langford's math showing it running out in 14-15 years. [00:11:25 - 00:14:59] Kim explains the 4% withdrawal rule, its quiet downward revisions, and why linear math fails in a time-based system. [00:15:00 - 00:17:07] Kim and Spencer address the human cost: purpose, physical health, and the psychological and physiological identity tied to work.
