The world is full of people right now trying to tell you that they have the secret to success. I'm not one of them. No matter how good an idea you might have to remember that nothing works all the time and there's something wrong with everything. But for your thought and consideration let me speakand seek to explain what I have learned about what I call Zone-Based lLving and how being in the right zone in the right time will be very helpful to you as you deal with what is a rather rugged and challenging way of life right now in which most people are quite tired and don't know what to do. Maybe this 15 minutes might be helpful as a start to get back on track and have a sense of energy in the midst of difficult times. And now let's see what the STOSH has to say about the program. Living in the Zones: How I've Learned to Perform, Transform, and Flourish at Every Stage of Life By Stan Hustad If you're going to survive—better yet, thrive—in today's uncertain, noisy, and sometimes nasty world, you need more than a goal or a five-year plan. You need zones. That's right—zone-based living is not just a quirky phrase I came up with; it's a powerful way to understand where you are in life, what your role is, and how to perform at your best, no matter what stage you're in. This week on the program, I dove deep into the idea that living well in today's complex world demands that we know where we are—not just physically or emotionally, but spiritually and professionally too. These five "zones" I've discovered over years of coaching, teaching, performing, and living... well, they're not only helpful—they're essential. So allow me to take you on a little journey through the five zones of life, with just enough wisdom, wit, and warning to maybe get you thinking, “Hey, I need to figure out what zone I'm in—and how to get to the next one.” The Five Zones of Life 1. The Curiosity Zone This is where we start, where we play, and where we ask a thousand questions an hour. Most of us lose it by the time we “grow up,” but here's the big idea: what if everything you thought you knew... was wrong? Could you live with that possibility? The Curiosity Zone isn't just for kids. It's for entrepreneurs, artists, scientists, and anyone who refuses to accept the world as it is. Stay curious, my friends. 2. The Impact Zone Now you're in adulthood. You're responsible. You're no longer just preparing—you're performing. This is where you grow your audience, build influence, and—yes—make a dent in the universe. It's not enough to exist. You've got to matter. And this is where our modern-day Dale Carnegies are born. Or better yet, reborn. 3. The Transformation Zone Congratulations—you've made an impact! But now it's time to do something bigger. Better. Bolder. This zone isn't about tweaking your brand or reorganizing your sock drawer. It's about radical reinvention. You're not changing because you have to. You're transforming because you can. This is the zone where ideas meet courage. 4. The Generosity Zone If you've made it here, you've succeeded. But the question is, who else has? If your success doesn't lift others, you've missed the point. Generosity isn't just about money—it's about time, attention, mentorship, kindness. Civilizations crumble without generosity. So if you're still hoarding, you're still stuck. 5. The Encore Zone Here's where I live. You don't retire—you re-fire. You've got wisdom, experience, and one more show to give. In fact, some of your best work might still be ahead. (Just ask Michelangelo, who created masterpieces into his 80s.) This zone is about finishing well, leaving a legacy, and making sure the world is just a little better because you were here. Memorable Takeaways - “What zone are you in? And what zone do you need to grow into?” - “You're not just in the marketplace. You are the marketplace.” - “Curiosity didn't kill the cat—it built the airplane, wrote the song, and launched the podcast.” - “Success without generosity is just ego with a good haircut.” - “You're on sale every day. Better learn how to sell you.” Remember This - Curiosity keeps you young. - Impact makes you relevant. - Transformation makes you necessary. - Generosity makes you unforgettable. - Encore makes you eternal. A Call to Action So where are you today? Soul tired? A little lost in the cultural noise? Wondering if you've still got it? Let me tell you something: you do. You absolutely do. You just need a map. And that's what the zone model can be—a compass for your calling, your career, and your contribution. If this message resonates with you, reach out. I'm here for coaching, conversation, counsel, or just a cup of encouragement. Let's figure out your zone—and how to get to the next one. And remember: in a world gone sideways, those who live with purpose and perform with love will always rise. All the best and blessings to you. And as always—live well, finish well, and don't forget to flourish. Let's talk: StanEdWittRadio.net

The White House has been on a full-court press to spread the good news taking place from Pittsburgh and the US Steel/Nippon Steel merger to the "big, beautiful bill" making its way through congress, and promoting the tariff fight they still very much believe in and are committing to find ways around any court obstruction. Plus, with Elon's official exit, they are still committed to clawing back DOGE cuts through what's called "rescission." Democrats continue to flounder as their polling continues to collapse and another pro-Hamas lunatic attacks a pro-Israel march in Bolder, Colorado. Guy Ciarrocchi and Erin Maguire break it all down. Our show opens with two separate, but inter-related stories. The first is another terror attack on Jews in our country, this time in Bolder, Colorado. A man screaming to “Free Palestine” lit several Jews on fire who had been gathering weekly in support of the hostages still held by Hamas. At the same time, it was reported that several Palestinians were killed trying to get food. In both cases, the Legacy/mainstream media was pro-terrorist. Independent New Media journalist Erin Moran specifically went after Reuters for putting out another fantastical piece of anti-Israeli propaganda. The Media is also confused about why fentanyl drug seizures are at “mysterious” lows along our US-Mexico border. It's almost like these media people don't have functioning brains. This leads us to the Sunday news shows, where we get to demonstrate how dumb and vacuous they are. In fact, we keep waiting for all of the pieces about Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) for his Seig Heil salute, given it was exactly the same as what Elon Musk did after Trump's inauguration. We close with the eruption of Mount Etna and remind the audience just how much carbon emission Mother Nature decided to spew into the skies. It's a chance for me to remind the audience that man-made climate change is one of the greatest hoaxes ever perpetrated on mankind.

As most of you who have been listening to this podcast for a while already know, in 2023, my team and I launched A Bolder Way Forward as an initiative within the Utah Women & Leadership Project. The mission of a BWF is to ensure that more girls, women, and their families thrive. In this episode I do a quick overview of BWF and then provide a few updates and insights on where we are at and some current needs that we have. As background, national and statewide studies continue to show that women and girls in Utah are not thriving in critical areas. Year after year, Utah continues to have high levels of domestic violence, sexual assault, child sexual abuse, and gender-based discrimination, while also ranking as the worst state for women's equality and having low levels of women's leadership representation in nearly all domains, including politics and business. Although the needle has moved slightly in a few areas, with its current trajectory it will take three or four decades to make notable progress. This is why Icontinue to say “It is time for Utah to embrace A Bolder Way Forward (BWF).” I absolutely feel called to this work so I've combined one of my life callings with some paid work and a lot of community service! We all serve in different ways. Also, learn more at www.abolderwayforward.org!

Carl's latest book, Bolder, explores how we can age better and feel better about ageing. It's a spirited takedown of ageism. Throw off the shackles of the cult of youth and don't pine for the past or shrink in horror from the future.Research suggests that one of the benefits of aging is that we get better at slowing down and being in the moment. We get better at focusing on one thing at a time and are less prone to multitasking.Mixing with different generations fosters understanding. When it comes to taking down the ageist industrial complex, mixing with other generations is at the top of the list. Language shapes our perceptions of aging. The soundtrack in your head affects how you age and how you feel about aging. Try to avoid terms like “senior moment” that reinforce negative stereotypes. It is important to be polite and civil on social media—especially in this incredibly polarized time. As soon as you get angry, you lose the argument and can turn people off.Life planning can help you find the future self that you aspire to be. For this ultra rare, alone in the house, evening (!) podcast sesh, Lou plays Adelle songs from the debut Dinosaur Jr LP (1985) -and- the debut Sebadoh LP (1988). First, a somewhat raucous version of J Mascis' Does It Float, then his own Bolder. Blown away by the lyrics, Adelle has questions about Does It Float. Lou theorizes that J was inspired by the David Letterman Show segment "Will It Float". I'm so glad you're here for episode 51 with my dear friend, Leah Boden! Leah, who is also known as Modern Miss Mason, is a long time, in real life friend, who lives far from me in England. But we love each other so much we have stayed connected through occasional visits and long talks on Voxer over the miles and years. In this episode Leah tells us all about a new book series she's written called Tales of Boldness and Faith. The first two books in the series were just released and we get to hear all about them. These books are narrative biographies written for the middle grade reader, but they are books that any parent will love reading with their kids, or on their own like me. You'll love listening to how Leah grew this series from the seed of an idea into fully blossomed books. And you'll love hearing all the fun tidbits about writing the books, and the fun surprises she has hidden in the books for your kids to discover. They might love listening to this episode too. Above all, these books will inspire your kids to grow a bigger, bolder faith.  Don't forget to pre-order my book It's Time to Talk to Your Kids About Porn: a Parent's Guide to Helping Children and Teens Develop Sexual Integrity. The book comes out in 3 short weeks and your pre -orders are wildly important to helping this book get into more hands.
