Keeping with the theme of today's Harrumph Society newsletter - Stigall says there's no reason for Republicans not to be on offense. The White House has been on a full-court press to spread the good news taking place from Pittsburgh and the US Steel/Nippon Steel merger to the "big, beautiful bill" making its way through congress, and promoting the tariff fight they still very much believe in and are committing to find ways around any court obstruction. Plus, with Elon's official exit, they are still committed to clawing back DOGE cuts through what's called "rescission." Democrats continue to flounder as their polling continues to collapse and another pro-Hamas lunatic attacks a pro-Israel march in Bolder, Colorado. Guy Ciarrocchi and Erin Maguire break it all down. And Ukraine attacks Russia via drone deep within their borders. Col. Kurt Schlichter says it should be a lesson to the United States. -For more info visit the official website: https://chrisstigall.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/chrisstigallshow/Twitter: https://twitter.com/ChrisStigallFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/chris.stigall/Listen on Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/StigallPodListen on Apple Podcasts: https://bit.ly/StigallShow -Help protect your wealth with real, physical gold and silver. Andrew Walworth, Tom Bevan and Carl Cannon discuss the state of ceasefire negotiations in the Ukraine War, and whether the U.S. Senate will force the imposition of stronger tariffs against Moscow. They also talk about Bolder, Colorado where the man who's suspected of a terrorist attack against demonstrators advocating for the release of Jewish hostages - is being charged with a federal hate crime. Then, they discuss the Polish presidential election where Trump's preferred candidate won a narrow victory on Sunday, and Kamala Harris skipping the California Democratic Convention this weekend and instead sending a three-minute video. Next, RCP White House correspondent Phil Wegmann talks to Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley (R.- IA) about efforts to reform the FBI, allegations of government weaponization by Donald Trump, and the Federalist Society's track record on judicial recommendations. And lastly, Andrew talks with defense expert Thom Shanker of George Washington University about the strategic significance of Ukraine's drone attack on Russian airfields, and why the Pentagon is paying attention.
Some people give no charity at all. But of Americans who do, the average family donation is 2-3% per year. This program examines how people arrive at the amount of their charitable contributions, where the money is contributed to, and what holds donors back from giving more, especially if they could afford to without hardship.

As most of you who have been listening to this podcast for a while already know, in 2023, my team and I launched A Bolder Way Forward as an initiative within the Utah Women & Leadership Project. The mission of a BWF is to ensure that more girls, women, and their families thrive. In this episode I do a quick overview of BWF and then provide a few updates and insights on where we are at and some current needs that we have. As background, national and statewide studies continue to show that women and girls in Utah are not thriving in critical areas. Year after year, Utah continues to have high levels of domestic violence, sexual assault, child sexual abuse, and gender-based discrimination, while also ranking as the worst state for women's equality and having low levels of women's leadership representation in nearly all domains, including politics and business. Although the needle has moved slightly in a few areas, with its current trajectory it will take three or four decades to make notable progress. This is why Icontinue to say “It is time for Utah to embrace A Bolder Way Forward (BWF).” I absolutely feel called to this work so I've combined one of my life callings with some paid work and a lot of community service! We all serve in different ways. Also, learn more at www.abolderwayforward.org!

In this episode of the Glowing Older podcast, host Nancy Griffin interviews Carl Honoré, a global keynote speaker and bestselling author, about the evolving landscape of ageism and the importance of embracing aging. They discuss the positive shifts in societal attitudes towards aging, the significance of intergenerational connections, and the role of mindfulness in living a fulfilling life. Honoré emphasizes the need for active resistance against ageism and the power of language in shaping perceptions. The conversation also touches on the potential of social media and AI in redefining aging and planning for a vibrant future.About Carl Carl Honoré is an award-winning writer, broadcaster and speaker. His bestselling books have been published in 35 languages. His second TED Talk is called Why We Should Embrace Ageing As An Adventure. Whether online or in person, Carl's keynotes and workshops are dynamic, inspiring, informative, and full of humor. His audiences range from business leaders, entrepreneurs and marketers to engineers, lawyers, and medical practitioners. Carl's latest book, Bolder, explores how we can age better and feel better about ageing. It's a spirited takedown of ageism. Bolder was a BBC Radio 4 Book of the Week and a Reader's Digest Book of the MonthCarl Honoré Links TED TALK: In praise of ageingTED TALK : In praise of slownessKey TakeawaysOutdated myths, assumptions and stereotypes box you in and limit possibilities. Throw off the shackles of the cult of youth and don't pine for the past or shrink in horror from the future.Research suggests that one of the benefits of aging is that we get better at slowing down and being in the moment. We get better at focusing on one thing at a time and are less prone to multitasking.Mixing with different generations fosters understanding. When it comes to taking down the ageist industrial complex, mixing with other generations is at the top of the list. Language shapes our perceptions of aging. The soundtrack in your head affects how you age and how you feel about aging. Try to avoid terms like “senior moment” that reinforce negative stereotypes. It is important to be polite and civil on social media—especially in this incredibly polarized time. As soon as you get angry, you lose the argument and can turn people off.Life planning can help you find the future self that you aspire to be. Start living the “right” life for you instead of stumbling along an autopilot, which is what a lot of us are doing at many stages of our lives. We are at an inflection point in history with artificial intelligence. AI can be the ultimate wingman and co-pilot in later life with our database of experience and understanding.

They emphasize the importance of user education and vigilance while engaging with technology, particularly as attacks become increasingly sophisticated. Switching to the business side, we engage in stimulating dialogue about antivirus software for Macs and whether they are necessary in this evolving digital age. Chuck, Guy, and Marty share personal anecdotes and insights about what safeguards they employ, revealing the diverse approaches to malware protection in a culture increasingly reliant on digital devices. The episode doesn't shy away from controversies either, as we discuss Apple TV Plus and its reported $1 billion annual loss amidst changing streaming landscapes. Here, the dialogue takes a proactive tone, exploring how Apple could pivot and evolve its strategies, learning from the past to navigate future successes. By examining success metrics like subscriber retention and content creation strategies, we underscore the importance of adaptive growth within Apple's service offerings. Lastly, we herald the upcoming MacStock conference, scheduled for July 11-13. The anticipation is palpable as we discuss what attendees can look forward to experience, from workshops to networking opportunities. The excitement for sharing knowledge, connecting with fellow enthusiasts, and growing within the technological ecosystem rings through as we sign off. In Touch With Vision Pro this week. For this ultra rare, alone in the house, evening (!) podcast sesh, Lou plays Adelle songs from the debut Dinosaur Jr LP (1985) -and- the debut Sebadoh LP (1988). First, a somewhat raucous version of J Mascis' Does It Float, then his own Bolder. Blown away by the lyrics, Adelle has questions about Does It Float. Lou theorizes that J was inspired by the David Letterman Show segment "Will It Float". Florida Gators signee Vernell Brown III is the consummate wide receiver recruit to play right away. I break down the on-field skills, as well as his off-field mentality, that allows Brown to play early for the Gators. He's one of six prime receiver recruits highlighted on today's The Portal Podcast that will make an impact. 1:15There's also the question of how young wide receiver recruits gain attention from college coaches while in high school and after they're in college. I break down a few keys that are often taken for granted, with North Carolina State's Jerel Bolder as a great example. 14:52Finally, Florida's top recruits often include a boatload of receivers. I provide a staggering wide receiver recruiting statistic about the Sunshine State. 17:19Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-portal-daily-college-recruiting-and-nil-podcast/id1720975375Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2Wr77m5yVBgANHkDS7NxI5YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@LO-the-portalFollow me on X: https://x.com/fbscout_floridaInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/fbscout_florida/#recruiting #transferportal #nil #recruitingrankings #collegefootballplayoff #vernellbrown #dakorienmoore #floridagators #oregonducks #quentingibsoncolorado #jerelbolderSupport Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!WayFairAfter the holiday hustle, there's nothing like giving your home a little TLC. Ceri examines how to liberate creative authenticity by offering ideas for artists who feel creatively blocked. She shares five actionable methods to escape creative paralysis and embrace your unique artistic voice. Ceri also provides examples from pioneering artists like Lindsey Mendick and Laure Prouvost, who dared to be different, and suggests exercises for practising these five ways to be bolder, braver, and weirder in your art. KEY TAKEAWAYS Bland is Boring – Stop Playing It Safe. If you don’t take risks, your work blends into the wallpaper of creative mediocrity. Push the thing that makes you Absurdity Unlocks Confidence. You don't have to make absurd, bonkers work but you do have to let yourself be surprised. Injecting a bit of the unexpected forces you into fresh territory—and that's where your best expression is waiting. Authenticity Attracts Your People. Stop second-guessing whether people will “like” your work. That’s not the goal. The goal is to make something only you could make. Embracing Mistakes Enhances Creativity. The fear of making mistakes is far more dangerous to your creativity than any actual mistake. If you’re constantly trying to avoid failure, you’ll never push your work into truly interesting, original territory. Trust Your Intuition. Overanalysing kills creative momentum. BEST MOMENTS “With AI churning out generic mush and tech pushing us towards sameness, what we need now is your gloriously weird, hyper-specific, totally you take on things.” “Playing it safe leads to forgettable work” “You don’t need everyone to love your work. You need your people to love it. The ones who get it.” “Your intuition is always talking to you. The trick is learning to hear and, more importantly, learning to trust it.” EPISODE RESOURCES PODCAST HOST BIO With over 30 years in the art world, Ceri has worked closely with leading artists and arts professionals, managed public and private galleries and charities, and curated more than 250 exhibitions and events. Dr. Tara B. M. Smith is an early career interdisciplinary academic that works in the fields of science fiction, literature, religion and popular culture. Tara is currently a research affiliate at the University of Sydney. In 2024 Tara was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Center for the Study of World Religions at the Harvard Divinity School, Boston, writing on religious ideas and experiences of people that paint and play within the science fiction “grimdark” universe of Warhammer 40,000. Tara is a passionate educator who holds a Graduate Certificate of Higher Education and has taught in academic settings for over 5 years across a variety of units including media studies, religious studies, writing skills and composition. When Tara is not studying, she spends time with her two cats Thomas and Momo and her fiancé Luke in Sydney, Australia. While most people who talk and think about the story of Dune focus on the political and religious aspects of the series [for example, the Bene Geserit with their genetic breeding program and the Kwisatz Haderach, or the Butlerian Jihad -the war against thinking machines = technology and AI], Tara's article, “The Anthropocene in Frank Herbert's Dune Series” from 2021 takes a different approach and explores the ecological/philosophical aspects of the story. As she notes, Frank Herbert was warning his readers about their anthropocentric tendencies and urging people instead to think about ecological conservation, or at least he appears to be planting a seed in the minds of the readers to be more aware of their place or role on the Earth.Poem mentioned in this interview:“I drove my feet through a desertWhose mirage fluttered like a host.Voracious for glory, greedy for danger,I roamed the horizons of al-Kulab,Watching time level mountainsIn its search and its hunger for me.And I saw the sparrows swiftly approach,Bolder than the onrushing wolf. They spread in the tree of my youth.I heard the flock in my branchesAnd was caught on their beaks and claws!”– from Arrakis Awakening by the Princess Irulan (Herbert 1978, 228)Dr. Tara Smith:https://www.linkedin.com/in/tara-b-m-smith-phd-fhea-306418192/“The Anthropocene in Frank Herbert's Dune Series”, Foundation 140, 50.3 (2021): 62-74. Growth edges aren't roadblocks; they're signs you're on the right track. Let's explore how to harness them for your personal and organizational success. What You'll Learn:How to recognize the signs that you're hitting a growth edge. The mindset shifts needed to reframe fear as an opportunity for growth.Concrete steps to navigate challenges and turn them into breakthroughs.Key Takeaways:Growth edges are moments of transformation, often disguised as fear or resistance.Recognizing signs like overthinking, procrastination, or emotional resistance can help you reframe challenges as opportunities.Progress starts with one small, actionable step—don't wait for the perfect time or plan.Steps to Navigate Your Growth Edge:Reframe Fear: Treat fear as a signal of growth, not danger.
