This week on Eavesdroppin', Geordie & Michelle look at some really bad habits...Would you eat a live cat? Tarrare did. And if you don't know who Tarrare is, he was only the grossest man alive in France in the 1700s. With an insatiable appetite and a stench that lingered, Tarrare was an unpleasant anomaly whose legend lives on. More than that, he had stretchy mouth that could fit a dozen eggs in it, he ate live cats and maybe even nibbled dead people. Geordie takes a deep dive into this human house of horrors... Michelle follows with a look at some strange eating habits starting with Lisa the crazy cat lady. Not only does she love cats, but she also loves licking them - and eating their fur. Listen now to find out if Lisa gets furballs... Michelle also looks at three ladies in the UK who love to munch on sponges, and a pair of twins who respectively enjoy eating candles and old books. Listen to their stories and Michelle's hot takes on pica... So pop on your headphones, grab a brown lemonade and join Geordie & Michelle for this week's episode, plus a voice note from Janika from Amsterdam, chit-chat about cardigans, The British Podcast Awards and more, only on Eavesdroppin' podcast. It's another rough ride on Eavesdroppin' comedy podcast this week, as Geordie and Michelle look at two Australian hometown murders… When two dirt-bike riders found human bones in the Belanglo State Forest in Australia, 2010, police were stumped. Who was this woman? Had anyone reportedthis Jane Doe as missing? Five years later, an unsuspecting motorist found a body in a suitcase on the side of the road in South Australia and once again police were confounded by the victim's identity. So - who were these victims? Was anyone looking for them? Were they connected? This week, Michelle delves into both cases and uncovers the grim details behind the murders of Karlie and Khandalyce Pearce. Geordie follows with a look at the unsolved case of murdered Australian woman, Rachelle Childs. When a burning body was found on a beach near Gerroa in New South Wales, Australia, in 2001, the remains were quickly identified as belonging to car-dealership worker Rachelle Childs. Police, friends and family were shocked and confused buy the grim discovery – who would want to kill Rachelle? As the subject of a new podcast series called Dear Rachelle, Geordie digs into the case and reveals the number one suspect who potentially has gotten away with murder. Listen to find out more!So pop on your headphones, grab a brown lemonade and join Geordie & Michelle for this week's episode, plus chit-chat about hometowns, Ivan Milat and more, only on Eavesdroppin' podcast. It's a rough ride on Eavesdroppin' comedy podcast this week, as Geordie and Michelle look at bad cults… If you were a child with scholastic issues or behavioural problems in the early 1980s in the UK, you might have been sent to a Red House alternative education facility. The brochures told of an idyllic boarding school where children who had suffered abuse or neglect at home could thrive in an environment where sailing and horse riding were interspersed with reading, writing and arithmetic. The reality was that the Red House schools were institutions where children were regularly beaten, humiliated, sexually abused and forced into slave labour. Listen now for Geordie's deep dive into Red House schools, the Danish founding organisation Tvind and a discussion about why it was a cult hiding in plain sight... Michelle follows with a look at a harrowing New Zealand cult called Gloriavale. Tucked away on the west coast of New Zealand's South Island is a religious group that was meant to be a spiritual utopia - the men worked, the women raised kids and everyone lived by the word of god and shared the spoils of communal labour. On paper, Gloriavale sounds like a dream - but it's a cult, where men are in control and women are trained to submit, serve and stay silent. Who started this cult? How is it off the international radar? And is the cult still going now? Listen to find out.So pop on your headphones, grab a brown lemonade and join Geordie & Michelle for this week's episode, plus chit-chat about Steiner Schools, Geordie's celeb Young Ones moment, Michelle's celeb encounter with a top pop star at LAX, a guardian angel encounter from Eavesdropper Steph, plus a near miss love triangle with a Hollywood A-Lister from Eavesdropper Roxanne and more, only on Eavesdroppin' podcast. On Eavesdroppin' comedy podcast this week, Geordie and Michelle look at aliens, strange space debris and would-be martians… On the 1st of December, 1987, Philip Spencer (not his real name) went out into the fog on Ilkley Moor in Yorkshire, England, for an early-morning walk. Through the fog, he saw what he initially thought was a child with the long spindly limbs, oval eyes, a large head and strange proportions. On instinct, Philip snapped a picture of the strange child – and then things got weird. Listen now to discover why what happened next has made this story one of the UK's most baffling alien-abduction encounters (hint: contains missing time, hypnosis and a very reluctant witness). Geordie follows with a look at the dud that was the Mars One would-be space mission. Back in 2012, a Dutch space entrepreneur launched an exciting new proposal – he planned to send 100 people on a one-way trip to Mars to live out the rest of their days on the Red Planet. What's more, they'd all be on their very own reality TV show about the mission! Genius! Except that the whole idea turned out to be a turkey. Listen now to find out why! So pop on your headphones, grab a brown lemonade and join Geordie & Michelle for this week's episode, plus chit-chat about a weird space orb found in Buga, Matthew Brown the UFO whistleblower, banned baby names and more, plus a snippet from friend of the show, Serena Bobowski - only on Eavesdroppin' podcast. Hey Dog Lover,What happens when we stop trying to “fix” our dog — and start asking who they truly are?In this episode, I sit down with Heather to talk about her incredible journey with Geordie — a dog she once believed she'd never truly connect with. Together, we explore what it means to see the world through your dog's eyes, to lead with emotional reliability, and to step into a quiet, shared language of partnership.Heather reflects on:

On Eavesdroppin' comedy podcast this week, Geordie and Michelle delve into the supernatural with two stories of hauntings! In the mid 1600s, there was a tyrannical Scottish lawyer called Sir George ‘Bloody' Mackenzie who had the charming nickname of The Edinburgh Executioner. After his death in 1691, his remains were buried in a mausoleum in Greyfriars kirkyard in Edinburgh, where they remained undisturbed until 1998… When a homeless man broke into George's tomb, he discovered the gruesome decomposing remains of plague victims that had been somehow vac-packed by the tomb. Freaked out, the homeless man fled - but he'd disturbed George's resting place and a series of terrifying events in the graveyard followed. Listen now to hear Geordie dive into the case! Michelle follows with the story of Eleanore Zugan, who presents as one of the most authentic poltergeist cases of the last century. In 1925 in rural Romania, 11 year old Eleanore found a coin on the ground, picked it up, against her friend's wishes, and spent the money on sweets, which she ate herself without sharing. Her grandmother told her she was a wicked child and that she'd swallowed the devil. But did she? Because after this incident, strange things began happening to Eleanore – like, poltergeist strange things. Objects would appear out of thin air. Items would mysteriously fly around the room. Scratches and bite marks would appear on Eleanore's body and strange things would happen whenever she was around. Was she haunted? Or was it something else? Listen now and decide for yourself! So pop on your headphones, grab a brown lemonade and join Geordie & Michelle for this week's episode, plus chit-chat about Pinball Geoff, fake documentaries, telly recs and more, only on Eavesdroppin' podcast. Never thought we'd see the day when a win over Manchester United seemed routine, and yet here we are. Bill & Kevin discuss Newcastle's professional 4-1 win over their former nemesis, a club that has been the one, over and over, to break Geordie hearts. But now? An expected win. What's the rest of the season look like? What were our favorite moments from the match? And were you as surprised as Bill at what Jason Tindall's voice sounds like?
Originally released for Patreons in March 2024 I hope you enjoy this very special episode. In the 19th Patreon bonus podcast you join me as I investigate a building dating from 1825, which is today the largest independent library outside of London. This was the first public building lit by an electric lightbulb and in 1830 a mummy from Egypt was unwrapped right here. But what would happen when, joined by fellow Geordie podcaster, Icy Sedgwick, we attended a fundraising ghost hunt at this historic location in our home town. Some have claimed that this building could be the home of 16 individual spirits, including a former librarian who still the flicks through the books after dark. So tonight, join me as together ask, just how haunted is the Lit & Phil. On Eavesdroppin' comedy podcast this week, Geordie and Michelle look at two mysterious murders – listen with discretion! When Texas land leaser Greg Fleniken settled in for the evening at the Eleganté Hotel in Beaumont, Texas, with a ciggy and some snacks, he was expecting a quiet night in, just him and the telly. The next morning when Greg's wife Susie couldn't get hold of Greg on the phone, she asked a couple of Greg's co-workers to check in on him. What they found was Greg dead on the floor, ciggy in hand, not a scratch on him. At first, the police put Greg's death down to natural causes – but unexplainable internal injuries pointed to murder. So what happened to Greg? How did he receive extreme internal injuries without any noticeable external injuries? And was it really murder? Listen now to hear Geordie discuss one of the biggest online murder mysteries and unravel the case…Michelle then discusses one of the most shocking, horrifying and all-round disgusting cases ever covered on Eavesdroppin' – the murder of Christina Parcell, also known as the Rose Petal Murder… When vet technician Christina was found stabbed more than 30 times in the face and neck, the community of Greer in the USA was in shock – who would want to murder their vet? But when the police dug a little deeper into the case, what they found was deeply disturbing. Photos and videos on Christina's phone uncovered a dark side that no one saw coming. Trigger warning – this case touches on child abuse, bestiality, murder and more, so please listen with caution. So pop on your headphones, grab a brown lemonade and join Geordie & Michelle for this week's episode, plus chit-chat about Chloe Koyce's viral hotel-lift tiktok vid, cupcakes, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese visiting an Eavesdropper and more, only on Eavesdroppin' podcast. From the sublime to the ludicrous, Newcastle showed the footballing world how to celebrate properly on Saturday as the Carabao Cup winners showed off their spoils on a bus tour of the city centre. A host of TV stars and football heroes joined the fun as the party carried on at the Town Moor with Eddie Howe in raptures (yes, really) and Bruno leading the chorus. On Eavesdroppin' comedy podcast this week, Geordie and Michelle look at the confusing, confounding, reality-bending Jejune Institute… If you were in San Francisco in 2008, you might have seen intriguing posters and flyers for something called The Jejune Institute. After tearing off a small square of paper from the bottom of the poster and calling the number, you would be transported into the world of Nonchalance and into a game of inter-dimensional hopscotch that saw people questioning reality, themselves and the world they lived in. You'd follow clues, make phone calls, get followed, realise an entire street with thousands of people was fake... It was a mind-bending experience and highly organised. Or was it? This week, Geordie looks at this bizarre institute and questions whether the entire set up was just highly complex immersive theatre, a real game that actually existed or whether it was an art hoax designed to blur the lines between fact and fiction with a fake documentary...So pop on your headphones, grab a brown lemonade and join Geordie & Michelle for this week's episode, plus chit-chat about Gene Hackman, fluffy pussies and more, only on Eavesdroppin' podcast. What happens when you lose your house and your car... and then rebuild everything from scratch? In this raw, honest, and inspiring episode of Marketing Like a Mother, Olivia Radcliffe chats with business strategist Gina Trick about how she came back from bankruptcy to run a thriving 7-figure business—without sacrificing her mental health or pretending to be someone she's not. They talk burnout, bounce-backs, and how to finally build a business that works with your life, not against it.If you've ever felt like the business world expects you to fit into a one-size-fits-all mold, this episode will feel like a warm, slightly sassy permission slip to do it your way.Key Takeaways:* Burnout isn't just a buzzword—it can be the body's way of saying, “That's enough.”* There's no gold star for doing it all—success should feel good, not just look good.* You don't need another guru's five-step framework—you need a business that aligns with you.* Building a business from scratch doesn't require fancy software—it starts with connection and courage.* The best clients come when you stop hiding and start showing up as yourself (Geordie accent and all).
It's time for The Truth!Today, Sam and Dougie are looking at Alexander Isak, who is hot property right now after another stellar campaign with Newcastle United, which culminated in him firing them to Carabao Cup glory at Wembley on Sunday against Liverpool. Newcastle are absolutely adamant that their Swedish superstar is going nowhere - and so they should be - but that hasn't stopped the rumour mill going into overdrive about clubs interested in prying him away from Tyneside this summer. So we dig into the numbers, take a look at Newcastle's financial position, examine the words of the people in the know about their business model, and try to work out whether this is bluster or something more concrete. We also explore possible destinations for if Newcastle decided that they were going to cash in on their most profitable asset, talking about how Isak would fit at both Liverpool and Arsenal - who are both reported to be very interested - and some alternate options on the continent as well. So, will Alexander Isak continue to spearhead the Geordie renaissance as they work their way up the table? Or will his value, a big offer, and a desire to build out the squad mean that he will be playing football elsewhere next year? Well, The Truth is somewhere in the middle... And remember, if you'd like more from the Rank Squad, including extra podcasts every Monday and Friday (including our weekly Postbox taking a look at the whole weekend of football) and access to our brilliant Discord community, then why not join us here on Patreon?
On this week's episode, David Prutton takes himself off to the seaside, to spend some quality time in the company of Blackpool FC manager Steve Bruce. From sharing a dressing room with Cantona, Kanchelskis, Giggs and Hughes, to realising every Geordie's dream of managing Newcastle United, Steve has enjoyed a remarkable career over his 4 decades in the game. He's got lofty ambitions for his Seasiders and is very much enjoying his time at Bloomfield Road, so who's to say he couldn't clock up an incredible 50 years of doing what he loves best!

On Eavesdroppin' comedy podcast this week, Geordie and Michelle look at fraudsters and fakes… Have you watched Apple Cider Vinegar on Netflix? It's based on the real-life story of cancer con woman, Belle Gibson, who lied about having cancer in order to be a successful Instagram influencer. Yes, you read that right – she told her followers she was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer and had only 4 months to live, but through clean eating and a vegetarian diet, she cured her cancer. Sounds good – EXCEPT IT WAS ALL A LIE. Listen now to discover the horrific depths of her con.How far would you go to get attention? Welcome to this BONUS edition of Pod on the Tyne, organised to commemorate the **checks notes** routine win for Liverpool at home to Newcastle... Yes, Chris made us all get together to reflect on a dress rehearsal that definitely could have gone a lot worse for Newcastle, but equally gave us no additional reasons to expect a winning performance at Wembley in March's Carabao Cup final. Of course, the late withdrawal of Alexander Isak through injury was the main talking point, and one that put a dagger through most Geordie hearts. We will need everyone fit and firing if we are to compete for that trophy and push on to a European place come May. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
