Best of all, you will connect with your Celtic heritage. Please tell one friend about this podcast. Word of mouth is the absolute best way to support any creative endeavor. Here's a thought worth sitting with. The single most powerful thing we can do to fight climate change is move toward clean energy. Solar, wind, hydro. Energy that doesn't cost the earth to produce. But while the big picture shifts, there's plenty we can do right now in our own lives. Think about the 5 Rs of Sustainability. Refuse what you don't need. Reduce what you use. Reuse what you already have. Repurpose the things that still have life in them. And recycle whatever is left. Start with just one of those this week. Pick the easiest one. Then build from there. Small choices, made by millions of people, add up to something enormous. The music we love was born from a culture that respected the land. Let's honor that. Daniel Faigin emailed re: Android Shuffle Apps: "Marc: I primarily listen to music via my iPod Classic (extensive smart playlists, all on shuffle). But all my music (around 58,000 tracks), is on my Android phone, and there I used the Gone Mad Music Player. It can play the music downloaded to your device, and has a smart playlist equivalent to the iPod / iTunes capability. It's the backup for my iPod Classic. Just search for it on Google Play; it does require a small payment to support development and unlock full capabilities. Alas, fewer phone manufacturers are supporting an external memory card (critical when you have a lot of music) - - Samsung might at the lowest level, as well as Motorola. Other than that, you need more storage if you download music." Gershon commented on Patreon: "Sitting here in my favorite chair, listening to #754, two dogs at my feet, reading and sipping my evening tea I heard your commentary regarding our wayward President and feckless Congress. Thank you! You are on the right side of history. I appreciate this after the horrific week we've had. I am even prouder now to be a supporter and fan. Keep up the good work and make "good trouble."

One thing that could make us all healthier is drinking less alcohol – and there's now a huge market for alcohol‑free drinks. But one category that has long struggled to deliver great taste is non‑alcoholic wine. In this episode Jaega Wise looks to find out why it's so difficult to make a wine without alcohol that still tastes good, and asks what difference these drinks can make to people trying to cut back. Jaega begins the story of German producer Bernhard Jung, whose family pioneered vacuum distillation more than a century ago. She meets Fiona Graham and Alex Viol of Vino Zero along with wine expert Jane Rakison to taste some of today's most promising alcohol‑free bottles, and speaks to David Hodgson of Zeno Wines about the challenges behind creating convincing 0% options. At Plumpton College, master's student George Coles and programme manager James Clapham explain how future winemakers are experimenting with new approaches.During the programme, Jaega also brings together Professor John Holmes of the University of Sheffield and Richard Piper from Alcohol Change UK to explore how no‑ and low‑alcohol drinks might influence our drinking habits. And with Tom Ward of Wise Bartender, she looks at the growing world of mid‑strength wine - a category some believe could be the next step in helping people drink differently.Presented by Jaega Wise Produced in Bristol for BBC Audio by Natalie Donovan

In this conversation, Dr. Tom Ward joins the shot to talk about his journey to Catholicism, the role of family in nurturing belief, and the theological and philosophical contributions of Blessed John Duns Scotus to the Catholic Tradition. Our dialogue explores the challenges faced by converts, the importance of understanding church history, and the nuances of Scotus's thought, particularly regarding univocity and analogy in relation to God and creation, misconceptions about Bl. John Duns Scotus' association with nominalism, his unique perspectives on individuality and the nature of the will, and his intriguing theory about the fall of Satan and its implications for understanding moral choices. We wrap up with a brief discussion on Stoicism, its resurgence in modern times, and the relevance of Boethius' thoughts in this context. Ordered by Love: https://angelicopress.com/products/or... On October 23rd, 524, Boethius, the last of the Classical philosophers and the first Medieval Man, was executed. Today, 1,500 years later, his work, especially The Consolation of Philosophy, continues to influence many, including major thinkers such as C.S. Lewis. Dr. Tom Ward returns to Mere Fidelity to discuss what Boethius can teach us today. Dr. Ward has recently written a new book about Boethius: After Stoicism. I have a lot of great music to share as well as a fascinating observation. In the past, it is the Celtic songs that were voted on the most for the Celtic Top 20. But I was looking at the last few weeks. And it's the Celtic tunes, the instrumentals, that are dominating your voting. That is fantastic. So keep those votes coming. But I guess that also means I should do a Celtic song episode in the coming weeks. I'd love to know what your favorite contemporary Celtic songs are. By that I mean, what original songs by Celtic musicians do you love the best? I have found several songs on this podcast that were covered by other Celtic artists. I might do a show like that in the future too. We shall see. But let me know your thoughts. Thomas Michl emailed from the south of Germany: “Hello Marc, in your last newsletter you ask about personal favourites and I do indeed have a band that I haven't heard in your podcast yet, but that I really like: The Rattling Kind with Eddie Sherlock (Dublin) I would love to hear them on your podcast. Otherwise, I'm already looking forward to St Patrick's Day with good music from the Irish and Celtic Music Podcast ; - ) Greetings” Kathy Glasgow replied to my St Patrick's Day request: “I celebrated by getting my next semester of classes ready while listening to your podcast. I have them on my phone, so I was also listening to them today between classes. “ Ryan McKinney of O'McPub Band: “Marc, Thank you for all you've done for Irish and Celtic music. We've listened for a number of years and I play in an Irish folk duo with my friend Joe. We've been playing at pubs and wherever else they will take us for a few years now. We are finally going to try and get some of our versions of Irish tunes recorded but not exactly sure where to start. Then I remembered you offer the ebook on digital music. We would greatly appreciate your guidance and suggestions to make sure we think of everything. Thanks again and hope when we get everything done we can someday hear ourselves on your podcast! Slainte,” Hey BTW, the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast is now a proud sponsor of IrishFest Atlanta in November. I'll have more details in the future.

Who will the jury believe?
