Welcome to another episode of The HERO Show. I am your host Richard Matthews, (@AKATheAlchemist) and you are listening to episode 213 with Sid Garza-Hillman – Achieving Long-Lasting Improvements to Your Health & Happiness. https://sidgarzahillman.com/ (Sid Garza-Hillman) is the author of three books: https://www.amazon.com/Approaching-Natural-Manifesto-Sid-Garza-Hillman/dp/1937359352 (Approaching the Natural): A Health Manifesto, https://www.amazon.com/Raising-Healthy-Parents-Stress-Thriving/dp/1944903216 (Raising Healthy Parents): Small Steps, Less Stress, and a Thriving Family, and https://www.amazon.com/Six-Truths-these-truths-happy/dp/1644281929 (Six Truths): Live by these truths and be happy, don't and you won't. He graduated from UCLA with a BA in Philosophy and is a public speaker, podcaster (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/what-sid-thinks/id1404675781 (What Sid Thinks)), certified nutritionist, certified running coach, and certified Oxygen Advantage Breathing Instructor. He is the Stanford Inn & Resort's Wellness Programs Director and founder/director of the https://smallstepintensive.com/ (Small Steppers) habit change program. Here's just a taste of what we talked about today:https://drive.google.com/file/d/1l0yKJDD7KaDyLdryITgPYT2ksgBF9mFD/view?usp=sharing (Empathy, Levity & Humor as a Superpower)Sid brings a sense of humor and levity to very heavy subjects even to his music, he has always been an under the radar guy. Which he doesn't think of as the worst superpower in the world. He is not mainstream. Sid had core people who loved his music and everything he does, but not very many of them. He has the ability to empathize with people because he has been through it. In the same way as his clients, he figured out a good way to manage his struggles and successfully overcome those. Which makes him effective when he teaches people. https://drive.google.com/file/d/13GoFfgadpCnPLogaZwONH9UXTB7It-Og/view?usp=sharing (To Achieve True Health & Happiness as a Driving Force) Sid fights to help people achieve real substantial health and happiness, and not the magazine quick fix stuff. When he says true health and happiness, it involves being strong in our minds and bodies. That's his ultimate goal and driving force in his business. Other Topics We Covered on the Show: We get to know more about Sid's business, the people that he serves, and the services he provides. Sid also shared his go-to strategy for people to stick to the program and achieve long-lasting improvements in their health and happiness. Then, we discussed the importance of being clear about your overall life and business goals. Next, we talked about Sid's origin story. His fascination with diet and nutrition and his attachment to the quality of life paves the way to who he is now. Being resistant to promotion and marketing has been Sid's fatal flaw in his business. He was able to overcome this type of flaw by trusting that people know more things than he does. One thing that Sid fights against in his business is the yo-yo quick-fix diets that people often go after. Lastly, Sid's guiding principles are integrity and living by example. It's not about what he says, but so much about what he is doing. In this episode… With the start of a new year, many are excited to dive into their resolutions. However, these resolutions often last for a few months at best, and we end up back in our old habits. So how can we build healthy habits, achieve our personal goals, and create lasting change? According to Sid Garza-Hillman, people often expect a quick fix and want to achieve their goals right away. These quick fixes are not only unrealistic agents of change, but they can lead to burnout and boredom with our once-exciting goals. How do you consistently hit your target goals? Sid's mantra is mind first, body second. He says you shouldn't spend January in the gym or on a diet. You should start the new year off by getting clear on your goals, thinking about your plan of action, and preparing your brain for change. In this episode of the Multiply You Podcast, Austin Clark talks with Sid Garza-Hillman, Founder of Small Steppers, about setting goals and delivering the results you actually want. Sid shares the best practices for creating healthy habits, how he coaches clients through their personal goals, and the importance of taking small steps towards change. Stay tuned to learn how you can successfully attain those New Year's resolutions!

Sid Garza-Hillman is a Small-Stepper. That may seem insignificant, and that's the point. So many insignificant and small steps, incorporated into you life, make a very significant difference. Sid is the author of Approaching the Natural: A Health Manifesto and Raising Healthy Parents: Small Steps, Less Stress, and a Thriving Family. He graduated from UCLA with a BA in Philosophy, is a public speaker, podcaster (What Sid Thinks Podcast), certified nutritionist, and Small Steps Coach–teaching his unique approach to healthy living at smallsteppers.com. He is the Stanford Inn Eco-Resort's Wellness Programs Director, co-creator with Matt Frazier of Health Made Simple, and Race Director of the sold-out Mendocino Coast 50K trail ultramarathon. Sid and I connected on his path to becoming a small-stepper (what is this anyway?) and nutritionist. His health and wellness approach is truly remarkable. On the podcast we talk about his approach to nutrition and rating the health of foods, solving stress which resolves stress-eating, parenting children in a healthy way, COVID-19, replacing poor habits with healthy habits, little victories, SHOULD-ing on yourself, dealing with overwhelm easily and keeping things fun, the Mendocino 50 kilometer race he organizes, his next book, and..... home roasting coffee! This podcast was a blast. We covered a lot and I hope you guys enjoy this episode!
